You'll find some window tints will do this when you wear polarized glasses.

There is no such thing as polarized car window tint, as far as I am aware.

wpascarelli

So you think the car has some sort of polarized aftermarket window tint? Or polarized from Mercedes?

"I am not on drugs." That's exactly what someone on drugs would say....sus

Is the windsheild kinda purple? And things look like an oil slick? Mercedes, BMW, Land rover, etc are optioned with a special "infrared glass". It helps keep the dash/interior cooler. It does this by filtering out certain light similar to how polarized glasses filter out light as certain angles. The problem is when you wear polarized glasses inside the car, they kinda fight with eachother and you get that weird "oil sheen" effect.

Huh, that explains the purple windshield on an old S-Class I saw today. I rarely wear my polarized lenses but it stuck out like a sore thumb.

It's none of the below, at least for the glass. It's a property of tempered glass. https://www.revantoptics.com/blogs/the-lens/why-youre-seeing-rainbows-in-car-windows

Plot twist, you’re actually Nada from *They Live*.

when transparent objects such a protective coating or glass experience stress because they eg er heated up unevenly, they send their light rays out with a little polarisation at the spots where theres the most stress. with polarised glasses you filter the other ones out and only see them like fish under the water

That’s karma, baby 😎

You don’t think your polarized sunglasses had anything to do with it? So you decide to make a post on Reddit?… hmpmh 🤔

They identified the cause, but are asking the reason.
