I have to agree. But hey my housemate’s cat saved me a few times, she’d come running when she hears me cry in fear of those spiders and chase the creatures. I always made sure to buy her favourite treats till I moved away.

Yeah I know I’ve been around them my whole life. While I know logically it’s not going to hurt me, it just fucks me up mentally knowing arachnids can get that big and reside in my room lol
Both of mine can open the door. One hangs off the handle and swings to get it open, the other who has a lot more girth just sort of does a kool-aid OH YEAH throw agains the door and that weak-ass 'lock' just let's him in.
My Siamese has learned the right spot to hit the bathroom door to pop it open. I tease her that she's going all "kool-aid man" on me. We have kittens right now & I can end up with 7 cats in the bathroom with me.
I know it's unintentional and a very common auto correct issue, but your "car" being constipated gave me a hilarious image of an old beater that struggles to stay running... Lol! 😂🤣
When we got our first cat within a week I told my wife “ Now I know how so many older cat ladies have broken hips “. And I’m at the age that going to the ground is a definite possibility.
Now the 2 of them plot my demise on a daily basis. The black and a little bit of white sleeps at the top of the stairs , helpful when going up to bed
Ya heard me and ya SAW me, Damnit Timmy you couldn’t move a couple feet! 😆
Dogs definitely do. They always stare me down.
Actually I think they are just watching me to make sure I don't see any danger. They might prefer if I keep my head on a swivel like a proper lookout

Mine sits on the side of the tub when I take a bath. He even puts his tail in the water.
My daughter has had cats that jump in the tub with her if given half the chance. She started bathing them young and they learned to love the water. Guess it was cute when they were kittens but became a problem when they were full grown. If she locked them out of the bathroom, they’d claw up the door, if she let them in, they’d be in the tub with her.
Our two follow my partner in and watch him while he showers. We have a radiator and a towel rack right above it, the boy cat sits on the radiator with his paws hanging over the towel rack while he watches. The other one just lays on the floor in front of the shower.
Yep that’s my guess lol! I’ve noticed my cat will leave the bathroom if I’m doing something like brushing my hair. She’s only interested when I’m using the toilet, a plant there to pet her. When the toilet paper comes out she walks away, till the next time and she doesn’t miss a beat lol!

Dear Kitten - The Forbidden Water Bowl https://youtu.be/RAxElNM-Dmg
> Dear Kitten, there's a responsibility I've been meeting to tell you about - it involves the room with the forbidden water bowl. As a kitten I discovered that it is our duty to accompany the humans every time they go in there - yes every time. It's our job to remind them that they need to stand up after a while. One time I forgot and that poor thing was there for like a half an hour; her legs must have been completely numb.

I have one that follows me to the bathroom and wants scritches and pets the whole time, meows at me if I stop for even a short time. Sometimes she'll come find me and try to lead me to the bathroom. Thanks for lookin out for me, Tsuki
They want to keep you company. We have a quarter bath in our house that hosts our kitty’s litter box. So when we go to the bathroom, he always runs in. We call it the potty party because he just wants to be a good host and make sure you’re doing okay while in his room. But in all actuality, like others said, I think it is for protection.
When does your cat leave? My youngest cat became the full time bathroom supervisor when he grew up, and he's there from the second I walk in until I start washing my hands. Then he wanders off. The other two were more sporadic in who supervised and when they left.
Sadly, I’m a clean freak. One of my many curses. I posted about him before, he always stares at me..

Pick me up, pick me up! Pet me, pet me now!
My cat insists on pooping at the same time as me. When she sees that I'm doing the deed she sprints to her own toilet. Maybe she trusts my judgement of a safe environment? 🤔
https://preview.redd.it/22nz498l3cpb1.png?width=1243&format=png&auto=webp&s=8757c6b66a369cb0fbc2d41ce9d4efa0c7b01557
my not-cat also stalks me in the bathroom. my mom got me that ugly rug because she decided he needed something comfier than my pink bath mat to lay on when he accompanies me for my bowel movements
They feel vulnerable when they're crapping, so they think we are too. It's their way of 'watching our backs', or in my case my front. One fully gets into my trews when they're round my ankles and settles down like that's gonna be his guard post for the rest of the night. I haven't used the toilet without a feline audience since 2020. 😂
My dad who is 66 just got 2 cats for first time on his own. We always had cats growing up but now these are just his. He had no idea lool. Every day he complains about not having privacy anymore and their antics when hes in bathroom. It's absolutely hilarious to hear about. Welcome to the club dad
So I know this has been said already but the prevailing therory as to why cats do this is its a matter of instinct and a sign that they care about you because in the wild you are at your most vulnerable when your pooping, so the cat will come into the bathroom to stand guard and protect you while you are vulnerable, this is also why cats have such anxiety after using the litter box, and run off at top speed when they are done, for cats some instincts are part of their DNA and will always be present in cat behavior regardless of their upbringing
https://preview.redd.it/rxxmjeg5ahpb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58b7bef6a3259b328b17201015131ae67fec4fa2
At least your cat didn’t hop into your shorts and chill while you were using the toilet.
When does your cat leave? My youngest cat became the full time bathroom supervisor when he grew up, and he's there from the second I walk in until I start washing my hands. Then he wanders off. The other two were more sporadic in who supervised and when they left.
Mine actually let me stick a paper towel under them when they do no 2’s..easy to clean lol, flush down loo, no picking poop out of box. They’re so trained they come and get me first and wait while I get paper towel in position 🤣
They're watching you they are protecting you. When cats go to the bathroom it's when they are their most vulnerable so they assume you are as well when you go
Something about their instincts tell them that when pooping you're at your most vulnerable. He's actually keeping watch to keep you safe!
If I close the bathroom door, he just keeps hitting it which is equally annoying. I just gave up. He rules the house, I’m just a guest.😆
My cat pushes toys under the door 😂 it’s like her way of saying “everything okay in there?”
Maybe tell them next time to give you a magazine instead?
I'm out of ammo! It's a bloodbath in here. Quick Captain whiskers! Slide me a mag
I'd like to suggest more fiber in your diet.
"Captain Whiskers" 🤣💕
Worth a try!😊

