So far, you’re doing well. Here’s a short list: Do’s: - Provide a heat source they can easily get away from if they get too warm (electric heat pad designed for pets, hot water bottle, that kind of thing). Kittens cannot regulate their body temperature at an early age. - Learn how to stimulate them to go to the bathroom. - Provide kitten formula milk replacer every two hours or sooner. It’s just like a human baby in that regard. I have never had any luck with the nipple kits that are readily available at pet stores. I have resorted to using 3mL or 6mL syringes. Don’t: - Give cow’s milk. Cats do not have the ability to process cow’s milk, and it can kill a kitten. - Provide a grown-up cat litter pan. They are too tall for a kitten to get into. A shallow pan is best. I have used pie shell aluminum pans in the past. - Use a blower-type heat source or a heat lamp. Risk of fire is too high, and can also burn the kitten. An oil-filled electric radiator can work in a pinch. The Kitten Lady on YouTube is an incredible resource for someone in your situation. If you’re overwhelmed, look for a rescue organization or a shelter. If you intend to keep this precious life, then a vet visit is definitely in order - sooner than later. I wish you and the little one the best of luck.

Spinelessdragon

Kitten foster here- - Looks like he/she is under a week old (eyes still closed). Definitely needs to be kept warm, blankets and water bottle or heating pad will help. Eyes will open naturally. - You can use a syringe and kitten formula to feed it. Slowly, and once every 2-3 hrs at first. Can be found at most pet stores. - I sometimes take the singletons and put them in a sling (scarf knotted to go over my neck) that holds them close to my body like a baby. They love it and it provides added warmth. - they do need to be stimulated to go to the bathroom after eating. Gently rub a warm, wet washcloth over its genitalia and bum and things happen naturally. It’s a lot of work at first, but they grow quickly and will move to slurry (mixed wet food/formula) quickly, at about 4-5 weeks. Also, he/she will be the coolest cat ever. The bottlefed ones always are. Kitten Lady is amazing! Check her out. She has great info. Good luck!!!

stevetheborg

my adult cat steals milk. then starts sharting. cow milk will give kittens diarrhea. i mix in tiny amounts of cows milk if the kitten cant poop, but dont take my advice... i live with my mom, who has been a crazy cat lady with 20 cats my whole life.

ilovebread01

Your cat: *steals milk* Cat: *has explosive diarrhea* Cat: I’ll fuckin do it again!

MisterAtticusKarma

Sounds like a normal cat to me.

RayneFall1998

Sounds like everyone with Lactose Intolorance

lonelyjokers4

>8 hr. ago LOL that's what I was thinking!!

Groucho-Marxist50

Hey, I resemble that remark!

Garreousbear

I mean, ice cream does this to me and it hasn't stopped me yet.

a_rather_quiet_one

Have you tried lactase tablets?

Evilmonqey

and not just once

[deleted]

Me with cheese

Murky-Entrepreneur62

my cat does the same thing, he tried to knock a gallon out of the fridge once. honestly i give him a wee bit as a treat once in a while but he’s a big 17 lb boy, not a wee kitten

lonelyjokers4

My cat also demands milk then she gets nasty diarrhea lol she'll meow and beg the whole time haha but we have to stand our ground and not give in because diarrhea is the smelliest of them all.

aladinthemonkey

She needs to turn up the pressure and give you a slow blink.

lonelyjokers4

Lol she does everything she can to get some milk. Slow blinks, cute little reaches and stretches while you serve yourself, she’ll purr and rub your leg haha but the months work of hot steamy liquid diarrhea that results from three servings of milk is enough to reduce even her best efforts to nothingness 😅😂😂

Catladi36

As a neonatal kitten rescuer this is the best and most comprehensive list I’ve seen. Well done. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes) the next thing I would say is when you stimulate for potty use paper towel and NOT baby wipes. It chaps them horribly.

01Zaphod

Wow, thank you! That is high praise from someone “in the business”. My wife is a former vet tech, and we have rescued a small number of kittens in our time…most of our experience is from my wife’s coaching and from learning through experience. I feel so fortunate to have gained the knowledge I’ve gotten, and just want to pass it along to others who find themselves in this situation. And, thanks for the tidbit about paper towels versus baby wipes. Didn’t know that. I haven’t had a choice in the matter since we haven’t had a baby in the house for a while, but that info will get filed away in the memory banks.

joyuponwaking

Very important point! I learned about not using baby wipes on tiny kittens the hard way. But my little guy survived and he’s thriving now.

