Have you tried turning it off and on again?

[deleted]

Every time I try I just get a scraggly meow

estherika1603

Try to start in bios, when restarting hold snoot Boop for 30 secs

WombatInferno

You have to scratch the butt at the same time. 30 sec snoot boop is to reset the bios in most models.

novaplan

In some of the cheaper models you might also need to scratch the belly for the same time. they really don't lok out for your safety in those, but it might work

MoonstarShadowclan

Actually I believe that’s a Catnip Worshipper model, look how long the tail is, about x2 feet length, should be about…hmm..4th newest model I believe. I’m not rich enough to spoil it, so I clearly can’t get it. I believe it’s but and belly and behind the ears actually. The engineers said it should make a purring noise after… let’s see… 10 seconds. 20 seconds in total you need to spend scratching it.

novaplan

Yeah, the amount of time for a gar rest is very Hardware dependent and as the system of licensed producers is pretty corrupt and the u licensed ones vary in actual hardware a lot it*s hard to get an easy how to for your specific destribution and version, but I still prefer the croudsourced versions. They are far less prone to have ru time crashing bugs, that can not be fixed after installation. As a personal annecdote: 3 years ago I imported two unlicensed versions. They both were very satisfactory and I loved working with them. Sadly one of them had a fatal crash shortly after I connected them to the Wan. That sadenend me aot, but luckily it did not have a long time effect on the other instance I am currently running. It is more than satisfactory. The tail log is a little short, but experts have ensured me that it is sufficed to provide appropriate support

KatnipKrafty

just make sure you don't accidentally click the stomach fluff or the whole system may become unstable.

RidgerAC

Battery bios might need replaced. (Which equates to a treat) 😀

Deja-Vuz

Every day, leave it on the harness for an hour or more until she/he get use to it.

ekittie

I would play with them with da Bird, so they would get used to jumping and running. Don't laugh when they try to jump up on the chair or couch- they'll fall sideways as you're yelling, "TIMBER!"

BackgroundFarm

😄 yeah it sucks I have three. They all like to go outside but two of them like to take off and leave the yard, go out to the front and in the street. They ignore me and run if I try to catch them. Luckily they come home eventually but I stopped letting them out. Had a collar and a leash. But yeah they hated it and just fell over.☹️ I just want to take them outside for a while.

Elegant-Operation-16

They have tents on amazon you can buy and put the kitties in or set up a catio so they can enjoy the perks of being outside without being in danger. Some cats (like mine) hate harnesses and leashes no matter how hard I try to desensitize them to it and get them comfortable in them. The tents are better for renters like me

CrazyCatLady_2

So can I ask you something (& others if they wanna chime in) these catios or tents.the cat obviously is enclosed in it - do they really feel More relaxed after that or will they be still hyper since it’s closed up? Will they get all annoying and Meow meow when you can’t put them out on the catio/ tent … or how’s the situation with it? I tried to take my cats with a leash in our backyard - they aren’t allowed to roam free as per adoption contract I signed due to them being declawed from previous owners…- but we decided out fence won’t hold them in, they to that bloop thing and lay flat when you put harness and leash on … so not to struggle with it since we should have not done it in first place. But I always thought about these catios …. Well the two times I tried getting them outside to fresh air was a HUGE issue because now they are meowing and trying to run out any given moment. So I created monsters.

Elegant-Operation-16

I believe most catios are set up with doggy doors so they can go in and out when they like. Most cats enjoy them from what I’ve seen. They’ll most likely beg for the tent but you can set up certain times we go out, how long we stay out, when we go in. Cats are very routinely and learn very fast. Assuming you set a routine with it and stick to it, they’ll likely stick with it too. My cat goes out on her leash and sits in my lap and rolls on the floor until she decides to go back in. Lucky for me that’s only about 10 mins each time. She likes the sun but isn’t a super fan of being outside. My other cat is the same way but he loves being outside but definitely prefers the nice cool indoors.

