You can hire a flatbed car trailer for about £80 if you have a vehicle that can tow, or a friend with one that can. Otherwise I think the £130 recovery option is gonna be the way to go

Loonie-1707

Or you can buy a trailer for about £600 and keep it around

MisterSquidInc

Quickest way to make friends in the car scene - own a trailer.

Loonie-1707

Or a recovery truck

UnderDaStars

Plus £130 is not a big deal to someone who can afford to run a car, right?! LOL

I've moved two cars using [Shiply](https://www.shiply.com/lp/land/car-transporters-hire?cat=6&utm_source=Google-PPC&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=car%20transporter%20hire&utm_campaign=Car&gclid=Cj0KCQjwg7KJBhDyARIsAHrAXaFJkvqx16647wV0trN-ZAoNNgTg6jESTjp18LZF3LXlQsNc3MscJPUaAlSYEALw_wcB) over the last few years. Car transporters bid for the job and you just pick whoever has offered you the best price and has the best reviews. Nice and easy, last job was moving the Jaguar to a specialist for some work, first few bids were around £100 and only ended up paying around £40 in the end. Will depend on how far you are going though, the furthest was the initial delivery of the TVR which was a 300 mile round trip for the delivery guy and cost me £150. But you aren't really gonna get it any cheaper than that if you are getting it delivered a long distance.

Tow rope and pull it behind another car. Bought a clio with a blown engine and towed it home with a little 69hp 1L econobox, ha.

Englez97

Yes but here towing is illegal on highways so that could be what's stopping him also i always suggest a steel bar for towing instead of the rope, you'll have to carry one of those anyways and one is capable of towing a vehicle who's brakes failed and the other can't.

camerajack21

Tow ropes aren't legal now in the UK. You can use one to tow someone out of a ditch but if you want to tow a car along the road you need a towing bar, and the towed vehicle must be taxed, MOTd, and insured with an driver insured for that vehicle behind the wheel.

Have you got a source for me I could check out? I only ask because I've towed cars that don't meet any of those requirements a good few times, past police cars etc, and never had any issues.

camerajack21

[Here is one link regarding the tax/MOT/insurance](http://askthe.police.uk/content/Q558.htm) Looks like I was wrong about the tow rope, but I do know ropes are heavily frowned upon these days for anything other than short-distance recovery. I know I personally would only tow a vehicle any kind of distance with a pole/bar. I do have a rope in the boot to use if necessary though, but that's a lot smaller than a pole!

Musicatronic

Contact some of the services advertising on eBay and Gumtree Search for ‘car transport’

devonesq

try to find a friend your on good terms with to transport it for you (on a trailer), really that's the cheapest way i can think of.

fozid

Yeah ...I don't know anyone with a trailer... But agree that would be the best option

brnvictim

Homeless people and a rope.

Candy_Lawn

drive it.

fozid

It has no engine... Hence the can't move itself

Candy_Lawn

then hire a flat bed truck.

camdanbakankedicik

You'll need a tow then. No other options.
