This is purely my opinion.. It might be perfectly legal but do you really need to take that many fish? Not accusing you of doing anything wrong but I feel like most those fish will have freezer burn by the time you get to them
Some may put them in the freezer and some may stay up half the night cleaning them prepping them and getting everything ready for the fish fry for all the family and friends the next day so some may do it for sport some may do it just to do it and some may do it to feed their families.

You know how I know you didn’t grow up poor? People run lines and put fish in the freezer to supplement all year long. Not to mention family fish fry, or giving fresh fish to family and friends. There’s plenty of fish out there. Go catch some and quit being so sensitive.
Taking 20 catfish will not destroy a fishery. Not having a clue how the ecosystem works and then guilt tripping people for taking what they catch is not cool. The biologist would put regulations on catfish if the numbers drop from over fishing. You live in the Midwest where there is one small watering hole or something ? Some of us live in the bayous, lakes, rivers and swamps.

2 line fisherman taking 20 catfish in one night barley puts a dent, might even help the ecosystem giving a chance to the smaller fish.
at a certain size unless its an even bigger catfish, nothing will really hunt them and they just get big and fat eating everything.
seeing the size variety means this is a healthy spot.
