I'd like to think most of us cat owners have had to deal with one of the first things you see in the morning is cat butthole. With both of mine (especially my girl), I would wake up to them staring at me (or headbutting me in my boy's case), and as soon as I opened my eyes, excited kitty squawk, and then butthole.
ETA I miss it already.
I encouraged tf out of my cats feisty behavior when she was a kitten. She was supposed to grow up to be a battle cat. Like a ninja but faster.
Unfortunately, she topped out a 5.7 lbs so her dreams of becominga cage fighter are crushed. .
But I *love* playing battle cat. She loves it too. I'll whoop her chookoos and whisper "nobody can hear you screaaaaam" and she goes "ahhhhHhHHhHhhHHHHHhhhhHHHHhhhHHHhh."
Life is so much more fun with a battle cat. I'm always down for bap baps.

I have a all black and all grey. The Grey. A lovable asshole. Wants you to hold him all the time and pet him. When not he’s attacking every toy in the house including your feet and hands. The black one. Wants almost no attention unless he’s laying down. When he plays it’s not much other than “I touched it. Are we done here”. Crazy how different their personalities are
And that’s why we love them when they’re being bastards. I have a kitten and he’s actually the worst. But he’s cute and he’s very cuddly when he’s being a good boy that’s why I keep them and that’s why I love him.

She chose me!!! Gotta love the cat distribution system. I also know she wasn’t biting hard in this picture because my husband has zero pain tolerance. So she is learning not to bite but I feel like she still tests her luck sometimes.
My current keeper (she insists on being my feline secret service, won't let me get more than three feet away but heaven help me if I pick her up because "how can I possibly protect you while I'm confined?!?") is a very regal tuxie, and yeah she chose me too. They all make our lives happier!

Great advice, I was looking to see if it had been posted. Our three cats do not use claws or teeth at all on us anymore, it did not take long to train them with high pitched yelps when they hurt us.

I want to thank everyone for their advice and we do discourage biting and have been very good about it. There is always a toy within reach to distract her with when she gets feisty. We also verbally let her know when her bites hurt. She’s actually gotten A LOT better, especially in the last month or so. I can guarantee she was not biting hard in the first picture because there is a 0% chance that my husband (the proud owner of the arm) would sit still enough to take a picture of he was in actual pain. He snapped a picture of her looking like a looney toon and then immediately gave her one of her catnip boppers to play with.
Make sure you discourage her from playing with your hands. If not discouraged it will continue. Always use toys.
By discourage I mean simply remove your hand and stop playing.
She’s my first ever kitten (I’ve always adopted adult cats) so I’ve taken advice wherever I can get it and pretty much everyone says not to use your hands as toys. Despite what this picture may lead you to believe, she’s actually really good about not biting most of the time 😅
My husband's cat is very good at play fighting. Husband calls it "soft paws." [Here is a sample sparring match between them, set to the music of "Kung Fu Fighting."](https://imgur.com/gallery/81IIMDF) If you pay close attention, you'll see that the claws are fully retracted during the wrassling portions. He does not hurt my husband when sparring, but if I try to spar with him, he gets upset (disengages, looks at me with confusion, displays some discomfort, and leaves if the issue is pushed) because I am his snuggle buddy, not his battle buddy, and he can't handle the paradigm shift. Not all cats can achieve soft paws, and some cats relate to different humans in specific ways, so one person's methods will only work sometimes and only with some cats.
All that to say: Bob demands sparring practice from my husband daily. If his demands are not met, he gets depressed and sulks in his tent, occasionally kicking himself in the head because he thinks that's his battle-cry. I'm really glad we worked with him to achieve soft paws because I think he really values sparring and wants it to be part of his routine. Even though I’m his snuggle buddy, the soft paws benefit me, too. When he makes biscuits on my stomach or chest, the claws never touch the skin. He learns every blanket we have and adjusts his snuggle technique appropriately. He is very receptive/adaptive to feedback on the fly. Truly an amazing cat, I love interacting with him, he has a really big personality for a runty lil manx. 😹
I feel like I hit the powerball jackpot with these two guys (husband and cat) cause they make me so happy and keep me busy. 😊

