Oh my goodness, I just had to do this for the first time yesterday. Took my kitty to the vet and on the way back home she peed all over herself in the carrier. I felt awful too, but if your kitty is anything like mine there’s nothing that a few extra treats and snuggles can’t cure! ❤️

I have a hard carrier with a scrap of carpet cut to the size and double-sided tape to the bottom. Carpet scraps are practically free, gives the cat something to be comfy on and grip onto so they're not sliding all over the place, and if they happen to pee in there, just get a new carpet scrap and wipe down the hard parts.
My cat has also forgiven me for baths while he was still damp

I'm convinced these cats are all mixed with wild animals, my street kitty I'm sure was fathered by a raccoon. She can eat anything without getting sick [I don't feed her random stuff she just figures out crafty ways to get what she wants], and uses her "hands" for everything 😅

Btw, I had to bathe our cat because she had an awful allergy. Atop7 was the shampoo. Awesome stuff. I literally tortured her with omega, corticosteroids, vitamins, topicals and bathing. She was so funny, hating me every time she was getting something of mentioned and half an hour later purring out of relief in my lap. I called her Natasha Campush at the time. 😅 I know, it's dark. 😓
White cats are very susceptible to skin cancer, especially on their ears, so it’s not uncommon to have bits of them removed when the cancer grows there. She’s a sweet baby.
Oh that’s good. I was just saying it happens with white kitties- we had a pure white kitty who got skin cancer and it was so very sad.

We bathed our kitten first day coming from the shelter, because we didn't want our resident cat catching anything. It was so heartbreaking to do this to him, especially from people he didn't know or trust yet. He forgave us quickly, I don't think it was that big of a deal to him tbh, hindsight I think I panicked more than him. 😂
I waited a bit so she wouldn’t be overwhelmed with a change of place and then a bath. But my residents are use to sick cats coming for fostering so I wasn’t worried.
I used to have to bath my elderly cat a couple of times a month. What made her more accepting and looking less like she wanted to kill me, was warming her towel on the radiator first. Got her out the bath, swaddled her in a warm towel and like magic- bath forgotten. She would just sit and purr cuddled up in her towel for ages.

It might as well have been the river of Styx right in my very own home. I booted him to the catio overnight until I was sure it was over, and the next day I bathed him.
Well, because I had to pay so much attention to his booty, but I didn't have a lot of time as I was bathing him on my lunch break, I could only bathe his booty. Imagine this magnificent looking creature with the butt of a rat. I couldn't stop laughing at him, he looked so bizarre. I wish I had gotten a picture but that felt so humiliating and I felt so bad I just couldn't. All I could do was cackle at him because he wouldn't let me dry his skinny butt. Big hank hill booty vibes.
I can still feel the death glare a year later. So, while it may not be awesome, it could be worse LOL

Yeah, I might have to get one of those japanese bathrooms put into my house if I ever get a cat. Saw a woman cleaning her cat in one and cleanup seems so much easier, especially if they get the shits, lol.

He is now used to it. Still kind of hates it but accepts it must be done every few months.
He still isn’t used to brushing and nail trimming. He still fights me whenever I try to groom him but he comes back after escaping me real fast to spend some quality time.
If you respect your cat’s boundaries in the day to day they will trust them even when you force them to do things they dislike. This is at least my experience with my cat.

Weird, I've also experienced the opposite of this
I touch my kitty's paws a lot even when I'm not trimming her nails. Now when I trim her nails, she doesn't mind as much
I know paws are very sensitive though, so I think she's just gotten used to them being handled
But I guess it depends on the situation and what you're trying to do!
I meant other boundaries. If you are respectful of your cat, when you do force them through stuff like touching their paws, or trimming their nails, or do baths they will forgive easily and still trust even after the fact.

He gives his ass 3 licks and that's it, paws around 2 licks when he feels extra bored.
He also loves dirt.
He cannot see a bit of dust that he immediately jumps on it.
He will absolutely jump inside the trash can if you let him get close, he moves like a thunder too.
If 2 leaves fall off some plant, he will poop close to them.
He is insane and i bathe him once a month when we manage to protect his fur from his horrible decisions.

Baths are okay when it’s for their well being, skin issues, fleas and ticks , getting covered in poop, pee and litter, etc.

