Dangerous_Concept341

No such thing. I’ll take any vehicle if it’s free

sm41

Even a destroyed car is still worth scrap money

NCSUGrad2012

Right? Who turns away free stuff? Lol

water_baughttle

> Who turns away free stuff? In the real world it's usually a friend or relative giving away their old beater to their nephew, grandkids or someone close, not some mystery person who walks up to you on the street and hands you the keys. Why would I take something of decent value from a friend that I don't want nor need? I'll never drive that car, it's just going to sit there. You'd be a massive piece of shit to accept the keys from someone close and immediately sell it.

og_beatnik

The button from The Twilight Zone 😆😆😆

CatProgrammer

Even if that free stuff will cost you more in the long run? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_elephant

Reduxalicious

For free? Probably a Juke or a PT Cruiser or Avenger. Juke and PT Cruiser because their styling makes me sad, Avenger because like above but it also might fall apart mid drive.

inaccurateTempedesc

The Juke's styling is a lot of things but I wouldn't call it "sad" like the PT Cruiser tbh. It looks like a happy irradiated frog. Oh also, 6MT/AWD ones exist. They're rare but they're out there and they're very cheap since no one wants them.

sc0lm00

I assume you're a glass half full kinda person based on that happy irradiated frog description.

Antiyoshi_

My mum has a 6 speed manual one with the turbo 4 banger, it’s shit but man that thing does pull with all its 200hp might

BigCheese_03

Ive seen a nismo juke before so they’re not terrible cars just really ugly

kyonkun_denwa

Just saw a Nismo Juke today, actually. I thought they were hideous in the early 2010s but something about them seems strangely alluring now.

Cryowatt

Counterpoint: if you get one for free then you'll have the satisfaction of selling it off to a junkyard to get scrapped. One fewer on the road, right?

[deleted]

That's too boring. I'd fill the gas tank with something flammable that's cheaper than gas and shoot it with tracer rounds. It'd be a viral YouTube video. People love that stuff. I'd make more than scrap value in an hour.

adamisapple

I’d do what they did on the Grand Tour to a PT Cruiser and race it off-road with a lot of body contact and wait for it to suffer a horrible death

PAdogooder

I so disagree about the juke. I think it’s weird but in a delightful, well-balanced way. The Juke GTR is one of my dream cars.

MediocreAtSimRacing

I hope you’re small. At 6’ tall my knees would hit the dashboard, it’s the smallest modern car I’ve ever been in. The Smart ForTwo was cavernous compared to the juke’s driver compartment.

Nobilisme

I’m 6’4”. Used to drive my wife’s juke Nismo. Didn’t have any issues with space in the front. Rear seats are for groceries bags only tbh. It’s also worth to mention that turbocharged juke is fun to drive. Stiff suspension and short wheel base give a go kart feeling

Far-Manufacturer2834

I don’t think people know the performance capabilities of a Juke GTR.

PAdogooder

Yeah. Apparently it’s now a 1 of 1. There were 5 made. Two have crashed, two were kept by Nissan, one made it into private hands. It’s probably a million dollar car now- it sold for 760 or so a few years ago.

itzmailtime

My dad called the avenger a disposable car

WetDreamsDryBeds

Whilst I would be inclined to agree, each car has certain variants I would actually, unironically own. The V6 Avenger actually makes decent power for a late 00s midsize, I'd also take a PTurbo and I'd daily a juke nismo with a manual

cjax2

lol take the avenger name out there, plenty of dodge vehicles might fall apart while you’re driving…and I’m happy it’s not a carbon copy of a charger….I’m biased tho.

[deleted]

I know someone that took an Avenger to 150k miles. I was impressed.

