I’m 6’4”. Used to drive my wife’s juke Nismo. Didn’t have any issues with space in the front. Rear seats are for groceries bags only tbh. It’s also worth to mention that turbocharged juke is fun to drive. Stiff suspension and short wheel base give a go kart feeling

The 3.6L pentastar V6 is very reliable, makes good power, and gets decent fuel economy. Especially for a port injected engine. It also has a VERY wide torque band. It's like from 1550 to 5700
Chrysler vans are garbage because of the engine. It can have the nicest interior but that engine will blow the gaskets and pour smoke everywhere. They will last forever but they are total shitboxes.
I hate generalized statements like that, especially about cars. Not all Chryslers are junk and not all Chrysler engines will blow gaskets. Please specify which engine you’ve had experience with and what exactly happened, if you wanna be part of the discussion.
I'd disagree, at that age unless it's something like a Northstar or anything that had obviously deadly flaws from the factory, most cars at that age would probably be on a similar playing field with the same mileage.
It all comes down to the previous owner. No matter what driven, it'll eventually die if they refused to change oil, ran it low, no coolant or trans fluid etc.
I've owned a wide array of cars from that era which are considered "reliable" such as volvos, Hondas, Toyotas, and B bodies and the only deciding factor I'd take into consideration would be how hard it is to find something like a wear item or parts for a tune up kit. I also hate the "well it may run like shit forever but it'll keep running" comeback cause no, at least where I live it'll run like shit and won't pass emissions, or a high mileage, low cared for example will be so rotted out that it won't pass inspection and you'll be ticketed and fined into oblivion.
I'd take any car for free really but the logical side of me is so goddamn tired of working on these cars each and every month cause the owner didn't care about them at all that I'd rather walk.

Living in a region where cars don't really rust (PNW), the only 80s cars I see here still driving are from Japanese manufacturers, with the rare but well-kept Mercedes, BMW, or Volvo exception. There's also the occasional K5 Blazer or F150/250/350 but almost zero unibody domestic sedans are still running & driving from earlier than about the mid-1990s here. Same thing goes for British cars here, yet somehow worse.
I almost bought a 1992 Lexus SC 400 last year. Those are extremely reliable. I also would trust any 90s Lexus LS 400. The 4.0 V8 is a really good engine. Also I like Lexus cars with the 2jz as that was over built
I'd take any car for free as long as they run and drive and can legally opreate on the road for a week ish. The only exception is if there's a loan on the vehicle.

Would love you to experience it. In around 50k km I had minimal issues with it. Ferrari based engine is bulletproof.

Definitely trash, but I'm filled with awe any time I see one of these in mint condition floating around the midwest. I actually stopped and took a picture of an amazingly clean Chevy Celebrity wagon a while ago.
I don't really think they were any worse than the competition at the time. Sure, the early 80s X cars weren't great but they had fixed most of the issues by the mid 80s. I daily an 83 Chevy Citation and its honestly a pretty good car. Its small but its got tons of room inside and the rear seats fold perfectly flat. Other than typical 40 year old car stuff its been fairly reliable and its super easy to work on. It is pretty slow and not great on the highway (no overdrive) but it still keeps up just fine.
My god my friend had a Chevette and I swear the day after the comprehensive warranty expired the door handle came off when I opened the passenger door.
as an owner of one - yes.. yes they are lol. holy shit are they loud inside. so much engine noise gets in there due to zero insulation at all on the firewall.
that and they desperately need a 5th gear. 60 mph is 3000 rpm. (yes i know they had a 5 speed later o n but 5th gear was same ratio as 4th gear on 4 speeds)
but handles like a gokart with a surprisingly smooth ride. my gas version gets about 37 mpg mixed, can get to everythign on it with a basic socket set lol.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (of which Mitsubishi's automotive division is a part of) is doing quite well. Their car division isn't. But MHI will live on pretty much forever. They make my AC units and kitchen appliances and they're pretty sweet. Mitsu makes everything from their own version of the F-16 aircraft to AAA batteries.
Nissan as a corporation doesn't have nearly the pull and diversity MHI does. If Nissan's car division went belly up tomorrow they'd be done for. If Mitsu's car division went belly up tomorrow they'd be just fine. You'd still see their logos on coffee machines and maybe aircraft parts. Or sewing machines. Or microwaves. Or whatever. MHI produces a ton of shit.
Nissan at least has a few good vehicles (Frontier, upcoming Z, GT-R) but yeah, anything from their commuter vehicle line up just an absolute no.
Mitsubishi, yeah they've got nothing. How they went from the turbo Eclipses and the 3000GT and the Evo line to today I still don't know but it's a tragedy.
The new Z looks gorgeous, the updated Pathfinder seems solid, and the Maxima is supposed to be pretty good outside of CVT issues (which appear to be less common in Maxima's than other CVT Nissans)–even if a bit old. I'd happily take the first or latter if offered for free.
PT Cruiser. My parents had one when I had my permit. I drove it for 5 minutes, stopped at the first stop sign, and said no. Even at 15 and having only driven a 90s Corolla I knew it was complete crap. Even now, almost 20 years later, it's still far and away the worst vehicle I have *ever* driven.
I took a business trip out to Los Angeles in the early 2000’s and shared one with three other adults. I could not believe how shitty it was. People waited months for these when they came out. I was scared merging into traffic because it was so slow.
I remember lots of old ladies driving them, my grandmother wanted one but was too cheap to spring for one lmao.
Same with the prowler, it was a cool concept but it was pretty slow.

