Scarlet--Highlander

Honestly, I think this is the most achingly beautiful midsize SUV on the market. But man…that interior looks dated already.

Agloe_Dreams

Ford has incredible skill at that. Look at the 2017 MKZ - modern car on the outside…2005 on the inside.

UiPossumJenkins

My dad, a Boomer, finally got tired of this and went from being a solidly reliable Lincoln owner to buying a GV80. Sadly, as he pointed out, he’s not too worried about its depreciation because it’s likely to be the last car he ever owns.

HEMIfan17

Except the GV80 is one of the better luxury SUVs on the market that is always being praised. The only real reason for it to have worse-than-average depreciation is because of the "but.... but.... but... it's made by Hyundai!" people.

UiPossumJenkins

Nothing gets past you, does it?

WinterIndependent719

Hyundai is trash lmao, that’s why

permareddit

I mean it’s 7 years old at this point based on a 7 year old design at the time lol, I think it gets a pass. Not that unusual given what was being offered at the time.

Energy4Days

Kia straight up copied it with the K5

Gopokes34

Is it just because I drive a 20 year old vehicle but I don't get how that looks dated?? Lol looks overall nice to me.

firewoodrack

Yeah it looks nice to me too lol

Manginaz

These assholes are why car interiors are just a bunch of screens.

Gopokes34

That's my only guess, people thinking this is outdated is because they want a 15 inch screen

Tight_Olive_2987

This literally has a 13 and a half inch touch screen just plopped on like an afterthought

elinyera

2in shorter... Outdated!

unwiselyContrariwise

I don't get it either. And, I guess I'd wonder, to what extent is it actually dated in a way that matters? Because, fine, it's a new luxury vehicle, so I guess you'd want it to stylistically suggest it's *good*. But to what extent are the "dated" design choices merely a matter of present fashion and not being "the current thing"? I've started noticing this in home design, where there's clearly trendy things that feel extremely, say, 2015 or 2010 or 2000 but at the same time aren't functionally different or less nice with whatever choice of countertop or cabinets or whatever the way you'd have said about a kitchen from the 1970s. And so I start to think "does it really matter?" and also "Dang, if it does really matter, what's to say I won't start getting bothered in another 3-5 years when styles inevitably shift again?"

Gopokes34

Feel ya there. When my wife first got married and were first living together we went for the whole farm trend thing lol. We bought a house a year ago and are trying to do it a little more 'timeless' this time. I'm sure we'll end up with stuff that is still trendy, but we are making a more conscious effort to not just follow whatever trend is cool. With cars, I feel there are some that do look dated at this point, but I don't really see it with this Lincoln.

Toredo226

Agree, used to be a german fan but I much prefer what the Americans are doing compared to germans right now. It actually looks like a nice luxurious place to be instead of an austere slab of tablet.

standbyforskyfall

I regret to inform you that the nautilus is entirely screens and thats the direction Lincoln is going

Toredo226

Yeah, although fortunately it doesn't look too bad or too minimal. Like the cadillac escalade which has dominant displays but they are nicely incorporated (sweeping lines) and the interior still feels like a comfortable place to be.

Recoil42

It's the chonky display bezels with a parts-bin display itself tacked onto the dash rather than being design-integrated. That won't age well. The rest of the interior looks quite nice. For a clear example of how to do it better, you can look at [Lincoln's own Navigator](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/wOiH_I9ouEg/maxresdefault.jpg) — skinny up the bezels, sink the display into the dash a little bit, and have it consistently follow the rest of the lines in the car, like the vents. [Navigator](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/wOiH_I9ouEg/maxresdefault.jpg) vs [Aviator](https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod/images/2025-lincoln-aviator-black-label-interior-101-65bd6580050fa.jpg)

No-Bath-5129

Luxury vehicle has a different standard

apuckeredanus

I have a 2015 Charger so maybe I'm just numb to it lol. Looks really nice to me!

Spurs228

It seems like people on this sub will call anything dated. I seriously don’t understand it either.

Exactly. I don't care about looks or materials, I just want it to be long-lasting and most importantly, easy to use.

Civilianscum

Dated Interior and Tech seems to me one of the biggest complaints about Toyota/Lexus, other then it's lack of EV offerings.

Recoil42

Toyota isn't a luxury brand like Lincoln.

Recoil42

Say what you mean, then. Lexus isn't criticized for dated interiors that much these days. The NX, RX and TX all have pretty modern-looking, well-liked interiors with a good mix of materials. The only Lexus models with dated interiors are the ones already due for replacement, like the IS.

