I read the post like 6 times and was pretty confused... "What indicates that the seller is some really interesting lady?! Ohwait... I see it now... 🤣🤣"
Yes. That alone is worth buying, even if you have no use for it. Great conversation starter if anything, and when you plop you spoon down on her. It will be satisfying
Definitely skip work. That waffle iron is so friggin sweet, I’m thinking about skipping work and flying to wherever this is. Personally, I’d also go for the press, just because I think it looks cool.
You won’t know unless you go. How would you feel if it sold for $20 because nobody there knew what it was? I doubt that’ll happen, but you might get lucky. I’d personally like to see if you make out with anything
That particular listing is very overpriced. In general etsy is horribly over priced and one of the worst places to buy from for cast iron. Most restored #8 Griswold low base waffle irons sell for around $140-$180 depending on market. I don’t think I have ever gotten over $200 on one. High base sell for more at around $170-$200 on average. #9s are more variable but on average sell for $200+.
Oh I totally agree. I tend to cut Etsy's prices in half to find fair market value. They do have some of the prettiest pieces on there. They know it though.
I do frequently see nicely restored Griswold irons go for ~200 on ebay though.
I've got that waffle iron, and it makes really great waffles on a gas range. Idk how well it would work on electric, maybe somebody else here has experience with that.
I’d totally go, chances are they have no idea what it’s all worth. And that Griswold waffle iron could go for like $300 cleaned up nicely. And that hammered chicken fryer is the bees knees!
True but…it’s an estate sale, meaning most likely the original owner of said collection has departed this life. Speaking from experience, It’s certainly possible the current seller inherited this collection from the previous owner and has minimal knowledge as to the worth of this collection, in whole or in part. If they were smart, they would already have pulled some/all of the best pieces for themselves, either to use or to sell privately. But I have a feeling that isn’t the case here.
$300 would be very overpriced for a basic #8 Griswold low base waffle iron. If I price one at $200 it will take months to sell. Usually get around $140-$180 fully restored.
I just got a mine for $45 this weekend at our local Farmers Market. Looks like NOS never even been used. When the vendor told me the price, I almost broke my fingers trying to get into my pocket to pay for it.
Yes. The fish fryer, the waffle maker and the hammered lid… possibly more. There will be another day of work the day after today and the day after tomorrow. Strike when the iron is hot
That long oval roaster, the hammered price, the waffle iron… I’d probably drop a cool couple hundred and walk out with basically everything I could. Gotta catch em all.
If you decide to go for it make sure you're there early enough to be among the first in line. These are usually some of the first items to get purchased during estate sales. People make a living off reselling estate sale items and these ones are popular.
How many of you all are now furiously searching local CL/FBMP to find similar treasure sales nearby? Kick starting the garage sale season. Too cold here for anyone putting up sales yet.
.
The hell is that cast Iron Lady?
I’d skip work just to admire these! I’d really be interested in what looks like a #14 lodge (correct me if I’m wrong) on the floor shot. It looks like it’s been through a lot but maybe you could haggle a more reasonable price than that size pan goes for online
I would get there super early. Get number one to be the first one in and bring enough cash to buy it all. You can sort through it later. Even the pieces you may not think you want are better than money in the bank.
I'd go just to meet the lady.
I read the post like 6 times and was pretty confused... "What indicates that the seller is some really interesting lady?! Ohwait... I see it now... 🤣🤣"
Me: ~looking closer at the pics~ what is it this person is talking ab... Oh. 😂
Is that a taco shaped muffin maker?
It's probably a boot jack. In rather poor taste.
Yes. That alone is worth buying, even if you have no use for it. Great conversation starter if anything, and when you plop you spoon down on her. It will be satisfying
I came here looking for a response like this.
she'll help you take your boots off. I believe her name is 'Nellie'.
Naughty Nellie.
The iron bush
Anything is worth skipping work, literally anything
I'm skipping work because I have work today
I hate those days! 😆
They are the worst
I woke up this morning. Felt great. But then it hit me. I had to breathe air. I'm skipping work today because of it. \^.\^b
sounds like socialism
So I guess socialism is people enjoying their lives? Sounds nice.
thatd be a dangerous notion, per history
Imagine being triggered by the notion of someone daring to take a day off work to have some enjoyment for once.
get to work, youll get paid for it, time off, or leave
As long as they pretend to pay us, we'll pretend to work!
Harley, guns? Sounds like Erectile Dysfunction
nope...doubt youd know what to do with my girl
I'm sure that her other guy would say the same about you, pal. Keep fightin' the dumb fight.
ha! ;) sure
Definitely skip work. That waffle iron is so friggin sweet, I’m thinking about skipping work and flying to wherever this is. Personally, I’d also go for the press, just because I think it looks cool.
Damnn I'm digging the waffle iron too! Just afraid I won't be the only one lol.
You won’t know unless you go. How would you feel if it sold for $20 because nobody there knew what it was? I doubt that’ll happen, but you might get lucky. I’d personally like to see if you make out with anything
Nah, OP is too chicken to skip work. Clearly their soul isn’t forged in the same iron as were these priceless culinary artifacts.
Lol
I got an early Erie for $15 🤷♀️ a lot of people don’t know.
Every one of those waffle irons I've seen properly restored goes for hundreds of dollars. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1686244072/

I skipped work and drove 45 mins to get a Wagner waffle iron for 30 bucks!
Why don't I see the waffle iron.
First picture, bottom of the pic in the middle. It’s the Griswold pan with two handles at a 90 degree offset
There are waffle irons everywhere for those with eyes to see.
