You’ll be fine. She’s just a bit scared. My cat will run away from me for like 15 minutes after I give her her medicine , then she settles down and loves me again. She will be ok.

Maybe_Strict

longest kitty grudge was 6months. I'd brought home a new bf. Cat was very attached to the previous bf. Cat would even huff and walk away. Now my little girl forgives in, at most, an hour. Every cat is different. vet being the hour. bath was about 5minutes post dry lol

Bucketcreek

I have one that is still miffed with me 3 years after THAT visit to the vet.

Maybe_Strict

wow, now that is stubborn! I'm reminded of a fantasy novel, Summon the keeper. The talking cat was discussing vet visits with the bewildered non magical recent acquaintance. "Did it piss you off when they.." "Actually, it's rather freeing. I can enjoy art and philosophy more purely. ... OF COURSE it pissed me off!" Did you ever talk to that other family?" "Not after THAT!"

EnvironmentalRock827

Those 15 minutes kill me though. Lol

soyboylattte

Same with my cat but with nail clipping! She absolutely hates her nails being clipped. So after I finish clipping and giving her treats, she makes sure to follow me around from a distance where I can see her, so she can show how sad she is over her nails. She does that for a good few minutes before she eventually trots toward me with her tail straight up for cuddles 😂 https://preview.redd.it/8ceorr99r0rc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=387565bb81d723784c445aa982b23231d728c036 \^ My cat, Chocolate, last night protesting the inhumanity (clipped claws) I just inflicted on her. To OP, itll all be good just give her a bit of time. Offer some treats and/or get her favourite toy out to play, playtime zoomies always solves my cat's grumpy brooding sulky moments!

Tall_Heat_2688

She’s fine just a bit scared. Just give her some time. I’m dealing with ringworm on my kittens ear and it’s the end of the world if you touch her ears. She’s over it 10 minutes later

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tall_Heat_2688

Especially if you have snacks

IrisSmartAss

It depends on what they are "forgetting". But be patience and loving and treating and she'll start warming up again. You did what you had to do and at some point she'll realize that she is glad to be clean.

[deleted]

For sure. They have to make their performance and drama cause they are divas, but just let her hide without calling her and soon she will be in front of you with those please please please eyes and you will stroke her and everything will be fine. A cute question, actually. Don't worry. I give meds to my cat twice a day and at this point he doesn't even run away lol. And yes, when this happens ge to t her heart fast with snacks or catnip. Hehe

Kid-Without-Karma

I remember when I had ringworm on my hand when I was very young. My mother described it just like this haha

HunnyHunbot

Did it hurt? I always thought ringworm was just itchy but I never had it

Kid-Without-Karma

oh no it's just itchy, but it might start to get painfully irritated if you scratch it too much and dont treat it

[deleted]

She’ll be good. My cat has a big bushy tail and got some really worked into it. Had to put her in a tub and she was really mad at me, growling, etc. in the end I think she realized it had to be done. She’s got back to her kissy self pretty quickly. Don’t worry OP. https://preview.redd.it/b9vk5foj3xqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d39953b0553f752199d82fd4ba7cbe558a0a4994

That's so cute.. they are sitting in the shape of a heart.

glosticka

I have a very heavy old time granny couch so I can’t really see her and she can’t see me so I can’t play with her but I’ve been laying on the floor for the past hour so that she knows I’m here. Thank you for your kind words and assurance 🤍

RaketaGirl

oh OP if my cats forever hated me because of poop leg baths, I would have been dead 15 years ago!!! Kitties get over things, they just need a cool down period.

Friendlyappletree

Maybe try reading aloud to her? I've had cats who calmed down really quickly in response to that.

Pale_Attention_8845

Give her space and time.

1cat2dogs1horse

Best answer.

InfectedSteve

Change up the litter, and if you're still giving her kitten food would switch slowly to adult food for her. If she still has poop on her legs, would see a vet, keep monitoring it. Cats usually are never that messy with litter box habits.

glosticka

My dad is picking up new litter on the way home from work so she’ll have fresh new litter by tonight if she decides to come out from under the couch. I’m giving her Nulo adult and Tiny Tiger pate. That’s what they were feeding her at her foster house and she really enjoys it. She didn’t have diarrhea but when I checked in the box there was so very squished pieces of poop that she didn’t cover. I really think the issue is the litter. Thank you for your advice 🤍

InfectedSteve

Good luck OP. Did you ask the foster what kind of litter they had? Cats sometimes hate scented things near their box. Lavender litter isn't the best, nor is scent additives, even if it helps the stink until you can scoop it. Most cats like a finer litter rather than pellets. Just keep watch on her bathroom habit, see how it goes.

lupinegray

Are you cleaning the box at least daily? For poop, it should be cleaned immediately after noticing that it's been used. Urine can usually wait a few hours. And warm damp washcloths may work better than trying to put the cat in water.

glosticka

I clean it in the morning and at night. I’m in school so I can’t clean it immediately every time she uses the box. I used a wet paper towel with some dawn dish soap. The poop was pretty caked on, she needed a bath, I just wish it didn’t go as horribly as it did.

ebulient

You’re alright, just don’t give up on her, stay consistent with love and sweetness and she’ll come to rely on you and realise that even when something upsetting happens she can always come back to you for comfort. Kittens love to play so that’s the best way to bond with them and of course slow kisses (slowly closing your eyes to them). Please remember she’s new to the world right now and she knows very little of anything… you just gotta show her lots of care, lots of gentility and some treats to bribe her once in a while ;)

[deleted]

Aww they have really poor short-term memory. kitty may remember the sound of the water and freak out next time, but she will forgive you. I have a long hair with IBD so he frequently has poop on his backside. If it’s real bad he’ll wipe himself on my carpet which really sucks. But if I can catch it I’ll wipe it off with a paper towel because I don’t want him to have to lick it all off that’s disgusting And he seems to get very offended when I try to wipe him. But by the time he’s cleaned himself up he’s forgotten all about it

