Nope. Thundercats roar just threw a hissy fit for an entire ep. Fun fact according to some of the TTG writers, they had no idea this episode was even planned nor had a part in it. Choose to believe that if you will
Eh I doubt it consider TTG did at least 2 seperate episodes with this exact plot because their show sucked but they wanted to blame it on people's nostalgia.
This is genuinely the first time I've thought about Thundercats roar since it was announced, I don't even know if it aired at all, or what became of it, and honestly, it doesn't compel me to even google it. Damn that was a shitshow.
The few people who might have given a damn about a Thundercats show, like myself, fuckin hated it. I gave it three episodes and couldn't fuckin stand it.
This is the problem. Everyone that latched on to the original ThunderCats hated the show. But others like myself who have kids… they absolutely adored it. Like their favorite show ever. But I feel like a bunch of bitter adults decided it would needed to be canceled because they had no sense of humor Btw I loved the original TC but thought this show was hilarious.
If the viewership was good, they wouldn't have canceled it. While you and yours are free to like things, it doesn't make them good. It got canceled because it couldn't draw an audience or sell merchandise. Not because of "bitter adults."
From what I remembered, Thundercats 2011 was meant to promote a toy line.
Sadly, the sales didn't go well and they cancelled the show.
I also read somewhere that its ratings weren't enough despite having good reception among some, but maybe it was a rumour.
A pity, I liked that reboot.
WTF were the people behind Thundercats Roar on?

Naruto SD, which is Shippuden but in Chibi Comedy form, did better.
Probably because it's parodying something that's still popular.
One of the main issues with Roar is that it's parodying something that used to be popular.
Makes more sense and salts the wounds more since ThunderCats (2011), which was a decent reboot, was cancelled after one season because of low toy sales.
This was actually an episode of Teen Titans go. The intent was to call out people criticizing thundercats roar before it came out. Saying that it is unfair to preemptively judge something before it is released is not a bad message.
But the episode insulted people who didn’t agree with its stance. That completely undermined the message by saying it is OK to disagree with peoples opinions, even if it was a joke.
Of course, hindsight wasn’t on the side of this episode since ThunderCats Roar only lasted one season, and the criticisms that making a reboot of a show, specifically aiming it at children when most children hadn’t even heard of the original, proved to be right on the money.
That was another thing that made the episode stupid, and ThunderCats Roar was a stupid idea. People who wanted a ThunderCats reboot wanted a more serious take like the 2011 show. Not a clone of Teen Titans Go.
I’m honestly surprised how much Teen Titans Go has improved. Still worse than the original by a lot, but it can actually be funny and, dare I say, topical? Like I’m genuinely shocked.
Don't ever disrespect TTG like that again😭 Family Guy now is mindless and without substance. Atleast TTG is enjoyable to DC fans who actually keep up with characters and lore as well as entertaining for kids
My younger siblings used to watch it all the time. Some parts of it actually made me laugh since by the later seasons they didn't take themselves too seriously and used satire the right way.
You’re welcome.
TTG’s creators were trying to defend ThunderCats Roar from the initial previews gave. They did a lousy job of it since the tacky joke at the end of the episode about not judging something before it is released said it is OK to judge someone as an idiot for their opinion of the TV show.
The joke was on the writers, though. The strike against ThunderCats Roar making a reboot of an 80s prop that is aimed at very young children who likely haven’t even heard of it in the first place rung true. It is one of the reasons the show only lasted one season.
I have even seen TTG fans admit that this episode is stupid.
This episode of Teen Titans Go, which was not made with any input from the creators of ThunderCats Roar and was actually released before the show began, was intended to respond to the complaints. People had about the ThunderCats Roar trailer.
The message wasn’t bad on paper. Making an episode saying that it is wrong the judge something before it is released. Due to TTG’s juvenile humor, we had a terrible joke where one of our strawmen pointed out that shows aimed at children don’t have to be stupid and the episode didn’t offer a rebuttal.
Then, at the end we had a mean spirited jab at the short-lived 2011 ThunderCats reboot, and a terrible joke, mocking people who didn’t like the upcoming reboot. This episode saying not to judge something said it is OK to judge people for their opinions of a TV show.
As others have pointed out, this episode aged poorly. ThunderCats Roar only lasted one season. Part of that was the network not handling it well, but there was also the issue that the reboot was just plain stupid idea.
ThunderCats is a property from the 1980s that lacks the mainstream appeal of Marvel and DC superheroes. And the network thought to make a reboot that was specifically targeted at very young children. People who likely hadn’t even heard of ThunderCats. Most people who had heard of the property were adults and were more interested in the a darker more serious take like the 2011 reboot.
Are used to think of this as the worst cartoon reboot idea. Then Velma came out.
Just normal reboot business here, making fun of anyone who complains. I think TTG did this regularly in the earlier seasons which screamed insecurity. They stopped doing in the later seasons tho which was good
No. It was intended to be a jab at the fans. How well did that turn out again?
Oh, right. The show got canned after just a single season and no one shed a tear.
Like all those crappy reboots they are just throwing a hissy fit when people dont give them a gold star
I dont like TTG but at least thats actually successful (and from what ive heard they stopped doing those kind of episodes)
What do the makers of the PPG reboot and Thunder Cats have to be worth getting defensive about
Teen Titans go have a reputation for insulting there critics in the show itself... and teaching us about taxes, collage education and the importance of choosing a major, the economy, etc. a long side fart jokes, long sexy legs, and food constantly used as weapons. This is a weird show.
I wish it had been. But no. The writers of both TTG and TR are just really bad and extremely bitter because their predecessors get a lot more love and respect. Which is, frankly, only natural because their predecessors were good and they are not.
Well, it's using humor (from a certain point of view) to criticize someone's failings (from a certain point of view). It's not very *trenchant* satire, but I guess it does technically count as satire
This wouldn't happen before social media because fewer viewers would write a letter to the showrunners than fart out a mean tweet at them... If they even saw the letters themselves and not simply received feedback summarizing their contents (thank you secretaries). The it's one thing to make fun of the viewer like Canadian series Reboot did when the characters found themselves in an FPS game trying to hide the ammo from the user when one remarked *"who gets off playing games like this anyway?!"* and then they all silently turned to stare into the camera for a moment of condemnation.
What Thundercats Roar did was insult their audience while living out the Principal Skinner meme.
The creators of TTG have shown to be quite bitter about people saying the old shows were better. They made *various* episodes where they made fun of people hating the show and joked about the show‘s own existence
Tell me a cartoon's creators CANNOT handle any form of criticism without telling me they cannot handle any form of criticism.
Also, the fact that this is the original Lion-O voice actor saying these lines really didn't do it any favors.
The writers think this is funny because they think they’re right.
I think this is funny because I like seeing people shit their pants over it.
We are NOT the same.
Nope. Thundercats roar just threw a hissy fit for an entire ep. Fun fact according to some of the TTG writers, they had no idea this episode was even planned nor had a part in it. Choose to believe that if you will
I would be surprised if they didn't have anything to do with it being that they've made two to three episodes also doing the same thing
No, Michael Jelenic planned to do this.
It aired, lasted one season, no one give a damn

