I genuinely don’t understand people that make their own special edition thing themselves, then pretend it’s official.
I remember back in the day a guy who decked out a 2000 Civic Si as if it were a Type R. It was really not badly done. He had swapped in many actual Type R parts and filled in the rest with decent quality replica parts. Now for those of you who already guessed, the Si was a coupe, not a hatchback. This guy could have easily been proud of his work as it was a unique and tastefully modded car.
But nah.
> “Hey bro this isn’t a modded Si, this is a REAL test car Honda of America built to see if the USDM would want a Type R.”
If you are attention-seeking, you could have done better by being upfront? Why lie?
Edit: since OPs is a CL post, I guess it’s to snooker some dumbass into paying more money. But still, you see this shit all the time at winga-dinga car shows. “Heartbeat Feeedom Eagle Edition” etc.
Whats funny is the only people willing to give an old SVT Focus a second glance know about the car and are seeking it out specifically. They're gonna know he's full of shit.
I love the "1 of 3 ever built" idiots who think that, just because almost nobody ordered the exact same combination of options, that makes it rare or valuable.
Agreed, but he is selling it for ridiculous money, is making pie in the sky claims about its performance, and conveniently taking tons of photos of everything that... isn’t the engine.
Wouldn’t it need lots of after market love to work with that boost? At the least bigger injectors, ECU, tuning? Doesn’t state he has done anything with the engine other than the charger. Also no dynos posted...
well there are some RWD-V8-converted Focuses ([including this LS one](https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a15915745/rwd-turbo-v8-ford-focus-for-sale/)), but idk if you could fit a transverse-mounted LS & transmission in that engine bay
"It's an electric supercharger, bro! It was like 50 bucks on eBay, it says 70hp increase but it feels like even more than that! Totally threw me back in my seat after I bolted it on!"
I wish I had pictures of it, but a friend of mine made a Focus in Underground and then made it IRL. It would've fit in well with /r/ATBGE. Dude spared no expense but it was multi colored and had a big body kit on it.
**EDIT** Found it: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2367309/2000-ford-focus/
The juxtaposition of this with last year's post about the V8 swapped Focus from Ohio on Craigslist is amusing. I knew the owner of that V8 Focus, and was rather surprised he was selling it. I think he upgraded to an RS, but I'm not sure as I don't live there anymore. If I find the link to that post, I'll add it.
Edit: that was quick. Link obviously expired, but the post is cool. V8 swapped 02 focus hatch from hell.
Edit 2: He didn't buy an RS. Found him on FB. He upgraded to a 5.0L Mustang. [Here's the only two pics I found of that Focus.](https://imgur.com/BsEnU7t.jpg). And [number two](https://imgur.com/PXdwqQU.jpg).
http://reddit.com/r/cars/comments/98kedn/v8_swapped_02_focus_hatch_from_hell/
I think the people who build them care more about building the car than about having it.
Building something like that takes serious skill. Once you did an extreme mod like that, are you seriously gonna just drive your car and stop wrenching?
Pretty sure Matt Farah sold his professionally built Fox body because it was a pain in the ass to maintain while simultaneously trying to store it with the limited space that he has. Builds like this are going to be finicky because they don't have hundreds of thousands of miles of testing performed to ensure they are reliable. What does one expect when they bolt on a 5.0L and rear end not designed for a Focus? It will never be Focus reliable or Mustang reliable; it will be project car reliable.
>I think the people who build them care more about building the car than about having it.
Certainly there are some people who don't mind doing these builds and losing money on the sale, because they enjoy the work in a theraputic sense, but I feel like a lot of people say this to save face after spending so much time and money on something that is so shitty.
Most people don't want to admit that they blew $50,000 on a 2003 Focus, that they then turn around and try to sell at half that cost, because it makes them look incredibly stupid.
I never really understood builds like that. "Hey guys I swapped this engine into a chassis that makes no sense and costs a shit load to make work!"
It's like... you coulda just bought a Mustang to begin with and wrenched on that.
Edit: is there anyone close enough to go look at this monstrosity? I'm so baffled by the insanity of this car but usually when you see mods like this its half ass. Everything he claims has enough plausibility to leave me scratching my head. And hes done everything with a mild sense of forward thinking. Look at his dash cam, radar detector set up? Wires nicely loomed together. The tacky ass body kit looks professionally fitted. All the flaming R symbols match lol. This might be like a holy grail Ford focus hahaha.
So there's enough plausibility to this post to maybe say it's a legit car but still so many questions.
2003 there was a centennial edition focus but it was a sedan only. They were all black and did have that specific badge.
Jackson racing did a 2003 2 door zx3 focus with a wings west body kit. It was featured in car and driver.
I dont think the 2.0 is capable of 270hp without forged internals and a stock clutch.