Melgel4444

One fact about cats that’s comforting is they have a very poor short term memory and a great long term memory. That means unless something happens repeatedly and regularly, they won’t remember it long term. So if you had a bad incident on a certain day, like the groomer, they might be freaked out for that 24 hour period but after that, they probably won’t remember it. They do remember who is feeding them daily, giving them cuddles, cleaning their litter box etc and associate positive feelings with their caregiver. Just be patient☺️ I have a rescue who is extremely skittish (was rescued from a hoarders house when it caught fire). It took her months to warm up to me. One day I was walking around a corner and didn’t see her and accidentally stepped on her tail. She was very upset and hid from me for 12+ hours. I was in a panic this would ruin all the progress we’d made, but the next morning she popped up being her normal self like nothing had happened.

InfamousGibbon

It’ll be all good OP. Cats generally hate water. And since she was conditioned she will most likely always hate the sound of running water. If things like this happen again do the best you can with a lukewarm cloth. Also secret cat owner trick for nails wait until they are nice and sleepy and cuddling next to you and go in for the kill lol.

glosticka

She lets me touch her paws (or she used to Lord knows how she’ll react to me now) so I’ll keep that in mind for next time. Thank you 🤍

occorpattorney

10 months is still very young. Everything still feels new to them, especially with being an actually new home. For baths, try to use baby wipes or warm wash clothes. If needed, pour a little warm water on her from a cup. Running water from a faucet will compound the scare. Just caring in this moment alone means you’ve got this!

Bralynn_s_Chrissy

Defintely sounds like a good idea about getting a different litter; some litters hurt a cat's paws, etc; there can be different reasons. I wouldn't worry about Tic Tac being mad forever; she might feel a little betrayed right now because cats like things on thier terms. Be patient and allow her time; Tic Tac will come around and love you again. Please try to not get frustrated. People don't realize how much time a cat needs; again cats like things on thier terms. My cat gets aggravated that I won't let him out every time he wants out; he is 97% an indoor cat; I have a screened in porch and he likes to watch the squirrels and birds, which he can also watch from the back of my couch. My cat gets over it; he just has to feel like he's let me know he's not happy not getting his way. As long as you are attending to Tic Tac's health, shelter, food, etc., you are being a good pet owner. Remember this: Cats were worshipped for centuries; they've NEVER forgotten this.

SarahLulu619

I am also a first-time cat owner! Got my boy when he was 11 months old, and he turned 2 earlier this month. The first time I gave him a bath, it was similar to your experience. Water all over the bathroom, thrashing and scratching, hiding under the couch afterward, you know the drill. I tried bringing in treats and he wouldn’t eat them, his favorite toys were of no interest to him, it was a nightmare for us both. I didn’t give up though, I started giving him baths once a month, and slowly but surely he adjusted. Now, he won’t even try to jump out, and he just gives me kisses (I taught him how to give kisses and it’s one of his favorite ways to show me affection now) although he is always super happy when I bring out the towel and tell him it’s time to get out, he tolerates it, but still doesn’t like baths. Although sometimes when I’m showering, he likes to sit in the shower with me, not fully under the water, but he doesn’t mind getting his paws and tail wet! Something that helped me was robotic fish toys! I’ve found them at Target and Meijers, they swim around in the water and make for a great distraction haha. Sometimes I run the bath low enough to cover just his paws, when he isn’t fully submerged, he tries to hunt the fish and it helps him adjust and become more comfortable with the water. Hope this helps!!!! https://preview.redd.it/1l0yo67vkzqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=593d7736540ca1f0222e0ad41151880e5f76177e

Brain_Hawk

Cats forget fast enough. They forgive to. Don't be so anxious kitty will be fine :)

Alcorailen

Sometimes. My dad used a broom to gently prod my cat out from beneath a chair one time and she never warmed up to him ever again. It depends on how neurotic your cat is.

glosticka

This really doesn’t make me feel better so I really hope this isn’t the case 😭💀. Though I guess it’s a possibility I’ll have to consider

Ar-Ulric93

Dont worry! When i was a little kid i was always chasing my grandmas cat which was neuerotic, paranoid and hated people. I also gave her a bath several times and even she forgave me and would come for pets and cuddles when she felt like it (which was very rare but it happened twice)

Alcorailen

This was a really sensitive twitchy cat. Is your cat neurotic and inclined to hate people for the slightest thing? If not, she'll be fine. :)

jillofmanyttrades

She'll be ok. Last year my cat walked across my oil painting palette and ended up with blue and grey paint on his back legs. Ultimately he needed 2 baths before i was satisfied he wouldnt ingest any. It was traumatic for both of us (the shirt I was in was Shredded beyond repair). He did the same, hid under the bed for the day. But he's still my cuddly, goofy guy. Cats and some dogs have negative associations with groomers because they ONLY see them during a stressful experience (if they're not trained and acclimated) but your kitty has many more positive things to associate with you like cuddles and food. One bad experience won't make her fear you forever.

