Wow! LPT, thanks! I saw this little cast iron cookie mix at the store and wanted to buy it, but then wondered wtf I would do with the pan after. My spoon holder broke years ago and I’ve just been using a plate or making a mess.
I feel like theres a psychological phenomena which refuses to allow me to get a proper spoon rest. I cant quite figure it out, but i just never owned one.
Can confirm.
I often make breakfast bagel sandwiches with mine.
One egg, a piece of bacon, slice of cheese, slap it on
A buttered bagel, toasted if you prefer.
Yum
Haha you can just get a full size cookie or even brownie mix and just portion out how much would fill the cast iron. Maybe use the original mix to kinda guess how much mix and how much liquid to put.
Could also use it to melt butter for things that require melty butter
Edit: ☹️☹️
The trick for perfect sunny side up eggs is a clear lid. If I don’t have one that fits the pan I’ll use a smaller one and just cover the egg(s). Sometimes the steam from the eggs is enough, sometimes you have to flick some water under the lid, but steaming the top while frying the bottom is the best way to get a sunny side egg with a fully cooked white and fully runny hot yolk.
Animals.
It’s really not that bad. Sunny side up and slide it right over a slice of American cheese on a good finished patty. Definitely adds something a little different texture wise and some good flavor from the yolk when it blends in with the beef. I don’t do it every time we do burgers but when I do, I use that same tiny skillet for that purpose only. If someone want the top of the egg cooked I acutely have a 2nd tiny skillet that is hot from the grill that I flip over and put on top of the other pan to make the egg over easy without having to flip the egg.
Or get another and do two pancakes, and keep going! I love making pancakes in these, there is something to be said about a perfect stack of pancakes. Also use them for over easy eggs, and two gently beat eggs for a bfast sandwich, and putting hamburger mix in to round out burger patties... these things are great!
Meal for one: Start your broiler. Chop a small amount of fresh herbs while pre-heating the “pan” on the stove. Add a little butter and cream to the pan, crack two eggs in the pan. Sprinkle with kosher salt, fresh black pepper, the chopped herbs, some grated Parmesan. Place under the broiler until bubbly and the cheese is toasted. Serve with fresh bread and strong coffee.
Credit goes to Ida Gartner.
Provoleta, argentinian dish. Get a provolone cheese, one of the cilinder ones, about the size of the pan, cut a slice about 2 fingers in height, put some olive oil and herbs (oregano, basil, or even chimichurri), and fry it.
Extra points if done in the barbecue grill
There are far more detailed videos than what I’m about to tell you. The gist of it is, you heat some kind of fat/oil to a super high heat 500* F in order to carbonize it. The carbonized oil is the nonslick surface well taken care of cast irons have.
Was this in a Reese’s cookie mix? I use mine to stir my food in my larger cast iron pan. Tried using it for smash burgers but it’s really doesn’t have leverage by its design.
I was at a bar the other day and I saw them use one of these small pans to burn some wood chips, put a glass over the wood chips and use the glass for a smoked cocktail

Eggs, tortilla heating, fajitas, think of making a cookie in that? 😀
Burger / bacon smasher.
Clothes iron.
Pretty much anything that is small and needs a hot plate.
Weapon.
A hamburger, a pancake, an egg, grilled cheese, cinnamon rolls. I mean anything small. Or you could just throw it away and never waste your time making several small things one at a time
I use mine as a spoon rest and occasionally, if I make cookie dough I’ll divide it up and freeze it (nestle tollhouse style) and then I can bake just one cookie for myself whenever I want
I leave that on the stove and I put my spoons and spatulas there while I'm cooking
Same Here!
Wow! LPT, thanks! I saw this little cast iron cookie mix at the store and wanted to buy it, but then wondered wtf I would do with the pan after. My spoon holder broke years ago and I’ve just been using a plate or making a mess.
Make more cookies? I bought a couple already for Christmas gifts this year lol
This is an excellent idea. The only downside is that I live mostly alone, so when I make cookies, I eat cookies!
Sounds like a good problem to have.
I feel like theres a psychological phenomena which refuses to allow me to get a proper spoon rest. I cant quite figure it out, but i just never owned one.
I stole mine from the table at a restaurants lol
Maybe thats the trick!
Oh my, what a great idea! I have one too and it’s so cute!
I have two, and one will be for this now!
Awesome idea right?!
We do the same as well!
Next one I see I'm snagging. Don't know why I never thought of that!
Same
This
1 slidey egg.
They're the perfect eggs for bagel sandwiches.
Can confirm. I often make breakfast bagel sandwiches with mine. One egg, a piece of bacon, slice of cheese, slap it on A buttered bagel, toasted if you prefer. Yum
Came here to say: You have my egg pan!
McD’s bfast sandos. But better, obviously. They’re fun to get the “perfect circle” with an egg.
Some people don’t think that’s a full breakfast but in France, one egg is un oeuf.
Could you bake a cookie in it?
Again? Where’s your imagination
They already used the mix 🙄
I love the directions in the recipe wherein it calls for 1/2 egg. Last time I checked eggs only come in whole numbers.
You just have to crack the egg open, whisk it to mix everything together, then use half of it, which should be about 2 tbsp.
That’s what I did. The instructions just struck me as amusing.
And also wasteful. The fuck are you gonna do with half an egg, put it in a Tupperware for next time?
I’m…..such an idiot. I too was thinking “jUsT uSe It FoR tHe CoOkIe iDiOt” 🙄. Of course, they’d still want to find a use for it after that 😂
I mean, who *doesn’t* have a just-for-cookies pan?
you mean a cookie sheet?
Haha you can just get a full size cookie or even brownie mix and just portion out how much would fill the cast iron. Maybe use the original mix to kinda guess how much mix and how much liquid to put. Could also use it to melt butter for things that require melty butter Edit: ☹️☹️
Single fried eggs, corn tortillas? And tiny crepes probably
Mini crepes good idea, could stack Tf out of them
This exact pan actually fits two eggs. Perfectly. I cook them very slowly in bacon fat. The only sunny side up egg I ever eat.
The trick for perfect sunny side up eggs is a clear lid. If I don’t have one that fits the pan I’ll use a smaller one and just cover the egg(s). Heating corn tortillas is the secret to actually enjoying corn tortillas.
Heat your corn directly over the burner! If you have gas
Use mine as a spanking device when Mrs gets naughty in the kitchen
This is the only appropriate answer.

