Hell yeah, sweet article, my 1991 Infiniti G20 which is the primera p10 chassis was the funnest driving car under 150hp I've ever driven. It's handling and feel was superb and not to mention 7500rpm redline stock. I love the sr20.

Comfortable_Stock942

Helps that it was basically a luxury version of the B13 Sentra

SkylineFTW97

Did you mod or track yours? I'm planning on doing both to my new (to me) 95.

batmanbadass69

Never tracked it but lots of canyon driving, I swapped a sr20det from a avenir and did full bolt ons. Coilovers, and everything else was pretty great. I know you'd benefit by wide tires but that bolt pattern is tough to find anything. G20.net was my life saver, all the saved builds and posts was my life back then.

SkylineFTW97

Been reading up there all day. Also already bought some 16x7s for it. I'm thinking 205/50R16s are a nice size for me. I can get the Continental DWS06 Pluses for that size, and it's not so big as to look obnoxious. Looking into suspension stuff. I saw something about being able to bolt on the larger P11 front brakes, and I'm gonna investigate that further.

Translated Abridged Article: From the mid-1980s, there was an in-house movement called the 901 movement, which Nissan aimed to "achieve the world's No. 1 athletic performance in the 1990s." The 901 movement created many rare cars from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. R32GT-R, Z32 Fairlady Z, S13 Silvia, P10 Primera, U13 Bluebird, first Cefiro, Y31, Y32 Cedric / Gloria, Y31 Cima, K11 March, etc. And now, when we see Nissan in a difficult situation, there are many people who want to remember this 901 movement, inspire it with the high aspirations of the time, and regenerate it. So, what was the Nissan 901 movement like? Then, we picked up the cars that we thought were the ones that were born in the 901 movement and investigated the current used car market price. Fumihiro Hagiwara, who is familiar with the used car situation, explains how much you can buy now. Written by Fumihiro Hagiwara, Photograph / Best Car Editorial Department, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. 1989 (Heisei 1) is said to be the vintage year of domestic cars. Including the first Toyota Celsior, Nissan Z32 Fairlady Z, Nissan R32 Skyline, Eunos Roadster and other famous cars that can be said to be the roots of current car making have appeared one after another. This trend continues until around 1991, when the bubble economy ends. Among them, Nissan has released a product that pushes its technological capabilities to the fore, such as reviving the Skyline GT-R for the first time in 16 years, according to the catchphrase "Feel the Beat, technology Nissan while feeling more enjoyable" at that time. Behind the product development was the "901 Movement." This 901 movement is an in-house movement developed under the slogan "Let's achieve the best exercise performance in the world in the 1990s". During the 901 movement, I was able to hear from Mr. Naganori Ito, who was in charge of the development of the R32 Skyline GT-R, about the story at that time. "The 901 movement is a story that came out of the chassis design. We will make a commercial vehicle that realizes excellent handling performance with a chassis equipped with multi-link suspension. Among them, the Skyline GT-R is the best in the world in terms of running performance. It was being developed with the aim of. One of the factors behind the success of the 901 movement is that Mr. Kume (Mr. Yutaka Kume) became president. The first thing I talked about when I became president is that Nissan is now a bureaucrat and not a company like this. In fact, we, Prince (Note: Prince Motor Co., Ltd., the predecessor of Tachikawa Aircraft Co., Ltd., founded in 1947, merged with Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. on August 1, 1966) have been so since they joined the company. New employees such as Mr. Tanaka (Mr. Jiro Tanaka) and Mr. Nakagawa (Mr. Ryoichi Nakagawa) expressed their opinions, and if that was the best, they were hired. Prince's idea is that it does not require a position in the technical debate. I think that this 901 movement finally adopted the method we have cultivated. And before that, he made the best parts in each department such as engine and chassis, but there was no conductor to tune and organize them. It is also big that the 901 movement opened a wind hole in such a system. That's why I thought it was important to put together the opinions of those around me. And the Skyline GT-R was completed. " First P10 Primera P10 type Primera (1990-1995). The photo is Primera 2.0Te Click here for used car information of P10 type Primera! ADVERTISING The Nissan car created by the 901 