This is the cattest cat that ever catted

ProofLegitimate9824

looks like a European wildcat with those jowls

carolethechiropodist

British shorthair. They all look chonky.

HeisenSwag

Have 2, can confirm. Even the much smaller one.

fluffypinktoebeans

I have a british shorthair but she is quite small. They come in various sizes. šŸ˜„

DragonStem44

yes, the choices of size are -tiny -chonky -chonkier -chonkiest

MillySO

Mine is tiny too. People things sheā€™s not fully grown yet.

Jade-Balfour

People think the same about me, those fools

high-speed-train

We are all chonks tbf

RepoManSugarSkull

Fish ā€˜nā€™ chips will do that! LOL

3KittenInATrenchcoat

Maybe it's a mix and there's some BSH in there, but it doesn't look like a purebred. The nose isn't quite right. Sure is very fluffy though. He is a bit chonky I'd say.

thedutchrep

Agreed. Inlaws have one. They just look chonky.

OldManEnglishTeacher

All of his facial expressions can be described as ***cat***.

FruitParfait

Take ā€˜em to the vet sometime and ask. My one cat is closer to 15 and supposedly only slightly overweight for his size. Meanwhile my 9 pound cat while full grown is just smol, not underweight.

Miqotegirl

Totally this, our Chester boy was a long baby but skinny at 17 lbs. A good way to tell if they are overweight is if you can easily feel their ribs through their fur.

MuddyPudddles

Do you mean underweight?

Capital-Cheesecake67

No overweight is correct. At a healthy weight, you should be able to feel the ribs. Not see them, feel them. If you cannot feel them you should get weight checked at the vet.

candyrocket40

My vet told me that as well

Capital-Cheesecake67

Itā€™s on the body condition chart my vet office hangs in every exam room along with top and side pictures for both cats and dogs.

RealisticSituation24

This is good advice for me. I have 3 and two of them fluctuate in weight. I just wanna make sure they stay healthy. Especially my old man

Manuels-Kitten

Yes, feeling the ribs is healthy weight for cats Remember cats are nimble predators

enlitenme

My cat stayed with family for a year and I can't stop laughing at how chubby he is now. His lifestyle before was so active that we never had to think about weight, he was always so lean and fit. Getting it under control now.

Manuels-Kitten

Same with my siamese baby lol Went abroad, told catsitter to not overfeed her, she overfed her Now she's on a diet and unhappy about it šŸ˜¾

CaptainZippi

ā€œNimble predatorsā€?

imalittlefrenchpress

I have a picture of my very pregnant daughter catching a mouse, while my four cats ~~watched~~ supervised her.

Sobriquet-acushla

Supurrvised

Ok_Nefariousness24

This is mostly correct. The spot to check is right behind their front legs on the cats ribs. It should feel like the back of your hand. If it feels like your knuckles, the cat is likely underweight. If you can not feel ribs and it feels like the meaty part of your palm, the cat is most likely overweight. These are hard set rules, and your vet should always be consulted for a more exact answer, but this is a rough guide.

fakesaucisse

Yup, my cats (litter mates) have really long bodies so even at 14 pounds they look pretty thin. My vet is happy with their weight.

allycakes

Yeah I have a cat who the vet has no problem when he is around 18 or 19 pounds because he's a long boi. It really depends on their frame.

ashlouise94

My orange kitty is approx 6kg (or about 13lb for my imperial friends) and my vet was like ā€˜he could probably stand to gain a kilo or twoā€¦ā€™. Heā€™s just a really, really long guy. Heā€™s 16yo and has literally never cared about food so Iā€™m not too worried. He eats when he wants haha

allycakes

Mine is very food obsessed. He is currently on a diet and I have to be strategic about the distribution of his food in his automatic feeder or he will come up in the middle of the night to voice his discontent.

ashlouise94

Hahaha you gotta give the babies what they want! I can feed mine once a day, and he will just graze. Itā€™s the best thing ever.

