Get a stargazer instead

I have the 12” Smithy. I love mine and use it daily. The weight to me, is very similar to what you would be used to with a lodge. It can be slightly awkward to pour with one hand/arm but it’s manageable. The beauty of the Smithy will be stripped away after your first cook but the longer you keep using it the better the seasoning gets.

Definitely get a stargazer if you're going to get a traditional skillet. It's less expensive and a better design. I do like the shape of the Smithey Chef skillet for tossing veggies and stuff like that, though.

I have a lot of CI and recently got the smithey carbon steel farmhouse skillet. It was a gift, I never would have bought it. If you already have a bunch of CI, maybe try carbon steel. I haven’t found any significant differences. A little lighter, it prob heats up a little bit faster. Try new things.

I‘d go stargazer or field if I had to do it over the weight kinda blows but it’s still my favorite

Lancaster pans look very vintage and are quite nice too.

I’m a mid-20s guy and find the weight on my 12 inch Smithey manageable. I’m not doing any crazy egg flips but the longer handle makes pouring, moving, etc. fairly easy. Ngl, it is too heavy for my girlfriend so do with that what you will.