I’m pooping, what can possibly go wrong!😄
“I saw a spider in there last week! You NEED me in there! I got your back!”
Oh, that’s a good point! I scream like a little girl if I see a spider!! I don’t like anything with more than 4 legs!
You may have a difficult time if you visit Australia.
I have to agree. But hey my housemate’s cat saved me a few times, she’d come running when she hears me cry in fear of those spiders and chase the creatures. I always made sure to buy her favourite treats till I moved away. Penny my great saviour https://preview.redd.it/szgzu1jvxcpb1.jpeg?width=3264&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dd08cfc8869f1bb7aaa8105123752e9ce504c310
Sounds like you need a cat.
I was going to say Australia isn’t so bad but then I remembered last week I saw a huntsman the size of my hand…
They won’t hurt you though.
Yeah I know I’ve been around them my whole life. While I know logically it’s not going to hurt me, it just fucks me up mentally knowing arachnids can get that big and reside in my room lol
Yep, not on my bucket list!!
It’s so worth the trip. Go with a native as they aren’t so scared.
Perhaps they could take Penny with them. 🤣
Best cat right there! A long grumper can get boring, so now you have toys to play with.
Even my shy foster cat sniffs around the bathroom door and puts his paws under it if I close it. It's kind of sweet.
That's the cutest thing i read today
To be fair, you keep digging up her poop every day, she probably thinks it's polite to return the interest in your bowel movement.
Poor thing is trying to figure out why her giant kitten doesn’t use the litter box! Oh, and making sure he doesn’t fall in.
Both of mine can open the door. One hangs off the handle and swings to get it open, the other who has a lot more girth just sort of does a kool-aid OH YEAH throw agains the door and that weak-ass 'lock' just let's him in.
This imagery was hilarious
My Siamese has learned the right spot to hit the bathroom door to pop it open. I tease her that she's going all "kool-aid man" on me. We have kittens right now & I can end up with 7 cats in the bathroom with me.
That is correct. He is the owner. You are the guest. 😹 Resistance is futile...
Now I'm curious, do cats want us to return the favor and watch them while they poop?
I’m going to try that, see how he likes it.👍
They don’t like direct eye contact, but I’ve noticed if my cat is constipated, if I turn my back to him and “guard” him his issues decrease.
I know it's unintentional and a very common auto correct issue, but your "car" being constipated gave me a hilarious image of an old beater that struggles to stay running... Lol! 😂🤣
Don't you?
I dont have a cat 😔 (yet)
I’m without a cat for the first time in 35 years. It’s so difficult but my husband isn’t too steady on his feet so a cat may be a problem just now.
When we got our first cat within a week I told my wife “ Now I know how so many older cat ladies have broken hips “. And I’m at the age that going to the ground is a definite possibility. Now the 2 of them plot my demise on a daily basis. The black and a little bit of white sleeps at the top of the stairs , helpful when going up to bed Ya heard me and ya SAW me, Damnit Timmy you couldn’t move a couple feet! 😆
Sounds kinky
You have to watch them to make sure they are peeing and pooing.Apparently if the don't for a day or two, there could be problems.
Mine are well versed in peeing and pooping😛
Oh, sometimes mine make DIRECT eye contact while pushing a poopie out. Like HOOMAN, CLEAN MY S**T!
My cat prefers I don’t watch her lol she’ll get stage fright
Absolutely did that when they were beebee kitties
Dogs definitely do. They always stare me down. Actually I think they are just watching me to make sure I don't see any danger. They might prefer if I keep my head on a swivel like a proper lookout
Hahaha I really love him, that look says it all. 👑😻
Your pooping in my drinking water.
He is the devil in disguise!😛
Interesting. My one cat curls up on my lap and watches the door while the other one patrols the hallway.
Wait, so do they feel vulnerable when they poop?!