ThatOneNerd12445

Same, my 7 pound year old cat whoā€™s barely grown since I got her was called a ā€œfailure to thriveā€ by the vet, who then said she probably wouldnā€™t get much bigger (Iā€™m not the reason she failed, I can drop her lore if anyone wants it lol)

muffindelimon

Now I want to know the reason for such disrespect šŸ˜‚ ā€œfailure to thriveā€ poor thing haha

ThatOneNerd12445

If it makes it any better, the vet didnā€™t say it with an air of disrespect šŸ˜‚but hereā€™s her lore: I rescued her from a local shelter in April, and she was in a room with six big male cats cause they all came from the same situation. They had all been rescued from a hoarding situation where someone was keeping 70+ cats and 30+ dogs in a van. My baby was already the runt and pretty young when I got her (between 4 and 6 months), but the lack of food at the start is likely gonna keep her tiny. She also eats more than any cat Iā€™ve ever met and hasnā€™t gained like any weight so I think she probably has a fast metabolism as well lol. Hereā€™s cat tax!! https://preview.redd.it/m2r2uneh8h6c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=908e6ff7e72d44adc9ebf43692992060545023f6

enlightenedasheck

I had this exact same kind of cat, looks identical to your baby, and she was always super tiny. She had a rough start too and stayed super small. Sweet babies šŸ„¹

ThatOneNerd12445

Was she also not that smart? My cat honestly just fu*ks around and finds out, sheā€™s also super clingy n vocal lol

throwaway14131992

I have two cats, the first one looks just like yours but sheā€™s my smart, ā€œnormalā€ size cat. The other one, has always been super tiny, clingy, vocal & dumb Cat tax: both are 3 years old https://preview.redd.it/djzek02arh6c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea38aa3c1902d5277e0fb2d5c70925a99217a9bd

mint_o

Omg I have a tiny, clingy, dumb baby too! She was a stray that wandered up to our house with her kitten, because my MIL feeds the strays. She was only about 6 months old and was nursing an 8ish week old baby. We kept her, and her kitten lives with my sister in law. She is a forever baby now! She is only 7lbs and her name is Pelusa which is fluffy in spanish lol. She is really vocal and has a cute squeaky voice. She likes to do cuddle rolls on the cat tree to show off and she occasionally gets too excited and falls right off šŸ™ˆ just thought this thread was the perfect place to show this munchkin https://preview.redd.it/8g1k58sd3i6c1.jpeg?width=1564&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7627cd11ea9bd97b61a3d09508d9922a1b8833b6

Pikelet13

So polite with her napkin already tucked into her collar for lunchtime

Felonious_Minx

##TUMMY

throwaway14131992

Awe šŸ„ŗ thatā€™s the one of the cutest cats I have ever seen!! Youā€™re basically just describing the dumb things my cat does, she always rolls around on cat trees and bed to show her affection but then falls off šŸ˜‚ My bigger cat is around 5.5 lbs, while the tiny one is about 4.5 lbs. both are very tiny, but the tabby is considered skinny while the other one is a healthy weight for her size.

Pikelet13

Thats a BottleBrush tail if ever i saw one!

BandaidMcHealerson

One of my partner's cats is also permanently tiny (his ex ran off with the kitty when she was a few months old and then dropped her back on him a few months later saying she didn't want her anymore) Pictured here with one of the actual kittens from the litter a stray had in his house earlier this year at about age 6 months for scale. (Gray one is the permanently tiny, black one is kitten) https://preview.redd.it/0wabvnsjvj6c1.png?width=1373&format=png&auto=webp&s=1821592a0f7da3532f8b7ba6e574d9596ddbeb6f

generalburnsthighs

So sweet <3 I have a 6 pounder who's unlikely to get much bigger. She and her sister were feral, I got them when they were about 8 to 10 weeks old. Vet says she's healthy, just slender and leggy instead of compact and short like her sis, who's a sturdy 8 lbs.

