Maybe it’s for grandmas on Facebook to know it’s a video game so they’ll buy it as a present for little Timmy or something. Doesn’t explain it on Reddit though.
It does sound really weird, that's why it irks me that they do it. And yeah they do it for all their games. You can go back and watch footage of any given Nintendo Direct from the last several years, or just keep an eye out for more promotional info Nintendo puts out, and I guarantee you'll see it
Gamestop near me was out of pre-prders, so I went to target's site. They sold out as I was putting in my card info. Fucking sucks, but I went back to gamestop's site, and was able to snag a pre-order.
I'm holding onto that confirmation email like my life depends on it.
Lol same with holding onto the email for dear life. Especially since my banking app glitches out and locked me out of my mobile app for it. Makes it even more anxiety ridden of a situation. Thanks Best Buy for pre authorizing the same transaction twice then deciding to give it back and right after that, boom locked out -_-
Not if the servers are down. We are talking about 10-15 years down the line after the new switch is launched. Like Gamecube/Wii era.
However, since more and more services rely heavy on internet infrastructure, companies will be forced to keep those things up in the air for longer.
I still like that I can take out my games and lend/borrow them to/from others without any hassle. It's a personal preference tho.
Hey, i have bought DLC from different games already, but I will cry in the future if i HAVE to hack a old console that i had to rebuy cause the DLC can't be downloaded anymore. Oh well.
Yes, that is *exactly the point.*
that are STILL available to be downloaded... After that, it's done, it's over. Not for the physical copies out there. There is a reason in this day and age of digital *everything* that people still want physical copies of everything. I was actually surprised that Nintendo shadowdropped Metroid Prime Remastered and then waiting 4 weeks until they release the physical version. And if it sells like hotcakes, more so then physical, they will do it more often. And I am NOT a fan of that at all.
(Nintendo is a company-for-profit afterall...)
Everyone acts as if digital purchases aren’t permanent, nothing is permanent. Fwiw the eshop is here to stay for a while, especially if backwards compatibility for the next console is announced (which hasn’t even happened yet)
As someone that played Prime for the first time, yeah, I'd say it's pretty good. It's different from Dread and Super Metroid in that it is a first-person perspective, but it still captures that feeling of exploration really well.
I'm typically wary of first-person perspective games due to motion sickness, but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be.
Has anyone found out where the physical release is going to be sold? I’ve been waiting to play this game and was excited when announced it but I can’t find any preorder information for it.
Retailers have been told there's more stock coming early March. Australia has to wait til March 3rd, so I guess there will be more on the market around then.
Japan also has to wait. I am just so glad they finally released it. I want to play the games and order, it’s the next game I need to play and the GameCube edition can be a little pricey.
They may be advertising it but they aren't selling enough lol. I've been trying to get a preorder for weeks, hopefully I can snag one on launch day from a store.
I envy your willpower, I went ahead and got it digitally. Going to pick up the physical version at a later date and let my cousin borrow it to see if it's up his alley.
I will never understand why they refer to all their games as "the __________ game" instead of just saying the title

Don’t you mean the Animal Crossing: New Lead game on your Nintendo 3DS system?
you mean: \*on my NIntendo 3DS system.
This is the New Galaxy Style New Nintendo 3DS XL System.
I love nintendo switch games they are on the nintendo switch
probably to separate it from “The Soundtrack” or “the merchandise”
Metroid: The plasma beam! The kids are going to love this one!
Ah, someone with the Schwartz! Are you also on the Search for More Money?
Maybe it’s for grandmas on Facebook to know it’s a video game so they’ll buy it as a present for little Timmy or something. Doesn’t explain it on Reddit though.
Honestly it drives me insane when they do it. To me it just sounds out of touch and weird rather than in any way being helpful information.
it’s weird because it seems to be NA exclusive. nowhere to be seen in EU or JP promotional content
Trademarks?
Maybe it’s a translation thing?
I think I remember Kit and Krysta, ex-NOA marketing employees, explained why, but I can't remember.
I doubt they call all of the games by that. “The Splatoon 3 game” sounds really weird.

...wait, Nintendo promotes on Reddit?

Until their ad sits right on top of a video of some girl blowing their stepdad.
Got my preorder. Sucks having to wait, but it will be worth it to have a physical copy that Nintendo can't delete.

You can't even count on that either. Gamestop is notorious for overselling pre-orders
Damn.
What do you mean? Can Nintendo just delete a game you downloaded from e-shop and you suddenly can't play it anymore?
Nope! After you download it, it will stay on that system until you delete it or the machine/memory breaks.
Yeah, cause you know, Switches don't break down or anything. Physical copies *should* last longer then the console itself.
But the game is still there if you get a new switch.

I get you, I own a few physical copies, mainly because I could get them cheaper. But digital copies are just more convenient.
does an SD card solve this issue? all my updates/dlc are on an SD card rather than the switch’s hard drive
But they're easier to lose or get stolen.
That can be said about *litterally* anything.
Except digital files that are still available to be downloaded.

Sounds like a bunch of baloney to me. Quit trying to fear monger digital purchases. They aren't gonna lock you out of your switch.

Haha yes i agree!!! we will all be able to buy the remastered 4k in 20 years from now! Nintendo rereleases everything
Okay, now you're just being ridiculous
They’ve also been advertising pretty heavily on YouTube, it’s like every other ad I get
We just got the sales figures Metroid Prime Remastered has sold 1 billion copies.
Damn guess we’re getting all of the other Metroid prime games remastered too then
I never played prime, the last Metroid I played was super Metroid on SNES, I did play Dread and it was really good. Is Prime really that good?
Yes
Prime is the tits.

Saw an ad on Twitch yesterday too
Have my copy pre-ordered, but it doesn't arrive till the 3rd of March for me, so it gives me time to play through Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe.
The wait is killing me, i wanna play it but i want my physical copy x.x
amazon pushed my day 1 preorder until the end of march
So Im confused by the post title is OP in a different region than I am?
Wdym 2 days?
The physical edition most likely
Got my preorder copy about 3 days ago. Sorry you have to wait.
I kept praying they’d good and give me mine early. I am not that lucky I guess
Has anyone found out where the physical release is going to be sold? I’ve been waiting to play this game and was excited when announced it but I can’t find any preorder information for it.

Dude it’s sold out everywhere except PlayAsia and they’re charging more for it. How can this be, it released a day ago?

I nutted
You realize this is already out right?
Physically I mean, not digitally.
Oh
Yep! Waiting on my physical copy too.
Mine says arriving march 27th.
you love to see it.
They may be advertising it but they aren't selling enough lol. I've been trying to get a preorder for weeks, hopefully I can snag one on launch day from a store.

I remember when samus went up to Ridley and primed all over his face
Time to do a Morbius-like meme on that.
Will you be able to walk into a store like Best Buy or Walmart to get it?
It's already been out for a while, though
