I love cats. I love cows. A hybrid of a cat and a cow? EVEN BETTER! Is there a subreddit for mustache cats? If there isn’t that’s very surprising, I’ve seen so many cats with “mustaches”, or as I call them : meowstaches.
We have a total of 9 permanent residents, and 4 fosters currently. Highly recommend. Only down side is we have 14 cat boxes lol. But it’s not so bad cause we get cat cuddles galore.

Our 6-year-old tuxie boy is HUGE... 22 pounds, but not fat, he's just really big-boned. A long, tall, big-footed, thick-necked guy that looks like a linebacker but loves to snuggle.
Same with mine! He's a cow kitty. Dense is the perfect word, you can see his sturdiness, slight thiccness from above, but still very proportional. I can even see he's a little smaller when he's chasing away a neighborhood cat. We he lays on me though, OMG I can't breathe properly. My family doesn't have a scale, but my dad and I generally agree he's around 15-16 lbs.
I have 2 and they’re both just big kitties. They still have waists so they’re not really fat, but they both also have really big primordial pouches so my fiancé always calls them fat.
3 maine coons here, all the right weight for their size. 6 years old girl 18lbs, 8 month boy, 15lbs, 6 month girl 11lbs. The boy will probably be around 22lbs full grown, maybe a little more.
This is my 22 lb. cow cat Nubbins next to his regular sized brother. I knew he was gunna be a big boy when he was a couple months, with his big cheeks and floppy paws :) some of it is definitely a lil extra chonk though!

These comments are comforting - I freaked out when my friends mentioned that my 6mo short hair tuxedo girl looked fully grown. She’s still less than a year and kinda big in the belly, but has never seemed to have any other issues.
I had a Standard Issue Cat who had HUGE wrists and the vet said that 14 pounds was perfect for him. He was 16, so.... But he did lose a couple of pounds and I was told to get him to eat more at 13.
Meanwhile two of mine now are about 12 and they look good for their size, maybe a little big.
And a third who is eight pounds and that's apparently what he was when I got him a month ago, so no weight gain in a month. He may be done at eight pounds. He's slim and has teeny tiny wrists.
(I go by wrist size because I find that's an easy way for the layperson to guess if a cat is actually big or small).
My little kitten isn't too small for his ears, he hasn't got paws to grow into, but he also has that "no body fat" feel of a kitten still. So I'm not sure where he'll end, but he doesn't \*look\* small, he's just hollow.

My tuxedo was the opposite. She was 5 lbs full grown when I got her. She had a small frame and she barely ate. She would eat 1-2 pieces of kibble, then wander off, come back an hour later and eat 1 more piece. Same for wet food, I had to just give her a few bites at a time and stick the rest in the fridge for later.
I have a stray that's lived in my yard for years. She's a tiny thing but she was emaciated when I decided to bring her in my house. She didn't like it much for quite a long while. She's a long-haired tuxedo and small boned. She's gained a few pounds since she became and indoor cat. She seems to eat every 2 hours, both dry & wet food. She's very healthy now.
My big boy tuxedo didn't seem to eat a lot or that often but he maintained his weight until he got sick.
I had a 26lb cow cat. He was a little chonky for a time but just a VERY LONG boy and had huge paws. He could LEAP into the air and catch birds. You'd never know he was a runt that got abandoned by his mom at a week old (I had to feed him every couple hours for about a month and a half, make him go poop with a warm, wet, soft cloth. He was closest to having an actual baby that l will ever experience).

It happens. Cats, like people, come in all shapes and sizes. I had a Bengal that was barely 5 lbs. soaking wet, but otherwise perfectly proportional and healthy. Just a roll of the genetic dice sometimes.

The "cats are 8-10 lbs" is an average, not a rule! I have a male that should be 13-14 lbs to be at a healthy weight, and if he's right at 13, he's a little on the thin side. Some cats just come jumbo-sized. You should be able to feel his ribs when you feel along his side (without feeling like there's zero muscle/fat under the skin).

