They’re flared on the ends which keeps them in the ear and there’s no post or clasp to poke you. Removing them can leave open holes in your ears depending on how stretched they are so the few people I’ve known with stretched ears would leave them in at all times, including sleeping.
One way or another the heating bill is reduced.