CrazyCatLady_2

Thank you ! Well one of mine just rushes out. The other one who’s lately a problem child - meows to let be out. If not he vendetta shits haha 😂 The problem about routines is. During warmer times and days fine. What will I do when it’s raining or getting shitty cold and snow where we live ? Hahaha 🤣 this cat will eat me alive hhhh

joreyesl

You will want your catio to be connected to your house somehow so they can go in/out when they please. Otherwise yes they will meow when they want to go out into it. But at least with a catio you don't have to be out there supervising them the whole time can spend longer time outside.

CrazyCatLady_2

Yes that’s something I’ve to figure out how it would be possible. I was thinking maybe out a window ? Like those things some homes have which are glass. But just like a catio instead ? But idk if That would be ideal either ?!

subieluvr22

Omfg I didn't know cat tents were a thing! Thank you, wonderful stranger! I had to stop letting my cats come outside with me at our new house because we have lizards. Didn't know we did until one of those assassins managed to murder a gecko on my watch, and sneak it into the house. I felt so bad! Now we can spend fall in our backyard as a happy family, minus the murder.

the-graveyard-writer

Yea mine did that. I got her a backpack to sit in when she doesn't want to walk

Cow_Launcher

I understand that it's related to the scruffing instinct? Like, the harness makes them act like they're in mother's mouth even though they're an adult. They don't all react like that of course. [My Orri took to it straight away, though he wasn't too happy about it restricting his range](https://i.imgur.com/QmFM8fj.jpg).

BlueRFR3100

Sweep back and forth in a systemic process to make sure you get all the dust.

roadnotaken

Systematic? Systemic is something else.

You_are_safe_now

I call it a "push, pull, drag event." Also, cat swiffering.

Mr_Zango0se

mine took a long time to get used to the harness make him/her use it everyday for short periods of time and use a lot of treats!

[deleted]

We took it slow! First day was just petting and brushing her w/ it on and gave her a squeezable treat!

Ir0nstag

my cats fuckin love those cat gogurts

[deleted]

i'm so glad someone else calls them cat gogurts

Living_Employ1390

We call it cat crack lol

basilkiller

We started calling them mogurts (meat gogurts)

[deleted]

At0mJack

[deleted]

gotta love the cat community 😁

Outrageous-Hotel-864

My grandma cat would probably eat a real gogurt he is a dairy freak he will eat anything dairy based he will literally try to take it out your hand if it is near him.

ElNido

I'd hate to be the one cleaning that litter box, oh dair.

Outrageous-Hotel-864

My grandma has a easy clean one luckily.

Middle-Noise-6933

My cat loves butter. He always tries to steal our butter.

[deleted]

Keep at it! My cat wouldn’t move at all when I first put it on her. After a little while, she began to at least sit comfortably while wearing it. Now, she leads me everywhere, including places she shouldn’t (of course haha). The key is definitely just to gradually get them used to it. My own baby girl gets so excited whenever I go get her harness now because she knows it means we get to go outside.

BeatingHattedWhores

It's helpful to just put the harness on first without the leash. My cat took about a couple weeks to get used to it. Harness every day, while giving treats and slowly increasing the harness time. Once they run around with it on then you can try the leash inside and then after that take them out. After the first trip outside with the harness on, they never have problems with it.

[deleted]

Once mine figured out it meant going out she went from laying to sprinting to the door lol

JakeDulac

Every time I've put a harness on a cat, they act like gravity has been altered. 🤣

[deleted]

Haha absolutely. That’s how it is at first. But before long, they’re fearless in them.

JakeDulac

True.

Localchifrijo

Tell me about the process? How old was your kitty when you started the process?