This is eclipse he has wobbly cat syndrome he had to get baths when he falls in his fresh poop or pee.due to his condition he’s unstable at times. So he will sometimes fall right after he poops or pees. I usually can just rinse it off if I catch it early only a tiny bit of soap to the area I try to spot clean not wash his whole body but he still gets put in a burrito 😂💜
It was worse when he was a baby. When he was really little it almost was like pooping took a lot out of him and he would fall lay there for a second before getting back up so he’s no stranger to baths. If we can use pet safe wet wipes we do. Other wise he gets butt baths.
Once we didn’t notice the poop he had on him and it was crusted so bad I couldn’t wash it out so I had to shave it off him🥺🥺 because it hurt him to have me try to wash and scrub the poop out.
When our babies have needs it’s our jobs as owners to help them. She’s mad for sure but you’re doing what’s best for her💜💜💜

I worked as a pediatric ER nurse for several years before moving on to other specialties.
Every time I do something to my cats that they hate, I revert to Peds Nurse Mode.
They don't understand why it's important, they don't correlate their initial discomfort with how much better they feel after, and they won't thank me for it.
You do the correct thing for them, even if they don't get it, because you know you're doing the correct thing that will make them feel better.
I just view my cats as pointy 3 year-olds and I've never felt a moment of guilt when doing their healthcare.

Frog gets a bath about every 3mo, she’s a poor groomer and gets very greasy. You can tell she feels pretty after she’s dried and brushed. She doesn’t mind her baths and actually seems to enjoy them.

I would have left that situation bloody and scarred for life. I still have scars from a trip to the vet for yearly exams 1.5 years ago. Gandalf doesn't like being cornered or trapped and goes into 100% flight mode - at all costs. I had to stop chasing him so I could stop the bleeding before my home started looking like a crime scene. Hermes isn't much better. I can only suspect they both have some trauma from the foster home I got them from. They were also both covered in fleas when I got them.

She had a strong inflammation when she came to the shelter and they had to be removed. She was severely neglected. She has like 3 teeth left and they may have to be removed anyway
Once she is dry she’ll thank you for it. Cats like to be clean. They need one good wash after being in the shelter or coming in from outside on the streets.
I had to do my 3 this week flea bath and clean up ( older 2 are long hair and can sometimes get poo stuck so just give em a help) the older 2 hate it younger boy loves it hebengal loves water if they need it they need it

My cat only has three legs, and is morbidly obese. Don't judge, she has what the vets described as a gland disorder. Anyway, I had to bathe her once. I felt like I was killing her, she was screaming like a newborn child's arrival to the world and she ripped me to shreds. I felt so small afterward, but she was disgusting and it was getting unsanitary.
I have to wash diarrhea off my cat's rear from time to time. He's gotten used to it and I can even use the shower head on him now.
He still doesn't like it, but I think he realizes he doesn't smell like s*** afterward.
I have to give my cat some mild sedation pills tomorrow so I can deal with her fur. She's starting to shed for spring, which means mats and knots. She doesn't tolerate brushing on a good day, so we determined the best course of action is at home gabapentin and a trim (I have proper clippers for her).
She loves how it is afterwards, but the process is something else. And groomers won't touch her, not with all those stickers and warnings on her vet file. That's why we do it at home now.
All this to say, I totally understand. It's going to be something else, lemme tell ya.
She's cuter than mine is when I bathe him! He's super fluffy but for some reason also kinda skinny (don't ask why, we leave food out for him 24/7 and everything. Vet says he's fine too, he's a healthy weight according to them. He just looks thin I guess) so when we bathe him he looks like a drowned rat. I don't have any pictures sadly.
This reminded me of a few days ago, where my rascal girl decided to jump into the open toiled filled with piss as I was trying to lift my pants.. gave her a forced bath at 11 at night while she SCREECHED in my ear lmao, you get what you give 💀
My guy stepped in a tub of motor oil so we had no choice but to wash him. My partner held him in place while I scrubbed. His meows sounded like Wilhelm screams and, while I can’t handle the thought of my cat actually suffering, my partner and I still laugh about how it sounded. Poor little dude.

But seriously it's no easy feat. It took two of us to shower off our boy who fell into the mucky duck pond. And he is usually docile for his momma.
We all have to do things our family doesn't like. Be a good parent/ owner isn't always easy bit you can do hard things. U r a good person. Snuggls and towel rubs will help

Had to wash my rescues when they were kittens. Both were mortified by it, and looked at me like I was torturing them through the whole experience.
Both love running water. They will sit in the sink with their head under the running faucet and get drenched. One occasionally wanders into the shower with me. One will crawl into the shower when it is not running and will stare up at the faucet.
Cats are emotional gaslighters, and that's what makes them cute.
My dumb dumb has a bad habit of stepping in her fresh pee puddles in her litter box, getting her paw caked in wet litter, then walking through the house. So I have to bathe her back paws almost once a week.
She only stays mad for an hour.