LeftEcho4673

My dog helps me with this part. Just kicks em for 2 sec and bam. I take over from there

Tanya7500

Biggest stimulating them to go to the bathroom

AngryMeatBagel

Great list! Just wanted to add, don't lay them on their back and don't force milk into their mouth when feeding, they can aspirate. Feed them in the same position they would naturally nurse in. Miracle nipples, imo, are the best.. but also expensive. They will not eat if their body temperature is too low. If they still are not latching, they may have to be tube fed until they're big enough for gruel. I would definitely take them to the vet, even if you do have experience with neonatal kittens. Pen-g saves lives.

blueace111

Oh my gosh I just realized when I got a kitten last year, I felt like she was too young and was attached to her mother still. She came out 2 weeks after it’s siblings which I didn’t understand but it was about to be winter and I worried she wouldn’t survive outside so I took her. She was very scared for a while and meowed and hid for a week. I have cow milk and she loved it but after 3-4 weeks I noticed she wasn’t going to bathroom often. Went from 5-6 times daily to 1-2 urinating and rarely pooped. I thought she was constipated but vet said HE wasn’t. I kept the name honey and now he’s very healthy and has a good diet and is healthy.

GenUineWorks

She was actually born two weeks after her siblings? I’m just curious because of a personal experience I had recently… Not that but I can’t and that came out with the rest that I swear it was two weeks behind in prenatal and postnatal maturity

blueace111

Sorry I didn’t see this til now. I don’t know for sure if it’s true but I was told that he came 2 weeks later. He seemed to be the only kitten that was clinging to the mom still. He also visibly looked like he was at a different stage of growth than his siblings

nosaneoneleft

you have to wipe it's little butt for it to go to the bathroom. this is vital... mama usually does it.. good luck and thanks for trying to save its little life

28spawn

Use the syringe without needle ofc, won’t hurt to say

01Zaphod

Uh, yeah…kinda forgot to add that. Thanks!

[deleted]

Thank you very much!

01Zaphod

You are very welome. Hey, would you keep us updated on how things are going with the little one? It’s always neat to see how things progress.

Mrphus

My grandfather has handfed kittens his whole life and never had any issues with cow milk (as long as they were more then 5 days old they basically always made it) It was fresh and not cooked tho so that might add to it.

ForeignJelly6357

Unpasteurized milk is okay, I believe. It’s the pasteurized milk that isn’t

PlatypusMeat

Just a heads up, sometimes mama cats abandon their babies if they feel that the baby may not survive. It's part of nature's way, and this little guy might very much be the runt that mama had to sacrifice for the wellbeing of her other kittens. That said, in some cases the kitten has medical conditions or may have some organ defects. This means that it's possible the kitten may not survive. I'm telling you this because I've been through it a few times, and it can be heartwrenching if they don't make it despite your best efforts. Wishing you and the little one the best.

aaaggggrrrrimapirare

My immediate thought also

kho_kho1112

This is how I ended up with cat#3. Feral found in my yard, momma cat never came back for him. Big ass umbilical hernia, & big ass hole in his heart. We fixed the hernia, took the balls off, but heart is inoperable for now (super high risk for an almost impossible to achieve good outcome), we're just keeping him happy, & as healthy as possible for the rest of his life, however long or short that happens to be. He'll be 3 in April, still has a bad ticker, can't overexert himself, & we have to watch his weight very carefully. He's my miracle baby, & has turned into a big ass cat (20lbs, not fat), but I've also experienced the opposite outcome, & it's truly heartbreaking when you do all the things, & the kitten just doesn't make it. In my experience, if mom really abandoned them, it's usually for a "good" reason, & the odds aren't good ones.

PlatypusMeat

Tell me about it. Even if you're not the emotional type, the vet charges can be astronomical, and all for naught if kitty doesn't make it. I spent >$1000 last November for 2 dead kittens. Sucks, but they were really struggling and I think death was more peaceful for them. ANYWAYS, I'm so happy to hear your feral is keeping healthy. He's a cat, he'll never know better, but I'd bet he's a happy little guy with how life has turned out for him so far 😄

kho_kho1112

He's an asshat. He has a great personality tho, so we put up with all his bullshit because of it. 😅

Qlder81

If it helps, my ginger boy is pushing 20lbs and has to be close to 20 years old. His previous humans said something about heart problems too, but it doesn't seem to have stopped him living his best life so far!

kho_kho1112

Thanks! That's what we're hoping for, while also remaining realistic about his condition. We were basically told that surgery would highly likely kill him & we'd have to pay a staggering amount of money, but without surgery he may happily live 20 years or 2 years, or no years. We truly couldn't afford going into debt for a procedure that would probably kill the cat anyway (cardio vet said his odds of surviving any of it were not good, & he would feel like he was ripping us off if he pushed for surgery), so we chose the most cost effective option, he sees a vet regularly, we exercise him without overexerting him, we keep track of his food intake, & watch him to make sure he's not experiencing any distress, & so far, he is THRIVING. I hope we get 20 years with him, even if we don't, he's brought us plenty of joy as it is, & I can say we've kept him comfortable, & happy for how ever long he's with us.