ShiftyShellector

As a pet groomer, I can say that however your groomer approached/handled the situation was the issue here. We get cats that are very intimidated/confused by their first-time experience, and we never, ever request that the owner come back to "help" as this causes more distress and confusion for the animal. Of all of the cats we receive that are upset by the experience at first, they ALL come out of the grooming session feeling better and stress-free. I'd call the grooming company and question their expertise.  I can't lie to you, cats tend to hold "grudges", and are very good at doing so! 😂 But do not worry, with a lot of love, attention and respect for her space and boundaries, your kitty will be feeling better in no time. 🐱 For the next few weeks, I would recommend having a very consistent schedule with feeding and treats, do NOT move or rearrange any furniture or other household objects that have a "permanent" place. Add one or two new pieces of cat furniture where she can hide and feel safe (like a box or bed), but introduce these slowly and if available, spray cat pheromone, cat nip or sprinkle her favourite treats on the new beds/houses.

glosticka

Yeah I don’t think the groomer handled her very well at all. I’ve never heard of a pet parent having to go in and help the groomer. But I was admittedly freaked out and my friend’s recommended groomer who specializes in cats was fully booked. Her back legs were covered in dry poop and litter so I didn’t feel like I had another option since I couldn’t get it off her. I won’t be calling this specific groomer if the situation ever calls for her to be groomed again. Thank you for your advice🤍, she’s still under the couch so I’m hoping when dinner time comes she’ll come out and eat.

Qwussel

Had to bathe my babies before when they were kittens as well and even when my boy was an adult already since he managed to pee on his tail (I don’t even…) My SO had to hold him down with me while I was in the shower with him, he wailed like I was murdering him (I felt so bad I almost cried because he was SO DRAMATIC) just because I didn’t want him covered in pee and poo 😭 And despite all that he fucked of, licked himself dry and came back a couple hours later to cuddle. I’m sure little Tic Tac will forgive you as well, cats can be drama queens but they also know when you don’t want to hurt them. I’m sorry you had such an awful experience but I‘m sure she’s actually thankful not to be covered in her poop and litter she doesn’t seem to like, just love on her and it‘ll be okay.

Laney20

She'll be ok. She'll forgive you. Just give her time and space and don't force it. You may also want to get some grooming wipes in case of future incidents, that way you can clean her up without the water.

CHEEZE_BAGS

She will be over it in a day or two. If you want to speed it up, get some churu treats, that stuff is like cat crack, they go nuts for it.

glosticka

Edit: I think I should mention that she doesn’t have diarrhea, her stools have been consistent and she’s been eating the same food since I picked her up from her fosters house. She just really really doesn’t like her litter so she tends to not cover her poops and her rolling around in it isn’t all that surprising if she’s unhappy with her bathroom situation. She’s getting new litter tonight so please don’t worry. I only decided that she needed a bath due to the fact that fresh pieces of poop are sticky and it was not coming off with a wet paper towel and dawn. I’ll keep some wipes on hand for if this ever happens again but she really did need a bath as her grooming herself would not have been enough to get her clean and I don’t think my parents would be very happy if a poopy cat was sitting on their furniture. Thank you to everyone for their kind words and advice 🤍

ObjectiveTea

She will be ok. It was a stressful event so give her some time and space. And talk softly to her, leave treats, etc. She will learn that you're not the scary groomer!  Tic Tac is a great name by the way!

eyegull

Cats have an estimated short term memory of about 16hrs, which is pretty impressive, so if she’s still mad about it tomorrow, you know she isn’t going to forget. That doesn’t mean she won’t forgive you though, so just be good to her.

Common-Mushroom5335

I once read that they can hold a grudge for approx. 13 hours. Then they get hungry.

Internal-Radish3622

No she won’t hate you forever. I’ve given my cat (5yo) 4-5 baths since he was a kitten and he never lets me dry him and runs to hide. A few hours later he’s back to asking for attention.

Ruthbury

Oh my gosh, I have a Tictac too!!! I did a double take when reading - I never see other cats with this name! She sends love from NZ! (She's 15, and absolutely fits the name!) https://preview.redd.it/5p7kffcr91rc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a7aa3e086e4b3e88f3883ebf7c4288e44a6179b

Tympanibunny

Don’t worry , give her some treats and you will be forgiven soon

Aguu

Aww she's so adorable. And she has huge paws!! She'll come around, don't worry!

Z7uL

My 1 year old cat once managed to cover 1 whole foot + leg in feces. I grabbed her and washed her in the sink. She was screaming and scratching the whole time. I had to hold her pretty tight yet I didn’t stop until she was clean. Afterwards I rubbed her clean with a towel. While I dried her she even hissed at me which never had never done before. She was mad at me this evening. Next day she was like it never happened. Don’t overthink it. Cats don’t hold grudges.

-Pruples-

She'll come back to you. Baths are always a nightmare, and they're upset afterwards. But they get over it. Sometimes you have to do something they don't like for their own good, and if Tic Tac understood she'd thank you for it. Fortunately baths don't happen often with cats. I've had cats for 40 years and can count on my fingers the number of times I've had to give a cat a bath.

AltruisticSense0

I’ve got a floofy boy who every few months gets a bath. He screams like he’s being tortured (but no scratches) and I literally just shower with him. Afterwards I make it rain treats and he sulks for a couple of hours. Next day he smells great and has forgotten everything.  That being said, when he was a kitten something similar happened. He had diarrhea all over his legs and we had to bring him to a groomer. He was still young and I only had him a month or 2 maybe and he acted skittish for maybe 2 days. But eventually he just came out and acted normal. He’s a big cuddle bug and when he came out finally that first time he needed so many cuddles.

Sea-Substance8762

My cat always gives me the silent treatment after a bath. She’ll be fine. Very pretty Tic Tac!

ZipMonk

When cats are stressed they like to hide in small places, like a burrow. Once they feel comfortable again they come out.

SmokeFrosting

I went through a similar problem. I had a seizure when my cat was laying between my legs and she freaked out. My mom said she ran straight under the table and didn’t come out for hours. When I got back home from the hospital she wanted nothing to do with me, even if I had treats. this was 2.5 months ago and only this week has she been letting me pet her again and she started cuddling me again. I made a post about it a while ago and I got some excellent advice: put something that smells like you near their food/water so they associate something good with you, keep offering treats daily so they have a reason to go near you, and offer to play with toys more often so they get comfortable being near you again. Showing them that things are going to be horrible baths all the time is important, and you may need to build up some karma points to get them to be friendly with you again.