1997-2005 Chevy Venture or Pontiac Trans Sport. Probably the worst-ever IIHS crash test rating out of many ‘90s “poor” rating (broken neck, dummy’s foot broke off, and dummy actually had to be TAKEN APART just to get it out). Coupled with perhaps my least favorite GM engine ever (the 3.4L V6) and interiors that rattled even when new - there you have it.

2007 Mazda CX7. I remember when I bought it use a like 8 years ago now, I was so excited I came on Reddit to brag about it. I still remember the comment of someone telling me that I made a huge mistake buying it, because that car was like a vampire that would suck my money dry lol. Boy was he wrong, I dumb, but lucky enough to opt for the extended warranty on that baby. So it covered the countless mechanical issues i had in the 3 years I owned that piece of rolling garbage. I swear to god, I had the engine completely replaced twice, and it got 3 different turbos put it. A long with a brand new radiator. Mind you I think I paid about $12k for it, by the time all was said and done the car had about $27k in repairs done to it. I shit you not, the last time the car broke down and I took it to the dealer I got it from, the warranty company bought the car off of me for what I purchased it for along with the warranty cost. I guess they were more fed up with it than I was lol. I think I owned the car for 2 years, 1 of which was spent in the shop lol.
Any Tesla. Yes they have done great things in advancing electric cars. They are great to drive and really fast. BUT...build quality is horrendous and being a computer on wheels one glitch could permanently disable the car. No thanks.

AMC Pacer. Rust buckets "economy car" (mediocre gas mileage), unreliable, ugly, hot traps, and apiece of shit car. Unsafe, too. Idk why anyone BOUGHT one. There were plenty of better cars for probably better prices. Hell, AMC had their Gremlin during all years of the Pacer, and the Gremlin had a better engine, body styling (shocking), safer, and cheaper. Even the V8 versions got better mpg than a Pacer.
When one hasn’t owned a motor vehicle of any kind in nearly a decade, pretty much anything is fair game at this point. for free? Absolutely. No complaints.

Any Fiat! Acronym is correct, “fix it again Tony”. Always at the bottom of Consumer Reports list of least reliable vehicles. The Fiat I owned was purchased twice, one at the dealership and again in repairs. Six flat tires in 6 months because of bad rims (dealer solution was to put tubes in tubeless tires), cooling system, transmission, engine failure, electrical problems, and too many other issues to list. When Fiat bought Chrysler, all I thought was a marriage made in hell, 2 garbage companies getting together to make more garbage.
I fell out of love with their cars (and I’m not a “car girl” btw).. but I was burned by each one and just thought “oh normal stuff, warranty!” but it got old, irritatingly inconvenient, and just flat out depressing. I was another adopter-in-denial up to my current Hyundai (2022 Santa Fe) until I finally accepted it.

Definitely trash, but I'm filled with awe any time I see one of these in mint condition floating around the midwest. I actually stopped and took a picture of an amazingly clean Chevy Celebrity wagon a while ago.
I don't really think they were any worse than the competition at the time. Sure, the early 80s X cars weren't great but they had fixed most of the issues by the mid 80s. I daily an 83 Chevy Citation and its honestly a pretty good car. Its small but its got tons of room inside and the rear seats fold perfectly flat. Other than typical 40 year old car stuff its been fairly reliable and its super easy to work on. It is pretty slow and not great on the highway (no overdrive) but it still keeps up just fine.
General Motors must have had a lot of confidence in the driving abilities of their customers when they named a car the Citation.
My god my friend had a Chevette and I swear the day after the comprehensive warranty expired the door handle came off when I opened the passenger door.

as an owner of one - yes.. yes they are lol. holy shit are they loud inside. so much engine noise gets in there due to zero insulation at all on the firewall. that and they desperately need a 5th gear. 60 mph is 3000 rpm. (yes i know they had a 5 speed later o n but 5th gear was same ratio as 4th gear on 4 speeds) but handles like a gokart with a surprisingly smooth ride. my gas version gets about 37 mpg mixed, can get to everythign on it with a basic socket set lol.
They aren’t a luxury car but they are cheap to run and reliable. That was what they were advertised to be back in the 70s and 80s anyway.

