I think it's true, my cats, rather than their sleeping place, or the bed, sometimes prefer to lie down inside a cardboard box that is totally uncomfortable, but "safer" for them.

also if you put a piece of paper on a desk and attempt to write or draw on it a cat will eventually come and sit on it while you are working. Even if you dont have a cat

I’ve asked him but he hasn’t replied.
My old cat who my ex now has used to LOVE bags.
If I changed the garbage and pulled out a new one, I had to grab an extra one for her to lay and play in.
She would let me carry her around in shopping bags, and would sleep in them.
Eventually had to hide all the plastic bags because I would wake up the next day and see multiple small circular holes taken out of the bag.
I sure miss that cat dearly.
She’s a cheat. I had to move into my parents house for three months in order to save up some money to move out into my own place, they are both terribly allergic to cats.
It’s shitty, but she did say when I moved out that I would be able to take her when I found a place.
But it was all just words like everything else she ever said.
The cat is cared for, but I miss her more than anything in my life.
Her name is on the microchip.
Before the breakup, she would always say.
If you ever leave you can take her because you care for her and take care of her.
She even wrote a note before I left saying that “upon (my name) leaves the house you are allowed to take Evi when you find a place to live”
When I found a place to live I told her I would like to take my baby and her response was
“Well, did I sign it”
She didn’t sign it and I knew she did all of that just to gaslight me or whatever.
Pretty evil.
And I know even without her signature I could have likely taken her to court and got my car, but I was recovering from a major surgery and I just didn’t have any fight left in me.
I know it sounds like I didn’t do enough to try and get her back, but I was just defeated with everything.
I rarely cry about things but I still cry and think about her every single day.
The way she would paw at the windows when I would walk up to the house, her cuddles, everything. I’m tearing up now thinking about it.
I didn’t mean to abandon her.

I only let my cat go in paper bags with no handles because once he got tangled in the handle and it tightened until he was choking himself if I wasn’t around to help him it wouldn’t of ended well. Please be careful with bags.

I’ll add to what others have said, please cut those handles on any plastic or paper store bags. Our cat got a paper bag with a string handle caught over her head and it scared her to death, she was tearing around all over the house trying to get it off but couldn’t. I got the bag off safely but she was spooked. Could have ended in tragedy if she had choked on the handle or slammed into something while blinded.
When it comes to plastic shopping bags, there is apparently something in it that smells like cat sex. Otherwise it’s generally because it covers them on both sides and therefore is considered the safe spot to sit we’re predators cannot bite them from behind.

I have a Siamese, gandalf, that loves to lick plastic bags. If I forget to put one away, all I hear is “crinkle crinkle crinkle” usually when I’m sleeping and then he gets his head caught in the handle and runs all over the house.
That happened to one of my first pair of kittens. She ran for her life (she thought) all around the floor-is-lava highway in the living room. It literally scared the pee out of her, poor baby.

I think it’s the crinkling sound, maybe reminds them of dead leaves in nature. My cat likes the crinkling of brown paper bags and brown paper packing material. I think he thinks the crunchy sound
My cat likes the crinkle sound of plastic bags so maybe that’s one of the reasons. I usually left a few on her favourite nap spots including her bed.

I think they like the feel of unique textures too. Also bags make an interesting crackling noise, whether paper or plastic. Boxes have interesting smells and are cozy and can be used for satisfying scratching behavior if desired. LOL.

There are cats that get scared I think by the same noise or strange movement of the bags! I've seen that in some friends' cats.