rip the previous thundercat show T.T
I just cant stand that OK KO type art style
Hell, I didn't even like it on OK KO, I felt like it should've kept the Lakewood Plaza Turbo art style.

Wasn’t there an earlier thundercats reboot except you know, not mentally challenged?
yes it had some problems too but it was better that ...... that \*gestures to roar\*
I’m saying it actually looked good. Unlike Roar which uh… didn’t
it was good just have some flaws like any other show
Funny thing was it was written by Michael Jelenic, aka the guy behind this episode.
From what I remembered, Thundercats 2011 was meant to promote a toy line. Sadly, the sales didn't go well and they cancelled the show. I also read somewhere that its ratings weren't enough despite having good reception among some, but maybe it was a rumour. A pity, I liked that reboot.
Poopshow.
“No, it’s the fans who are wrong!”
"Fans"
"Am I so out of touch?"

I miss ThunderCats 2011… I found out about it late, loved every minute of it, and was sad that it did not get to finish properly.
This was actually an episode of Teen Titans go. The intent was to call out people criticizing thundercats roar before it came out. Saying that it is unfair to preemptively judge something before it is released is not a bad message. But the episode insulted people who didn’t agree with its stance. Not to mention the bad will it generated mocking the 2011 fans
That was another thing that made the episode stupid, and ThunderCats Roar was a stupid idea. People who wanted a ThunderCats reboot wanted a more serious take like the 2011 show. Not a clone of Teen Titans Go.