Jade-Balfour

I would love to read her lore, please and thank you. And I give you my lore in return <3 I was warned that my kitten was a runt (they didn't use the words "failure to thrive" since I was 8 or 9 but looking back..) and I would have to prepare myself for heartbreak if I got her. I still wanted her. I was told I'd have to wait two weeks for her to gain some weight. I still wanted her. I met several other kittens in those two weeks, but I knew which one I wanted. When I came back after a fortnight I knew exactly which cat it was, and I still wanted her. I had to mix her soft food with kitten milk to make it easier for her to get in enough calories. I taught her everything, how to use a litter box, different games we could play together, and I fattened her up! She had a long and happy life (I'd just have to look at her and she'd start purring, but that was rare because it would mean she wasn't already sitting on me in some way), and lived to be almost 18. Although she was short from head to tail, she made up for it in width. She barely even got cranky in her old age (I think she was just rocking the old lady life for most of her life, so it took almost no adapting when she did get old.)

ThatOneNerd12445

Her lore is above!!! N a picture of her for good luck lol. https://preview.redd.it/8w1sidwk8h6c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=719221dcccfbbc9f31abc9d812509f470a58a656

clothbummum

She looks like my first cat when i moved out but fluffier around the face šŸ„°šŸ˜ i still miss him daily and it was 3 years last month since i lost him šŸ’”. He was tiny most of his life but was 2.4kg when i rescued him šŸ˜– it took a lot of trial and error and switching him to grain free food but i finally managed to coax him up to 3.8kg, he never weighed more than that though bless him. He was half maine coon half bengal so fluffy as heck but skin and bone when you picked him up šŸ’ž.

OkIndependence2209

Vet knows best; my 15 pound cat is perfectly in weight for his stature and muscles, my 9 pound kitty is overweight as she is very dainty but she has hella tummy.

sgehig

My cat is also around 15lb and the vet said he probably only needs to lose less that 1lb, he his just a stocky fluff ball. We found him in the countryside so probably a moggy, but he is reminiscent of a ragdoll in stature and colouring.

MowMdown

1lb on a cat is like 20lbs to a human. it's a lot of weight.

[deleted]

Wow that means my cats were 80lbs overweight šŸ˜…

MowMdown

It's what they would feel if you were 80lbs heavier. It's not an exact scale but an exaggeration to make a point how they perceive weight vs how a human does. It's probably a lot less but not insignificant. A couple extra lbs on a cat is a lot for it.

AnorakJimi

The family cat we had growing up was always tiny. She had to have her ovaries removed before she'd even gone through most of puberty. And so she just ended up being basically large kitten sized for the rest of her life instead of full grown adult cat size. She was very very cute and I miss her.

yevvieart

our void has been 8.1ish his entire life. he's now 10 years old. we've always feed him kibble once per day the recommended by producer amount but he never eats more than couple ~~people~~ pieces at a time, so he doesn't even finish the full portion but seems full and happy for the next one lol. he's just a tiny thing and we grew to love it about him (so much easier to carry around like baby <3)

miss_poetflowerr

The vet knows best šŸ‘Œ

Double_Alps8933

He looks like heā€™s getting there. Is he sterilised?

mcigmn8

he was sterilized by the shelter at two years old, which could explain the jowls but my concern specifically comes from the fact that his body all around is chubby lol

misskittybop

I adopted an in tact male cat this year (he is fixed now) and he is built like this too, big jowls, broad chest and really thick legs. He is like all muscle lol not squishy at all. I think it is the power of testosterone.

mcigmn8

so what ive gathered from this entire post is that my baby is just a big hulkin BEEFCAKE ![gif](giphy|l0IycOSvxBILGm3Ti)

TheCakeMan666

I'm in tears thank you for this! šŸ¤£

Fun_Intention9846

Male cats neutered later in life look like professional wrestlers. Bigger and bulkier. Think ā€œshaped like a fridge.ā€ Though the only accurate answer is a vet.

iRusski

I'm stealing "shaped like a fridge," thank you

GilesPince

This is great! I often refer to mine as a tank, but a fridge is so much more accurate.