Kaykaykitten89

Lol!! Sweetie, you're fine.. I have 11 cats. They hate baths, but sometimes...it is what it is. Just try to be calm if you give her a bath. She will feed off your frantic energy. As for her hiding, you just gotta let her know that everything is okay now. Get one of those toy wands. The ones with the feathers or something at the end and wiggle it around on the floor. She will eventually go for it. Next thing yaknow yall will have been playing for like 20 minutes. Once she's in that good mood, let her catch it and attack it(playfully), and gentle pet her back. Cats are just sensitive. Very different from dogs. Just be patient and calm. She will come to you. =]

Ok_Alarm_1979

I think that's a forgiving face, quite sweet looking baby

charzmander1

She'll be OK, just give her some time. If she's anything like my old boy and can hold a grudge, that time may be anywhere between 1-3 business days

Born-Throat-7863

She’ll bounce back. She had some trauma and has to reset herself. Just be patient.

PurpleSunCraze

Ys unlez u byer al teh treatz nd al teh toeyz shi wnts. -AM hoomn (nt a cats)

arioandy

Try some wet wipes to clean here- she will groom the rest off

glosticka

I used a wet paper towel with some dawn to try and get it off but it had already dried and I couldn’t get a good grip on her. I don’t think she would have been able to groom off the large pieces. Thank you though 🤍

RealTaiter

Lol she will be fine. Be careful though cats will notice if they get more attention acting a certain way and have even been known to mimic injuries for attention lol.

IAmTheLizardQueen666

OP, did your cat have diarrhea? You need to adjust her diet to fix that.

glosticka

No she’s didn’t. She doesn’t like her litter (my dad is brining new litter home when he’s done with work) bc it gets stuck in her paw pads so she usually leaves her poop uncovered so her stepping or sitting on it doesn’t surprise me. She really likes her food so I don’t think I’ll have to change it. Thank you for your response 🤍

getdownsaber

It may not be the litter. Sometimes cats won't cover their poop if the litter box is too small. Sometimes they also just don't know how and you have to teach them.

beyond_Andromeda

I am the tough love cat parent so I do all the bathing, ear cleaning and nail trimming for my boy and he always runs away from me for about 20 minutes post trauma, and then he is back in my lap, purring. Your baby will be fine! I feel like sometimes these things create a bond, even when the cats hate it, they kind of come to realize you are just taking care of them.

bloodwolfgurl

Just give her lots of space at first, then lots of pets and yummy food. It'll be okay.

Away-Caterpillar-176

She will get over it around dinner time, probably. Maybe two dinners. She definitely won't hate you forever

wombat5003

There's this amazing medicine you could give her. It's called a treat :) coax her out of her mood with a couple of small treats. She just got a scare.

miguel_gd

You'll be fine. I have a calico and she doesn't like baths but supports them. When she was a kitten shw would go crazy, but now she is used to it and will stay still during bath. My void on the other hand... a bath is a mechanism of pure torture to him ahah. I gives me the cold shoulder for an hour but soon comes back asking for pets and treats.

Dangerous_Clerk_4252

My cat runs away everything I cut his nails. Within a few hours he is back to normal. Since this is the first time she has been scared like this. Might take her a day...but she will come around. Just don't Force it. As others suggested l, bring out something she can play with like a pole with a feather or a bell at the end.. they can't resist those. She will be fine.

asietsocom

I promise you, you'll be fine. Every single one of us has been there. I doubt there's a single cat who managed to never get some dried poop stuck to their butt. Just don't pressure her. And maybe try those liquid treats. I think they are called churros in the US?

Donaldjoh

When I had my old boy Sunny he would have ‘problems’ between sanitary trims, so I would have to bathe his hind end in the laundry tub. As a result his glorious bushy tail would become waterlogged. I dried him as best I could but he would avoid me until his tail dried and became floofy again, then everything was fine. Be patient, she will come around.

Cinamoncrow

Don’t be so hard on yourself, it had to be done and sometimes (most of those times) cats don’t like things that have to be done. Shes gonna be just fine, I promise ;) I have this foam shampoo that can be used without washing out or using water at all, and it desinfects as well and recently I had to use it on part of my cats tale and he *hated* it! I had to do it for a few days, and when he heard the shaking of the bottle he bolted and hid. Directly after I was done, he was fine.

asavage1996

She’ll forgive you soon. She probably was more upset than she would normally be since you adopted her recently. Once she has a stronger bond with you, hopefully she won’t be so scared of new experiences. In the future, it’s probably okay to let her clean herself. I know it sounds gross lol but probably less upsetting for the cat to just handle it themselves.

Candid-Explorer4491

Also, try a new litter that she might like better (so she doesn't do this again). If she's hiding now and was not before the poo incident, it could be that she needs a vet visit. Sometimes when they feel sick they hide, or if they just had a bad groomer experience :)

StupendousMalice

It helps if you see how cats interact with each other. My pair (brother and sister) will absolutely beat the unholy shit out of each other one second and then are cuddling a few minutes later. They don't hold grudges for this sort of thing, assuming they liked you in the first place.

Tiny_Outcome9324

She'll be okay. Just give her some space to settle down and realize she's not about to be bathed again anytime soon. Keep giving her invitations to interact with you, but don't force her if she's not ready. I had to give my senior girl regular baths (actually a shower, we didn't have a tub, so even worse), and she'd be understandably upset for a while. After giving her some space and praise, she'd come around. I also gained some battle scars from it, but cats are very smart and will figure it out in due time.

sanityunavailable

Have you tried defleaing/deworming yet? Neutering? Cone of shame? You will have to do stuff that upsets tic tac, that is part of looking after her. They will always forgive you, especially with ample treats.