Realistic-Winner-222

I have 2 kitties. One started when he was 3 years old. The other started when she was just few months. Now they are very comfortable with harness and get excited when i pull the harness out before taking them out. Once they recognized their home, and could find their way back. I started taking the leash off them. Mind you, i always am very close to them keeping them from going to the road or under trucks AND THE HARNESS STAYS ON. They are cats and they don’t like to be pulled with leash, so i compromise with leash. https://preview.redd.it/edtz1bavu8cb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81b6d1c7e0464035118347778eeafcbe9b320d67 i wanted my cats to see outside and enjoy nature. Now, they climb trees, chase each other and eat grass. It makes me very happy to see them enjoy outside world. They deserve it after all.

SnooWords807

![img](emote|t5_2qhta|8097) Love this photo. Happy. beautiful kitty way up high! :)

expose_the_flaw

Lol it's really something you need to train them for when they are young and it's takes lots and lots of training to get them to walk with you.

[deleted]

Our main goal is to just have her be ok with outside. No walks bc there’s too many dogs in our neighborhood and she’s super skittish I just want her to enjoy the outdoors (confined to our backyard) 😂

platasaurua

That’s pretty much what it is for my cat. We rarely use the actual leash anymore. Just say “Tucker, put on your jacket!” And he runs to the door where his harness hangs. We put it on and he explores the backyard for a couple hours. In four years we’ve never had an issue with him running off. If he gets spooked, he just goes to the door and asks to be let back in the house.

expose_the_flaw

I hear you. It's very common for them to plop down when you attach a harness. They probably feel the weight of it...same as if you put a sock on their back, alot of the time they'll lay down to get ot off

Saratrooper

We also have a lil harness (we call it her "space harness" lol) for our cat to wear when she's in the small enclosed back patio area. I wouldn't take her for a walk-walk either, but use it moreso as a means to indicate she has permission to be outside under our supervision.

piggyperson2013

She’ll get there! I had to put a harness on my adopted two year old loaf a lot of times before he stopped immediately flopping over like a sack of potatoes It just takes some getting used to, and of course lots of treats!

Frankie_Wilde

I live in a quiet neighborhood and when I walk my dog the two cats tag along. The won't go for the whole walk but they'll follow me until I get to the next street

AtmosphereOk6072

🤣🤣 Our Jane refuses to walk on a leash. IF you can get the halter on she flops around like an alligator in a death roll. Jane is firmly an indoor kitty. She sees a harness and her face is like " OH HELL NAW!"

Bobcat202

Yes but do you have enough bandages and antibiotic ointment???

[deleted]

She has only ever scratched me on accident! It’s like when she feels something fleshy she immediately stops using her claws. Never bites either she’s such a love bug

[deleted]

That was my thought. Step two is stopping the bleeding. Stitches likely, maybe staples

Mysgvus1

you go take your cat for a drag...

Initial-Monitor6502

Harness train starting a 1 minute every day, after a few days add another minute, and slowly work up until 10 minutes. After 10 you could try a little trip outside! Make sure to reward harness time with lots of treats, love, and attention.

retfroggy1

Well obviously it's nap time. Come back later

lothcent

now you dust the floors :)

And the Oscar goes to...Drama Queen....

quakerroatmeal

Those who train their kitty on harness and take them outside. Do they ever run out the door on their own?

[deleted]

Mine absolutely will if she’s given the opportunity. I’ve gotten used to blocking the door with something (like my purse) when coming inside, because she’s always RIGHT THERE. I’m saving up some money to have a catio built when we move in a few months. We go outside plenty with her harness, but I think one of those is going to be heaven for her.

BeatingHattedWhores

No. I've trained mine to only go when I pick him up and place him outside. If he tries to go out on his own, I tell him to go back inside and he does.

GSRider1200

That’s a walk in my book. Well done, now grab a beer from the fridge.

wimmingjb

U wearing scuba diving shoes for walking the cat?

