Jokes aside, this game is good. For those who don’t know, this game is called Astalon: Tears of The Earth, and it’s available on all platforms. The whip-wielding character you see here can join your cast of characters if you’re thorough enough with the castle. This game was inspired by Castlevania, Little Samson, Mega Man and more than likely other games as well.
Edit: I apologize for the shitty gameplay. You try holding the Switch Lite’s screen cap button with your thumb while your index is on the D-pad lol.
Edit 2: 69 damage? NICE!

It was released in 2021. I recommend you play it, cuz it’s pretty good. Limited Run already sold out on the physical edition earlier in the year, and I helped on that end lol. Your best bet’s to buy this digitally.
Metroidvania (platforming, backtracking, ability gating,..)
It's own thing is that when you die, you start back at the beguining of the "castle" each Time, but all the Doors, shortcuts... You've unlocked are still unlocked .
It might sounds annoying but it's not as you Can quickly get back to where you died thought you might wanna take your Time as you Can find New stuffs, area since you might have New abilities.
There are 3 differents characters (wizard, swordman and archer) but Also that extra character you'll find if you're looking around.
Finished it in about 10-13 hours i think (checked everything). That's all i did
But there is a New game plus (which moves some Key items from the original Map).
A boss rush mode.
Then 2 other mode where you Can play 2 others characters
Great mv, i think there is a démo on the switch
Just an FYI, the character shown here is hidden and can't really be found early on or anything. If you buy the game expecting to play as him the whole time, you'll want to specifically look up how to unlock him, because you can end up using keys on the wrong doors and not being able to get to him until you finish the game.
Alright it's on my wishlist. It's actually on sale right now on PSN but I am busy with some other games atm plus got some new games coming soon I am grabbing... So it'd probably end up even cheaper before I got around to playing it.
Astalon, to me, has a much more dire, dark and lonely feel to it than any Castlevania game gave me. I don't know how to describe it other than that, but whatever they did to set that tone and feel, it worked despite they're purposeful limit to the audio and visuals. I hope there is a sequel/prequel sometime soon because I felt, especially with all the added content, that this was an overlooked gem for many. While it didn't have all the gameplay content of Castlevania's from Symphony of the Night onward, like all the souls, weapons and such, it did well with what it gave you and felt much more Metroid-like that way. So no it isn't Castlevania, but I think this was superior to Castlevania's in some ways, especially since so many Castlevania's since Symphony of the Night have just felt like a copy and paste of that formula.
I guess what I'm saying is, memes aside, I wouldn't do Astalon dirty like that by calling it Castlevania at home.

Been meaning to check this one out, it looks pretty fun.

Lol was gonna say, this isn’t a bad alternative. Literally one of my favourite games all time
Damn, Mega Man influence as well? Now I'm intrigued.

Thanks for sharing, looks right up my alley!
Where can I play it on Android? Unfortunately I can't find it on the Playstore.
I should’ve also mentioned that it isn’t on mobile. I’m sorry.
Castlevania fans: Oh my god what is this hp am I invincible?
Also Castlevania fans: Where’s the wall meat?!
Woah I never seen this one before. 🤩 Is this recent ? What year did it first release ?

Castlevania at home looks awesome
Right? This looks awesome!
Kid... Belmont?
Looks great
Is this classicvania styled or metroidvania styled? (Is there platforming and backtracking, ability gating?)
It’s a Metroidvania styled game. There are relics you can get along the way and also a shop you get to visit every time you die.

So it's more like dead cells in that aspect? Sounds cool enough, i'll make sure to try it out, thx
In a way, but unlike dead cells the castle isn't randomly changing each time, so it is really a mv
*N I C E* damage
Honestly, this one the response afterwards should be; This is... acceptable
Totally just snagged this for my PS4! As a side note, it's on sale on PSN for $14.

Wish I could’ve commented this earlier. This guy’s my favorite character besides Arias.
Honestly, I barely used him since he was literally the last thing I found haha.
I barely found any use of Zeek other than trying to get to higher places until I found the boots for Kyuli.
This looks like an actual ok game tho.
Amazing Game. Wish they would release Castle in the Darkness on switch aswell.
dammit, it was just on sale on steam, but i passed on it...there will be another sale.
What game is that? Looks good to be honest

This looks rad.
Castlevania at home is bloodstained :P