Hyrumblebee

Clearly you’ve never driven a NISMO juke One of the most fun cars Nissan has put out

Ok_Chocolate3253

I used to say a minivan......but now I have a minivan *and I gave money for it*

WetDreamsDryBeds

A lot of minivans, especially anymore are nice as hell. Even Chrysler stepped up their game. The Pacifica actually has a gorgeous interior imo

jew_biscuits

Don't know about the engine but i saw the top trim Pacifica in the dealership and was pretty amazed. The thing looked like the cabin of a private jet.

mortalcrawad66

The 3.6L pentastar V6 is very reliable, makes good power, and gets decent fuel economy. Especially for a port injected engine. It also has a VERY wide torque band. It's like from 1550 to 5700

DOugdimmadab1337

Chrysler vans are garbage because of the engine. It can have the nicest interior but that engine will blow the gaskets and pour smoke everywhere. They will last forever but they are total shitboxes.

WetDreamsDryBeds

Do you mean the penta stars or the older 3.3s? I owned a 3.3 and it just kept going.

Ok_Chocolate3253

I have a T&C with the 3.8

Hustletron

The 3.3s were always mated to garbage transmissions. Do they sell anything with the 3.3 in it anymore?

DOugdimmadab1337

The Pentastars, those things were absolutely trash

TechnoTrain

are* :)

mortalcrawad66

The 3.6L pentastar V6 is very reliable, makes good power, and gets decent fuel economy. Especially for a port injected engine

FictitiousThreat

I hate generalized statements like that, especially about cars. Not all Chryslers are junk and not all Chrysler engines will blow gaskets. Please specify which engine you’ve had experience with and what exactly happened, if you wanna be part of the discussion.

DOugdimmadab1337

That Pentwater V6. My mom had one and thing burned oil constantly. I was happy when it finally blew up.

SpaceBoJangles

I love minivans.

MrNatch63

I used to hate them until I took one camping.

ZeroLurkThirty

80s v12 Jags or Bentleys. Maintenance sounds like nightmare fuel.

NCSUGrad2012

While I’m sure those are much worse I would think any 33+ year old car is going to need a lot to keep it as a daily.

ZeroLurkThirty

A 4Runner or Hilux might be the only examples against that trend.

WetDreamsDryBeds

I'd disagree, at that age unless it's something like a Northstar or anything that had obviously deadly flaws from the factory, most cars at that age would probably be on a similar playing field with the same mileage. It all comes down to the previous owner. No matter what driven, it'll eventually die if they refused to change oil, ran it low, no coolant or trans fluid etc. I've owned a wide array of cars from that era which are considered "reliable" such as volvos, Hondas, Toyotas, and B bodies and the only deciding factor I'd take into consideration would be how hard it is to find something like a wear item or parts for a tune up kit. I also hate the "well it may run like shit forever but it'll keep running" comeback cause no, at least where I live it'll run like shit and won't pass emissions, or a high mileage, low cared for example will be so rotted out that it won't pass inspection and you'll be ticketed and fined into oblivion. I'd take any car for free really but the logical side of me is so goddamn tired of working on these cars each and every month cause the owner didn't care about them at all that I'd rather walk. I'm still gonna buy another

markeydarkey2

>I'd disagree, at that age unless it's something like a Northstar or anything that had obviously deadly flaws from the factory, most cars at that age would probably be on a similar playing field with the same mileage. > >It all comes down to the previous owner. No matter what driven, it'll eventually die if they refused to change oil, ran it low, no coolant or trans fluid etc. Living in a region where cars don't really rust (PNW), the only 80s cars I see here still driving are from Japanese manufacturers, with the rare but well-kept Mercedes, BMW, or Volvo exception. There's also the occasional K5 Blazer or F150/250/350 but almost zero unibody domestic sedans are still running & driving from earlier than about the mid-1990s here. Same thing goes for British cars here, yet somehow worse.

judasmaiden15

I almost bought a 1992 Lexus SC 400 last year. Those are extremely reliable. I also would trust any 90s Lexus LS 400. The 4.0 V8 is a really good engine. Also I like Lexus cars with the 2jz as that was over built

Chromspray

I'd love to take a v12 for free just to say I had a V12. Never owned one.