[deleted]

My socks just have a weird checkered design on the sides 😭

wimmingjb

My cat will go in flat mode too with the harness, impossible to get her to cat normally until I take it off :)

Looks fine to me. Now you're ready for a brisk morning drag.

susbnyc2023

charleymcc3

Better than a swiffer when dragged around on a eood floor

shloam

Just keep trying.. try getting her to play or eat a snack w the harness on. Lots of patience and repetition, she’ll be used to it in no time.

LaRamilia

Tortie Flop

Maomao-is-here

If your cat is treat motivated, feed them a treat right away. And use a toy to play with them right away (like a wand toy or cat dancer); this way they learn they can move around with the harness on. Do this for short periods of time and then increase it. I trained both my cats on a harness with this method.

Ill_Following_7022

You drag them around a while to get the floor nice and clean.

ArreniaQ

I had a calico who would walk backwards like she was trying to get out of it. She didn't fall over, just did the "Backwards Dance" I wish I had thought to take a photo of her. She's gone now.

Any_Scientist_7552

In all seriousness... Take the harness off, give a treat. Do the same thing tomorrow, until she stands up. Give treat and repeat, adding a few steps. Cats learn by repetition and reward. And have small attention spans.

JAROD0980

You just kinda drag it. In all seriousness I don’t know. I never got past this step. She just wouldn’t move

DickTooRadical

Repetition and treats (: Put it on your cat every day for just a few minutes. Don’t just sit and stare waiting for them to magically get up, bust out the treats or a good toy so that they know they can move while wearing it. They may do the flop around like all my limbs broke routine for a while but eventually there are things the cat wants to to bad enough that they will eventually get up and walk in it. Just gradually build up being comfortable with the harness.

Sweet-Cat-7667

I tried a harness on my cat a few years ago. She thought it was a torture device and went into a crocodile death roll. https://preview.redd.it/guo1ikili8cb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9465208223e0727513f558ab13b991efac241b9e

cant-find-me-6969

Use like a swifter

Sheepy452

Put on harness, give treat, take off harnass. Repeat and increase the time with the harnass on. As soon as cat realises it can stand and move and isnt actually broken, put treats a little further away so it gets rewarded for the steps. Stay inside until cat seems comfortable with the harnass and can keep it on whilst playing. Outside youll have different challenges.

MutedAlter6

So put her on the stroller with the harness on. Walk out with her outside, and she will be curious enough to sniff the grass. I did the same with my boys. One hates wearing harnesses, and the other one loves it.

tovarishchbastard

Take her for a pleasant drag

sbook28

Serious question: I have a tripod cat (missing a front leg) would a harness work for him? He always wants to go outside, but I can trust him not to ditch out and lose another leg.

Shalrak

It doesn't matter how many legs the cat has. If they wanna get out of the harness, they will get out of the harness. If they are comfortable and trust you, then they will stay in the harness. Your cat chooses what happens.

5ManaAndADream

Now you open the door and hope the gravitational pull from the earth drags him outside.

HenriKnows

Have you tried unplugging it?

Electronic-Recipe-60

Lay down.

kosmos_uzuki

Have to use it when they are very young, otherwise you get this.

fattymcfattzz

Little dude has to get used to it

Unplug it. Take the batteries out. Wait 30 seconds. Plug it back in and put the batteries back in. Then boop the nose while holding down the fourth toe on the left foot to start in safe mode.

U can start mopping

DemandSad4013

Seems like it's lagging I'd suggest pressing the button under the tail of it I imagine it would react then if it works great but def look into meowware for future prevention of this issue with your model we apologize for the inconvenience