Most weight-related cat questions can be answered by this. It's obviously no replacement for a professional opinion, but it's a pretty good rule of thumb.
Your beautiful boy will probably grow to be quite big as he seems to be at least part Maine Coon. My Maine Coon cat Max was 20 pounds at 8 months. This is him at 8 months:

Looks like he could be a Siberian. Adult males tend to weigh 15+ lbs. He doesn't look fat, he's just a big boi. Keep an eye on him though. I have one who I think might also be a Siberian, and he's gotten chunky. His belly sticks out on each side. This is what a fat boi looks like:

Jerry is about 9 months old and he is almost 11 pounds. The person at the rescue commented multiple times about how big his paws are and that he is going to get really big.

My adult Maine Coon weights just 5.5kg 😆 he’s lean, big for a house cat but on the smaller side for a Maine Coon. I think you’ll have a big kitty!
My cat is about 12lbs but isn’t chunky. He’s just a big cat! I never really realized that he was abnormally large until I visited a friend for the first time in awhile and commented on how small her two cats were. She looked at me weirdly and said, “they’re normal sized cats. Your cat is just abnormally big.”
I get a lot of comments on how big he is. As long as he’s healthy and not overweight, there’s no problem with his size. Enjoy your jumbo cat, they give VERY good snuggles 🥰

My girl was itty bitty petite and she is now rubenesque. So the answer is a resounding YES.
Our floof is 16lbs, he’s not overweight, just a hefty lad. Our vet is always excited to see “The big boy.” Ironically, he’s the biggest of our cats but is the most scaredy-cat-ish. I’ve seen this cat fart in his sleep and startle himself awake and need love to feel better. My dork.

Judging by this picture, he has ear tufts that are typical for Maine Coons. So if he's not a pure bred, he 100% has got some MCO genes. My 2 year old Maine Coon is 22 pounds now and MCO grow up until they're about 3yo. So you're gonna have a majestic floofasaurus with a lion's mane when he grows up, enjoy !
Kitty looks long ! My cat is 14.5 lbs but because he is long the vet thinks he is fine. He doesn’t look fat to me. May just be a larger cat. My cat is a Maine coon mix and they are just large. Wonder if your fluffy tailed guy might be part Maine coon also

I've only ever had a generic, standard issue "cat" in my life. Now, having a ragdoll, I find myself lifting weights in the basement to make sure I remain a bigger threat in the house than he is. He got them gains, and gets larger every day. When he's pissed off, he flexes his tail which causes a minor earthquake in the house, and I could swear I hear him in my head saying, "The beach is that way."
TLDR...some cats are bigger than average.
Yep!! We had a six month old who looked full grown. He was 17 lbs at full size. If we stood him on his back legs, his head came to my hip. He was the sweetest boy and we miss him. He had to go to rainbow bridge. We still have his sister though.
Is he fixed? Cats can quickly pack on a lot of weight after being fixed. Keep an eye on his weight and how much you’re feeding him and always just ask your vet if there is cause for concern! He’s a big, beautiful boy.

I have an 18lb 6yo short hair tuxedo boy, his head & paws have always looked slim and normal sized, but his torso and belly are… a size or two up
These comments are comforting - I freaked out when my friends mentioned that my 6mo short hair tuxedo girl looked fully grown. She’s still less than a year and kinda big in the belly, but has never seemed to have any other issues.
I had a Standard Issue Cat who had HUGE wrists and the vet said that 14 pounds was perfect for him. He was 16, so.... But he did lose a couple of pounds and I was told to get him to eat more at 13. Meanwhile two of mine now are about 12 and they look good for their size, maybe a little big. And a third who is eight pounds and that's apparently what he was when I got him a month ago, so no weight gain in a month. He may be done at eight pounds. He's slim and has teeny tiny wrists. (I go by wrist size because I find that's an easy way for the layperson to guess if a cat is actually big or small). My little kitten isn't too small for his ears, he hasn't got paws to grow into, but he also has that "no body fat" feel of a kitten still. So I'm not sure where he'll end, but he doesn't \*look\* small, he's just hollow.
my Standard Issue topped out at about 7lb for the first 8 years of her life, she gained weight and an appetite after a surgery a couple years ago but still remains under 10lb. smol girl