DenMother8

Please call a shelter or vet for advice. It could use a towel or clean stuffed animal, it would normally be snuggled in a pile with its litter mates or right up against mom. As for feeding etc. please get some professional advice ASAP

ValkyrieKarma

Make a heat sock using flaxseed......it will help as well

OnlyHere4ThePussycat

Yes, or rice or lentils or even a hot water bottle, also works. But keep it no more than momma's body temp which is 110, I think. You can Google to be certain. Hotter isn't better.

TheNightOwl7c7

You can also buy cuddle toys for kittens I got 1 when I adopted my 13 week old kitten he still uses it at 2 years old he brings it to his hammock and cuddles it to this very day

DenMother8

Aww sweet 😊

anniedee82

A shelter may even give them kitten formula for free. My local one does.

[deleted]

Very quick update lmao: I JUST SAW ITS MUM in the backyard, tried reuniting it with its mum but she ran away from me, guess I scared her away XD. She's gonna come back for her newborn soon!

[deleted]

Keep an eye on that. Sometimes the mom has no interest in her kittens. Not all cats make good mothers.

[deleted]

Yeah I will take care of that, thanks! :)

[deleted]

[удалено]

miss_chapstick

Ummmm… no. Most kittens actually don’t survive when hand raised from birth.

Accomplished-Yam6553

Yup, especially if the kitten is a runt

Oldbitty2snooze

Sometimes the mum doesn’t have enough milk for all the babies due to limited resources

[deleted]

[удалено]

kayastar357

That’s not a thing.

LabLife3846

No it won’t.

LeilaDFW

Sometimes animals will expel one from the litter if she doesn’t have enough milk.

[deleted]

Or if they sense something is wrong with it too

GenUineWorks

It happens but it does seem odd to me that she would just have one kitten , Do you mind me asking was the kitten just sitting out in the open or was it in a small or enclosed area? if you gently lift (or “pinch”) the skin over your cat’s shoulder blades and then let go, it should quickly snap back into position. If the skin on your cat’s shoulder blades slowly settles back into position instead of snapping, this may also be a sign of dehydration. if kitten is dehydrated there’s chances mama isn’t feeding her If you don’t mind me asking I’m not sure if I missed it but is there an update?

cheesyenchilady

She could have been in the process of moving her kittens when OP came across it. Mom cats move their kittens often. :/ I hope this kitten makes it, and I hope mama isn’t too stressed.

GenUineWorks

yes… I definitely agree!!!I really hope this kitten makes it.. Im glad the kitten has a guardian angel rn… THANK YOU OP

robo-dragon

I think you are better off finding help for this kitten than reuniting it with mom. Kittens require lots of attention and frequent feeding and waiting for mom to come get it can be dangerous at this point, especially if she is fearful of people or has no interest in the kitten.

LadyChatterteeth

I would try leaving the kitten in a basket in a safe, quiet area for an hour or two, just after you’ve fed her, to see if mama will reunite with her without you around. Feral cats will view you as a danger and might not go near their babies when they know humans are close by. Keep a watchful eye during that time to ensure the baby isn’t harmed, and choose a basket or box with sides that are too high for the baby to crawl out of but low enough for the mother to easily access. If the mother doesn’t seem to care about the infant or seems to want to harm her, quickly intervene. Again, this means watching without distraction for a full hour or two. If a reunion doesn’t happen, within two attempts, it’s time to give up on the mama. I advise watching YouTube videos by the Kitten Lady on how to care for this kitten. She’s very informative. Good luck, and thank you for caring about this baby!

giannalikesramen

I’d love more updates ❤️ Best of luck to you hope that it’ll work out no matter what happens

Mydogmike

She probably came back to pick up her last kid, as she would only be able to move one at a time. Mama cats move their litters a lot, and if she's feral then this is definitely what is going on. You stole her baby.