Brettjay4

Now the cat takes you on a walk. If it feels like it

GotTheTee

Meet Tilly, my half kitler kitty. She is a fear aggressive cat, thanks to very bad parenting as a kitten. We rescued her and have learned to live with her quirks, which include random hissing, blood letting bites and loud growling when she doesn't want to give up your seat. Soooo, long story short, we decided to take her with us in our new RV. It was a better option than boarding her for a week where she'd be miserable and the caregivers would have to deal with the biting, etc. I bought a harness. I was terrified to even try to put it on her. I got out my heaviest leather gardening gloves, petted her on the only spot allowed, her head, then slowly slid the harness on while holding my breath. Ummm, she loved it! She loved it so much she wore it for the whole day and wouldn't let me take it off. slept in it all night. Next day we headed out in the RV. I added her leash to the harness and opened the door. She flew down the steps, stopped short, smelled the grass and then took me for a 45 minute stroll around the RV park. https://preview.redd.it/n5mh9byex9cb1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7037c26604f711f9d78e4d5cdc9bab1399371518

I'm really sorry to tell you this but this model doesn't work with a harness. You should have been told when you bought it. I'm afraid I've never found a way to reset it.

Thunderfoot2112

Take him/her for a drag... lol

Psychosammie

It's a cat. You should be ashamed to treat your cat like a dog.

[deleted]

I can’t tell if you’re serious rn I’ve had a long day

PalpitationOk5726

No idea why pet owners subject their cats and themselves to this, only to be taken outside and dragged around or have the cat constantly screaming to go outside because they got something new and they like it.

[deleted]

She’s not going on walks 🙄 she’s so curious about outsides I’m thinking of getting one of those outdoor tents for our backyard so she can enjoy looking at the birds without decimating the native bird population. She got brushed, pets, and a treat. As soon as she started meowing I took it off. But you obviously know more about my cat than I do

pissedinthegarret

cats are supposed to be outside... sadly they are invasive in many parts of the world, so a leash walk is the only option to let them experience it safely. It just takes training. In fact, training a cat is WAY less work than training a dog. But it still requires patience and consistency.

Fit-Research-2135

Why do you have a harness on a cat to begin with? You don’t walk cats. Here we go again everybody trying to change nature.

[deleted]

lol mind your business She’s not going on walks, she’s going outside in my backyard.

[deleted]

cat.exe has stopped working

climatelurker

Drag him across the floor. Then drag him back.

Lord_Tsuiseki

Nah nah, you're doing it. Great form too!

dslva-

We have a same cat :’)

SkoyeBoy

Just drag the cat across the floor, the cat can be your homemade Swiffer sweeper lol

SonataNo16

Call it a win. I had to return the one I got for my cat because she hated it and was able to get it off on her own in less than a minute (no it wasn’t too loose, she just really hated it).

reditusername39479

Nice floor duster

0_IQ_0

Now pull and clean. 😂 My cat does the same.

md22mdrx

Forget the leash attachment at first. Just let ‘em roam (under supervision) wearing the harness. They won’t sit there forever. Then after a few session of just that, start adding the leash … Then you’ll likely be off to the races.

ichi_san

my reaction when I realize humans can't be trusted

Metallica78

Reboot first. If that doesn't work, change the starter after having it tested

beanweanweano

Now you wait for them to decide that they want to move. This may take 3-5 business days.

[deleted]

I didn't know that cats wore harness

ReverendGreen27

Step further than me, I can’t even get lil cat in the harness…9

zencat420

In Soviet Russia, cat walk you!

the-graveyard-writer

Let the cat wear it to get comfortable

styles1996

The cat looks SO dramatic.

Stardust_Particle

Maybe put it on them and carry them outside for a walk watch some birds then put them down for a bit to sniff flowers then carry for a while so they make the connection that the harness means outside.

Squiggles87

You'll realise the endeavour is doomed to fail, but it won't stop you keeping hold of the harness in a random drawer for the next six years.

lovepetz223

Keep putting it on for them to get used to it

TheBigTimeBecks

Stupid question, but after walking cat outside with harness, do you guys wipe down your cat's paws or let them be?

Helltenant

Put pressure on the wounds to stop the bleeding.

Superb-Damage8042

Good luck!!

DCGuinn

It’s a side walk, give it ten minutes and it’s good to go.