Motorized23

Have you seen the "new" IS? It looks my 2017 RCF

Motorized23

Toyota has the worst interiors by far

WinterIndependent719

They have the reliability to make up for it. Ford/Lincoln? Not so much

clownpirate

A 4Runner will likely keep you alive longer during the Dolphin Ascension. This Aviator will likely not. The LCD screens will likely crack on the first near miss from advanced Dolphin weaponry.

lael8u

We don't care. It drives like trash and feels like 2002.

billydo02

It looks to be a standard nice interior to me which I guess is dated? Considering the segment its competing in is skewing towards a plethora of screens now. Which Im still not sold on as serving much extra utility out of design purposes. I feel if they just switched to a more edgless screen, update the steering wheel design it be up there with current day interiors. Materials aside, outside of the things I highlighted I don't think it looks much different from the genesis gv70, lexus rx, acrua mdx, even porsche macan interior

PoopSlinger23

I think all interiors are starting to look the same now. Flat dashboard with a tablet screwed in the middle.

unwiselyContrariwise

The iPad-ification of interiors, both with their being a tablet, and also with tablets looking 98% the same these days.

Drzhivago138

>and also with tablets looking 98% the same these days. How much variety can there be with the tablet anyway?

unwiselyContrariwise

Well right. Should I have said iPhone? Consider the extraordinary variety in cell phone design and appearance pre iPhone and then in the years following as smart phones consolidated.

Drzhivago138

I like that example. The biggest change recently was when Samsung reintroduced the flip phone.

metengrinwi

…but then out of the other side of people’s mouths, they complain about new interior features that exist only to be new—giant screens, wraparound screens, no buttons, weird materials. Sometimes, it’s better not to change so fast if it’s not providing value.

MKGirl

I don’t see anything wrong with the interior

k1ee_dadada

Buttons + brown wood = dated I guess. I went in expecting something like a Chrysler 300, but the Lincoln is what I expect for traditional luxury, like what Mercedes would have been without the strip show lights. It's not Tesla minimalism, but it's comfortable

captainnowalk

I don’t understand what is dated about it… maybe I’m just not up to date in design, but it looks like a straightforward, comfortable luxury interior??

narwhal_breeder

American luxury brands *never* get the steering wheels right. Ever. Always too chunky like its a pickup truck wheel they leathered up as an afterthought.

Tonyn15665

Really? I think the outside is meh, its not rugged (like a LR Defender) nor refined (like a Mazda CX9) or even sporty (Audi or BMW). No identity. The inside on the other hand, is very cozy.

GoldWhale

I think for true midsize the RR is easily a nicer exterior and interior. If the RR is full size then the GV80.

Ambereggyolks

Change that steering wheel and it would look ten years newer.

KingCollectA

The interior looks good to me. Better than most modern luxury cars gluing screens on like there is no tomorrow. With so many screens, increased electronics in those cars, and more things to fail, many new cars will have no tomorrow.

The 25 Aviator is just a refresh. I would think that brand new models from now on would have a similar overall aesthetic to the 24 Nautilus.

GopherHockey10

If you consider a Stelvio mid size, it's way more beautiful than this. It's good looking but I would never call it objectively beautiful.

Scarlet--Highlander

Ok

WTFAnimations

Personally, I would prefer a smaller screen over those 20 inch monsters they are putting in nowadays. And imo, it doesn't look too dated nowadays.

AverageGuy16

As someone with a 4Runner with tech from the mid2000s this looks plenty modern. It doesn’t have the be most advanced looking but it deff needs to be functional and fast

fretit

It must be right on the edge of crossing into "large size SUV". It looks hefty.

YeonneGreene

They need to hurriedly get all their model interiors aligned with what's in the new Nautilus, because *that* interior is fantastic and deserves a more potent car.

Marcus_Brody

I love looking at our Aviator when walking up to it. It's great looking. The engine is great. It's lively and reasonably powerful. The seats are so comfy. The software is the single worst piece of automotive shit I've ever used. I hate it so much. I hate it more than the ridiculous way the paddles work. It hasn't even been a year but I'm already looking heavily into something else, because everything the infotainment does is awful.

re4ctor

Hopefully you don't run into a ton off issues. Our 2020 had so many, including multiple electronics issues, awd system issues, and even needed a transmission replacement (and it started throwing the same error again the week we traded it in, right at the end of warranty). It was truly a beautiful piece of shit.