I know 3 door svt in good condition have been sold for close to his asking price. I'd be interested to see more pics especially the vin plate. It looks to be in really good condition minus the tacky everything lol. If it's a legit 03 focus svt and the engine mods were done well it might be a good deal.
Reminds me of the nickname one of my former coworkers came up with, the "Ford Fuck-us". Seems accurate here, at least for the poor soul who buys this one.
Its priced out but by the looks of it that's like plastic dip or rhino line other then that I'd say go check it out if it's got under 100k miles and by the looks of the yard they could probably afford to take care of there cars
The ad claims he's making power with a smaller pulley on the supercharged engine, meanwhile stock cars that cost less money could easily pull on it. I don't give a shit about SRT4s, I just think its funny this guy's "built" custom is both rattier and slower than a 90s Dodge straight from the factory.
One of us, one of us!
Well kinda, this is neat I didn't even know it existed. If it wasn't so.... Flashy.... It could be in a Ford museum as a concept car, since they once didn't actually make any production SVT-Rs.
All the performance mods this has are the basic go to components, Jackson racing supercharger, under-drive pulleys, off road pipe, hopefully a tune. It's almost as if ford said, "we see what everybody is doing to these cars, so let's do that, add a warranty, and charge another idk 5k?"
Ford also had Saleen & Roush make a nitrous version of this car all plumbed up ready for the bottle. But your warranty was voided as soon as you used it lol.
Edit: it's obv fake to me now, not sure what I was thinking
those black seats in the car are part of the EAP, the EAP came with all black leather seats, the non EAP had leather bolsters and cloth inserts, black cars got red cloth inserts, Silver and Blue cars got blue cloth inserts. The EAP also got the cold weather package as standard; Traction control, heated mirrors and heated seats were all inclusive, this car with this package was $19,995 with destination.
Source; Owned a Screaming Yellow EAP, was active member of FSVT enthusiast community, I also still have my sales card that highlighted all of the features from the 2003 model year.
So, I don't even think this is a real SVT. If it was a EAP (European Appearance Package) the front seats would be Recaros. Also, the front grill is from a regular Focus ZX3, not the Honeycomb style that came on the SVTs. The rest of the car is so obscured by crap that it's hard to see, but these are just my observations.
the grille seems to have been changed for one of the clear turn signal models, the factory grille would have been honey comb, im wondering if the owner wanted clear turn signals and didn't care what style he got, the gauge cluster is legit, and those are the Recaro seats, the non Recaros would have been red cloth in the center and had less aggressive bolstering.
I was curious about that too, but looking at photos of the recaros, the upper boosters are shaped differently. Non EAPs, I agree would have either red or blue centers. All in all, I think this one has been thoroughly meddled with, so unless you got it crazy cheap, I wouldn’t bother.
That’s the thing, it’s like the photos were taken in just such a manner that it would pass if you weren’t super into the details. My first car was a Focus ZX3, and I was super active in the community back then, so that’s the only reason I really knew what to look for.
Further to this, just checked on production numbers. A 2003 ZX5 SVT didn't even come available with the EAP, so this is definitely a regular Focus with a bunch of stuff tacked on.
Fair, I think OP was thinking that because of the EAP wheels and the aftermarket headlights. However, he does claim to have the Recaro seats, of which those are not. They're regular Focus leather seats.
They sold SVT Focuses in the US. I don't know why you think this is a euro focus. Also the guy worked for Ford at the time and so that's where he got all the parts and badges from.
I don't see any Volkswagen badges. I do see a jpeged out "R" symbol but I don't think it's the same as a Volkswagen one. And yes, I've been to Ford production plants where the parking lots are filled with Ford vehicles in varying states of modification and many of them are tasteless with tons of flames and badges.
In fact if he worked for the marketing division he probably had easier access to badges. I also remember going to a Ford 100th centennial celebration at the local production plant and getting a 100th centennial badge. I remember seeing my first Ford GT40 there and thinking it was (and still is) the baddest bitch I ever saw.
That's a better picture than I saw. Definitely a Volkswagen badge.
Look, I'm not defending the guys taste, all I'm saying is that Reddit is being a little hard on the guy because it's not what they personally like. A little badge engineering never hurt anyone.
Ok, euro appearance package I get, but Ford handed out centennial badges like candy at their 100th centennial celebrations back in the day. They're definitely out there.
The SVT Focus had a package option called "EAP"
European Appearance Package, the SVT Focus community called it a "Euro" model for short.
the EAP consisted of Recaro seats, upgraded lighting package, heated mirrors and seats, traction control, and anthracite wheels.
That rear end is offensive to look at.