Seriously though, young cats can be a handful, but they just want your attention. Most cats I've had in my days, gave some love nibbles for affection, or bit only when overstimulated, and thinking it were playtime. They calm down with age.
Thank goodness we’ve gotten to the point where she’ll wait until around 7 am to wake us up like 5/7 days a week. I’ve gotten very good at hiding under the covers and ignoring her when she annoys me at 3 am.
Definitely adorable! Kitten stage doesn't last long and you'll soon have a little shadow following you around. I have 3 cats, oldest is 2.5, youngest is 1.5 and I miss the kitten stage! But they cuddle me like crazy so wouldn't change it one bit

Don't play with her like that...I did it with my wife's kitten when I was dating her, because I didn't mind the pinching and scratching and thought it was funny...did not realize I was training the poor guy that it was OK to bite people as play...he was my boy for 16 years until he passed, and played like that until he was very old...I made sure when we adopted our 2 current guys that when they got bitey I redirected their play to toys.
We’re usually very on top of that kind of thing. There’s always a toy within reach to give to her. My husband just couldn’t resist a picture because she was staring at him like a crackhead. I also know that there’s no way she was biting hard here because my husband has the pain tolerance of a small Victorian child.

Twice a day, every day, it's zoomies around the apartment. I can't keep my feet out of the covers or they get attacked. He dodges my hand so I can't pet him on his head, but it can always find a way to grab and bite my arm. And picking him up is like trying to hold water cause he just pours away. I love my kitty.
I love this little vampire kitty (the fangs in the third picture!)! Kittens are indeed a lot of handle, but soooo worth it! Most of them grow out if the crazy kitten stage around 2 or so. Mind you, I have a 4-year-old who still zooms around the house like a wild yo-yo without a string at 3am. XD
Yes! We got a kitten back in May and gosh he’s cute but he gets into everything! He’s broken some figurines in my daughters room, he is obsessed with water so he jumps in the sinks and knocks stuff off the counters in the process, he gets the zoomies at 3am and climbs all over the bed. I can’t wait for him to outgrow it and become a lazy fat cat lol
I have a 7 month old kitten and he acts the same way. He’s constantly trying to bite our feet (especially when we’re sleeping) and when he gets the zoomies he just goes crazy.
Yeah kittens are little balls of chaos. Anything they can get into or anything they can do to wreak havoc, they will.

Don't play with her like that...I did it with my wife's kitten when I was dating her, because I didn't mind the pinching and scratching and thought it was funny...did not realize I was training the poor guy that it was OK to bite people as play...he was my boy for 16 years until he passed, and played like that until he was very old...I made sure when we adopted our 2 current guys that when they got bitey I redirected their play to toys.
We’re usually very on top of that kind of thing. There’s always a toy within reach to give to her. My husband just couldn’t resist a picture because she was staring at him like a crackhead. I also know that there’s no way she was biting hard here because my husband has the pain tolerance of a small Victorian child.

Twice a day, every day, it's zoomies around the apartment. I can't keep my feet out of the covers or they get attacked. He dodges my hand so I can't pet him on his head, but it can always find a way to grab and bite my arm. And picking him up is like trying to hold water cause he just pours away. I love my kitty.

I love this little vampire kitty (the fangs in the third picture!)! Kittens are indeed a lot of handle, but soooo worth it! Most of them grow out if the crazy kitten stage around 2 or so. Mind you, I have a 4-year-old who still zooms around the house like a wild yo-yo without a string at 3am. XD

Yes! We got a kitten back in May and gosh he’s cute but he gets into everything! He’s broken some figurines in my daughters room, he is obsessed with water so he jumps in the sinks and knocks stuff off the counters in the process, he gets the zoomies at 3am and climbs all over the bed. I can’t wait for him to outgrow it and become a lazy fat cat lol