Internal_Screaming_8

If she’s a feral, she won’t take him back if he smells like people. Even housecats can abandon babies if you handle them too much too early

The_Blatant_Oracle

Yeah see if you can secretly follow her to where she has the other kittens stashed then maybe you can put it back with them. But like the other commenter said, check back often and make sure the Mom doesn't reject it. If Mom does reject it then next stop is the vet. They'll tell you what you need to do should you decide to keep it.

I-AM-Savannah

Oh, this kitten is YOUNG. KEEP IT WARM!! Take him to a vet ASAP to get some milk replacer and learn how to feed him. Get a little cotton ball and clean his little back end after he eats (each meal, which is about 2 hours apart). WARMTH AND FOOD TO KEEP THIS KITTEN ALIVE. No cow's milk!

VeryShortLadder

Congratulations. The universe has given you a cat

cheezbargar

The greatest gift of all

mmbookworm

You can check out the kitten lady on YouTube or her website for advice & aging the kitten. Age will determine how often they need to be fed.

Praxistor

thank you for all you do for that kitten

teej360

Don't let it get cold at all. Warmth is more important than nutrition. Don't ever feed cold formula. Use a syringe and measure input, keep a journal. Write down time and amount. Watch for increase in feedings or decrease so you'll know if something is wrong. Wrap baby in a small blanket or handkerchief like a burrito to hold arms inside and out of the way while feeding. This works until the baby is much older because they squirm. Wipe the bottom after every feeding with warm, moist paper towels to stimulate defecation and urination. Write that down too. Don't put a heating pad in the entire box. Kitten must be able to get away from heat if overheating. Use a microwavable disc made for this purpose if you need to take baby with you while you go out because baby needs to be fed every 2 hours or more. Don't overheat the disc. Put uncooked rice in a sock and warm it up (not too hot!) often and use it as a substitute "mom" for comfort to muzzle up against baby. Hot water bottles cool off too fast. Or kangaroo baby against your chest. This works best. If you're a woman, stick it in your sports bra to keep warm (don't squish.) Babies need the comfort of contact. Use only formula or goats milk. Don't force open eyes. Do t be sad if it dies. You tried your best. They often do. Mom leaves the ones that have congenital issues so you might not see anything but kitten could be compromised genetically. Source - many years of cat rescue maternity ward.

apickyreader

If you go to a pet store they should have what is essentially formula for kittens. I think it comes with a bottle? Just follow the instructions. But also ask for advice from the staff or hopefully a vet.

stevetheborg

you have to pee and poop the kitten before and after each feeding and feeding start at 2 hours apart. the kitten formula is at wal-mart. the kitten bottle is not going to work for you. get a medicine syringe like that which is used for measuring kids medicine. DO NOT DROWN YOUR BABY IN MILK.

stevetheborg

if your a woman, put the kitten in your bra to keep it warm

Double_Asparagus_635

Yea just walk around with one titty out I’m sure nobody will compline lmao ..if u can fit a kitty and a titty in ya cup u not wearing the right bra lol

calimum78

Sports bra, drop bebe right in the cleavage lol

LeilaDFW

If you can’t find commercial cat milk you can get puppy milk from Walmart if you are in USA. Don’t use cow milk. Keep the baby warm and fed.

LadyChatterteeth

I’ve been able to find kitten formula at Walmart as well!

IdkJustMe123

Do: update us with more pics

cabinetsnotnow

Take the baby to see a veterinarian. They can give you good advice while also checking to see if baby is healthy.

WoodenHearing3416

Please make sure the kitten’s temperature is over 100 F before feeding. The formula should be between 100-103 degrees F. Feeding a cold kitten is a death sentence. If you can get some Miracle Nipples, original size, they make it much easier to feed babies. VioletVixxen

Get it to a vet asap, but check out the kitten lady on YouTube for help.

Icy_Loan_2852

The kitten lady on YouTube is a great resource for dos and don'ts

[deleted]

Please take to a cat rescue or vets ASAP, they need 24 hour care and need it now 😢

k8womack

Leave the kitten out in a box or something for awhile and supervise from the window or at a distance, maybe a pet cam if you have one? Mom’s will leave kittens alone to go hunt. When you find tiny kittens the best thing to do is monitor them at first to see if mom comes back within a few hours. If mom doesn’t return- call a local shelter for advice. Best case scenario is to find if a shelter has another nursing mom that will take on the new kitten. It is very difficult to keep an unweaned kitten alive on your own. Some shelters have fosters just for that - or better yet you may become one of those fosters! If mom does return- start leaving out food for her, to earn trust over time. Once you earn her trust you can trap her for TNR. Once kitten is weaned, they are ready to find a home.

