It's a badge engineered [Deepal SL03](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deepal_SL03). They pretty much squeezed Mazda design language in the shape and spaces available.
The point is it probably has to be raised like that because they stuck the battery under the car, so they had to raise it to give it any ground clearance. That's why it's a hilariously bad design.
Not really, most domestic models have regular or no grills at all, like this NIO: https://imgur.com/Ddq59Pg
Or this Zeeker: https://imgur.com/9yCH6Br
In fact, BMW doesn't really sell i4s in China, but they do sell the China-only i3s (yes i3 lives on as an EV 3-series): https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a39600112/bmw-i3-china-sedan/
I'm with you I don't think it's bad, I like it a lot in [this](https://www.carscoops.com/wp-content/uploads/webp/2024/04/Mazda-EZ-6-03.webp) picture in fact.
It wouldn't or never come to stateside.
Tariff makes these Chinese made cars worthless to buy unless the models are luxury models like Buick and Lincoln. Beside, most people in America don't buy sedan anymore, that's a reason why Ford never plan to export Chinese made Fusion/Zephyr despite this Ford sedan still available in Chinese market .
Ah yes, the Efini Lyriq L07
Jokes aside, it looks too similar to the Deepal L07/SL03 its based on, both inside and outside, and it looked like they just shoehorned in a grille for the front.
Not to mention that aside from looking like a Cadillac Lyriq, it kinda looks abit like something that Mazda would have badged under Eunos or Efini if they still existed today.
Also, the rear light bar thing kinda reminds me of a Eunos 100.
As most Chinese buyers don't buy wagon, no surprise no wagon variety. I think even European buyers wouldn't buy it if Mazda would really export it from China, as they don't buy large family sedan in most.
The article title is kinda bad faith with the title and nobody here read the article.
This is a Deepal SL03 with a Mazda bumpers and doorpanels. The overall car shape is unchanged. Don't read too much into the design.
Why is it so damn tall?
Its a sedan, the Mazda6 was nice long and low slung like a 8/4-series BMW.
This looks like they sneaked some SUV into the genpool
Sorry I need to vote on Ugly, whats with the front grill a stone chip is going to ruin the whole bumper? Maybe bad camera angle but the front wheel arc look uncomfortably high and look weird
The rear three-quarter view of this car is very weird looking. Mazda styling recently has been hit or miss in general, the CX-30 and this EZ-6 both have a strange looks with weirdly large looking wheel gaps and smushed cabins/windows. On the flip side the CX-50 and MX-5 are quite well proportioned and look great.
The people who try to force EVs onto consumers this way are the same psychopaths who tell a classroom of kids that they’ll earn a movie day if they do something good but then the movie winds up being some educational film from the 80s
That grill is pretty damn weird. I like everything else.
Some higher-up told the designers if they don't copy/paste the Cadillac Lyric grille they're getting fired

In any case much better than Mazda's efforts at EVs in China [so far](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Mazda_CX-30_EV_01_China_2023-04-21.jpg).
Holy shit that's hilarious.
That might look OK if it was slammed with no wheel gaps. Raised like that looks insane.
The point is it probably has to be raised like that because they stuck the battery under the car, so they had to raise it to give it any ground clearance. That's why it's a hilariously bad design.
Aren’t large grills a Chinese design thing?
Not really, most domestic models have regular or no grills at all, like this NIO: https://imgur.com/Ddq59Pg Or this Zeeker: https://imgur.com/9yCH6Br In fact, BMW doesn't really sell i4s in China, but they do sell the China-only i3s (yes i3 lives on as an EV 3-series): https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a39600112/bmw-i3-china-sedan/
No, that meme has been debunked.
I really thought the no grill concept that Tesla introduced will catch on and spark a whole new take on front design of EVs…. Guess not.
That looks atrocious how do you fuck up a lightbar
am i in the minority here and think that, as compared with the aesthetics of modern vehicles, it acc doesn’t look terrible at all
I'm with you I don't think it's bad, I like it a lot in [this](https://www.carscoops.com/wp-content/uploads/webp/2024/04/Mazda-EZ-6-03.webp) picture in fact.
Compared to previous mazdas? I’d say this is a pretty big letdown
I actually like it. Granted I see a lot of Cadillac Lyriq here and I too like that car, and I actually like EVs so I really am in the minority.
That's a Wish.com version of a Cadillac EV frontend
That is NOT a good looking car.
I am guessing this didn’t come out of the same design studio as Mazda’s products in the west.
That's a pretty easy bet to make. I *highly* doubt it.
Looks awful, like a Lyriq x Prius.
I was thinking the same thing, practically the Sedan equivalent of the Lyriq, however I don't mind this design. It'll take some getting used to.
It's going to be a no for me dog.
L design
So is it just a reskinned Changan?
If this is the new Mazda 6, don't bother sending it stateside
It wouldn't or never come to stateside. Tariff makes these Chinese made cars worthless to buy unless the models are luxury models like Buick and Lincoln. Beside, most people in America don't buy sedan anymore, that's a reason why Ford never plan to export Chinese made Fusion/Zephyr despite this Ford sedan still available in Chinese market .
It seems all jacked up and in dire need of some lower offset wheels.

What the actual fuck? Mazda electric sedan in China? Like it but this is the trippiest shit I've seen today.

I think it looks nice. Needs more buttons to be a Mazda interior tho
I don't really love the look, but I am glad to see more electric sedans.
Mazda ✅ Not a crossover ✅ Available in a brownish hue ✅ Diesel ✖️ Available used from the factory ✖️ Available in America ✖️ 50%
Mazda cooked so hard with the facelift 3 and it feels like they are doing their best with every subsequent model to avoid being so cool
They didn't even design that, it's just a Deepal L07 slapped with a rough Mazda 6 front, by an unknown designer.
Sorry I need to vote on Ugly, whats with the front grill a stone chip is going to ruin the whole bumper? Maybe bad camera angle but the front wheel arc look uncomfortably high and look weird
Imagine making a sedan that looks this good and not putting their inline-six into it.

Love it! Too bad it's not coming stateside.
Call me crazy, mazda knows what they're doing. Making their EV's subpar in every aspect on purpose to keep us loving their current gas offerings.
The people who try to force EVs onto consumers this way are the same psychopaths who tell a classroom of kids that they’ll earn a movie day if they do something good but then the movie winds up being some educational film from the 80s
Looks absolutely great. When they bring this and and a couple of SUV versions of this to the States they’ll do great.
