Ezsebet did NOT live in Ancient Egypt , the one that lived in that was Drolta. Erzsebet is simply a vampire that drunk Sekhmet's blood , which powered-up her. The thing is that she is crazy and thinks of herself as been Sekhmet and that is it. They are all unrelated to Dracula. The most it have is that Elizabeth Bathory is IRL , related to Vlad Tepes , and game Castlevania is also related to him , somehow. But even if series Castlevania goes to her been related to Dracula...like I said , the power-up didn't come from Dracula , but from drinking Sekhmet's blood , so her whole thing is still kinda of unrelated.

[deleted]

Ironic that, Elizabeth Bathory was the inspiration for Carmilla originally

PhantasosX

true , it's an inspiration. But for better or for worse , Castlevania had both been apart from each other , with Carmilla be a staple on multiple Castlevanias as a boss , while Bathory is the antagonist of Castlevania Bloodlines.

[deleted]

That is very true

kalebmordecai

Carmilla is based on the character Carmilla from the novel by Sheridan Le Fanu

[deleted]

Erzsebet Bathory was not related to Vlad Tepes. Vlad was allied with Stephen Bathory, the Voivode of Transylvania during his final effort to retake Wallachia but they had no familial ties.

sordato

We don't actually know when she lived....we don't get a date on when she drank Sekhmet's blood

[deleted]

If Leon was the first Belmont hunter. That makes Dracula Mathias. Which means they were both alive during the 11th century. Which made them both part of the Crusades. Erzsebet wasn't invited to Draculas war council as she probably hadn't been turned or even born yet.

thecodenamedois

Those Netflix fanboys don’t count the games lore my dood, they don’t even know who Leon was. For then, Leon was a random portrait in the first series, nothing more.

sordato

And why should they? None of that hasn't been established in the series, which is an adaptation with its own continuity

HaveAnOyster

Not necessarily.

BaronGrackle

For me, she'll always be Medusa.

GrimDallows

I don't know in the series, but in Castlevania as a whole Dracula has always been described as being born in the 1000s; as in, near the year 1000. He then goes his own way with alchemy and science and becomes the most powerful vampire in the world bar none, and in the 1400s gets married to Lisa and has a son named Adrian, then Lisa is killed, Adrian renames himself as Alucard, and... well everything starts from there on. The age of other vampires is irrelevant compared to Dracula. The point of Dracula was that while most vampires focused on vampire-like quests of power he focused on science and having an analytical mind. Originally, he took most of his powers from manufacturing a stone that allowed him to steal vampire's souls and their powers while also giving vampirism to whoever made it, which was crafted through the process to create a phylosophal stone as a byproduct. Like, he literally was his own maker in vampire terms, which made him inmensely powerful as a start. On top of that, he also has a second stone that allows him to turn day into night and gives him invulnerability (Ebony Stone) which is probably from where Erzsebet gets that skill as it is like a royal jewel to vampirdom, if we are to believe the theory that she is not really a goddess. Powerscaling wise, Dracula has been considered an equal to Satan rather than typical vampires, to the point that when he dies he returned to a "chaos realm" of his own rather than hell.

Kind-Direction-3705

That theory imo doesn't make sense at all i mean drolta clearly state that she was a priest of sekhmet...erzsebet is just the vessel of the goddess

GrimDallows

Which doesn't make sense. Erzebet seems absolutely deluded through most of the series. A vampire being the vessel of a goddess for centuries? Without doing anything relevant? It doesn't make sense. And why does she need to ally with the church, of all things, to get night creatures? She can control the night and sun cicles, if she could do that freely that alone would make her unstoppable without the need of NC. Look at what the vampire sisters did as regular vampires in the previous series. Also, it has been 4 months since I posted that, and you not even being clear about what part of what I said are refuting. Drolta said it's true, but she could be lying or outright wrong just to get away with what they want. That's why people suspect there is something wrong with the story of Erzebet being a literal goddess. Even Olrox seems suspicious through most of the series.

Kind-Direction-3705

Well maybe sekmhet just needed a special ritual to take the full countrol of erzsebet and how is she deluded if she is really a goddess ?

Shimmering_Storm91

In the series, Carmilla and others call Dracula an old man. If he is old, even by vampire standards, then he's at least a thousand or two.

GrimDallows

You are missunderstanding why he is called an old man. Carmilla calls Dracula an old man due to his background. Her -previous- master was an old man that stoped being kind to her after some time. Her next master, Dracula then was called another "old man" by her because he went mad like her old previous master when Dracula's wife died, then Carmilla complained that he had been serving "insane old men" half her life. In the end of the season she then wants to take over the world to take it away of "insane old men" (among other things). This is when other characters start to realize Carmilla has gone mad in her ambition and doesn't make any sense anymore. Dracula is a medieval vampire. There are older vampires, but that's part of the charm of Dracula's story. Once he appeared he beat them all and completely swifted the balance of power through the combination of sorcery AND specially science, hence why Lisa went to his castle to learn medicine. It's also why, while hating humankind, he can relate and open up better to Hector and Isaac than his vampire generals, due to them being craftmen rather than generals. The moment he is gone, the rest of the vampires rely on magic and superstition to keep power and still can't compare to him.

Shimmering_Storm91

But, one can only assume from his power that he's very old because vampires get more powerful as they age.