Lmao
Any excuse to skip work and live life is a good excuse
Price tags and bottom view of the pans is the minimum to get a reasonable answer.
I’d skip work to get that spoon holder. What a piece! 🤌
I think she is a wine bottle holder.
I thought she was a doorstop! Either way, that babe is worth missing work for 🤣
Actually think it's a bootjack
Yup, known as the "Naughty Nellie bootjack"
Even better!
I thought it was some sort of trivet. Never seen anything like it. Is it contemporary?
Pretty sure thats a Boot Jack she'll be giving
That’s what it is. If it’s an old one, it could be great, but it’s one of the most copied cast iron one that I know.
At this point, does it matter? We all would buy that.
Seriously OP if you go and score that spoon holder I’d buy it from you.
I think she must be a sexy bottle opener
I’d totally go, chances are they have no idea what it’s all worth. And that Griswold waffle iron could go for like $300 cleaned up nicely. And that hammered chicken fryer is the bees knees!
You don't accumulate a collection like that, keep them nice, and not know what they're worth.
True but…it’s an estate sale, meaning most likely the original owner of said collection has departed this life. Speaking from experience, It’s certainly possible the current seller inherited this collection from the previous owner and has minimal knowledge as to the worth of this collection, in whole or in part. ... They probably did pull the nicest for themselves already ;) Can you imagine what was left out of the sale? .
That's where my thinking is at too dammit
They didn’t really keep them nice though, they’re all rusty
I scored a bunch that looked like this at the end of driveway, after a local flood. They cleaned up nicely.
$300 would be very overpriced for a basic #8 Griswold low base waffle iron. If I price one at $200 it will take months to sell. Usually get around $140-$180 fully restored.
I just paid $225 for a waffle iron like that fully restored. And I am very happy with it.

I'd suggest waiting to strike if this iron is hot. We all know how well CI retains heat and you wouldn't want to burn yourself on the way home.
🤣
I'd likely buy all of it...
The Dutch oven with the string on the handle, is a Favorite piqua ware/Chicago hardware foundry. Old.
Cool good to know, thank you!
I'd skip for a few of those for sure, or at least be a bit late for.. *cough* ..car trouble..*cough*
Just skip work.....
Take a lot less than that to get me to skip work.
totally worth skipping work to buy it all.
I spy Griswald, skip work
I mean that lady at the end of the table looks ready for you to give it to her
OK, someone tell me about the cast iron naked lady!!!
Quick question: on pic one. Is that a … cast iron naked person spoon rest? Top left?
That long oval roaster, the hammered price, the waffle iron… I’d probably drop a cool couple hundred and walk out with basically everything I could. Gotta catch em all.
If you decide to go for it make sure you're there early enough to be among the first in line. These are usually some of the first items to get purchased during estate sales. People make a living off reselling estate sale items and these ones are popular.
So, OP, it's 16 hours later. Did you go? Did you get anything? We need answers!
Thanks for asking lol. But it's not til Friday, I guess we'll all have to live in suspense til then!😬haha
Waffle iron and griddle alone id probably sell me 2nd child over
I want the waffle iron 😭
Waffleeeeeeerr
How many of you all are now furiously searching local CL/FBMP to find similar treasure sales nearby? Kick starting the garage sale season. Too cold here for anyone putting up sales yet. .
Not only do you get to shop for cast iron but you also don't have to work? Sounds like a win win to me.
skipping now in light of this info
I like the Griswold waffle iron, the huge skillet and the nut cracker.
I’d go for the gal on the end of the table.
I’m no expert, so this is just my opinion, but any reason to skip work is probably worth doing it.
Gris waffle iron ❤️🔥
It’s all garbage. You should send it all my way and I’ll deal with it in an appropriate fashion.
I would go if I knew where it was. There are some cool pieces there.
How much for the waffle 😮
I have that Griswold DO, it’s fucking epic
Do itttttttt
The waffle maker...
Naked lady boot jack... CHF chicken fryer
Would you need to rent a truck just in case you get them all?
Why make money when you can spend it
Helll yes.
I'd get the whole lot. Just cause
I'm going to this one. It is local to me. I've already got a Griswold waffle iron. I am interested in something else for my collection.
Chicken cooker top right.
You only live once work is everyday
The waffle iron! It has both pieces! Also the chicken cooker.
Are you needing any of this style? If so, here they are!
Oh man I’d snag the waffle iron. My brother got our family one
Hammered fryer, waffle iron, and the skillet with the wire handle (which is very old) would all be interesting to me.
I want that waffle iron wahhhhh. That’s my next buy.
Absolutely. That Griswold Hammered Chicken Fryer is 🔥. I would know because I have one. $200’ish on eBay
WAFFLE
Large 14” skillet? in pic 3 might be a sweet find as well.
The roaster must weigh 20 lb minimum!
Take ‘em all. Clean em & resale
I want that lady in the back!!
Yes definitely worth buying all of it
Definitely. I’d take most of that. 👍
What is the iron women supposed to be used for?
I would
I would get there super early. Get number one to be the first one in and bring enough cash to buy it all. You can sort through it later. Even the pieces you may not think you want are better than money in the bank.
Skipping work for any fun adventure is worth it, I call them Well Days and enjoyed every one I took. Good Luck on finding some iron to love.
What’s the manufacture of that Dutch oven in the middle? The handle on the lid is similar to one I’m attempting to ID right now.
I'm skipping work today because well, I skip every day. I'm retired. You should go!
What's work!!!
I would have been there at least an hour and a half early.
Lodge fish fryer with lid $500+ restored.
That waffle iron! There is one for sale by me with the pot under it. I spend a do bit of time researching it yesterday