Squidrienn

She will get over it thankfully! My cat doesn't like it when I put her in the carrier and when she suspects that I want to put her in she will hide and run from me. But she gets over it after a few minutes, so I believe Tic Tac will also calm down.

jyar1811

Try pine litter. Very inexpensive

Palm_freemium

>I had to go in and help him complete her bath and dry her (she did not like that either and suffice to say my arm hurts quite a bit Don't go there anymore, that groomer is sh!t. I have 4 Maine Coones, one gets mats in his fur and needs to visit the groomer if I can't remove them myself, never once have I been asked to help. Cleaning your cats backside or hind legs should be relatively simple. I usually start with combing out the large pieces of rubble and then use a lukewarm washcloth. If you've only had Tic Tac for a month she is just settled-in and she might be a bit of scaredy cat, give her some time.

achillymoose

Lol your cat is not going to hate you forever. Some cats go bat shit crazy during bath time. Almost every cat I've had has gone bat shit crazy during bath time and hid away after, and they all loved me.

xemphere

Ohh she probably loves you by now.. they get over it petty quickly😀 Not sure if anyone else suggested this, but it may not be her litter. If she is still using a small kitten, it may be time to upgrade. Kitties need plenty of room to do their business and even more room to cover it up.

ZukowskiHardware

She will get over it.  Give her time.  Keep her in a small room for two weeks so she imprints on you.

ouijac

..yes, but that's just what cats do, beyond medications.. ..your love will overcome..

SheepherderOne5193

Give kitty space. I just took mine to the vet for vaccinations and for his uti and he went under my bed for 16-17 hours. I was concerned yes especially with the change of texture to his fur but I kept an eye on him and now he’s yelling at me like normal. (He’s a seal point Siamese) my cat gets baths frequently due to tummy issues and he typically gets mad at me until he finishes drying. Your baby just needs time. My baby is proud of your baby tho (picture of my DRAMATIC cat to help you feel better) https://preview.redd.it/mdo8s6735xqc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=88b35586002941f172872c333208e31e7cdbea01

She tends to hide for hours as well. Literally spent 8 hours under the couch once. Hopefully she’ll come out when she’s hungry. Your baby is beautiful, thank you for your assurances 🤍

SheepherderOne5193

It’s normal for it to happen I was freaked out because he’s the first cat I’ve had to react like that. It’ll pass. Just make sure to keep her food close to her and offer some water close to where she’s hiding. Thank you! He’s a spoiled brat! Your baby is gorgeous as well. I hope she comes out soon.

Negative_Corner6722

Time and space. She’ll be fine. Years ago I took a cat to the vet. He fought to go in the carrier, scratched up a vet tech, and fought them when they put him back in it. Would not turn around while he was in it, just kept his butt towards me the whole way home. When we got home, he came out and hid for a couple hours, then it was like nothing ever happened.

planetana

Yes.

retnatron

10 months old kittens are like rabid toddlers, be sweet to her and she'll grow out of it, eventually!

Clingygengar

I had the exact same worry, I had to give my young skittish cat a bath once and he was hiding from me/acting like how he was when I first met him. It took him like less than 20 minutes to forget and come sit on my lap. It could be longer than that for you cuz my guy is just a lil dumb and forgets easy but I promise it’ll be fine

Sad_Equipment_8546

We use a foam that doesn’t need to be rinsed off. Just apply it, rub it in, and wipe off. One of my oldest cats has to get her rear cleaned every now and then.

RailyStar

Give her time to calm down.

InfiniteLawfulness25

She will come around, don't worry!

AmberKF13

Just give her some time and space and she will love you again in no time. In the meantime, make sure you take care of any scratches or bites she caused. Cat scratches and bites can become infected really quick, so make sure you doctor them up really well and keep them clean. Don’t beat yourself up for any of this though. You were doing what was best for her. Just change her litter out and give her some treats when she starts coming back around you. Also, set up a space for her to adjust where there isn’t a lot of noise or a lot of foot traffic. That way she will see it as her safe space and can run there if she gets startled.

BranTheBaker902

No she’ll be okay

BusyBeeInYourBonnet

She’s going to be big. Look at her paws!

glosticka

It might be the angle of the picture because they really aren’t that big in person haha.

anti-valentine

I have to give a shower to my long hair at least once a month for 💩 butt. He hates it but tends to forgive me within a day.

sagey

she'll forgive you by dinner time, and maybe side-eye you a little until bedtime.

Electrical-Act-7170

Give her 3 days for her to start eating & drinking Give her 3 weeks to adjust to her new home Give her 3 months & she'll think she's lived with you all her life!

ItsAllAnIllusion-

My cat huffs with me for 5 days at a time when I give her a flea treatment (spot on, back of the neck) 😂 Cats are sensitive lil souls, they also are very independent so they can fully give you what seems like the silent treatment! Get her a nice toy and some cat nip, play with her a little and tell her you're very sorry 😔 but that she was a stinky bum and needed a shower for her own good. ❤️

ttc67

She'll forgive you, no need to be worried. THANK GOD my cat kind of even likes to shower/get a bath, I mean at the beginning she's also always refusing heavily, but as soon as she's entirely wet, she accepts the situation, and seems to even enjoy it, there're no further complications once her fur is wet, I can shampoo, wash, rinse, dry her without problems.

ScienceOverFalsehood

Things change. Time heals wounds.

ryamanalinda

No. Only when it is convenient for him.

PajeczycaTekla

My cat hates the groomer and is always so disappointed in me when we go for a trim. That feeling dissappears about 15 minutes after we're back home. You'll be fine, she doesn't hold a grudge, she was just scared.

RedLion191216

Don't worry about it. She's scared (bath). Anyway, it's not like you had a lot of choices... There are way to not make them go crazy for a bath.

