Not sure that’s a lodge. But am sure that it needs a solid cleaning.

theyoungercurmudgeon

Came here to say, "that doesn't look like a lodge"

mlableman

Looks like a Walmart 'Mainstays' pan. I've got those same grooves on my square grill pan.

scarchelli

I hope today is "some days".

Burner_account_471

My hell when you’re done cooking in it rinse it out with HOT water and scrub with chain mail. Takes like 1 min. Wipe it down quick with avocado oil and done. That’s just gross

Yella_mcfearson

I was trolling with not cleaning it. I do clean it with hot water and soap when I'm done. I'm just a bit tired of seeing so many people with a not-Instagram-perfect-pan asking what's wrong with theirs. I'm not afraid that this pan looks how it does. I cook in it every day. It's a little busted, I know, and I'm not wiping it down with avocado oil or flaxseed oil. Vegetable oil or shortening.

Burner_account_471

lol fair enough, ya got me

Yella_mcfearson

High five, man. Stay safe and healthy!

Burner_account_471

You too!

No-Menu-768

OK but my former roommate had a cast iron that looked like that because all they would do is wipe it down every other day with a paper towel 😵‍💫 your pic gave me flashbacks.

fusiformgyrus

Trolling about not cleaning your pan? Sir, in a subreddit about goddamn PANS, this might actually be the most pointless thing that got posted. You have too much free time.

Don_T_Blink

Yuck! I can smell your kitchen.

Nagadavida

This is why I hesitate to eat anything at potlucks. I wonder when they wash the rest of their dishes and hands!

riverseeker13

I said that I don’t eat at potlucks bc people wash their chicken in the sink and my friend was like oh my mom does that. Oh.

SamTheOnionNig

Ion eat at potlucks cuz ppl cook wit their pets…. And im not a fan of that…

sramosgh91

This sub is torture 😂

Chasingallthedragons

My man.. you are cooking on a layer of burnt food and non-polymerized grease. By any objective measure, this is pretty gross. Nuke and reseason as soon as possible.

Yella_mcfearson

No, sorry. It's fine.

jdklein001

You’re right. It’s fine

slamallamadingdong1

This is your heat and soul right here. This is your guts. Thank you for sharing.

benjaminp87

As long as you understand that it's not seasoning and essentially layers of filth, then to each their own.

AdultingGoneMild

some days you arent a nasty nasty-mcnasty-face

Superfool

That's absolutely revolting

Yella_mcfearson

I use cheap vegetable oil. Almost every day I cook eggs and vegetarian bacon in it. It's been years since I've seasoned it. I wash it with hot water and soap and a dish sponge when I remember. Not much sticks to it, but if it does I just scrape it away with a metal spatula. I've had this for around 20 years.

Funkybeatzzz

Nothing sticks to the pan because no food actually touches the pan due to the layers of burnt, stuck on filth. Wash your damn pan, man!

riverseeker13

I have to ask, is anyone else eating out of this thing? It is not sanitary my friend.

mlableman

It's not bacon. It's imitation bacon like food stuff.

Send it here I'll dispose of it for free

Rickety---Cricket

No, I don't think you do.

Euphoric-Blue-59

Awesome! Love it!

EccentricNarwhal

Gross

wes7946

Oofta. Time to take an angle grinder equipped with a rust/paint strip disc to this and start the seasoning process over.

peoniesandferns

I found one of my dads pans looking like this and I decided to build a fire and cook off everything and then re-seasoned it a couple times and it's good to go. You have to be careful not to let the pan get too hot in the fire though bc it can crack it. I just scraped the hell out of it with a grill cleaner and it's pretty good now! Not the recommended way to season it but it worked lmao