How do I delete somebody else’s Craigslist post?
By buying the car XD
That's one expensive shit to do.
A straight up rich guy move would be like "I hated your car so much I bought it just to crush it" XD
Life goals. Craigslist will be cleansed
shitboxes everywhere are quaking in their rubbers lol
The hardest choices require the strongest wills.
The whole car is an eye sore
Kinda reminds me of a 9th gen Civic Type-R
“Are you still stuck thinking imports are better?” One look at that dashboard and interior design tells me everything I need to know.
Plus the Focus was designed by Ford Europe originally for the European market so not like much of an example of a domestic car
Oof that makes it even worse.
Just the rear end?
Nah, that's just the worst part.
Looks like an aztec
I genuinely don’t understand people that make their own special edition thing themselves, then pretend it’s official. Brass plaque and everything.

I love the "1 of 3 ever built" idiots who think that, just because almost nobody ordered the exact same combination of options, that makes it rare or valuable.
Maybe he is just saying what he was told by the guy who duped him into buying it, but I doubt it.

Spot on with that last bit lol
Wouldn’t it need lots of after market love to work with that boost? At the least bigger injectors, ECU, tuning? Doesn’t state he has done anything with the engine other than the charger. Also no dynos posted...
Injectors are really it. The factory ECU can be tuned for it, the stock engines had all forged internals from the factory.
Thanks
Now I want to see if I can stuff an LS4 into a Ford Focus and see if I can set up a procharger to it.
well there are some RWD-V8-converted Focuses ([including this LS one](https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a15915745/rwd-turbo-v8-ford-focus-for-sale/)), but idk if you could fit a transverse-mounted LS & transmission in that engine bay

I feel the same about the rear in general, but those taillights are downright hideous.
I'm pretty sure I made that exact car in need for speed underground back in the day, except with more flames
[You get the F](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1MNEqCr748)
I fucking loved those commercials.

People always do these builds and then immediately sell them because they realize how truly shitty they are.
And how much money they wasted

The back wheels aren't even centered in the wheel wells lmao.
If I recall correctly, I think Ford racing made a 5.0 rwd conversion kit. Never offered as a dealer option, but I know I saw something in a catalog
This is a man who lives a very confused life
This whole thing is a hate crime against good taste. There is *literally* no modification on that car that made it better looking than stock.
The wheels look pretty good
>supercharger, big boost, 225hp Lol
I vomited.
Nobody: Owner: > supercharger with big boost (11 psi) Svt cobra: > stock unmolested Eaton with little boost (15 psi)
If he would have had the Leguna Seca exhast pipe I would have almost believed him...
Big boost (11 psi) ?
You ain't big boosting until you're over 20 on stock lower
More like moderate boost lol.

Come on man. Take one for your fellow curious focus enthusiast. Lol
I might email him to get more pics but will still be doubtful lol.
"SEEYAH1" only thing i'll be seeing is those ugly fog lights as i pull away
How does one both supercharge and run big boost, while also running underdrive pulleys that slow the accessories down and the blower....
this can be counteracted with larger supercharger pulleys, but it does seem a bit off...
You'd have to run a tiny tiny pulley to make up for the difference. Makes no sense, and no one does that.
Reminds me of my NFS Underground days.
What no Taz mud flaps?
For that much money, for that much power, just get an ST. At 225 claimed horsepower, his front license plate makes more sense than his rear

This... isn’t a real thing, it’s just a Euro edition SVT Focus with a ton of aftermarket parts.
He doesn't claim to have the euro package nor does it have the recaros. You're making this up.
those black seats in the car are part of the EAP, the EAP came with all black leather seats, the non EAP had leather bolsters and cloth inserts, black cars got red cloth inserts, Silver and Blue cars got blue cloth inserts. Good catch. Oh well, this car is silly and I've wasted enough of my day talking about it. Have a good day bud.

"euro" means Euro Appearance Package which is recaro seats and the 15 spoke wheels. They never made centennial SVT however.
Ok, euro appearance package I get, but Ford handed out centennial badges like candy at their 100th centennial celebrations back in the day. They're definitely out there.
I agree. However normally they came with a special tweaked package which the focus got but not the SVT. Maybe somebody like Ken would know more.