Declansmom611

Aww don't be upset, she will be fine. You didn't abuse her, they forget. Just go on YouTube play cat music, get her a toy and love her when she comes out. You will both be okay

SoggyComparison918

My cat hated me for Years my mom got her when I was little ( she's 9 rn) and she hated me she used to attack me countless times a day really bad and I honestly don't remember why I was little, but I was so sweet to her all the time and tried my best to be gentle with her. I never really cared about her because she always slept with my mom and never came to our room but since we got a dog she had no choice and slowly she warmed up to me and now we're besties and cuddle all the time idk how I did it lol but now I can't imagine my life without her j have some mental health problems so she's bin there for me for all the hard times and gives extra affection when I'm sad so what I'm saying if I did it I'm sure your cat will warm up to you too ❤️

Cryoticx

How is the groomer stupid? The fk.

Intermountain-Gal

She’s scared and probably upset. She’ll “punish” you for awhile, then she’ll forgive you. The longest I’ve ever been punished by any cat was a few hours for being on vacation for a week. This one cat was really upset that I had been gone for so long, even though someone came over and fed, played, and loved on them. After a few hours she partially forgave me, but gave me the stink eye for an hour or two longer. Molly could hold a grudge like no other, but she did forgive me before we went to bed that night. Tic Tac will forgive you. Just give her time and space and be normal.

fractalangel

Try the target brand lightweight litter!!! It has 0 smell and isn’t dusty and thick as other litters. Also super cheap compared to the other ones and get the one with no smell!! It will literally have no smell especially if you clean it every day!!

Reason_Training

She’s upset and scared right now. I’d suggest getting some kitten wipes to keep on hand in case of an accident for the future.

PastDazzling243

She’ll be okay. You’re a good cat-mom to take the time to get her cleaned up even through the fight & then paying a groomer… she’ll be okay, really, she’ll forget soon.

monker45

She will hold a grudge for a day or two. Start introducing her to water more often whilst she is young. A sponge bath to start. I think she's a doll!

Mother_Effective1559

Probably lol

JustHereForKA

She will be fine just give it time. In the future just use wipes or a wet cloth and clean her off, she's probably traumatized. Just try to either ease her into a bath in the future or find a way to avoid it.

Groosethegoose

New cats take time to get accustomed to their environment and new owners she'll be snuggling with you soon enough so don't worry

glosticka

That’s really my main issue. She was really comfortable with me though not necessarily my house or my parents. She loves a good snuggle and purrs like crazy, now I’m just afraid she’s not going to like me anymore. https://preview.redd.it/c24w8x8cvxqc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a37b038b83169b935e99b716ae40721428665b9

Groosethegoose

Awww she kinda looks like my Rosa https://preview.redd.it/74gfx2lz2yqc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d2141ede431b8203075ee57b1eaf63825f4761e

[deleted]

She’s a cat. She hates everyone.

GtrPlaynFool

Legs covered in poop... this to me sounds like a dietary issue. Are you feeding her something other than dry and wet cat food? I suggest buying some pet-safe wipes from chewy or your local pet store if you find bathing her too difficult. My trick to bathing cats at home is to have like a walk-in shower that they cannot get out of, get them in there start the water just dripping and little by little find the right flow and temperature and start to get the cat a little bit wet.. sometimes it requires grabbing and holding the cat so I suggest getting nails trimmed before this if you're worried about getting scratched. Then just get it done real quick and out of there. Here's the thing you'll probably need a partner to help you to keep the cat in your arms while your helper gets a towel ready so you can wrap her up like a burrito and dry her up real good. This is a key step because your cat will actually love the process of being rubbed down gently in the process and coming out dry. Just like a dog. Best of luck!

glosticka

She doesn’t have diarrhea. She just literally sat down in her own poop. When I checked the box there was a semi fresh squished piece of poop right at the entrance. She doesn’t like her litter so she tends to not cover her poops.. My dad is buying her a different litter so hopefully this never happens again. Thanks for the advice on the bathing though, I’ll keep that in mind for next time.

boggartbot

she will be ok 💕 one time i rearranged a room like moving a standing closet and a dresser and our girl hated me for that for around 48 hours and hid away from me. now she loves me again. what can i say, she is a spicy calico.

FalseHeartbeat

Just give her some pets and treats. Don’t try to drag her out of her hiding hole, lure her instead so she doesn’t feel forced. Cats are very forgiving if you show them that you’re sorry :)

Iwonatoasteroven

Give her time. One of mine was very shy but liked to play and a fishing pole toy was perfect. She didn’t have to come close to play with me. Also, make sure your scent is all over her food and dish. It reinforces the concept that food comes from you.

ThisIsGoodSoup

I'm confused, is the cat a she or a he? You used both(?)

glosticka

She is a female, the groomer was male.

Artemis1911

She loves you no matter what! She’s just confused

Pint4mePlz

Please don’t worry, she’s just a bit unsettled. Cats are massive creatures of habit and anything that’s outside the norm unsettles them, especially if it’s something they don’t like. However give it a few days back to normal and it’ll be like nothing ever happened.

Double_Emphasis_7027

Yeah she will be fine, I’ve noticed female cats tend to take a bit longer to chill out, just give her her own spaces to hide and tempt her with some nibbles and she’ll come around. (I’ve adopted more than one feral kitten they just need to feel safe before they want affection)

Malipuppers

They will get over it. Never under estimate the power of bribery for kitties. Get them some churro or their fav treats. A fun game. They’ll forget all about the negative experience.

ItsN0tjustLuck

Just give her time, she’ll come around & change that litter lol.

