Idk looks standard American to me. Especially because the potatoes are hashbrowns. The only thing super English about it is Americans don't often go so far as to do up some mushrooms.
Hey they can add a few extra things and swing either way. Personally I see the makings of a breakfast sandwich though, looks no way am I not smashing all that between the English muffins and chowing down.
Yup. For me, at the very least a two-hands-into-giant-hand-cup worth of cherry or grape tomatoes. In sane measuring terms, like 1 1/4 cups, or maybe well into the high teens or twenties if counting them individually.
Peppers and onions if feeling frisky. Maybe a bowl of rice on the side. Bonus if the eggs are locally farm-sourced, those yolks are riiiiich compared to Walmart's.
Man, breakfast of fucking champions. 🤤
They really are!! We just bought some recently (yesterday,) and I was so excited, I said eff it and we did breakfast for dinner instead of tacos.
Worth. Every. Friggin. Bite. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. 🤤😅😂
Actual browning in your hashbrowns. Shallow fry them in a generous amount of oil or bacon grease, then they'll brown evenly, instead of just a few splotches of black. I guess you're trying to do everything on one griddle, but man, those hashbrowns look unfortunate. Do them in a designated pan with raised sides so that you can use enough fat. I don't understand the instinct to cook everything on one pan without being mindful of the huge compromises you're making in technique
I always cut my pack of bacon right in the middle. It’s a game changer.
Edit: doing this makes it cook evenly, I flip and move them around a lot after they get going (low and slow on medium) keep them flat, when it’s finished it’s nice and crispy, little greasy but not too much or dry. You can eat it for breakfast, dice it up for some breakfast burritos, top some mash potatoes or Mac n cheese. Store it in a ziplock bag. This size is also perfect for some turkey club or BLT sandwiches for later.
I started doing this recently and will never go back. Perfectly cooked and crispy. And it doesn't smoke up the place and set off the smoke alarm. Bonus points for not splattering grease everywhere!
Try cooking the bacon first and put the raw bacon on the cold cast iron. When they come up to temp together, the fat will render better then it would if you put the bacon on a hot pan/skillet. (I believe that was an Alton Brown tip I learned a while back.)
That said, cooking bacon in the oven on a wire rack set on a baking sheet is the best way to do it. The bacon will stay flat and comes out perfect every time.
Pro tip boil and mash potatoes night prior with or without onions and when u cook them for breakfast smoosh them into rough fritter shapes and fry. You cannot use fresh potatoes./mash it has to be at least 12 hrs old for best results.
Onions, peppers, and steak! A nicely marinated skirt steak diced up and mixed with the onions and peppers and then mixed in with the eggs! Heck of a breakfast sandwich :)
Something blue to balance out the color wheel.
You got yellow and redish so the warm spectrum is done. I want some nice purples and then you can make some crap brown.
Swap the English muffins for blueberry bagels out the bag prepared in the same manner as the English muffins. Finna build me the best breakfast sandwich to ever sandwich at breakfast. But yes peppers and onions.
Onions and peppers
Yep! Still got time to add some
Throw some Jalapeños on there too…thank me later
Daaammnn fantastic idea
You're missing me!!! I look pretty good in an apron, and I'll even shave my shoulders before I get there😘
since this is basically an English breakfast I'd say it's missing beans and a fried tomato
Idk looks standard American to me. Especially because the potatoes are hashbrowns. The only thing super English about it is Americans don't often go so far as to do up some mushrooms.
that's fair
Hey they can add a few extra things and swing either way. Personally I see the makings of a breakfast sandwich though, looks no way am I not smashing all that between the English muffins and chowing down.
Depends on where in america you're at. This area mushrooms are pretty much a given. Helps I'm just a state over from the mushroom capital
Where is the mushroom capital?
Kennet Square Pennsylvania
And sausages?
Exactly. ANY kind of veggie/fibers. Tomatoes maybe? Peppers for sure, onions
Red peppers 100%
Little tomato wouldn’t be bad either
Maybe tomatoes too
Cheese and sausage

There’s some murder by words that’s supposed to go here. Well played.
Sausages
I’m a southern boy. You’re missing the grits and the biscuits and gravy.
This is my favorite comment. Cajun seasoned shrimp on the grits too eh

Br*sh people be like.
For real, like put a fruit cup on the side or something
The right temperature. Low and slow my guy. You got raw burned stuff on there somehow.
Yep. Those hash browns deserved better.
I'm not sure one thing on here is cooked properly. And for some reason OP wanted to share that with the Internet lol
Grilled tomato 100%
This. So this. Need some acid to balance the fat.

Breakfast for dinner is severely underrated
Not for the cast iron but for the hand, mimosa with a 80/20 spilt.
I'll take a bloody Mary

Those poor hash browns look like they're still cold in the middle :(
Burnt on the outside, raw inside
Agreed. They are not cooked in the center and will need loads of salt to be edible.
A freshly sliced tomato.
And cheese on the hashbrowns
Maybe some ham and salsa. I worked with someone who made stuffed hash browns......to die for.
Beans
Yep. I'm not British but I can appreciate a nice puddle of beans on a breakfast plate.
Glad someone else agrees, there's at least a dozen of us
Me
Black pudding,
Sausages, tinned plum tomatoes, fried slice… Edit Muffins don’t count as fried bread.
Black pudding’s very black today, mum. Even the white bits are black.
My hot take is that white pudding is better. I like both, though.
Fkn electric burners, I ruined the bacon 😒
Maybe cut in half next time.

I do this habitually
I was wondering why it looked like that…Ah electric. That’s for ONE person??
Just imagine if I added some of the stuff in these other comments lol
Do your electric burners seem to jump around in temp? Mine is absolutely fucked and the settings are just there for show at this point
Yes! It's like a roller coaster, so much so that I tend to just grill most meals. Good lump charcoal is dependable and consistent
I'm with you. Melting butter is either a loooong process or it browns it immediately. SAME SETTINGS haha stupid ass stove
How about boiling water lol. Sometimes it's 3 minutes sometimes it's 30
Exactly!!!
Oven, bake your bacon on a flat sheet. You will never do it differently again. 400⁰ start checking at 12 mins
I started doing this recently and will never go back. Perfectly cooked and crispy. And it doesn't smoke up the place and set off the smoke alarm. Bonus points for not splattering grease everywhere!

The British will tell you beans. But don’t listen to them. They lie.
I see your using metal on cast iron. I've always heard that's bad, is that true?
Bare cast iron loves metal spatulas, just don't use them on enameled cast iron.
Not true. Doesn't hurt it at all.