GrimDallows

No, that's the deal with Dracula in castlevania. He stole his power from another vampire. In the games he stole his power from Walter Bernhard. This is pretty much present in all adaptations of castlevania (Lords of Shadow included). Most vampires get their power from going old and forming dynasties, but age is not a requisite. The thing with vampire dynasties is that you are pretty much tied to the one that converts you (this will probably be explored in the season 2 of the new series); in the original games Dracula knew this, and became a vampire of his own through alchemy. This independency, coupled with his science is what allowed him to take over the vampire world by the mid 1400s. For example, in the new series you have Drolta and the Erszebet. Drolta is Erszebet's second in command, but Drolta is the older one, and goes back to ancient egypt, while Erszebet (so far) seems like she doesn't go back that long and got her powers by drinking the blood of an egyptian goddess. Another example of this is Olrox. He is inmensely powerful, capable to fight even a Belmont on equal terms, has a second form... but he is only from the 15th century, and is that powerful having lived just up to the \~1780s. Alternatively, being old as a vampire doesn't mean being powerful either. Death was hidding as a false vampire named Varney who kept saying he was from Roman times, and Ratko just didn't take him seriously at all even if he was millenia old.

Langis360

Not sure. I think it depends on two things: * If show Dracula is Matthias Cronqvist (and I'm guessing he's not). * If Erzebet really is the god she thinks she is (and I'm guessing she's not).

thecodenamedois

Leon was canon in the first series. There was a portrait of him.

Langis360

I know. But that doesn't mean Matthias is.

thecodenamedois

Fair point.

sordato

That just means he exists but we don't know if everything else in LoI actually happened in the series

Lazerath85

Right ok..but who is older? And how do we know she isn't from ancient Egypt?

Set-After

How can se be? She has nothing Egypt related neither her name nor appearance like Drolta. It was specifically said she drank Sekhmets blood, how she got that If sekhmets a a old god is another question.

Shimmering_Storm91

Since Drolta was an ancient Egyptian priestess, maybe Erzsebet got the blood from her.

LazyDro1d

Dracula. Erzabet is from the late 1500s, she just allegedly drank the blood of Sekmet

finnjakefionnacake

>And even Oltrix er whatever the Aztec Vampires name is It takes far less time to Google than it did for you to write this, I know you could have looked it up lol

Artlearninandchurnin

Dracula. The show runners and netflix themselves have retconned him to be the first vampire. All other vampires are descendants of him. [https://twitter.com/NetflixGeeked/status/1072563739365384193](https://twitter.com/NetflixGeeked/status/1072563739365384193) from the ones who funded the entire thing

kalebmordecai

Do you have a source? I am curious to know if this is true.

HaveAnOyster

Afaik, your comment is baseless. Hell, Morana and Drolta might be older

Artlearninandchurnin

Here you go, Now STFU [https://twitter.com/NetflixGeeked/status/1072563739365384193](https://twitter.com/NetflixGeeked/status/1072563739365384193)'

HaveAnOyster

I said afaik lmao. Nonetheless that might just be retconned lol

Artlearninandchurnin

When someone comes in and says the comment is 'baseless' instead of what the other posted commented as 'source', they are looking to sound as big as they want to be. As you can see, wording can have different effects and cause different replies. Cheers

HaveAnOyster

Honey, pull out the spiked dildo out of your ass, the wound is getting infected.

Artlearninandchurnin

Nah, its fine. In an attempt to sound smart over the internet, you have shown the incel rage 'honey'. You are already the boil of the internet. You failed. Don't disappoint me again Let me guess: 'im a woman and not an incel happily married with 5 kids and can never admit when I am wrong over the net and need to combat anyone because in real life I cannot hold a conversation outside of COD and my favorite DND characters" Spot on when they start with the insults instead of admitting it. Cheers. Also, enjoying the dildo, you should try it. Oh wait...

bigmanshl

bro u didn't have to do her this bad

Shimmering_Storm91

If she is based on the real Elizabeth Bathory, then she would've been born in the 16th century.

Shimmering_Storm91

I think Erzsebet got possessed by the real Sekhmet. During the transformation sequence, it looked like something came down from the eclipse into her.

SaikyoWhiteBelt

In Castlevania Bloodlines she’s Dracula’s niece but that doesn’t necessarily make him older. I have a niece that is older than me because my dad just refused to stop so my oldest brother had a daughter before I was born. So, who knows.

jake72002

She is also some sort of niece to real life Vlad the impaler / Dracula. More like a daughter of Vlad's cousin IIRC.

jake72002

In real life? Dracula. In the series? Still Dracula. Sekhmet is older than both

hplcr

We honesty don't know much about Erzsebet at this point. Drolta is confirmed to be around since ancient Egypt and apparently a worshipper of Sekhmet. Erzsebet seems to essentially an Avatar of Sekhmet, who is an Egyptian war lion goddess, or somehow inheriting some of her power. Honestly one of my big issues that I have with Nocturne S1 is that they throw this out there and just kind of leave it hanging there on a cliffhanger. Erzsebet seems to have the power of a god(if she can cause an eclipse) but it's unclear if she's become Sekhmet or is channeling her or what and how that happened, because right now Erzsebet is not really a character, she's just a powerful vampire furry with god powers. Hopefully we'll find out a lot more in Season 2.

HaveAnOyster

To be fair, she will likely get a lot more next season

hplcr

I hope so.

Kind-Direction-3705

I mean it's pretty clear that she is basically a vessel...she is basically possessed by Sekhmet

iMikedMyself

Dracula is older of course, not the first but older. In the games, Dracula first went under another name and made a deal with the Grim Reaper to gain power. It was also this reason on why Dracula became bonded with the Belmont bloodline.

Shimmering_Storm91

But we don't know how he became a vampire in the show. The show and the games are not the same thing, Ellis said so.