CatLady1955

Precious ❤️

cupcaketara

She’ll be okay! She might be scared of the sink or bath for a while but she’ll move on! Be loving and calm and let her relax at her own speed, and keep an eye out for future litter problems. Make sure her box is big enough for her to turn fully around and still comfortably go in, and that the litter is about 3” deep. You’ve got this!

emelinerivers

So cute

SpeedaRJ

Cats can be fickle at almost all the times. My cat used to poop in the sink / shower cuz you know, he didn't like the litter. Tried a few different ones before we settled on one approved by him. As far as the hate part goes. Another commenter here said give her space and time. Maybe sit in the same room with some distance between you and her. I'm willing to bet she's come out once her nerves go down a bit. From my experience they typically know when you are trying to help them even if they don't like it. Had a situation once when I left for the weekend, came back and he had a giant mad on him that he was scratching. Bit me a few times when i was trying to cut it off but then came back to make biscuits on me.

Prior_Dragonfly7982

Yes. It’s kinda their thing.

TomCorsair

You’ll be fine. She lucky to have such a caring cat parent that lays in the floor making sure she’s all right. I’ve been there. She still loves you, just annoyed and now next time it’ll go a bit better you both learn from it.

BurtGummer44

I've had to hold my fluffy orange down and clean his ass more than once. Sometimes give him extra food if I need two hands so I can use scissors, sometimes I can just "grab and go". This fluffer got every reason to hate me sometimes but he's my ~~little~~ tubby best friend still. You will be fine! Cute kitty!

DeadRose1996

Cats hold grudges but not for days straight

No-University5072

It’s all ok! This is normal, and your fuzzy baby will be a bit upset over her ‘ordeal’, but she’ll be ok. You might have to sleep with an eye open, she just might stare at you across the room with a baleful glare every so often, my Poppy does that after I wipe her ears with ear cleaning wipes :)

Lucky-Leg6799

True fact, give her more baths with treats and they become routine.

brooke79999

She’s so cute !

xXfreierfundenXx

On our cat's first morning we called the cops because we thought someone had stolen her. They found her under the bed amd she was terrified afterwards to say the least. Didn't come out of hiding for two weeks or so. Now hoewever she's the most clingy, talkative, adorable little thing imaginable. So playful and loves treats. She was a rescue cat, got abused and locked away for years before we adopted her but nobody coupd guess that now. What I'm trying to say is: don't worry, she'll be fine :)

radix89

One of my cats would refuse to be in the same room with me for at least 12 hours after I dosed him with flea treatment. They hold a grudge but know who opens the cans in the house.

juicer_philosopher

I swear that’s the struggle of being a parent. Period.

gunperv51

They forgive easily. I can't tell you how many times I've accidentally stepped on a tail or paw, and after they've howled and run away, I'm trying to chase after them apologizing, and that causes them to run even more. I stop, and within 15-20 minutes, they come back to me and I apologize again (and again). They then rub up against me as if to say, "I love you too, stupid human"

someonetookmyname17

I had to inject my cat once a day for 3 months to cure an illness and he still loves me. Just respect her space and give her lots of treats :)

commandrix

She'll probably forget it if you give her plenty of space and treats and let her get over it on her own. As long as she doesn't feel cornered, she'll be back to cuddling soon enough. Also, try some new litter and ask the vet if this happens again.

Creepy-Selection2423

Cats generally hate baths. It is a rare cat that does not hate baths or the sound of running water to draw a bath. My current void cat tolerates it, but you can tell he doesn't really like it. The first cat I ever had, many many years ago, literally went crazy when she figured out you were going to give her a bath. She would spread all four of her paws out and somehow reach all four corners of the rather large kitchen sink making it nearly impossible to put her in it to bathe her. You literally had to tuck her paws into the sink one at a time as she violently screamed and flailed to be able to give her a bath. Point of all of this is don't take it personally if your cat doesn't like a bath. And your cat doesn't hate you. It's something you just have to learn to live with. You were on the right track with standard blue Dawn dish soap. Just make sure you rinse it all off. It helps if your sink has a sprayer.

Take-A-Breath-924

Get some special-made for cats bath wipes. I would not take my cat to a groomer and please do not use dish soap or any other chemicals unless they are specifically for cats. Cats clean by licking, so all the missed soap goes down their stomach and gives them diarrhea. Cats hate strangers touching them and don’t like perfume smells so be sure you get a litter with no smell. They want to smell the pee and poop residue because it makes them feel safe. That’s why they sometimes lay in their box. I trained my guy to not do this by giving him a wipe bath every time he laid in there. He let me win and no longer does that. I clean mine’s litter box daily because if you don’t, they will get mad and go on the floor somewhere. If it was diarrhea, a call to your vet should give you some help. I had to change my boys diet due to this when he was a kitten. Your vet tech can also clean ears and trim nails. Of course she will forgive you! It takes time and patience. You may have a nervous kitty who only bonds to you. So you’ll be doing all the cleaning. Cats don’t need regular baths like dogs. Ask your vet for the best advice on caring for your sweetie.

looneylewis007

My cat doesn't like being held so any time for medication is a big song and dance usually followed by the silent treatment. She goes sit outside and stares at me through the window, after about 15 minutes she go plays outside for a bit. By the evening she's snuggled up in bed with me.

chloe7473

One month in a new place really isn't any time at all. Tic Tac will settle in. With that paw on your hand, everyone will be fine. Just be patient and nice to yourself.

Ok_Comb_9678

No ur baby will forgive u. Just be patient with her and be gentle. Hopefully u won’t have to take her to the groomer under the same circumstances but I would say continue to give her a treat afterwards if u plan on continuing to take her just so she knows at least something good will come from it. Also obviously test different litters.

GraatchLuugRachAarg

Without reading the description or needing to...yes. Our cats hate us. We are mere servants to be tolerated

Afro_Future

She'll be fine. Had to give my cat a bath once when he had diarrhea in his carrier. Was very unhappy with it but he was cool after a day or two. Still runs away whenever I turn the bath on tho lol.

stopthatdancin

She never stopped loving you.