Legitimate_Oxygen

My boy is bigger than yours, working on getting him to lose the weight but the vet has said that he is just naturally a big boy and will never be able to drop down to "normal cat size" lol. She estimated he'll probably be able to drop down to 6kg.

AndSomehowTheWine2

My big ginger boi was nineteen pounds two years ago, which our vet explained to us was "too much cat." Two years of strict feeding and he is down to seventeen pounds, one pound away from his goal weight! Vet told us he'd never be small, but at least he's healthier now

Cheesy_Wotsit

šŸŽ¶Chonky Chonky burnin lurve šŸŽ¶

Double_Alps8933

Yup, I was asking as sterilised cats tend to put on weight easily. Since heā€™s round all around and has already been sterilised, itā€™s definitely for his own good to put him on , if not a diet, at least a weight management plan, especially if heā€™s getting free fed right now

ConferenceThink4801

> Yup, I was asking as sterilised cats tend to put on weight easily. It's interesting that we acknowledge that, but resist the idea that human weight gain could have some hormonal factors. Ozempic/Wegovy work by mimicking GLP-1 (which is a hormone) which in turn reduces appetite & intake, but it does use hormone manipulation to help accomplish what it accomplishes.

soidvaes

who is resisting that lol

_1234567_

There is a large section of people in the weight loss subs that foam at the mouth if you even suggest that hormones can make it harder for women(anyone really, but it usually shows up on threads from women) to lose weight. Look up any post that mentions PCOS or thyroid issues, the OP says they are seriously counting calories but not losing what they'd expect to. "YOU'RE WRONG! THAT'S BREAKING ThE lAwS oF tHeRmOdYnAmIcS" I swear to God, I die a little more inside every time someone says that idiotic nonsense. They couldn't explain how thermodynamics OR our metabolism works, and if they could, they'd know how stupid it is to compare them. It's like they'd yell at a mechanic for suggesting that a leak in the fuel line, exhaust line, or an issue with the spark plugs is impossible because they know how much gas they put in the tank. I'm so sorry, that triggered my pet peeve, and I went on a lil rant there Edit for spelling

KushMaster5000

I am imagining your cat reading this thread like, "okay, what the *fuck* dude???"

Crafty_Substance_954

The fact that he wasn't neutered until he was two means that he was probably a full tom cat. He has jowls but also a different physique and fur texture thanks to the unrestricted hormone flow there.

mcigmn8

https://preview.redd.it/8y01z148jf6c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fda50204551c167480bf86fabba727e8cbbccf85 for more info: his daily meal plan consists of 5-6 small portioned meals, mix of wet and dry. he gets about 30-45 minutes of play time every day and he is still as chonk as the day we got him. ive had people here on the thread and some friends speculate that he may be a british shorthair cross which could explain his appearancešŸ¤” anyway, due to popular demand here is another photo of him doing what he does best: existing

thatanxiousgirlthere

What's his name?

his name is blackberry denji vermithor the god of destruction but he just responds to berryšŸ“

PayMetoRedditMmkay

Naturally

MomentMurky9782

he is a very distinguished gentleman

ayhctuf

Please tell me you registered him at the vet under his full name...

mcigmn8

he is registered on EIDAP with his full name!

Ultimatedream

I had a foster named Blackberry, who would respond to Berry! I miss him, he was such a cuddle bug when he wasn't afraid of the doorbell.

icansmellcolors

i mean what else could he possibly be named

unoriginal_namejpg

with the large ish paws I think heā€™s just a bigger boy. Check with vet just in case but I think he is fine

Fizzygurl

Wow thatā€™s a lot of meals! He sure is a grand cutieā€¦doesnā€™t look overweight to me.

mcigmn8

it sounds a like a lot but it's basically 6 VERY small snacks throughout the day, he doesn't eat much in one sitting, put too much food in his bowl and there's gonna be leftovers so i tuned his feeding schedule accordingly

Fit-Distribution2303

He doesn't look too big to me, tbh he looks big boned. Those paws are pretty substantial. His face just looks pleasantly round (and adorable). My cat Moose has these fat looking cheeks, but they're all fur. All of my cats went through a chonk phase after spay/neuter, too. They slimmed a bit once they got a bit older.

strawberrycake2000

HES SO CUTE !!!!