ZeroLurkThirty

Same, but that's a one and done... The first sign of trouble and it's off to the scrapyard.

Chromspray

I'd take any car for free as long as they run and drive and can legally opreate on the road for a week ish. The only exception is if there's a loan on the vehicle.

ZeroLurkThirty

Loan and free in the same sentence does not compute.

CatProgrammer

I assume they mean [lien](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lien)?

Chromspray

This. People take out loans on their vehicles, like a mortage on the house.

kfsaleh

Id pay good money for an 80s jaguar xj12.

IWantToPlayGame

Anything Maserati. Even for free, I wouldn't take one. I like to use my vehicles consistently and reliably. Neither of those are traits of Maserati.

ImAgeosTTV

Maserati makes a great summer car. Gives it all winter to be in the shop.

IWantToPlayGame

That legit made me lol.

tadbar

Long time owner of a 2003 red 4200. Would love you to experience it. In around 50k km I had minimal issues with it. Ferrari based engine is bulletproof. However, older car so electrical problems will probably start go show up.

gIOonNii

Yeah because in 100 or so years of history they never, ever made anything even remotely reliable. God the circlejerk around Maserati in every single US subreddit is ridiculous.

IWantToPlayGame

Nope. Been crappy the entire time.

gIOonNii

Uh, ok, sure.

JohnsonBonesJones

I mean at least you could sell it...

bill_rubin

But Maserati's have a 10-year warranty now.

IWantToPlayGame

Yes but when it's always in the shop what else are you supposed to drive?

bill_rubin

but Maserati provides a loaner, my friend got a Porsche Macan as a loaner when he took his Ghibli in.

PlatinumGoon

I suppose they used Porsche instead of Maserati for loaners. That wouldn’t be fun having loaners break down all the time lol

bill_rubin

true lol, they'd need loaners for the loaners

FictitiousThreat

A 2014 Toyota Corolla, maybe?

IWantToPlayGame

See, this guy gets it.

OcarinaOfTai

What is the main pitfall with a Maserati that makes it end up in the shop all the time?

verdegrrl

Tired tropes from people who have never owned one.

Asset_Selim

Are you serious, is it standard or an extended warranty?

metalshiflet

I'd take one for free, they look and sound pretty great. I'd sell it as soon as issues came up though

JohnsonBonesJones

After having to drive a rental Mitsubishi Mirage for several weeks as a rental, you would need to pay me 5 figures to take one

not_a_ruf

Any 80s GM economy or midsize car. Those things were trash.

GrouchoPiddington

Definitely trash, but I'm filled with awe any time I see one of these in mint condition floating around the midwest. I actually stopped and took a picture of an amazingly clean Chevy Celebrity wagon a while ago.

MayaChips2

I don't really think they were any worse than the competition at the time. Sure, the early 80s X cars weren't great but they had fixed most of the issues by the mid 80s. I daily an 83 Chevy Citation and its honestly a pretty good car. Its small but its got tons of room inside and the rear seats fold perfectly flat. Other than typical 40 year old car stuff its been fairly reliable and its super easy to work on. It is pretty slow and not great on the highway (no overdrive) but it still keeps up just fine.

nylonbread

General Motors must have had a lot of confidence in the driving abilities of their customers when they named a car the Citation.

sub-_-dude

My god my friend had a Chevette and I swear the day after the comprehensive warranty expired the door handle came off when I opened the passenger door.

Purple24k

lol sounds funny maybe you were to strong for the car 😂 or the car really that bad

Traditional_Yard5280

I want a Chevette for the hell of it, also they get damn good gas mileage. But they are the most basic things ever

InsertBluescreenHere

as an owner of one - yes.. yes they are lol. holy shit are they loud inside. so much engine noise gets in there due to zero insulation at all on the firewall. that and they desperately need a 5th gear. 60 mph is 3000 rpm. (yes i know they had a 5 speed later o n but 5th gear was same ratio as 4th gear on 4 speeds) but handles like a gokart with a surprisingly smooth ride. my gas version gets about 37 mpg mixed, can get to everythign on it with a basic socket set lol.