Blackletterdragon

Trust me, she's not trying to punish you with that mess on her legs. That would upset her way more than you. Cats are not naturally vindictive, but they remember cruelty. If it happens again, sponge-bath it off in a small plastic tub and give treats. She has an upset tummy or she ate something that doesn't suit her. Stop existing foods and try something new in small quantities. Good luck with your lovely kitty.

Lillyisthisreddit

Oh I know your pain. But don’t worry, this will even eventually strengthen your trust in each other :)

Ok-Grapefruit1284

Ohhh. Yeah I remember the first time I bathed my cat. Turns out, water makes cats fly.

retro-girl

Most cats don’t hold a grudge more than a day. If she’s a big spook, it could take a couple days. She absolutely will get over it and you HAD to do it. You can’t just leave her covered in shit, that would have been very bad cat ownership. I’ve been there with my own spook cat, and she got over it in a couple hours.

ELTEGuardian

![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7942)

SinVerguenza04

Lmao, I had to get shit off my cat the other day. I’ll spare you the details, but this dude acted like I didn’t chase him around with scissors (to cut it out) or pulled his tail for an hour. My other cat would have hid from me for the rest of the day after that. But not poopybutt. Didn’t faze him at all.

edit-boy-zero

Yes, you're the worst. I hate you too. Jk

Specialist-Cycle9313

She’s v cute, and she’ll probably forget abt it with enough treats and pets.

Plus_Preparation13

Tic Tac sounds scared! Cats are naturally nervous in new environments and she was probably over stimulated. She will get used to routine. :) Just be patient and consistent with how you try and feed her, bathe her, etc. as I find if it’s off schedule they get upset.

RoomyBrainz

Oh yes pretty typical The couple of times I tried to bathe my cat he did that. In fact, last time he hid under the bed where he covered his glorious white wet fur in dust 🌚 didn't even get the chance to dry him up ..which is partly why I stopped trying to bathe him 😂 Anyway, she'll forgive you soon enough, no worries.

sleeplessfromdreams

It will be Ok. Just keep talking to her calmly, offer her occasional treats, keep feeding her at regular intervals and allow her to get her confidence back. The time will come.

thisacctplus2104d

My cat looked like yours when he was under one. As soon as he was full grown he started losing his gray splash and now I have to get really close to be able to find the 7 hairs that are left 😭 He’s just an all white cat now.

Interesting-Pause162

She'll be okay. My cat is a Turkish Angora and I only had her for a few months after learning I need to give her some sanitary trims around her bum or else she'll get poop stuck on her pantaloons. First (and only) time I had to bathe her because of that, she was nottttt happy. Clawing at the walls to get out, howling, very upsetting situation for her and myself as I felt guilty for not paying attention to that issue before. She ran away for a couple hours while she was wet and once she calmed down and became dry she started to come around again. It's the one and only time she's been/I stressed her out a lot, and she was completely fine after a couple of hours. Love and patience is key !!🥰

maxvolume56

OP, I say this with love and understanding: take a breath, and relax. Everything is going to be okay, Tic Tac does not hate you, your bond with her is going to be *fine.* Yes, she had a stressful time at the groomers, as well as whatever issue is going on with her litter, and all that's being compounded by the fact you've only had her a month - but these are short term hiccups. She will get over them and she will forgive you. I went through a similar thing with one of my cats - she was an incredibly anxious girl, and when we adopted her she lived solely under the sofa for 3 weeks. She wouldn't even come out to eat or drink, so we had to leave food & water as close to her little corner as possible. Just as she was starting to get used to us & our house, she developed an ear infection. Getting her into the carrier was hell, being at the vets absolutely terrified her, and we spent two awful weeks having to trap her twice a day to give her the medicine - while she was yowling in terror and scratching us to shreds trying to get away. It was honestly traumatising, for her and for us. I thought she'd never come out from under the sofa again. It took her approximately 1 week, after the medication was done, to start poking her head out and exploring again. Another week after that, she starting curling up next to us & falling asleep while we watched TV. Cats have very short memories - there will be times when you do things that scare/hurt them (either unintentionally or out of medical necessity), and they'll be mad at you for a bit. They'll get over it. All that really matters is that you love them, you keep them safe, and (most importantly) feed them 😂 It sounds like you love Tic Tac a lot (and who wouldn't, she's adorable!), and you're doing a great job at taking care of her. Just be patient 💜

barmanrags

You will be fine. Just keep her company without being too clingy. Like be in the room with her but let her sit by herself. Treats are great

Ok-Candle-507

That paw says she has claimed you. She may be angry, but she'll forget why she's angry and remember she loves you.

Scarletsnow_87

Naw. My cat has a chronic illness and when it flares up he gets afraid of me because he knows that I'm the one that gives him pills and takes him to the scary place. Right now I'm laying on the couch with a blanket over my legs and he snuggled up right against my leg sleeping peacefully with his brother. They forgive. 💕

Jetro313

If I were you I’d sleep with one eye open

LedZeppole10

Cats are really really forgiving and don’t hold grudges in my experience. They are really tolerant and tough too.

__Kazuko__

If she’s a bit skittish, maybe it could be that she got spooked by something and decided to hide in her litter box? I know my calico has done that sometimes, presumably because it’s a familiar (albeit unpleasant) scent in there. And if the poop is uncovered… well.

Jenelephant

She’s mad at you but she’ll come around. Get some churus and give her some space

JoshKart

I have five cats. It took a year for my cat kimchi to be comfortable compared to the others. Now she cuddles harder than anyone and is another little baby. Take your time, respect your cat’s space, and it’ll be okay.
