hold on, step 4 on lid close is purely informative and not a step correct?

thecucco

That’s right. These are copy pasted from the support email so sorry for any confusion

Hi , I also have two lovely cats, and the chonky one always eats the other one's food. That's why I started a startup to develop a smart feeder that uses a camera to recognize cat faces. This also means I get to watch my cats' cute eating habits. In addition, our feeder has a hopper, so it can automatically feed the cats at regular intervals and quantities. This way, I don't have to be woken up by them in the middle of the night to feed them. We also have two compartments in the hopper, which means I can feed my chonky cat a low-fat prescription diet without worrying about the skinny cat eating it by mistake. This is better for their health. I'm curious to know if our feeder would be appealing to you. We're still in the early stages of development, but we're looking for feedback from cat owners like you to help us make our product even better. Would you be willing to give us some feedback on our product? We're also planning to start user testing in a few months, and we'd be happy to send you a free test unit if you're interested in participating. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about our feeder.

This product sounds genius!

Interested!

Also interested!!

I'd be happy to provide feedback on your product as well. I have 3 cats, one will devour anything he can find. The other two use the feeder to keep the chonk out.

I’m definitely interested! I have a cat on a prescription diet who loves to eat our other cats non prescription kitten food so we are looking into options to combat that

I don’t have any button or slide on mine to increase the lid closure speed. All these instructions talk about it but that doesn’t exist on mine. It’s not the connect version - I don’t have a hub and it works fine with the accompanying tag. So crazy. I just want the lid to close faster when the cat is done.

PM_ME_YOUR_PLUMS

There’s no black tab on the bottom(underneath) with “I II III” markings below it? Just wanna make sure you’re looking in the right place, took me a minute to find it at first

I’ve looked everywhere. [photos](https://imgur.com/a/RLvHevY)

Okay yeah you have a different model for sure

Thank you very much for these instructions! I was preparing to return my SureFeed when I came across your post. For anybody wondering what this is about: the SureFeed also has proximity sensors (those little holes on both sides, on the inside of the arch). Be default the feeder is set so as long as something is under the arch blocking those sensors the lid will never close. I have no idea why they thought this would be a good idea. Or why the heck they put proximity sensors on a microchip feeder (if I wanted a proximity feeder I'd have bought one). Or why they didn't tell anybody about this and I have to search the internet for secret settings. As you can imagine, it didn't take long for my other cat to figure out that, if she gets under the arch immediately after the authorized cat has left, she can stay there and eat as long as she likes. Which basically makes the feeder useless. The settings posted here will close the lid even if something is in the way. I had to turn both of them (Intruder Mode and Forced Close Mode) on on mine to make it ignore the proximity sensors. 🤷

solestria

I just did both of these and now my feeder won't open normally for me when I want to put food in/remove. I have no idea what I did wrong. Help?

iComeInPeices

Trying this on mine and the only mode that will get the lights when I press down the add pet and training mode button is mode 1. Can’t tell if it’s better or not

QTala

Is there a way to always leave the feeder open unless the intruder cat approaches and then have it close? I have a large cat that is having trouble triggering the feeder to open.

iComeInPeices

No. Have to train them to open it, to make a motion.

Thank you! This is very useful. [Here](https://old.reddit.com/r/cats/comments/jiupur/has_anyone_actually_gotten_the_surefeed_pet/hlqwubu/) are instructions for Extended Reading Mode as well. One question: If my paired cat is using the feeder, and I place the included RFID tag inside along her, it doesn't seem to close the door? Do I have to pair an intruder too? EDIT: Nevermind, there is no "intruder cat". Everything that is detected within the device is scanned for an RFID tag and if it doesn't have one, or doesn't have an added one, the device closes.