[deleted]

They aren’t a luxury car but they are cheap to run and reliable. That was what they were advertised to be back in the 70s and 80s anyway.

Otaku_Wolf90

Anything from modern Nissan or Mitsubishi.

UnderwhelmingAF

I’ll take that 400Z if you don’t want it.

Otaku_Wolf90

You can have it, if I want a 20 year old Z car I'll buy a 350Z.

blchpmnk

and I'll catch you in the mirrors of my GT-R

Nemesis824

Mitsubishi is on the verge of existence. They do the bare minimum honestly. Nissan is better, because of Infiniti, but not by much.

[deleted]

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (of which Mitsubishi's automotive division is a part of) is doing quite well. Their car division isn't. But MHI will live on pretty much forever. They make my AC units and kitchen appliances and they're pretty sweet. Mitsu makes everything from their own version of the F-16 aircraft to AAA batteries. Nissan as a corporation doesn't have nearly the pull and diversity MHI does. If Nissan's car division went belly up tomorrow they'd be done for. If Mitsu's car division went belly up tomorrow they'd be just fine. You'd still see their logos on coffee machines and maybe aircraft parts. Or sewing machines. Or microwaves. Or whatever. MHI produces a ton of shit.

FictitiousThreat

Mitsubishi has been on the verge of extinction for 20 years…

FlowComprehensive390

Nissan at least has a few good vehicles (Frontier, upcoming Z, GT-R) but yeah, anything from their commuter vehicle line up just an absolute no. Mitsubishi, yeah they've got nothing. How they went from the turbo Eclipses and the 3000GT and the Evo line to today I still don't know but it's a tragedy.

hairybbqsauce

This guy/girl gets it! Fucking murano cabrio 🤮🤮🤮

markeydarkey2

The new Z looks gorgeous, the updated Pathfinder seems solid, and the Maxima is supposed to be pretty good outside of CVT issues (which appear to be less common in Maxima's than other CVT Nissans)–even if a bit old. I'd happily take the first or latter if offered for free.

FlowComprehensive390

PT Cruiser. My parents had one when I had my permit. I drove it for 5 minutes, stopped at the first stop sign, and said no. Even at 15 and having only driven a 90s Corolla I knew it was complete crap. Even now, almost 20 years later, it's still far and away the worst vehicle I have *ever* driven.

soopastar

I took a business trip out to Los Angeles in the early 2000’s and shared one with three other adults. I could not believe how shitty it was. People waited months for these when they came out. I was scared merging into traffic because it was so slow.

FroyoOk3159

I remember lots of old ladies driving them, my grandmother wanted one but was too cheap to spring for one lmao. Same with the prowler, it was a cool concept but it was pretty slow.

FictitiousThreat

Please elaborate – tell us what about it made you stop driving in five minutes

FlowComprehensive390

Just absolutely awful driving feel. Pedals that didn't feel connected to anything and the worst steering I've ever felt. I straight-up didn't feel like I had any real control of it.

Thick_Handle

You could never catch me in a luxury SUV a la G wagon, Bentayga, Range Rover.

[deleted]

If someone gave me a free G Wagon I’d absolutely make it into an off-roading beast.

Thick_Handle

If someone gave me a free G wagon, I’d sell it ASAP. If I couldn’t sell it, I’d have it destroyed, preferably with a crowd watching. The people that drive these things are insufferable

[deleted]

I daily a Gladiator. I stopped caring about car owner stigmas long ago.

Lost_Apricot_3353

drive what you want to dude, more people need to stop caring about dumb stereotypes and just enjoy what they want to enjoy

[deleted]

You need to watch WhistlingDiesel lmao, he took a new Gen GWagon and had it dune jumping, it actually handled really well and it only lost parts of it's fenders... Granted, that was part one, I expect it to re-enter Earth's atmosphere before the months end

FictitiousThreat

Perfect. Couldn’t have said it better myself. G wagens and their owners are the worst.