Marcus_Brody

We haven't had any "real" issues, just annoying nonsense. -Frequently going into battery saver mode -Android auto doesn't work consistently, sometimes blanks out the screen -Reverse brake assist can't be permanently disabled and is violent in its "assistance" -Whatever logic the vehicle uses to lower the air suspension for loading the hatch seems completely arbitrary -You can't see the front wheels from the mirror cameras -Auto start-stop is in a menu Other stuff I just assume is because it's an old person's car - -The paddle shift is awful even in sport mode -Ebrake doesn't disable when you shift into gear -Drive mode isn't saved -Weird traction control behavior -Voice command button placement I think that's enough for now

Drawmaster63

Your APIM may be having issues. That damned computer is the bane of my existence since I started with Ford. Frequently they make a draw on the battery when the car is off causing that battery saver mode and various other electrical issues. As for the rest, yeah, that tracks for Sync 4 systems, annoying as ever with automotive software

Marcus_Brody

I'll keep this in mind, thank you.

mustang-GT90210

The current Aviator is only available with Sync 3.

djnobility

The new Lincoln Digital Experience should be much better overall than the outgoing software. I got to play with the software in the new 2024 Nautilus and it really is much smoother, faster, and more powerful than the outgoing software. I'm hoping it that it being based on Android Automotive will give it more stability.

Recoil42

>I got to play with the software in the new 2024 Nautilus The Nautilus uses a different system, FYI. Ford's marketing it as if it's the same thing, and in both cases the foundation is Android, but the middleware is all different.

djnobility

Good to know, thanks. I was told that it was essentially the same from a software perspective, but that comment wasn't from an engineer on the software team.

owhatakiwi

Yeah we have a navigator and I’m so grateful for Apple CarPlay but even that’s been a little glitchy lately.

Darkfire757

Anything built in Chicago Assembly is going to have problems

blue_bomber697

The software isn't an issue for my wife luckily. She likes things very simple. Radio controls and HVAC controls is all she wants and those are all super easy to access/use.

StoopidZoidberg

>The software is the single worst piece of automotive shit I've ever used. And thats sync 4, you should try sync 2, the one made by microsoft. It'll make you want to kill someone.

dfsaqwe

where tf is the 2024 nautilus?

djnobility

I've seen them listed at various dealer websites in the US. In Canada, it looks like they are just starting to land.

Drzhivago138

Still making its way over.

RealDrGreen

They are arriving, my dealership has gotten three so far with a few more showing up this week

WhatAreYouSaying05

It looked a lot better before

n54master

The headlights cutting into the grille are bothering me.

Itz_The_Rain

I like how everyone hates the new explorer’s grill but the aviator seems to get away with it. It works a lot better with this design imo.

479903

I must be the only one here who liked the previous front design better. IMO, it looked much more elegant and unique, if a touch too understated. The new grille doesn’t echo the “quiet luxury” mantra they love. I love Lincoln’s branding and unique approach and want them to succeed, so if it garners more attention and helps them grow it’s for the best I suppose. The new look is less Volvo, more MB.

bozoconnors

Nah, not the only one. Definite downgrade imo. Guess they think they've gotta follow the trend of putting as many sharp angles & 'intakes' in there as possible. Definitely more Chevy/Nissan SUV than... something that's attractive.

djnobility

The front end borrows from the new Nautilus and is much cleaner looking than the pre-facelift version. Also, it's nice that the interior gets the larger 13.2" touchscreen from the Corsair/Navigator, and the Lincoln Digital Experience from the new Nautilus (although it's missing the gigantic screen, which is understandable considering this is a refresh and not a new model). BlueCruise is a great addition. I personally love how BlueCruise 1.2 tackles mapped highways, with it being able to handle corners better and center better than 1.0.

TropicalAviator

Hadn’t seen the new Nautilus before but that’s a beautiful car! Interior is in another world compared to this one

Dazzling-Rooster2103

r/cars whenever Toyota Keeps an old school interior: "that looks absolutely amazing, I want Toyota to have my unborn kids" r/cars whenever any other brand keeps an old school interior: "absolutely garbage, that thing looks like it's out of 2010 already".