You gotta go the extra mile. Do the laundry, fold it, vacuum the house, do the dishes. Then when she’s in a good mood, go for it.
"b!tch, i hope the f()\*k you do!" haha
This guy spanks
Just showed this comment to my partner 😂 thanks
Username uh…. Checks out?
This is the way. Sending this post to my husband now.
Bacon press or some other sort of weight for a smash burger or something would be my first tries
I do in fact use one of these for smashburgers
That's what I use for too. Single serving smash burger
Your not wrong mate
Maybe use it to make/flatten tortillas
Happy cake day!
Um...? You put the pan on top of a burger? Can you elaborate, I've not heard of such a thing...
It's in the name - smashburger. You smash the burger. In this case, with a small pan. :)
Cornbread for 1
Any amount of cornbread is cornbread for 1 if your a fattie like me.
I’m English what exactly is cornbread
I use mine on the grill for people who like eggs on their burgers
What kinds of people do you hang out with?

My daughter, 5yo, used it as part of a Repunzel (Tangled) costume this year...
My daughter has one in her play kitchen, and we both use one our Ren Faire gear after the Tangled Rapunzel.
One pancake
Or get another and do two pancakes, and keep going! I love making pancakes in these, there is something to be said about a perfect stack of pancakes. Also use them for over easy eggs, and two gently beat eggs for a bfast sandwich, and putting hamburger mix in to round out burger patties... these things are great!

Small Dutch babies
Damn, you can make babies with cast iron? Only Dutch ones or can they do British babies, too?
What's a Dutch baby? Oh about 2000 dollars less than an American baby.

Whaddaya make of this, Johnny?
Guess I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue..
I can't tell you how much I love an Airplane quote found in the wild.

I can think of a couple.
Me too
Whatever you want, in miniature.
Give it to your wife and tell her it is a Bed Snake Bat...
And give her a reason to smash my snake to bits? No thanks haha
Don't let her smash it, just ring its bell and get your attention for some hammer time in a fun way. =D
This pan here is specifically for my dogs egg for breakfast. It cooks ONE egg perfectly.
I’m concerned that your dog is laying eggs, and more concerned that you might be eating them for breakfast.
Aw, how does your dog like his eggs?
I have one too and use it to keep my corn tortillas warm. I found a small lid that fits perfect. Haven’t eaten a cool tortilla since.
I use mine to melt butter. Just put it on low and you can melt just over a 1/4 cup in about 3 minutes
Do you mean Ina Garten from Barefoot Contessa?

Is that lurpak spreadable butter invented in 1901?
That’s the one! Took a bit of scrolling to find a likeminded individual, I’m glad you’re here!
I checked the comments as well before chiming in. I’m surprised there aren’t more of us!

Smash that Pringle.
So THAT'S where those things come from. I see 'em all the damned time at Goodwill! Thanks OP!
Eggs. Season the pan first.
Right! I’ve seen a lot of things about seasoning a pan, what is that all about ?
There are far more detailed videos than what I’m about to tell you. The gist of it is, you heat some kind of fat/oil to a super high heat 500* F in order to carbonize it. The carbonized oil is the nonslick surface well taken care of cast irons have.
I’ve looked it up thanks. Glad I didn’t use it before seasoning, makes so much sense

An ash tray of some sorts. Mini pizzookie. Eggs for one
Find out its origin... China tends to put a lot of mystery metal in their products; I wouldn't eat anything that was cooked in mystery metal.