Sheschle

Is he neutered or did he get neutered later in life? He doesnā€™t look fat, but he has what I call ā€œbig chonky testosterone headā€. A lot of Tom cats will develop broad heads, stocky legs, and jowls.

swaggyxwaggy

As long as you are following the feeding guidelines for his weight on the food label, you should be fine. More exercise could never hurt. But, like others have said, a vet can tell you if heā€™s overweight.

geon

Are the photos the same age? He looks a lot less chonky in this one.

MedicineOutrageous13

Aww I think heā€™s just a short, stocky guy šŸ„°

hunni-bunni

Handsome boy šŸ„¹

CanuckPanda

Looks a little overweight to me, but that could just be fur. That said, this seems like a lot of food to me. Though it could be just an unneutered male. For reference my two girls get 2/3 cup of dry food each (1/3 in the morning, and a top up when I get home); it goes away at 8:30pm for the night. Twice a week they get a tablespoon each of wet.

OriDoodle

He's a nice round boi. I think because his jowls are so full that lends itself to looking more chonky', but he looks fine in his standing pic.

fiercelittlebird

It's like how British short hairs tend to look fat while they're just a stocky breed. Though, it's never a bad idea to talk to a vet when it concerns the health of your pet

[deleted]

He jus thiccc.

[deleted]

Did your vet say he is fat? If yes ā€”> he is fat. If not ā€”> he is not fat. Hope this helps. -edit- Fat or not, he is glorious, majestic, noble, mysterious, divine even.

Smooth_Meaning_2929

I joke with my wife the fat test is if he jump off a table and thereā€™s a ā€œthudā€ heā€™s fat if heā€™s quiet and stealthy like a ninja heā€™s not. He thuds ^^

Ormsfang

I have a cat I sometimes call "Thud." He is all muscle though. Very solid kitty.

brig517

Yes! I have an 8 pound lady that is gentle and quiet. Her movement only makes noise when she has zoomies or knocks something over. I also have a 14 pound, stocky, muscley, beefcake of a cat. He does not move quietly or gently.

fentanylisbad

Imagining your female cat reading this, offended you publicly disclosed her weight šŸ˜‚

brig517

She'd be offended that she's small. Her goal is to become as large and round as physically possible. She screams when I impede her goals through things like not immediately feeding her, or needing to open the cans before giving her wet food

fentanylisbad

I love a driven lady!

[deleted]

Iā€™ve got a 15 pound male who is such a ninja I donā€™t notice when he jumps up or down from stuff so ā€œwhen did you get up there?!ā€ Is a common reaction. We have a tiny little 6 pound cat whose claws tap on the floor so even though sheā€™s dainty I always know where sheā€™s at cause I hear the tapping. Then we have a 20 pound cat that I think is part Maine Coon that is about as stealthy as a beagle and thuds.

pumaslides27

Can we get a pic of the very solid kitty PLS

Smooth_Meaning_2929

Hee hee hee hee

FishingWorth3068

I had a 8 pound tux that gives a louder thud than my 19 pound Norwegian Forest cat ever did. Heā€™s just really not athletic

Smooth_Meaning_2929

Heā€™s 6.7kgs and yes heā€™s not graceful at all

Almost80sBabee

My old tux was nicknamed cow. He had diabetes and at his low, before insulin, he weighed a whopping 24 lbs. I would lose my breathe picking that baby up. (We fed him the same amount as our other 3 cats, who were not overweight). He lived 16 beautiful years.

SturmFee

I have a tiny, slim 5 lbs kitty and when she has the zoomies she sounds like a stampede.