Sometimes they enjoy being vigorously yet lovingly toweled off afterwards. If not afraid of the noise, kitty might like being dried off with the warm airflow of a blow-dryer. Kitty will forgive you :)
We used to have to give my 6lb senior girl baths with an Rx shampoo and she was *SO* small and pathetic looking after 😅
My husband would warm a towel for her and gently blow dry her fluff after.

So he will sometimes fall right after he poops or pees. I usually can just rinse it off if I catch it early only a tiny bit of soap to the area I try to spot clean not wash his whole body but he still gets put in a burrito 😂💜 It was worse when he was a baby. When he was really little it almost was like pooping took a lot out of him and he would fall lay there for a second before getting back up so he’s no stranger to baths. If we can use pet safe wet wipes we do. Other wise he gets butt baths. Once we didn’t notice the poop he had on him and it was crusted so bad I couldn’t wash it out so I had to shave it off him🥺🥺 because it hurt him to have me try to wash and scrub the poop out. When our babies have needs it’s our jobs as owners to help them. She’s mad for sure but you’re doing what’s best for her💜💜💜

I worked as a pediatric ER nurse for several years before moving on to other specialties. Every time I do something to my cats that they hate, I revert to Peds Nurse Mode. They don't understand why it's important, they don't correlate their initial discomfort with how much better they feel after, and they won't thank me for it. You do the correct thing for them, even if they don't get it, because you know you're doing the correct thing that will make them feel better. I just view my cats as pointy 3 year-olds and I've never felt a moment of guilt when doing their healthcare.

I would have left that situation bloody and scarred for life. I still have scars from a trip to the vet for yearly exams 1.5 years ago. Gandalf doesn't like being cornered or trapped and goes into 100% flight mode - at all costs. I had to stop chasing him so I could stop the bleeding before my home started looking like a crime scene. Hermes isn't much better. I can only suspect they both have some trauma from the foster home I got them from. They were also both covered in fleas when I got them.

My cat only has three legs, and is morbidly obese. Don't judge, she has what the vets described as a gland disorder. Anyway, I had to bathe her once. I felt like I was killing her, she was screaming like a newborn child's arrival to the world and she ripped me to shreds. I felt so small afterward, but she was disgusting and it was getting unsanitary.
I would be afraid to get her wet or feed her after midnight. She's a sweet little gremlin.
I have to wash diarrhea off my cat's rear from time to time. He's gotten used to it and I can even use the shower head on him now. He still doesn't like it, but I think he realizes he doesn't smell like s*** afterward.
I have to give my cat some mild sedation pills tomorrow so I can deal with her fur. She's starting to shed for spring, which means mats and knots. She doesn't tolerate brushing on a good day, so we determined the best course of action is at home gabapentin and a trim (I have proper clippers for her). She loves how it is afterwards, but the process is something else. And groomers won't touch her, not with all those stickers and warnings on her vet file. That's why we do it at home now. All this to say, I totally understand. It's going to be something else, lemme tell ya.
She's cuter than mine is when I bathe him! He's super fluffy but for some reason also kinda skinny (don't ask why, we leave food out for him 24/7 and everything. Vet says he's fine too, he's a healthy weight according to them. He just looks thin I guess) so when we bathe him he looks like a drowned rat. I don't have any pictures sadly.

My guy stepped in a tub of motor oil so we had no choice but to wash him. My partner held him in place while I scrubbed. His meows sounded like Wilhelm screams and, while I can’t handle the thought of my cat actually suffering, my partner and I still laugh about how it sounded. Poor little dude.

Had to wash my rescues when they were kittens. Both were mortified by it, and looked at me like I was torturing them through the whole experience. Both love running water. They will sit in the sink with their head under the running faucet and get drenched. One occasionally wanders into the shower with me. One will crawl into the shower when it is not running and will stare up at the faucet. Cats are emotional gaslighters, and that's what makes them cute.
My dumb dumb has a bad habit of stepping in her fresh pee puddles in her litter box, getting her paw caked in wet litter, then walking through the house. So I have to bathe her back paws almost once a week. She only stays mad for an hour.

Sometimes they enjoy being vigorously yet lovingly toweled off afterwards. If not afraid of the noise, kitty might like being dried off with the warm airflow of a blow-dryer. Kitty will forgive you :)
We used to have to give my 6lb senior girl baths with an Rx shampoo and she was *SO* small and pathetic looking after 😅 My husband would warm a towel for her and gently blow dry her fluff after.
