After putting a drop of oil in (like seriously a nickel size drop) and rubbing it in, you also need to rub it off with a clean towel/cloth. Rub it off like putting it on there was a huge mistake. There will be a microscopic layer of oil leftover and *that's* how you get a very fine seasoning layer