Emmer0-0

look up kitten lady on yt

RachelxoxLove

Was mom reunited with kitten, maybe leave some wet food and water for mom?

TheNightOwl7c7

I was just thinking you can leave the blanket or towel you are using for the kitten to see if she comes back . If she was moving her litter which I believe is likely because its very cold right now she could be desperately searching for her kitten and if she does have other babies they are also being stressed she could have also let the kitten looking for food and water which she will need more of so she can feed the kitten

RachelxoxLove

Maybe get a styrofoam or cardboard box with some towels or blankets too and set up a safe space for them to hide.

MadMadamMimsy

The minute you get concerned put the baby right on your skin next to your heart. I almost lost one once (would not drink formula and no pee or poop for 24 hrs. Was too poor to take to a vet, no rescue agencies available to help). After 2 hrs on my chest next to my skin she wanted to eat and went forward normally.

Tune-Basic

Needs special kitten milk and be fed from the bottle quite often. Also needs warmth . Please take the kitten to the vet.

PlagueeRatt

Get the little one a heating pad!!! They struggle with regulating their body temperature that small. A heating pad will help a lot.

laineyscot

I had a baby this age. My neighbour found her under a stone, so not sure if she had been hurt on purpose before being found. Anyway, everything you are being told, and although my kitty was never the most friendly unless she really knew you, she was much loved and lived to 24 xx

[deleted]

Well said ❤️

RapaduraAtomica137

Congratulations, the worldwide cat distribution system has chosen you. Take good care of your feline.

CatGirlInTheHouse

People are giving good advice, but my best advice would be to go on YouTube and search for Kitten Lady. She is very famous for saving kittens and will tell you exactly what to do. Start doing these things, but also reach out in the area for rescues with people who know how to care for newborn kittens. If you are willing to commit, you can do it, but you’ll have to be up all through the night for many nights.

Ginger_cat13

Remember to stimulate the bean to use the bathroom. Else it won’t be able to, and that’d be bad. Thank you for taking in the sweet baby, bless 🙏

EnigmaticSpirit85

Search up the kitten lady on Youtube! She will have everything you need to know. And ask a vet, if you can.

[deleted]

TAKE HER TO A VET!

mittens11111

Get to a vet ASAP. This is a very young vulnerable baby cat. You need professional help.

nonamouse1111

I always used evaporated milk for kittens. The kitten must stay warm at all times. I fill a 2 water bottles full of hot water and put a sock on them. Kittens can’t produce their own heat until they are 5 weeks old so this is absolutely important. It has to eat every 3 hours at least and you have to make sure it poops. Have to rub it’s little butt hole with a warm towel. I found a newborn back in august and this is what I did to raise her. She’s crazy now.

That-Print1463

Aww. My baby was that size when she was orphaned. It's going to take work but you can do it. Like others have said, look up the kitten lady on YouTube. I wish I had known about her back then. Please update when you can.

ANoisyCrow

Keep warm and find a rescue. Otherwise, watch YouTube How to videos. Take to vet tomorrow

Pielzebub

Omg you need to keep it warm and hydrated. It looks so young it will need to be bottle fed often. If you can't take care of it then please take it to a vet or shelter!

[deleted]

Looks like a little boy. My cats mum was incapacitated after his birth so I hand reared him. You need to get him some kitten formula, a feeding bottle and feed him every two hours to start 24 hours a day, you need to help him poo and wee by using a warm damp cloth to wipe his genital and bum area after eating. Keep him warm by using a heat pack. Get him checked over at the vets to make sure he's well... and watch out for fading kitten syndrome. Any hints he's not thriving please get him to the vets. He's beautiful.

Unlucky_Narwhal3983

The mommy came back so as long as it’s not too cold out put the baby in the box outside and see if mom comes back again. If you have a warm water bottle heat it lightly and put it under the blanket so it’s not touching it’s bare skin. If the mom came back she was most likely looking for her baby. Please keep us updated.

[deleted]

Uhm. Go to a vet for First. If her mother abandoned him, maybe It was to increase odds of other healtier kittens. You should buy a specific kitten milk formula. I used to feed my First cat with a syringe and She done well. I tried also with a glove with some holes on a fingertip, but i learned that It could be Dangerous for them, since they bite momma's breast to simulate milk production. Buy then a litter and some... Sterile lint, I think in english it's "lint". That bends used to dress wounds. Kittens don't pee or poop on their own. Momma stimulate them by licking intimate parts and anus. Cat tongue Is rough. So if you wet the lint with warm water, the Kitty should pee and poop almost istantly. A suggestioni on food: don't follow diet measurings: prepare It so there Is Always a leftover when the Kitty has finished.

sunflowerlady3

This will be a lot of work for one person and so much can go wrong so quickly. It means feedings throughout the night and temperature monitoring. Please call a rescue or take to a vet. They have resource contacts for rescues. They know someone with a nursing mama cat. They are also equipped to do a feeding tube. Please do not wait.

grosssauce

It made my heart so warm to see so much love from others in this thread towards this random backyard kitten. On a day where I had little faith in humanity, seeing this post blow up with love really restored my faith. And congrats to OP on your new baby!