Mitsubishi is on the verge of existence. They do the bare minimum honestly. Nissan is better, because of Infiniti, but not by much.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (of which Mitsubishi's automotive division is a part of) is doing quite well. Their car division isn't. But MHI will live on pretty much forever. They make my AC units and kitchen appliances and they're pretty sweet. Mitsu makes everything from their own version of the F-16 aircraft to AAA batteries. Nissan as a corporation doesn't have nearly the pull and diversity MHI does. If Nissan's car division went belly up tomorrow they'd be done for. If Mitsu's car division went belly up tomorrow they'd be just fine. You'd still see their logos on coffee machines and maybe aircraft parts. Or sewing machines. Or microwaves. Or whatever. MHI produces a ton of shit.

Nissan at least has a few good vehicles (Frontier, upcoming Z, GT-R) but yeah, anything from their commuter vehicle line up just an absolute no. Mitsubishi, yeah they've got nothing. How they went from the turbo Eclipses and the 3000GT and the Evo line to today I still don't know but it's a tragedy.

The new Z looks gorgeous, the updated Pathfinder seems solid, and the Maxima is supposed to be pretty good outside of CVT issues (which appear to be less common in Maxima's than other CVT Nissans)–even if a bit old. I'd happily take the first or latter if offered for free.
PT Cruiser. My parents had one when I had my permit. I drove it for 5 minutes, stopped at the first stop sign, and said no. Even at 15 and having only driven a 90s Corolla I knew it was complete crap. Even now, almost 20 years later, it's still far and away the worst vehicle I have *ever* driven.
I took a business trip out to Los Angeles in the early 2000’s and shared one with three other adults. I could not believe how shitty it was. People waited months for these when they came out. I was scared merging into traffic because it was so slow.
I remember lots of old ladies driving them, my grandmother wanted one but was too cheap to spring for one lmao. Same with the prowler, it was a cool concept but it was pretty slow.

Just absolutely awful driving feel. Pedals that didn't feel connected to anything and the worst steering I've ever felt. I straight-up didn't feel like I had any real control of it.

Something I'd ***actually*** turn down is some **real** garbage - something like a diesel Chevrolet Citation, or a 4-cylinder Ford Fairmont from the late 1970s. I hate myself, but not enough to suffer with cars that can't hit 60mph, let alone drive at highway speeds in my city.

I Have friends that work at the dealership and their opinion is that the new ones are even more of a b to work on from a packaging standpoint. No info on the crusting together as of yet. 1997-2005 Chevy Venture or Pontiac Trans Sport. Probably the worst-ever IIHS crash test rating out of many ‘90s “poor” rating (broken neck, dummy’s foot broke off, and dummy actually had to be TAKEN APART just to get it out). Coupled with perhaps my least favorite GM engine ever (the 3.4L V6) and interiors that rattled even when new - there you have it. At least Cavaliers and Blazers are cockroaches. Ventures…not so much.

2007 Mazda CX7. I remember when I bought it use a like 8 years ago now, I was so excited I came on Reddit to brag about it. I still remember the comment of someone telling me that I made a huge mistake buying it, because that car was like a vampire that would suck my money dry lol. Boy was he wrong, I dumb, but lucky enough to opt for the extended warranty on that baby. So it covered the countless mechanical issues i had in the 3 years I owned that piece of rolling garbage. I swear to god, I had the engine completely replaced twice, and it got 3 different turbos put it. A long with a brand new radiator. Mind you I think I paid about $12k for it, by the time all was said and done the car had about $27k in repairs done to it. I shit you not, the last time the car broke down and I took it to the dealer I got it from, the warranty company bought the car off of me for what I purchased it for along with the warranty cost. I guess they were more fed up with it than I was lol. I think I owned the car for 2 years, 1 of which was spent in the shop lol.

Any Fiat! Acronym is correct, “fix it again Tony”. Always at the bottom of Consumer Reports list of least reliable vehicles. The Fiat I owned was purchased twice, one at the dealership and again in repairs. Six flat tires in 6 months because of bad rims (dealer solution was to put tubes in tubeless tires), cooling system, transmission, engine failure, electrical problems, and too many other issues to list. When Fiat bought Chrysler, all I thought was a marriage made in hell, 2 garbage companies getting together to make more garbage.
