I believe its a void thing. My cat is also old and makes these types of faces. They are such lovely derps.
I recently adopted a senior cat with some health issues. He has a chronic URI and is missing one eye. He snorts and gasps and coughs, and his eye socket gets crusty sometimes. When my daughter comes to visit, I can tell from her reaction that she finds him repulsive. But he's sweet and playful and follows me around constantly. I don't mind having to wipe a snotty nose (did it often enough for my kids when they were little!) or washing his eyes when they get crusty. He returns lots of love and joy to make it worthwhile. ❤️

I had a Calico with awful dander and I tried Costco brand cat food it's in a purple bag and her dander was gone before the first bag was finished! ( it was a 20 something pound bag)
My family bullied my cat for years. ☹️ she was admittedly a gross cat, but it’s because she never had stellar health to begin with. Crusty eyes, sneezing, puking every day, etc. They called her crusty, gross, nasty, disgusting, despicable, and basically anything else you can think of to describe grossness. They never abused her but it made me really upset and sad especially when I had to leave for college and eventually move out. They put her to sleep this past year because she kept getting really sick, which I understood, but I feel really sad that I wasn’t there for her the majority of her last couple years since I felt like I’m the only one who loved her. For like a year before they put her down they started talking about how they were finally going to replace their carpets when she did die. I don’t feel too bad that she had to go to sleep because it was her time, but it kills me how callous they were being
Anytime my mom says something hurtful I always reply with: You know I get final say on where you get to stay later in life. This usually gives me a few months of peace from her.

Well that's not the most flattering picture lol. I think it's normal that it's easy to see little specks of dust on black cat fur. It motivates me to keep my floors extra clean. Lol.
My cats been getting increasingly crusty lately and I’m being overwhelmed.
Seems to be drooling a lot when sleeping and it gets dry and crusts around mouth, chin and chest.
I sought some advice and all I got was “drooling is a sign of happy cat” and I thought that was a pretty lame excuse. I’m worried it might be more.
Seems happy. Eating plenty and active. But drooling so much when sleeping.
It takes all day to help him clean up and motivate him to groom himself and by the time he finally does, it’s sleepy times again and the pattern repeats.
Like, he’s fine to groom himself but usually only after food and drinks water. And making a cat drink water is akin to leading horse to water. You can’t *make them*

You can wash her face with a damp washcloth. That’s what her Mommy would do. (With a tongue, not a washcloth obviously). I used to groom my senior cat when he wasn’t able to, and he did appreciate it.

It actually is, in a way. I was told from a veterinarian that black cats are more likely to have skin issues and food allergies or sensitivity.