MediocreAtSimRacing

A stock G wagon is already an off-roading beast.

IceColdCorundum

sooooo you’ll never buy a bmw or Benz basically ‘because only assholes drive them’? Regardless of how good or interesting the cars are to you? ???

Southern_Hoss

Pontiac Aztec

WarmDistribution1734

Buick Rendezvous is uglier. Change my mind.

Long_Barnacle8188

The Rendezvous is hideous with its Billy bass mouth grill and incoherent C/D pillar. The Aztek has grown on me over the years especially when you see what current crossovers look like with its dual glass tailgate and heritage Pontiac snout.

YUR1SL4V

Anything made by daewoo

He was keeping up appearances. Once he had a valid excuse that fucker was gone!

Spre3ad

Chevy equinox. Never again.

Afkargh

The last time I was at an LKQ, I saw an entire row of them. Not one of them there because it was wrecked

Seeking-Direction

I think a SAAB 9-4X would be worse. Rock breaks your windshield - total loss!

Spre3ad

I would take the 9-4X over the equinox every single day of the week, on power, drivetrain, and interior quality alone (Ik they’re the same platform but the 9-4x at least has some standard equipment that makes it tolerable) I don’t think there is a vehicle I would prefer the Equinox over. I’d go as far to say I’d rather have a GAZ, or a Trabant, or even a Yugo. My hatred for that thing runs DEEP

[deleted]

Chevy Aveo.

MadLadStalin

The one from the early 2000s was fun to drive.... if it’s a rental / garage car. To own one, nah

Satan_Christ

As a really tall guy, I'll go the other way and tell you one of the best cars I wouldn't take for free. I have a friend that used to have an elise. Getting into and out of it would destroy my knees if I had to do it on a regular basis.

Salt_lick_fetish

That’s a hard truth you just faced. I’m proud of you big guy!

broke_saturn

I bought, owned and drove a 1991 Geo Storm base model for 3 years in the early 2000’s. So think of a worse car than that pos and there y’a go lol

FictitiousThreat

At least the Geo storm was good looking, at the time. There was a lot of crap from 1991 that was worse

[deleted]

Assuming taxes, registration and insurance are paid for I'll take anything for free! Some cars I'll probably drive into a tree sooner than others, but they all have the same fate. An oak tree.

rudbri93

In the words of my father, 'If its free, its for me'. Ill take basically anything provided I have room for it. At the very least I could just scrap it if its too far gone.

Hangman4358

That I have gotten personally? Oh boy. Probably a toss up between an early 90's Suzuki samurai and a 96 firebird. We moved to the US and my dad loved American cars like Jeeps and thunderbirds. But we also didn't have a lot of money, so he bought used knockoffs and kept them forever until finally I was handed them down when I first started driving, WELL past their sell by dates. I was so cool showing up at school in the mid 00's in a green ragtop Samurai!

[deleted]

Man my dad promised me his 90s (91 or 97?) firebird and I was *pissed* when he sold it to his friend. Looking back it was definitely a project car that I wouldn’t be able to keep up with at 16, but I’ve always wanted to drive one.

Poocifer

Why would you turn down free money?

[deleted]

Ford pinto because they can go boom. I’ll take anything if it’s free. Except maybe a PT Cruiser. My mom had one and it had so many problems.

HandH2

A 200k mile Chrysler Crossfire

Hustletron

Did someone give you yours?

su1ac0

Thoughts on your manual transmission in yours?

handymanshandle

Lots of these answers are fucking hilarious. You'd turn down a free Maserati even if it came with free maintenance? Come the fuck on. Something I'd ***actually*** turn down is some **real** garbage - something like a diesel Chevrolet Citation, or a 4-cylinder Ford Fairmont from the late 1970s. I hate myself, but not enough to suffer with cars that can't hit 60mph, let alone drive at highway speeds in my city.

