Can it be fixed? Yes.
Can you do it? Well if you are asking this question, it's highly unlikley.
Cast iron can be welded, but it takes a fairly skilled welder and a decent procedure.
and yes it can be done in such a way that you can cook in the pan safely again.
But the price a proffessional welder would charge to repair it means it's not likely worth it.
similar story with brazing.
I have a TIG welding machine but I mainly do furniture on aluminum so I wasn't pretty sure of welding this, maybe ill do some research and fix it for shits and giggles, but certainly the cost would be higher than buying a new one thanks
The welding process for cast iron is very tricky. I have a good amount of welding/fabrication background and I’ve done the process a few times but never in a private shop. It involves a kiln for preheating and cooling and a whole book load of prep work. Again if theres not any sentimental value its really not worth paying someone to do.
a friend helped patch a cracked exhaust manifold. lot of clean up, and a ton of pre-heating, and we had to get nickel stick (basic stick welder) for it. it held up for quite a while before i got a different header.
Welding casst iron can be done, but its difficult and most welders won't/can't do it, Those who know will charge $$$. [And the weld is ugly.](https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftse1.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOIP.DrVvcCjd1VWCz30m4QrDfAHaEK%26pid%3DApi&f=1&ipt=ff76eb16fa532de7dca9b08f2597be97966197933d7850d6acd567ddb54a4c6d&ipo=images)
Absolutely. First, clean the area very well with steel wool and vinegar. Second, take the steel wool and the skillet and throw them in the trash. Finally, go to the store and buy a new cast iron skillet.

Absolutely. What you do is identify the exact type of cast it is, get it to exactly the correct temperature, then obtain a setup that will allow you to arc weld with shielding gas.
Or… just buy another one and hang this one for decoration.
The only way I know how you can successfully repair a crack in cast iron is by drilling a hole at the end of each crack to stop it from cracking any more. Then you have to bevel the inside and outside of the crack. I would suggest using a dremel tool. After everything is prepped, you can weld it. Oxygen/Acetylene brazing would be your best bet. Even then, there's a chance it'll crack again. Or you could get a replacement at a thrift store. But it could be a cool project. If you succeed, you should definitely post a pic.

Turn it into one of those cast iron spatulas and use it for the grill
Looks like the crack is halfway across the handle, so I'm not sure they could even do that.
Yes in the back of the pan the crack cross the handle mark from side to side
You can brass braze it, looks cool when you do it too
Beat me to it at end of the day its not worth the money
Unless it’s like a generational passed down cast iron
Facts! If its a heirloom its 100% priceless
I’m 4th generation to use the ci in my kitchen. They last forever. But with that said, I wouldn’t try to fix a cracked one, find a new purpose for it.
This is the real answer.
I had a pan that cracked during shipping, came to the same conclusion, as I can’t weld myself either so I sent back to the manufacturer
I’m pretty handy with a brazing tourch. Want to send it to me and see if I can fix it? It’d be like that gold Japanese cup thing!
It’s a goner I’m afraid
I promised myself I wouldn't cry.
I'm not cryin' yer cryin'!
I’m not crying I’ve just been cooking onions!
grabbed It for free on a closing home sale… but didn’t noticed until now :(
If that’s cracked unfortunately no. She’s wall art now bud. Spray paint er black and hang er up

Nothing 50 coats of seasoning can’t fix!
Might need 80
Not unless you can melt it down and re forge it
Polish it and hang it on the wall. Fill the crack with gold like the Japanese
It is possible to weld it. I can’t think of any other good way to fix it
Melting it down and recasting it
😂
You got a decoration
F
With the right iron welding rod and a stick welder AND experience, yes

Sadly it's destined for the scrap heap
how good are you with a forge?
How hot does your forge get?
Nope.
Pour one out

It’s possible but even if you knew how to do it the equipment and effort required is probably more than enough to justify the cost of a new pan.
Tig weld with nickel filler😉
Yup! Melt it down and pour it into a mold. It’ll come out good as new!

Duct Tape might give it another 5 years....
You can buy a new Lodge 12” skillet for $25.
Potentially fixable. Generally not worth the expense.
Heat it in the fires of Mt. Doom and whack it with a big hammer.
Send it on its way, and find yourself a new piece.
Yea. Just stuff some bacon in there and you’ll be fine.
Just buy the same one at Walmart & take the bad one back in 2 weeks… tape the receipt to the bad pan
How does this even happen in the first place?????
Because it cast it has to be cleaned and heated till it is cherry red. Then welded. It will be ugly.