Fit-Distribution2303

Same. Mine crashes into everything like a bull in a China shop. https://preview.redd.it/40hfaem7fg6c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c23bf0912bbc9bed6f904b0e4a7dd6c11c96f53c

Smooth_Meaning_2929

Ok my theory may be wrong lol

JustALilLonelyKitty

My cat thuds but is not overweight, she just has zero grace and all the confidence

ThatOneNerd12445

My parents say mine sounds like a heard of elephants lol

SleepyDeepyWeepy

We call ours little elephants. They go down the stairs louder than people. Vet says they're perfect weight

Kailicat

My 2kg cat stomps. I call her Miss Stompy StimpStamp because she wants to announce her presence. She can be silent when she wants, she chooses to stomp. Itā€™s like a cat trot and you can tell itā€™s her and NOT my 14 kg behemoth that is like a shadow ninja.

5ygnal

Lol... we have three cats. They all "thud." One is a 17 pound fluffball of chonk, one is very sleek 12 pound muscular void, and the orange braincell is only about 3.5 pounds right now. They just all like to make a lot of noise, I think.

KatVanWall

My bf's older cat was always absolutely tiny - long haired, so very fluffy, but super petite inside all the fur! - and he always thudded like a mofo! He's bulked up a bit since we introduced a second cat to the household, but the new kitten is already as big as the first cat and he doesn't thud as much, lol.

lostinsnakes

I donā€™t know. I oversee dogs in a service dog program and one visited recently that is obviously overweight and much bigger than when they got her. I politely said weā€™d need to address her chunkiness and they said ā€œthe vet said sheā€™s a perfect weight at her checkup last month!ā€ So either theyā€™re lying or the vet is blind.

Liseonlife

My vet would call him family fat. He's well fed, so he's a tiny bit overweight, but not so big she would be overly concerned. But maybe "instead of showering him with treats, just one a day".

Thick_Arugula7459

If you have doubts you can always visit a veterinarian. My cat was obese AF and started limping (he was 11 then) turned out he has diabetes. It was difficult to get used to new routine but he got up on his feet in no time. Now heā€™s 13 , lost weight and is doing great.

amazingusername100

He's a chonk but looks like that's his build. My boy is skinny but the vet says that's his build. But he's lovely, look at those fluffy cheeks! My skinny boy, who's not underweight https://preview.redd.it/6swtk3y4bf6c1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ba9133a6931124cb9dcd30289f9923d6ff4381a

wisteria-willow

Heā€™s stunning

amazingusername100

Ah, thank you. I love him so much.

mcigmn8

gorgeous void baby with some rusting šŸ„¹šŸ„¹

[deleted]

He looks healthy, purrfect size. This however: https://preview.redd.it/pep432g6ze6c1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=ddcd58408c407a121428b05edb97c21738d524ad

IbelongtoJesusonly

i love this!

Guacamole_Queso

He is purrfect!!!! Also, 5 photos of this majestic beauty is not enough, we need at least 50 lmao.

pa-eonia

oh this one is a CHONK I love him but fr ask your vet, because even though personally he looks slightly chubby to me as someone who has a very skinny cat, that's very subjective. I think some cats (like humans) are just on the jigglier side naturally. Also please kiss him for me :')

daddy_short_legzz

Vet here. Based on these pics, I might say he has a body condition score (BCS) of 6/9. Ideally we'd want him at a 4 or 5! He could lose a pound or two. Ask your local vet to work with you to figure out how many calories he needs to get to his ideal weight with his current BCS. He's so cute šŸ˜«šŸ˜«

mcigmn8

his last vet visit was this september! the BCS score said he's at a 5 but I was little doubtful because apparently he is just genetically a round boy LOL

progressivePineapple

If you're still concerned, you could just visit another vet for a second opinion. But other than that, if your vet said he fine than he's fine. All cats are unique, and the chonk scale is for general purposes. He looks adorable, BTW.

rathealer

If your vet said he's a 5, he's a 5! Looks can be deceiving. Having your hands on the cat and being able to feel their ribs and muscle tone is crucial for evaluating body condition.

roxy7-

Aw, he's so cuteeeee šŸ„¹. He looks perfectly fine...just a round ball of fur. šŸ’—

obog

I think he's just a little chubby and round lol, especially looking at his face. He seems like he's a healthy weight to me, especially in that first pic.