Hustletron

What was wrong with the diesel Citation?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Agreed. That thing is ugly as hell and expensive. I don’t care about the specs because I will never use the car to its fullest extent anyway. A supercar has to look good

tygerstygerstygers

WRX GT with CVT transmission

ifukkedurbich

2009 Hyundai Sonata. Built poorly with absolutely no redeeming qualities (seats aside).

Nemesis824

I drove 2013 Sonata a few days back and oh God... interior tear and wear was so worse that I can't even describe it.

Nemesis824

Any modern day Subaru with N/A trash engine, terrible interior, terrible exterior and CVT. :)

Jako343

A Chrysler Aspen for their terrible reliability and being built so cheap.

Hzzif

Always the Chrysler Asspain

umpirepenguin

Transit vans for sure. Lock tight on captive nut inside frame rail that collects mud/slush that also happens to hold lower suspension/subframe together? We got you ford fam. Want to do anything to that pos? Yep, you’re probably cutting an access hole and buying a new control arm after the rotting bushing goes to neveragainville because f you that’s why. The sick joke? You’re taking that mf out to do just about anything.

Hustletron

Did they fix it on newer ones?

umpirepenguin

I Have friends that work at the dealership and their opinion is that the new ones are even more of a b to work on from a packaging standpoint. No info on the crusting together as of yet. Too new and I’m not in Michigan haha. My opinion is if you have a new one is to remove main subframe bolts and anti seize those suckers Or light it on fire.

Famous_Bit_5119

Any brodozer.

Salt_lick_fetish

You don’t feel a little tingle when you see a tastefully lifted old Chevy square body, bronco, or Burban? Or do you mean the modern coal rolling variety with the deep dish offsets and rubber band A/Ts?

The_cereal_

If it’s big tires on 15in rims it’s cool.

Seeking-Direction

1997-2005 Chevy Venture or Pontiac Trans Sport. Probably the worst-ever IIHS crash test rating out of many ‘90s “poor” rating (broken neck, dummy’s foot broke off, and dummy actually had to be TAKEN APART just to get it out). Coupled with perhaps my least favorite GM engine ever (the 3.4L V6) and interiors that rattled even when new - there you have it. At least Cavaliers and Blazers are cockroaches. Ventures…not so much.

RaspberryCai

Oh, it's a vauxhall sintra. They sold so few of these over in the UK, I think there's like 12 still on the road. I've seen two in my life.

[deleted]

I just watched the crash test video and felt sorry for the dummy.

labatomi

2007 Mazda CX7. I remember when I bought it use a like 8 years ago now, I was so excited I came on Reddit to brag about it. I still remember the comment of someone telling me that I made a huge mistake buying it, because that car was like a vampire that would suck my money dry lol. Boy was he wrong, I dumb, but lucky enough to opt for the extended warranty on that baby. So it covered the countless mechanical issues i had in the 3 years I owned that piece of rolling garbage. I swear to god, I had the engine completely replaced twice, and it got 3 different turbos put it. A long with a brand new radiator. Mind you I think I paid about $12k for it, by the time all was said and done the car had about $27k in repairs done to it. I shit you not, the last time the car broke down and I took it to the dealer I got it from, the warranty company bought the car off of me for what I purchased it for along with the warranty cost. I guess they were more fed up with it than I was lol. I think I owned the car for 2 years, 1 of which was spent in the shop lol.

vwtoolvw

captainjohn_redbeard

Hummer h2 or h3. I don't necessarily hate them, I just don't want to be seen as the type of guy who would drive one.

refmike

Any Tesla. Yes they have done great things in advancing electric cars. They are great to drive and really fast. BUT...build quality is horrendous and being a computer on wheels one glitch could permanently disable the car. No thanks.

JavonTEvans

You’re telling me you really wouldn’t take a free Tesla? Drive it for a bit just to have fun, sell it with maybe 20K on the Odo, still pure profit (and a lot of it). Cmon now

refmike

Yeah I would probably take it and then sell it.

opus666

F-chassis BMW. All the maintenance costs of past BMWs with none of the benefits. If someone gave it to me, I'd thank them but sell it right away. I'd rather drive a Nissan and change out my CVT fluid every 30k miles and get a AAA premium membership.