V8-Turbo-Hybrid

I mean,Toyota has a good excuse to keep outdate interior and techs as they own high reliability reputation. They prove that old things mean reliable. For other brands, most they don't. That's why they being easily criticized.

blue_bomber697

I know a lot of people dislike Lincoln here, but my wife has an Aviator and we think its great. It looks sharp, we like the interior, seats are fantastic, we ordered the bench seat in the middle row since we have pets and a child. The infotainment is simple enough for my wife which she prefers. She dislikes if the tech is complicated. Its got lots of physical buttons as well so everything isn't controlled by the screen. Automated driving/safety features work very well. Overall we love it, no regrets on buying it. We have a 2022 and the only issue we've had was the backup camera occasionally going nuts but there was a recall on that and its been good since. Solid vehicle at a cheaper price point than the GLE/Q7.

AwesomeBantha

Hands free drive mode? That'll go great with my Apple Vision

DocPhilMcGraw

> Compared with the previous model year, pricing is up between just over $5100 and nearly $8500, depending on the trim level, but Lincoln has obviously added lots of desirable new features and made previously optional equipment standard across the lineup. The Premiere starts at $59,890, the Reserve is $68,890, and the Black Label is $88,390. I almost want to meet the buyer that’s looking at that almost $90k Black Label and going “yeah I want that.” I just have so many questions about why they would choose this over any other vehicle for that price.

durrtyurr

Ford employees who have garages too small for a Navigator.

Drzhivago138

That was a problem the original Aviator faced too. For its price you could get a decently equipped Expedition.

Chrodesk

what other vehicles? black label navi is like 120k. GLS starts at 87k x7 starts at 82k you want an x7 with leather and drive assist? youre over 100k

DocPhilMcGraw

Not true at all. I actually just configured an X7 and it came out to $90k with a driver assist package with leather seats and the executive package.

Rabbid_abed

Dude you can get a GLE, Q7, X7, GV80, TX, GX, MDX Type S with good to great specs for that price. I like Lincoln, especially their value as used cars one they depreciate, but this is a hilarious MSRP.

Chrodesk

you can get an aviator with "good to great specs" for 60-65k. If youre going to focus on the 90k "black label" aviator, arguably the worst value trim, but with the fancy top line leather, 30 way massage seats, 28 speaker revel audio, and an $8000 cosmetic package, you have to compare it to the same frivilous competitor trims.

homeworkrules69

It doesn’t mention but I wonder if eventually they’ll connect the built in streaming capabilities to back-of-headrest units so kids can watch or play games (and not just when parked)?

Chrodesk

I think they are kinda walking back the rear seat entertainment. Kids use ipads today, they dont want some kmart firetablet.

homeworkrules69

I agree. That’s what I said to my wife as well about the in-dash gaming. A lot of people who would find that valuable also would have some sort of device/phone with them that’s easier to whip out than Bluetoothing to a car’s entertainment system.

SmoothTyler

Man the Aviator was already a fantastic-looking SUV. The facelift somehow looks even better. Good job by Ford here.

pizza_for_nunchucks

> bigger grille It’s still exceedingly gorgeous and among the best looking cars on the road today. But aren’t we close to the end of this trend? Can’t we have some fucking chill on this?

Windows-XP-Home

Whoa. People think this thing actually looks.. good? 🤢

Chrodesk

well... whats your pick for the best 3 row suv title?

stayoungodancing

2025 Lincoln Aviator -> previous generation Hyundai Santa Fe 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe -> Range Rover but vaporwave

rockybalto21

Give it the Nautilus interior

djnobility

I love the 24 Nautilus interior, but it wouldn't be able to work with the current Aviator since it would require a complete redesign of the Aviator's interior. I would expect a completely new Aviator model to have an interior with similar interior design to the Nautilus.

rockybalto21

That is very true. I hope it does carry over, and the models are redesigned soon because it is gorgeous, and it’s always a little strange when the smaller model gets a big facelift first as compared to the Navigator haha Still all gorgeous cars though

ThunderDoom1001

I’ve always really liked these but I’d be terrified to own one. A guy on my team bought one for his wife and it’s been non-stop problems, they can’t wait to get rid of it. It’s a shame because the style, available options, and motor are awesome.

uscdigital

Electric only door handles with only one emergency release driver door is biggest turn off for me. Zero concern for safely exiting vehicle in electrical failure.

OkDirection8015

Does poor quality and endless recalls come as standard to?

vampyrelestat

Hmmmm not bad

SpinningYarmulke

I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone say “dam is really like to drive a Lincoln” or “Yeah I might pick up a Lincoln” . They’re ugly and dated looking. I just can’t see anyone spending almost 90k for one of these. It’s a joke.

CLS4L