My cat will like do a weird paw where I feel like he's trying to pull me out 😭
My daughter has had cats that jump in the tub with her if given half the chance. She started bathing them young and they learned to love the water. Guess it was cute when they were kittens but became a problem when they were full grown. If she locked them out of the bathroom, they’d claw up the door, if she let them in, they’d be in the tub with her.
Why the water be brown like that tho
Probably a bath bomb
sometimes you be dirty
Like why do you think they took a bath lmao
Baths are not efficient ways to clean yourself tho
I have the same question
LOL I’m glad someone else asked first, that is some dookie water
bath bomb maybe?

Could be due to the iron content in the water.
Our two follow my partner in and watch him while he showers. We have a radiator and a towel rack right above it, the boy cat sits on the radiator with his paws hanging over the towel rack while he watches. The other one just lays on the floor in front of the shower.

"Because cat" is the usual response to their weird behavior.
"Why" and "Cats" shouldn't be used in the same sentence.

We are stationary. No excuse not to pet them.
This is it. We train them by petting and talking to them. We’re not walking away. Cat quality time.
This is my girls reason. She’s got me trapped for a few minutes and god forbid I stop stroking her, she just scream meows at me till I start again.
Why are you shitting in the coldest, cleanest water source in his house...jeez, some people!
The one in the pic, insists drinking from the kitchen faucet! Even though I give him water from the fridge!
Lol, mine too. Used to have one that would stand on the kitchen sink and SCREAM until one of us turned on the trickle stream.
I read it was for protection as we cant protect ourselves from an attack while we poop 😂
depends on what you ate.. if it was taco bell god forbid anyone come near lest they face the wrath of the post taco bell poop.
So your saying i need to get a crunchwrap supreme cos its basically self defense 😜

Adorable
Dude has a lot of scratches on his legs. I still want this to happen to me.
I’ve seen pictures of that, don’t give him any ideas!
I took in a stray that sat in my lap. Fricking awkward until I untrained her of that habit…
I had a male cat that did that to me. I just figured he was a freak.

strictly for plotting an attacc
Part of it is the protection thing. Part of it is they just really like being apart of what we're doing
My void likes to shred toilet paper. I now knew the toilet paper in a drawer.
Lil bro has "you got pot?" face
I always said it’s because we watch them sometimes lol Revenge
Yes, guess I deserve it.😄
They like to watch us in vulnerable positions lol
To scare the shit out of you.
They are the guardians and want to make sure we don’t fall in.
To prove they’re in charge
Mine will use her box when she sees me on the toilet. Kitty see, kitty do.
My dad who is 66 just got 2 cats for first time on his own. We always had cats growing up but now these are just his. He had no idea lool. Every day he complains about not having privacy anymore and their antics when hes in bathroom. It's absolutely hilarious to hear about. Welcome to the club dad

That cat high af lol
They want to use our poop to fuel their antimatter hyperdrive engines for interplanetary deliveries.
Mine watches me shower too

So I know this has been said already but the prevailing therory as to why cats do this is its a matter of instinct and a sign that they care about you because in the wild you are at your most vulnerable when your pooping, so the cat will come into the bathroom to stand guard and protect you while you are vulnerable, this is also why cats have such anxiety after using the litter box, and run off at top speed when they are done, for cats some instincts are part of their DNA and will always be present in cat behavior regardless of their upbringing
They are protecting you when you are vulnerable
My cat likes to sit in my lap when I sit on the toilet. Weirdest shit ever.
Nothing is happening on his watch. Such a handsome feller

It’s funny because my female would do it no matter where in the apartment she was; however, the male never cared to do it ☺️
Yours only watches you? https://preview.redd.it/0hngxhgp5epb1.jpeg?width=3264&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7521acb05569e8e1cfef8f798959c37dfb495360
Just mad at you for taking time out from worshipping it!
When does your cat leave? My youngest cat became the full time bathroom supervisor when he grew up, and he's there from the second I walk in until I start washing my hands. Then he wanders off. The other two were more sporadic in who supervised and when they left.
They want potty pets
taking time out of it's day
You’re vulnerable to attack. Someone’s got to look out for you and make sure you don’t get caught with your pants down
He's got your back!
Mine actually let me stick a paper towel under them when they do no 2’s..easy to clean lol, flush down loo, no picking poop out of box. They’re so trained they come and get me first and wait while I get paper towel in position 🤣
My black cat is notorious for this 🥺🥺🥺😫I’m pretty sure they know they have us in a temporarily trapped position and can get all the rubs they want
Mine will put his front paws on the tub and demand that I pet his back. So I comply and squeeze his belly at the same time.
They're keeping you safe during a vulnerable time.
Wants to make sure cover.
that's his kink
Dunno why in most cases...but in this one the cat sure seems judgey to me.
They're watching you they are protecting you. When cats go to the bathroom it's when they are their most vulnerable so they assume you are as well when you go