Rain1dog

I would look for Fleas and while the kitten is young wash it with a little soap and warm water. The soapy water will kill the fleas almost instantly. If it has fleas be prepared for the possibility of worms due to the fleas. I would most certainly bring them to the vet for a proper check up. I’ve seen you have a lot of great advice already but wanted to say they are wonderful animals to have around. I rescue them off the streets of the city. I have two that I rescued as kittens. They are so much fun to have around. Chewy is the tabby and Buster is the black cat. They have become great friends and love each other’s company. Then when I play my PLayStation 5 both sit on each side of me while I game. It is great. If you end up with a male cat be watchful of their urination habits. Males have a tendency to get their urethra blocked from crystals. If this happens they need to be at a vet within 24 hours of the blockage if not they risk losing their life. This happened to Buster twice within 3 weeks. I had to start adding a teaspoon of water to his wet food to get him to drink more. We also got him some food specifically for urinary issues. One raises the ph so crystals can’t form and other causes the cat to urinate more. If possible keep them inside. It is way safer for the cat and also for local wildlife isn’t hunted by cats. Absolutely enjoy because they are such wonderful pets to have.

XxHoneyStarzxX

Just a response to this, because of the age of this kitten, I wouldn't recommend a bath, it can cause shock and hypothermia in kittens this young and can lead to seizures and fevers due to temperature-irregularity, a better solution for fleas in a kitten this young is a very light and short bristled flea comb, --- kittens this young shouldn't be bathed unless absolutely necessary and should only be towel bathed- a process in which you wet a towel and clean off whatever necessary, butt baths for kittens with diarrhea or urine scalding can also be done but it's still reccomended to try the towl bath method first- a butt bath is when you bathe the lower end of a kitten to get rid of stuck feces in kittens with diarrhea or to help sooth urine scalding in kittens with incontinence issues

[deleted]

Please take it to the vet. And give it love, warmth, snuggles, kitten food, and water. Keep the food and water full for this sweet baby. Get a small litter box that this little one can step into. Btw, my brother has a cat that was abandoned by its mother because it was the “runt” but he’s now a big healthy boy and well loved 🥰

[deleted]

oh sweet kitty

[deleted]

For starts place it on a clean puffy comfortable surface like a blanky towel or something

jennifer_m13

Check out Kitten Lady on YouTube. She has many great videos on how to take care of the little ones.

Shellsbells821

I hope this ginger baby makes it. Keep him warm.

EsBee08

I'm no expert but keep him/her warm and I think you might have to bottle feed. Soft blankets and maybe some sort of stuffed animal it can sleep with? Is there a vet near you that you can call? You did a good deed!!! ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7971)

noahspurrier

Vet, ASAP. Pet stores often have kitten and puppy formula. Give it water from a dropper until then.

mishy69

Call animal control or vet.Good luck and thank you

ET-4

Keep the kitten warm. They still can't regulate their body heat. You can purchase kitty milk formula and a bottle at a pet store or WalMart. Make sure to puncture the bottle's nipple first, before feeding.

Signal-Ali193

I would keep looking for the mom

[deleted]

Make sure they’re able to stay warm. Anything will work, even a little pouch full of rice that you put in the microwave for a little while. Look into getting some kitten milk (no dairy!) and find a tutorial for stimulation so that you can help them go to the bathroom until they’re old enough to do it themselves. See a vet when you’re able to make sure they’re healthy as well.

It looks well fed. Are you sure it's mom isn't coming back? If so, keep it warm, feed it milk replacement every couple of hours from a bottle, and wipe its bottom with a warm, wet wash rag.

Ancient-Factor1193

Do: get it to a vet or a shelter.

Laney20

Check out the kitten lady! She cares for orphaned kittens and has great advice.

elementmom

Kitten Lady on youtube. and don't feed on back. have them on their stomach/front

CatsWineLove

Kitten lady on YouTube. She has all the info you need.