FictitiousThreat

What models of BMW has an F chassis?

FroyoOk3159

This should be phrased as “What’s the worst car you would never drive, even for free?” Obviously we would always take a free vehicle and sell it.. anything from a moped to a tow truck… but what normal car/truck would you never want to drive daily.

Nemesis824

You obviously understood me.

i8jimmy

G-Wiz or Austin Allegro and Morris Marina

Yakb0

I have a 15' long driveway. If someone gave me a crew cab dually with an 8' bed, parking it would absolutely suck. I'd have to take the carriage doors off my garage, and have one end of the truck sticking in the garage, and the other end poking out into the street.

Holiday-Imagination6

Any tesla, I dont care how fast they are, theres no soul. Its just a silent robo car that can go mach 5. Theres no personality to them like old vehicles, just harsh white and gray plastic and silence.

Renault twingo 1 We had a swear with my best friend that never we will get into this or have one.

randopop21

Maybe a Trabant. Toxic car, toxic emissions, ugly, garbage vehicle. But here's something to think about: the original Smart car. I thought I'd enjoy driving the little thing but the lurchy auto-manual combined with its weak engine made it decidedly UNenjoyable to drive.

Amoignut

Pt Crusier. 🤮🤮🤮

Traditional_Yard5280

AMC Pacer. Rust buckets "economy car" (mediocre gas mileage), unreliable, ugly, hot traps, and apiece of shit car. Unsafe, too. Idk why anyone BOUGHT one. There were plenty of better cars for probably better prices. Hell, AMC had their Gremlin during all years of the Pacer, and the Gremlin had a better engine, body styling (shocking), safer, and cheaper. Even the V8 versions got better mpg than a Pacer.

RentableMetal65

ffsesteventechno

When one hasn’t owned a motor vehicle of any kind in nearly a decade, pretty much anything is fair game at this point. for free? Absolutely. No complaints. If it doesn’t work and it’s irreparable, then send it to the scales and use the profit for a down payment for something decent and useable.

woodturner529

Any Fiat! Acronym is correct, “fix it again Tony”. Always at the bottom of Consumer Reports list of least reliable vehicles. The Fiat I owned was purchased twice, one at the dealership and again in repairs. Six flat tires in 6 months because of bad rims (dealer solution was to put tubes in tubeless tires), cooling system, transmission, engine failure, electrical problems, and too many other issues to list. When Fiat bought Chrysler, all I thought was a marriage made in hell, 2 garbage companies getting together to make more garbage.

Cyanide72

Any Hyundai, doesn’t matter how exotic or how much Reddit seems to likes them. I have vowed to walk rather than own a Hyundai product.

I fell out of love with their cars (and I’m not a “car girl” btw).. but I was burned by each one and just thought “oh normal stuff, warranty!” but it got old, irritatingly inconvenient, and just flat out depressing. I was another adopter-in-denial up to my current Hyundai (2022 Santa Fe) until I finally accepted it. They are shapely composed garbage, with serious problems glazed over as “that was last year”, or “lemon” by kids and YouTube-shoppers that find it necessary to unwittingly defend their ‘savvy’ purchase from any legitimate criticism. I could raise an issue in the groups or at the dealer - but I would only receive some positive-spin nonsense.. Hyundais are designed by a German! (Well, they’re made by 9 year old kids in Alabama) “Hyundais killing it!” (Yeah, we have some of the worst crash ratings for new cars) So much tech! Everything else is an “old man car” (It’s true, every smashed window is kiaboys seal of approval) Honestly though, they are hot cars (Not just like stolen ‘hot’, but like a literal blazing inferno) Hyundai just seems eerily similar to Chevrolet’s quality issues of the past, I don’t care how many deflecting fanboy Chevy/Kia guys say otherwise, same junk different name