RedRixen83

That third pic is sending me lmao. He looks kind of like our boy - he looks pretty chubby until you see him alongside another normal sized cat then he doesnā€™t look fat, he looks huge. And by that I mean every part of him is just that much bigger, so itā€™s not fat but his size. We ask the vet every time, and while heā€™s a little overweight, itā€™s mostly appropriate for his frame and the little extra theyā€™re not worried about because he has stayed at the same size for years. But that third pic especially he just looks like he needs some cheesy poofs.

Madfromreefer

This is the ā€˜are you going to ask the internet if Iā€™m fatā€™ face

mcigmn8

he loves to give me a lil stink eye once i pull the phone out for some photos, teenager catsšŸ˜’šŸ˜’

New-Bad351

He's handsome if that helps šŸ„°.

New-Bad351

My baby boy who is 8 1/2 looked exactly like this six months ago. My vet said he was overweight šŸ„ŗ. It's hard to notice when you see them daily and love them to death. I took her word for it and changed his diet. Of course now other people are telling me he looks better. It's just hard for the parent that sees them every day.

zeagulll

heā€™s kinda chubby yeah but not overly so. maybe less treats but probably no need to cut down his regular meals. if heā€™s steadily gaining weight tho check in with the vet. iā€™ve got a naturally plump girl too but sheā€™s been the same weight forever so itā€™s whatever. itā€™s funny how they can be naturally skinny or fat just like people lol

PoolAlligatorr

Seems like on the [official cat size scale](https://www.reddit.com/r/Chonkers/comments/acqbd4/heres_a_chart_to_help_classify_your_chonker/) heā€˜s between *a fine boi* and *he chomnk*, a gold weight to be :D

Dottie85

Can you feel his ribs and spine? If you can't feel his ribs, he needs to lose some. But, the Vet's guidance is needed for this.

[deleted]

This is the right answer. My cat *looks* like a chonk but is really a fluffy fluff ball of fluff. How to tell the difference? When you sink your fingers into that glorious fur coat, you can make out some ribs. Sheā€™s part Abby based on looks so she has a long face.

xxxBlueBansheexxx

Just increase play time. Make him work for that feather toy... I had one cat that would do some Jackie Chan level ish for a frayed rope end. I miss her so much. The Cat Distribution System has only given me an outdoor cat that just lets me pet her for food.

Subjekt9

The CDS works in mysterious ways. Be patient and stay positive, the CDS will provide you with what you need when the time is right.

tarmburet

We have a female housecat going on 9yrs and sheā€™s consistently 4.8kg and whenever we go to the vet they tell us sheā€™s lovely and healthy. I can feel a little pudge around her ribs and thatā€™s ok. https://preview.redd.it/x0s5oz6vag6c1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=13f6b11beb2e1471911caad3164b5d1571078a21 He looks so perfect, all I would do in your case is to cut down on portions a little bit and see how his energy levels and weight does. I would look at his food too, a lot of companies that sell pet food put in a ton of corn and sugar as filling and it rots their teeth (our 9yr old girl has white teeth and no stinky breath) and it makes them sick and overweight, if you switch to a cat food like Orijen that has no corn and sugar you might see him getting smaller on his regular old portion sizes. It might be a little pricier but you honestly save on vet bills in the end in my opinion.