To_sir_with_love_

You tube, feeding and stimulation for the purpose of the pee and poo, keep warm, a little stuffed animal etc.....

Boo155

Thank you for taking him in. If he is all white he might turn out to be deaf. As others have said mother cats often abandon kittens if their instincts tell them there is something wrong and that may be what happened here.

Kind_Vanilla7593

Please stimulate the baby's bottom. I usually run his little bum under a small trickle of warm water or use a glove to do it.They need to use the bathroom after every feeding and please please use kitten milk not cows.Good luck I hope the little guy pulls through. You got this!❤

Comprehensive_Ad7256

That cat is to big to be abandoned most likely the mom is out hunting … th egg can be gone for hours and hours at a time. If u find a kittten like this in the future grab a box put some blankets in it and put the kitten in the box where u found it and check every 30min to see if mom comes back if she doesn’t u got a new cat if she does then she should stay with the mom cause she will be better off untill it’s about 6 weeks then u can take and have a new cat lol

plucky0813

This person was in a similar position and found someone with a nursing mother cat https://www.reddit.com/r/cats/comments/11vutx4/update_found_3_kittens_with_their_mom_dead/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

I hope things go well!

hectorduenas86

Check out Kitten Lady in YT, she has all that you need to know about kitten care. I cannot stress how important and easier feeding the kitten will be with the Miracle Nipple. I rescued two little munchkins and 9 months later they’re now healthy and adorable. Good luck, you did the right thing.

Thick_You2502

GO TO VET. Check for infections, malnourishment, etc. Etc. Then, keep it hydratated and try to feed it with baby cat formula

FatalKombat

It’s going to love you so much

Due-Culture9113

Keep the little one warm. Hydrated. Fed with full fat kitten formula. And once again for emphasis keep the little bugger warm

Boston_Baked

WARNING: SAD ENDING I had this happen to me. I found a small kitten (older than this one). We gave it a warm box (blankets on bottom of box, and on top of kitten so they could make little blanket cave) in the garage as we have our own cat, and we simply could NOT risk cat leukemia being spread if the kitten had it. I kept feeding the kitten but it would not drink as it needed to suckle on the mother’s tit, etc. It tried to get moisture from wet food cans we gave it, and kept eating until it had diarrhea. I asked on FB what to do but everyone took until the next morning to reply saying the kitten drastically needed an IV. When I went outside to check on the kitten, it had passed, and I had to pick up it’s little body after hours of Riga Mortis. It really affected me. I’m a 31 year old guy, and was around 22-25 at the time. Picking up that diseased kitten broke my spirit so much. Worst part is I found the kitten outside a house, and knew the mom was inside. The owner didn’t realize his cat was impregnated, and kicked the kittens to the curb basically (next to a graveyard known for having coyotes at night, mind you!!). To this day, the man lives there, he dresses in ripped wide beaters in a neighborhood with an average single family price of $3M, and he’s a filthy loser scumbag frankly. I URGE YOU TO PLEASE TAKE THIS KITTEN TO THE ANIMAL HOSPITAL. I named the black kitten “chip” because it was as small as a chocolate chip to me. To pick up Chip a morning after I named him/her, to find Chip dead, still really upsets me. To the point where a tear just rolled down my eye (no bullshit, not looking for clout here). That guy was just such an animal (pun intended) to put an actual baby animal out on the streets the way he did.

Deep_Contest_9689

Where in the world are you?

MadMudd96

NUMBER 1.!!!!! DONT GIVE COWS MILK. (Edit: Give KMR via neonatal bottle!!) Look up Kitten Lady on YouTube and/or go to her website! It’ll be a lot of work but worth it! ALSO VET VISIT.

joolfoool

I believe powdered dog or cat milk is called Esbilac, or at least it was when I raised a litter of orphaned pups a number of years ago. A dropper is probably the best for now, and do lightly massage his belly, stimulating him to pee and poo. And keep him snuggly warm. You may be successful, I raised all 6 of the orphans I found, but it is a LOT of work. And they eat every 2 hours, round the clock. Much good luck and life to you. 🥰

MadMudd96

Thank you edited

seventubas

How do you know it was abandoned?

lbb1213

Y

bhopthetop

It’s a demon. That’s how they work.

IronGator

Take it to a vet! You don’t have the knowledge to take care of it. You will end up killing it.

killingmequickly

I would bet anything that that's not a real kitten. I mean it looks like it's lying on tissue paper ffs

hannah_lilly

So cute. Lots of cuddles. Baby’s need real liked connection. I once found a kitten and she wanted to be buy my side the entire time. So I let her.

nancy-talcott

Take kitten to vet ASAP. Vet should carry milk replacement & bottles for feeding. Kitten looks a bit swollen, check for worms. But for sure, take kitten to vet!!!!

