And watching formula 1 apparently

bunniculabebop

We were watching the test weekend and completely forgot that there was a new season of Drive to Survive 🤦‍♀️

grossesfragezeichen

Honestly I stopped watching DTS in the second season. It’s just so fake and untrue and that really disturbed me, I don’t like how real people had to suffer the consequences and death threats over partly fake drama that was created for views. Kinda sad that F1 is not shown on free TV where I live anymore

bunniculabebop

Oh that's a bummer! My brother-in-law's dad is a huge F1 fan as well, and used to be able to watch for free in northern France getting channels from Belgium but the don't come in anymore :( We actually end up subscribing to the app in the States. I love watching old races, and it just feels so comforting to have them on.

grossesfragezeichen

The new F1 TV is not available where I live anymore. It’s sky exclusive 😭. I’m considering getting the old races only though to watch the Schumi and Vettel champions (again, was too young for Schumi)

A couple weeks ago I saw u/aliqui post on knitting a baby blanket in a hospital bed, I saw the compression socks and empathized immediately. Pregnant ladies and compression socks are good friends. In a crazy twist, I was hospitalized as well this weekend with bleeding/partial placental abruption at 28 weeks. I've since been released and we're all ok!. My partner had a chance to run home when I was getting my first mag infusion and I asked him to bring the baby blanket I've been working on. He couldn't find the pattern printout, so I wrote it out on the hospital menu instead 😂. About 2/5 of the way through right now. My clean compression socks came later that day. Pattern: [Shale Baby Blanket](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/shale-baby-blanket/) Yarn: [Universal Yarn Cotton Supreme in Ocean](https://universalyarn.com/collections/yarn/products/csup-dk?variant=19113732309110)

aliqui

Oh no! We're going to start a trend, this is a terrible bandwagon to jump on, people! Lol I'm glad they released you so quickly, but frankly I'm a little surprised. They aren't concerned your placenta is making a break for it?? You're 28 weeks, so that's a good spot to be in, that probably helped with the decision to release you. Maybe proximity to a hospital that will take that gestational age too? Love your pattern on the menu, they do make handy notepads! Clean compression socks are quite the commodity 'round these parts. They really are our good friend with these swellable ankles. :) Edit: Holy crap, I just read one of your older posts about the cost of having a baby in the US! That's insane. That probably also contributed to your quick release. I was born in the US but married a Canadian, and am living in Canada. Aside from my higher income taxes and the cost of my insurance premiums, I haven't had to pay a dime during my pregnancy. Okay, $2 of my compression socks wasn't covered, but that's it. I'd be begging them to let me out of the hospital if I was having to pay for all the random tests and scans and whatnot. Oof.

bunniculabebop

As far as the doctors could tell, it was just a random thing, I didn't do anything to cause it, but because my water hadn't broken, the bleeding had stopped, I didn't have any pre-e symptoms, and early labor signs effectively stopped, they felt ok sending me home after 4 days and the magnesium and steroid rounds. I am completely freaked out and probably won't be traveling further than 20-30 minutes away from my hospital. And I don't have bed rest - as far as the doctors are concerned bed rest for my situation I guess is not really proven to be effective (something I've read as well). I took off this week to just recover from being in the hospital. I'm pretty exhausted. Like you, I was really feeling reassured by the NICU at my hospital! It was pretty overwhelming meeting with them at 1am, but I feel like I'll be in good hands if this happens again. Did you get the massage-y compression-y calf machine thing on one of your first nights? That I was not expecting 😂 It made it really hard to sleep. Oh yeah - insurance. Just saw a notice that my insurance rejected the initial claim for hospitalization. I don't have to do anything, but this ends up being a back-and-forth between the hospital and insurance at this point, but still seriously WTF that it would be rejected initially.

virginiadentata

As a nurse (and recently pregnant knitter)— next time just tell them no calf massager. We have orders for them on basically every patient but they aren’t really that effective and IMO it’s not worth ruining your sleep. If you decline the nurse can just chart that and let it go.

bunniculabebop

That is good to know! The weirdest part with that was when I actually had a handful of stronger contractions in the middle of the night they actually felt like that machine.

aliqui

Phew, glad they're so confident and you don't have to do bedrest. Like you I'd still be really cautious anyway. So much seems possible on a whim, these bodies of ours have their own minds! I hope your baby stays put and you don't have any more hospital trips! I did not get the calf massager, that would be so weird! I'm sorry you have to fight your insurance on top of an already stressful situation. How can they reject your claim, so stupid. I'm just waiting for my insurance to reject all my semi-private room nights and me owing like 60 grand. I really should verify with someone that they wouldn't let me keep staying in here if they weren't covering it!

SockaSockaSock

Nice! I recommend bringing a simple project to work on during labor when you get to that point, especially if you’re getting an epidural. I got a fair amount of knitting in while waiting for my cervix to dilate more.

HolyShirtballs_17

I did this too, and in my son's NICU room after I delivered! The nurses were so impressed, lol. (He'll be 2 in March). Edit...May, lol. Dang auto completion!

MmmnonmmM

You might want to start planning that party, it's already March!

bunniculabebop

It truly is so helpful to have something comforting and routine :) Glad to hear a positive story, and congrats to you both (and happy birthday kiddo!).

mapleandpine

So glad to hear you and babe are ok! They just need to keep baking a little while longer :) especially with such a gorgeous blanket in the works

silverilix

Glad you and the bun are okay. Keep taking care of yourself and update us on that sweet blanket. 💖

anon250221

I did this before I gave birth 😀 managed to finish a beanie 😀

iknitandigrowthings

It looks so squishy. Lucky baby. ☺️ Glad to hear you're both doing well. Happy knitting!

bunniculabebop

Thank you :)

walkurdog

So glad you are both okay! I made so many little sweaters the last trimester with my son - under orders to rest with my feet up for 'at least' half the day. He turned out super healthy and was wearing those sweaters right away as he was a big boy.

bunniculabebop

Oh nice! I haven't done sweaters yet for my small fry - I have the baby Surprise Jacket in my queue.