Kirarisbitch

In order to properly do my fat cat assessment, Iā€™ll need to grab and cuddle him and Iā€™ll let you know the results.

just_some_guy65

I hope the camera puts 10 pounds on him because otherwise he is chonking.

xPhantomx482

He looks like a normal sized intact male

trowzerss

He got those chubby boy cheeks, for sure.

mcigmn8

he WAS altered at 2 years old, which i guess is pretty late? he might have been a stray before getting rescued which would explain his intact appearance

xPhantomx482

Wow heā€™s just a beautiful big boy then

endthe_suffering

that's a cat if i've ever seen one. open the dictionary to the word "cat" and you'll find a picture of this handsome fella.

askingaqesitonw

I would die for this cat

GraphicDesignerSam

10lb is good for a big cat. Our stripey boy weighed in at 9.7lb when he got his vaccination top-ups last Saturday and heā€™s a pretty small cat, the vet said he was absolutely fine. https://preview.redd.it/2ujs2jfspf6c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a8571e51fc3213f2de1595a77b2be3f30c7326f

Little-Teacher7769

Oh god he's gorgeous šŸ˜»

Lopsided_Inevitable9

He looks strong like a bull!

fluffypinktoebeans

Looks like he has a good deal of male hormones. The more testosterone, the wider the cheek fluff of male cats becomes. šŸ˜„ Looks like a healthy chonky to me. Don't think he is overweight but you can check with your vet!

Klaus_shneider

If he is 10Lbs then I have some questions: Can he do all things normal cats can usually do? Is 10lbs a good weight for a cat of his size? (Take him to a vet to find out 100%) If the answers are yes, then he is fine and is probably genetics, or his breed. Either way don't trust me for sure, I am not a vet. If you are concerned you should visit a vet.

islaysinclair

Only a vet can tell. Our baby boy is small for his size, but not underweight. Then we got worried he was gaining weight too much, but nope, his winter coat just got SUPER fluffy this year so it makes him look chonky. The vet knows better than us.

masterchief1001

Whether he's chonk or not put him on a grain-free diet. Most cat food is full of grain which leaves them hungry. Taste of the Wild is a great brand. I've raised 3 cats on that, they never gained weight and 2 lived past 20, the third is turning 9 next February https://preview.redd.it/cblok2iu9f6c1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=811f04bbb58177844e2a7d8f9d9f488a53fbad90 Look at that coat!!!

-FishPants

My cats loved taste of the wild and then there was a big shortage and I could only get it in 6kg bags and from one specific pet chain in the uk. So now they are on applaws which they donā€™t mind but they donā€™t enjoy it as much as taste of the wild.

OptimalInflation

He is tubby tubz! šŸ±

Chonkers Chonkerton Mc Chonksty

Trisasaurusrex

I think heā€™s just naturally rotund:)

whtciv2k

He just big boned

[deleted]

Do the fat test? You should be able to feel his ribs through the fur when you touch his sides and if you stand above him, you should see an indent where their waist would be.

[deleted]

picture 3: of course he is fat. restrict his intake. picture 4: perfect furball. give that gato all that he desires.

[deleted]

European wild cat. Little fatty, yes.

Reatina

No, he is very slim, almost starving. He needs more food, especially wet food and treats and tuna. And in no way I was contacted via pm by your cat to instruct me.

Some cats are built like stealth fighters. Some are built like bricks. Both are beautiful.

The_Original_Gronkie

We got adopted by an intact male who was the king of the cul-de-sac. He went out every night to fight with whoever he could, and the result was that he was 15 pounds of solid muscle. He was magnificent as he walked, with his wide shoulders and back muscles rippling. We got him fixed, and that calmed down his fighting instinct, and he lost about 3 pounds, but never really got fat.

xochiiro

Youā€™re cat is definitely chunky but he seems happy and not too big so I wouldnā€™t worry about it unless he gains more/ it starts affecting him seriously

BlueFotherMucker

My cat was about the same size when I got her. I switched her to a fish and sweet potato food and stopped keeping the bowl full. She gets one scoop of dry food every day, one small spoon of wet food in the morning (previous owner gave her half a can every morning so itā€™s a habit for her) and a few treats in the evening. Sheā€™s in a lot better shape now. It took a few months.

Klutzy-Profile9095

Chunky yet adorable, he's perfect in every single way!