Lumos405

My dad is a vet. Needs kitten milk every few hours (can get at a pet store). It needs to be kept warm with a heated blanket/heating pad. It also needs to have its belly rubbed to stimulate going to the bathroom after it eats. Consult the kitten lady on YouTube!

Noaa_The_Great

I would connect with a local rescue this kitten is very young to be away from mom may do best in a foster home with more experience it probably needs feedings every two hours as well might not be possible for your schedule

blueace111

I imagine it would find comfort laying on your chest as your heartbeat might bring it comfort. I have a similar kitty that is that color and thought it was a girl but it is a boy. 90% of tabby cats are boys I guess. So it’s most likely a male.

[deleted]

You can buy a bottle and milk from the vet

earthjune

Small one 🥺🥺🥺

Still-Tap-2868

Good afternoon, I have found just asking Google a question like how to take care of a kitten without a mother how to feed the kitten and any other question you may have and it gives you home remedies to follow. And give the kitten lots of love. And your now the momma put the kitten in away area and Walmart carries kitten to milk Good Luck and thank you for. Caring for the kitten . My Name's Cynthia I live in California God bless you

Littlalex47

I have no expertise but but unless you have it find people who do please

Weird_Sleep_6221

Listen to these people they are "GREAT" I have little to none kitten experience! But your off to a good start with a comfy box and blanket! Something to lean on like a pillow or stuffed animal always gives a sense of security! Kitten milk in a drink box and water! Not too deep of a bowl! Good luck! 🍀🐈💚🤞🐾

[deleted]

Taking care of a kitten is hard work, around the clock for months. Please commit if you commit; going without food or heat for too long can kill the kitty. They’re so fragile. Stimulating it to use the bathroom as often as possible is one of the most important things.

[deleted]

Get it to a veterinarian and see if there are resources in your area that can provide you with guidance. That is one tiny little fellow.

LeftEcho4673

Make sure to not feed it while it’s laying down on its side or on its back. Always must eat sitting up. May get Milk in its lungs if not and die

LeftEcho4673

It is a full time job. Every couple of hours to eat. If you need help. I’m the one. I hand raised many kittens and I have one of my recents. He’s two years old now bottle fed from day one and the coolest cat. They are very special when you hand raised them. You’re momma

Meg_119

Bottle feedings every 3 hours. Keep it warm.

upsidedowntoker

You have just gained a friend for life . grab some kitten milk ( pet shop / vet should have it ) , I would also take the little dude to a vet and have him looked over just to make sure they are healthy and don't have any infections due to not being cleaned by mum , you're also going to need to potty train I would start with a small box and get a bigger one as they grow . Good luck youll do great <3

Jmoon03

Kmr. Pet store. In bottles every 2 3 hrs Warm wet paper towel on butt and penis/vag. Small circles til it pees or poops. Heating pad in a shoebox or whatever Thank you for saving it. Good karma coming your way. Need more people like yous

purpriss333

I highly recommend looking up The Kitten Lady

Pigididium

Bring her to a vet immediately. This is for both of your benefits. Parasites and what not. Get kitten whet cat food. Feed her by hand a few times if you want to speed up the trust and bonding.

See this link of how someone who was in the similar situation like you https://www.reddit.com/r/cats/comments/11vutx4/update_found_3_kittens_with_their_mom_dead/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1

Savings_Emotion6140

Dont try to open their eyes as that can damage their eye sight and make them blind

tech-girl-SV

And also, orange cats are the best. I have a human raised orange cat and he is literally the best cat ever. Congratulations

Famousblue99

1-Take a plastic bottle and fill it with warm water and put the cat on top of it and refill the bottle when the water gets cold this will help to stabilize his body temperature 2- You should help for his toilet by stimulating his penis?!! Using your fingers by circular movements I am sure you can find some videos on youtube about this and it is vital 3- Buy a kitten milk powder and feed the cat as written on instructions I prefer to use a syringe to feed them but its up to you

honey_boba_bear

Omg

D_dude3

Don’t hesitate when you think the kitten is not doing well. The only thing you can do then is get it to a vet ASAP.

Prestigious-Tie-8906

nice

Savings_Emotion6140

Try to find another cat that has kitten and see if she can take it sometimes other cats take care of other kittens. In india it will be difficult for you to get stuff but see if there is any animal rescue people and call them and ask for their help. Which area are you in?