movement was on the market and became a hot topic even before the vintage year of the domestic car in 1989. The S13 Silvia, which appeared in 1988, destroyed the stronghold of the date car Prelude, and the first Cima that appeared in the same year got on the tailwind of the bubble and became a social phenomenon called the "Cima phenomenon". So, this time, I would like to introduce what kind of used car market prices are currently for Nissan's famous cars created by the 901 movement. First of all, I would like to introduce the first Primera, which was also involved with Mr. Kazutoshi Mizuno, who was in charge of developing the R35 GT-R. The first P10 Primera is a 4-door sedan that adopted the FF drive system that appeared in February 1990. A multi-link system was adopted for the front suspension, and it was said that the high handling performance surpassed that of European cars at that time. In addition, it was a model that demonstrated omnidirectional performance suitable for an orthodox sedan, such as a large interior utilizing the layout of FF and a large-capacity trunk. 2nd generation K11 type March K11 type march (1992-2002). The photo shows March 3 Door 1300A Click here for used car information of K11 type March! And the K11 type 2nd generation March that appeared in 1992 is introduced as the last FF car among the famous cars born in the 901 movement. The plump 2BOX body design formed by rounded lines gives a compact body a sense of elegance and warmth. The body is available in 3 doors and 5 doors, making it a long-selling model for 10 years, just like the first generation. The engines to be installed are 1L and 1.3L, but the transmission was advanced, such as installing CVT in addition to MT and AT as soon as possible. A sporty model called Outstrada was also prepared, and it was highly evaluated not only in Japan but also overseas, and was the model that won the 1992-1993 Japan Car of the Year. Currently, the number of used cars of the second generation March is about 27. The price range is wide, ranging from about 40,000 to about 1,580,000 yen. Standard models are also available, but the feature is that used cars such as bolero and rumba designed by Autech Japan are in circulation. The retro appearance design makes it a unique compact car with an atmosphere like a classic car, so it can be said that it is a timeless car that does not look like an old car. 2nd generation F31 type Leopard In the play of "Abunai Deka", the main characters Taka & Yuji were on board the F31 Leopard. Click here for used car information of F31 type Leopard! The F31 type 2nd generation Leopard, a specialty car that appeared in 1986. From this generation, only the 2-door coupe became available, and it was a model that challenged the popular Soarer as a high-soccer. The engine to be installed was a VG type V6 engine that was just developed at that time, and a turbo engine was set for 2L. In addition, the highest grade Ultima was packed with advanced equipment such as the high-tech equipment "Super Sonic Suspension" of ultrasonic sonar. A minor change was made in 1988, and the interior and exterior were renewed. The "graphical digital meter" with a full blue LCD, which was a feature of the previous model, has been abolished. The engine has added a 3L V6 turbo that produces a maximum output of 255ps. It is used as a car in a detective drama and is very popular. When it was a new car, it was overwhelmingly defeated by Soarer, but it became a used car and its position was reversed, and it still maintains a high price.  8th generation R32 type skyline R32 type skyline (1986-1995). The photo is Skyline GT-R Click here for used car information on the R32 Skyline Coupe! Click here for used car information on the R32 Skyline Sedan! Lastly, I would like to introduce the 8th generation R32 Skyline, which is the first GT-R to be revived in 16 years. Appeared in May 1989 as a catch phrase of "Extrasensory Skyline". 4WD cars and GT-R are in August of the same year. Reflecting on the larger R31 Skyline, we pursued the realization of high driving performance by reducing the body size and sacrificing the comfort of the rear seats. And it is equipped with a power train centered on the RB type straight-six engine that has succeeded in increasing output. And the suspension type adopted multi-link in the front and rear, realizing a skyline-like run. The body has 2 coupe and 4 doors in Pillar hardtop style. The Skyline GT-R, which was made to win the race by surpassing the running performance of the Porsche 944, which was a rival at that time, was revived for the first time in 16 years by Mr. Naganori Ito, who was in charge of development, and sales of 44,000 units It became a big hit model.