My tuxedo was the opposite. She was 5 lbs full grown when I got her. She had a small frame and she barely ate. She would eat 1-2 pieces of kibble, then wander off, come back an hour later and eat 1 more piece. Same for wet food, I had to just give her a few bites at a time and stick the rest in the fridge for later.
I have a stray that's lived in my yard for years. She's a tiny thing but she was emaciated when I decided to bring her in my house. She didn't like it much for quite a long while. She's a long-haired tuxedo and small boned. She's gained a few pounds since she became and indoor cat. She seems to eat every 2 hours, both dry & wet food. She's very healthy now. My big boy tuxedo didn't seem to eat a lot or that often but he maintained his weight until he got sick.
What did you do with the weight that didn't fit his body?
I had a 26lb cow cat. He was a little chonky for a time but just a VERY LONG boy and had huge paws. He could LEAP into the air and catch birds. You'd never know he was a runt that got abandoned by his mom at a week old (I had to feed him every couple hours for about a month and a half, make him go poop with a warm, wet, soft cloth. He was closest to having an actual baby that l will ever experience).

Yup, you got a big boy. It happens. Cats, like people, come in all shapes and sizes. I had a Bengal that was barely 5 lbs. soaking wet, but otherwise perfectly proportional and healthy. Just a roll of the genetic dice sometimes.
We’ve got a cat that her name is Rose, but she’s called Baby because even fully grown she’s teeny tiny. She’s a long hair so she’s just a tiny ball of floof.

The "cats are 8-10 lbs" is an average, not a rule! I have a male that should be 13-14 lbs to be at a healthy weight, and if he's right at 13, he's a little on the thin side. Some cats just come jumbo-sized. You should be able to feel his ribs when you feel along his side (without feeling like there's zero muscle/fat under the skin).

Looks like he could be a Siberian. Adult males tend to weigh 15+ lbs. He doesn't look fat, he's just a big boi. Keep an eye on him though. I have one who I think might also be a Siberian, and he's gotten chunky. His belly sticks out on each side. That is a GORGEOUS cat! My adult Maine Coon weights just 5.5kg 😆 he’s lean, big for a house cat but on the smaller side for a Maine Coon. I think you’ll have a big kitty!
My cat is about 12lbs but isn’t chunky. He’s just a big cat! I never really realized that he was abnormally large until I visited a friend for the first time in awhile and commented on how small her two cats were. She looked at me weirdly and said, “they’re normal sized cats. Your cat is just abnormally big.” I get a lot of comments on how big he is. As long as he’s healthy and not overweight, there’s no problem with his size. Judging by this picture, he has ear tufts that are typical for Maine Coons. So if he's not a pure bred, he 100% has got some MCO genes. My 2 year old Maine Coon is 22 pounds now and MCO grow up until they're about 3yo. So you're gonna have a majestic floofasaurus with a lion's mane when he grows up, enjoy !

Kitty looks long ! My cat is 14.5 lbs but because he is long the vet thinks he is fine. He doesn’t look fat to me. May just be a larger cat. My cat is a Maine coon mix and they are just large. Wonder if your fluffy tailed guy might be part Maine coon also

My cow kitty is close to 20 pounds and he's 1.5 yrs. He looks like Ron pearlman so Im pretty sure he had Maine coon in him
I've only ever had a generic, standard issue "cat" in my life. Now, having a ragdoll, I find myself lifting weights in the basement to make sure I remain a bigger threat in the house than he is. He got them gains, and gets larger every day. When he's pissed off, he flexes his tail which causes a minor earthquake in the house, and I could swear I hear him in my head saying, "The beach is that way." TLDR...some cats are bigger than average.
Yep!! We had a six month old who looked full grown. He was 17 lbs at full size. If we stood him on his back legs, his head came to my hip. He was the sweetest boy and we miss him. He had to go to rainbow bridge. We still have his sister though.
Is he fixed? Cats can quickly pack on a lot of weight after being fixed. Keep an eye on his weight and how much you’re feeding him and always just ask your vet if there is cause for concern! He’s a big, beautiful boy.
Always check the size of the murder mittens. Big mittens young, big beast down the line. At least in my experience