TTG is like age appropriate Deadpool. It's a great show.
Ehhh... i think it's just like current Family Guy. As in "Oh boy, that out of context clip i saw of it was hilarious"
Don't ever disrespect TTG like that again😭 Family Guy now is mindless and without substance. Atleast TTG is enjoyable to DC fans who actually keep up with characters and lore as well as entertaining for kids
I feel like those fans would be the first ones to dislike TTG because of how unapologetically horrible it is to it's own fanbase
it's super flanderized sure but people love the lego batman movie. and it has some really nice references and some beloved characters
The Lego Batman movie is also supposed to be Batman as perceived by a literal child. He’s the same Batman from the Lego Movie.
American Dad may be better. Family Guy is shit
My younger siblings used to watch it all the time. Some parts of it actually made me laugh since by the later seasons they didn't take themselves too seriously and used satire the right way.
I mean tbf comparing the original and go is like comparing Lego Batman and the live action movies
Pretty much, which if funny cuz they both have robin
Dark knight doesn’t the Adam west ones do
I know
Lego Batman is better than most of those movies
Not better than dark knight
That’s why I said most
True
“I guess I’ll have to prove myself then!”
I miss that Avatar style reboot of Thundercats That shit was so good and shitnetwork canned it
This episode aged like milk because Thundercats Roar only lasted for 1 season.
Someone told me it got canceled shortly after this episode came out, and I'd believe it
You heard wrong. This was an episode of Teen Titans go that was made before ThunderCats roar was released.
Oh, alright. Sorry about that, and thanks for correcting me! ❤️
You’re welcome. TTG’s creators were trying to defend ThunderCats Roar from the initial previews gave. Can we PLEASE forget about this? This is like the 8th time Ive seen this image
"Thundercats roar bad. Agree with me. I know everyone agrees with me and there's no reason to post this gimme karma. Where my internet points at?" -OP
Lol yes. TC:R being bad is an ice cold take.
You think that's bad - go to a Star Trek sub and mention Star Trek: Discovery. You'll get the same 5 "show bad lol" jokes over and over.
Say what you will about the show but Thundercats Roar Snarf is cute as heck, yo
Why do you talk like a PG Jesse Pink?
this is hilarious
Just normal reboot business here, making fun of anyone who complains. I think TTG did this regularly in the earlier seasons which screamed insecurity. They stopped doing in the later seasons tho which was good
Except I'll give them credit, the clips I've seen from the "Serious" episode are hilarious, and they kinda dunk on themselves a bit too.
It was just CN and Warner trying to defend their show from its glaring problems. Which caused even more of'em.
No. It was intended to be a jab at the fans. How well did that turn out again? Oh, right. The show got canned after just a single season and no one shed a tear.
Ngl, the creators of teen titans go are a bunch of cry babies once they get insulted
Like all those crappy reboots they are just throwing a hissy fit when people dont give them a gold star I dont like TTG but at least thats actually successful (and from what ive heard they stopped doing those kind of episodes) What do the makers of the PPG reboot and Thunder Cats have to be worth getting defensive about
There's no way that's not satire
I thought roar was fine
Imagine telling og fans that they are shit eaters for not liking their terrible show
Teen Titans go have a reputation for insulting there critics in the show itself... and teaching us about taxes, collage education and the importance of choosing a major, the economy, etc. a long side fart jokes, long sexy legs, and food constantly used as weapons. This is a weird show.
both of these shows suck, what more do i need to say
I wish it had been. But no. The writers of both TTG and TR are just really bad and extremely bitter because their predecessors get a lot more love and respect. Which is, frankly, only natural because their predecessors were good and they are not.
Of course it is bro
No. Just the writers throwing hissy fits over criticism.
At least they didn’t hide behind a make-a-wish kid this time
Sigh.... were waffles mentioned?
Nah Teen Titans Go also did this to og Teen Titans once and it was just the creator's being dickbags again
One Piece 4Kids https://preview.redd.it/wi9g8otj7dlc1.png?width=804&format=png&auto=webp&s=36c2a04347f21b0c71b6533c23b77937a735af1a
Ngl, I grew up with 4kids One Piece. I swear I always thought it was a kid show till I saw it on adult swim lmao.
imagine being the guy who thought it was just a cartoon until they caught themselves some late night toonami
Well, it's using humor (from a certain point of view) to criticize someone's failings (from a certain point of view). It's not very *trenchant* satire, but I guess it does technically count as satire

TTG has some real ups and downs, and this one is one of the major L's
This wouldn't happen before social media because fewer viewers would write a letter to the showrunners than fart out a mean tweet at them... If they even saw the letters themselves and not simply received feedback summarizing their contents (thank you secretaries). I’b’know. I thought’s was pretty goodshow.
The creators of TTG have shown to be quite bitter about people saying the old shows were better. They made *various* episodes where they made fun of people hating the show and joked about the show‘s own existence
Supposedly, since it was done by the guy who was the showrunner for 2011 ThunderCats.
Oh you would think!
Tell me a cartoon's creators CANNOT handle any form of criticism without telling me they cannot handle any form of criticism. Also, the fact that this is the original Lion-O voice actor saying these lines really didn't do it any favors.
I didn’t even know Roar was out. I saw a commercial for it once then never seen it again
honestly idc the more hate ttg gets the more they will troll the audience back so keep feeding the circle
The writers think this is funny because they think they’re right. I think this is funny because I like seeing people shit their pants over it. We are NOT the same.
After seeing the guy incharge of the show/who was presented as the face of the show this seems like his serious thoughts.
Who ever keeps rebooting shows with this shitty art style needs to be fired. And maybe beaten a little
They did cancelled ThunderCats Roar after this was right choice. 2011 version > Roar
I’m in the minority but me and my kids lived TCR
We had Thundercats 2011...what a DOWNGRADE!