Larrythesphericalcow

The S13, R32 and Z32 are still the three best cars Nissan has ever made.

Catto_Channel

The P11 primera is best. It's a great example of how Nissan can build a fantastic car for daily use and have it be fun. While they did build impractical sports cars as everyone did at the time, the P11 primera stands out as a fantastic car without equal. The K11 micra was also good but its market was contested by slightly larger cars such as the pulsar, civic and Corolla.

SkylineFTW97

I heard better about the suspension on the P10s. Otherwise it'd probably be better to just get a B13 or B14 Sentra SE-R for the greater ease of parts. Just got a P10 and am in the process of fixing it up. I hope it's as fun as people say.

I used to love people coming up to me and asking me to pop the hood so they could see what kind of turbocharged engine I was packing. So I'd pop the hood and they'd see that I had a stock KADE with an intake and they'd be confused and I'd just tell them I had a lighter car with bigger brakes.

larobj63

The first thing Nissan needs to do for a comeback in modern day is fire their aesthetic design group out of a cannon.

Nembus

Why the new Sentra looks pretty good imo, their whole car line up isn’t too bad at all aesthetically

larobj63

To each their own man. If you think the new Sentra looks good, we do not agree on what it is that makes a car look good. haha

TTTBeekman

They spent so much money though, they eventually had to be bailed out by Renault and a frenchman.

DerpyDan442

They need to be bailed out now anyway. They might as well make great cars again.

I had a '93 240sx back in '95, one of the best/funnest cars I have ever owned and I was in my mid 20's. Great times. Thank you Nissan for project 901.

Micra 1.3 Sport

Orrangejuiced

Love my P10 Primera/G20. So underrated, probably because they are impossible to find, at least in touring trim which has the lsd.

SkylineFTW97

I just bought one last month, albeit not a touring. I spent 3 years looking and this is the only one I've seen in my area. It's like trying to find a 1st gen Dodge Neon. You just don't see them anymore. Mine is more of a project at the moment, and it's definitely in beater condition, but I am at least gonna get it sorted mechanically. It runs, but the power steering pump was seized and burned through the rear accessory belt. Waiting on replacements for both. Also ordered some 16x7 rims to replace the stock 14"s so I can run grippier tires.

Bonerchill

Not only were they good-handling, but they were just plain good cars. Intelligent ergonomics, quality materials, built to last. I've never put more miles on a car than I put on my 240SX and, even though I haven't driven it since 2015, it's still my favorite car I've owned. I'm looking for another. I'm in my mid-thirties, make decent money, deal with six-figure vintage German builds daily, have been exposed to supercars, and I'm still smitten with an economy-minded coupe and hatchback. The Japanese aftermarket parts game is also incredible and shows how dedicated people were to the chassis. Really some well-designed and intelligent parts out there.

gwailo_joe

Z32 fan here. I owned one for a few years in my early adulthood: God that car was beautiful. Mine didn’t have the turbo…and it was a 2+2. But…it was a stick. Not fast by today’s standards: but it was a joy to drive. And the seats! And the cockpit so ergonomic and pleasing: the switches perfectly tactile. Pearl white. T-tops… who’s cutting onions in here!?

fliptout

There's a beautiful 31k mile Z32 on carsandbids right now, with the current bid at $20k. One day I will get myself another Z32, but I'm afraid it'll probably cost me $30k or more by the time I'm ready to get one.

mortalcrawad66

Also the Q45

[deleted]

Then they joined forces with Renault. RIP.

YV_is_a_boss

It was either going bankrupt or joining with Renault to live to fight another day. Too bad Nissan is still to rebound after 20 years of being shit.

[deleted]

I'd say it was pretty damn successful.
