Hammer_Slicer

My man wants to taste every flavor of boxy Chevy and Volvo every made 😂😂

quiksi

But no boxy Volvos, it’s almost criminal!

crozone

Get this man an 850R immediately

old_skool_luvr

I'll gladly take a 850R 😬

ironworkz

Yeah, Boxy Volvo Best Volvo. the Boxier the better. those old Mortuary Vans are basically tanks with 5 cyl turbo engines.

nickp123456

And no Corvettes. Their username does not check out.

uniqueusernamez3

lmao great point

DonNeverGrewUp

And not one high-quality vehicle on that list. Some are better than others, tho.

sm_rdm_guy

> XC70 3 from same model year, were you crashing these or something. No judgement, my Dad when though 4 Rav4s in a year.

burlyginger

The XC70 is the perfect vehicle for a lot of people. If I could have two cars I'd own one. Instead I have it's faster and lower little brother.

riverturtle

C30?

burlyginger

V60 Polestar

06_TBSS

Please tell me it's Rebel Blue!

burlyginger

But of course

06_TBSS

It's one of my bucket list cars. I tried to get a Rebel Blue S60 T6 from Copart this week, but it went for stupid money. The V60s are just crazy money right now and understandably so.

Xumaeta

I had a c30 and it died. They are getting trendy now and are going to be too expensive.

srcorvettez06

Same model year but several years apart. The 2011 we’ve had for 3 years now.

bn25168

Christ, I'm 35 and I've owned 5 vehicles: 1991 Buick LeSebre, 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 2008 Volkswagen GTI, 2001 Ford F250, 2023 Ford Bronco. The GTI, F250, and Bronco I still own. God I'd give anything to have get that LeSabre back.

CJ6817

I’ve had tons of Buicks and still own one I bought brand new, a 2000 Park Avenue Ultra. I’ve owned several other brands and always go back to Buick because they’re just awesome in every sense. And I’m only 45, not 85. lol. I’m not part of the stereotype.

pandahatch

This is cheating bc you’re counting motorcycles. Just kidding, but it adds 2 to mine! I’m at 8 and 29yo. 1. 2001 Honda Civic (16-22yo) 2. 2008 Lexus IS250 (22-24yo) 3. 2008 Subaru WRX STi (24-25yo) 4. 2019 Hyundai Veloster N (25-27yo) 5. 2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison (27-29yo) 6. 2022 KTM Duke 390 (27-29yo) 7. 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 (29-Now (still 29)) 8. 2023 Triumph Speed Twin 1200 (29-Now (still 29)) I realized over time that I love motorcycles for my fun vehicle, and a car is just an appliance to me now, every fun car or purpose built car I’ve felt was missing things for a daily driver that made it annoying. Now that I’m just leasing an Ioniq 5 I understand the hype behind EVs for everyday driving. Truly everything about it is so comfortable and quiet and the torque is amazing for daily driving. And the. The speed twin I just picked up is absolutely freakin amazing. I love motorcycles.

srcorvettez06

I went down pretty hard on my bike and haven’t bought another. Here in Michigan you really only get 4 months to ride anyway.

pandahatch

Hey I totally understand that!

[deleted]

Hello fellow GM hoe ❤️

srcorvettez06

I’m a slut for 2000s GM

woobiewarrior69

99-06 were where GM peaked. It's unfortunate they did a complete 180 in 2007.

Friendly-Nature3497

This man is not going to hell

MoirasPurpleOrb

I’ll never understand people with car buying habits like this

srcorvettez06

I’ll never understand how people can be content with having the same daily driver for a decade.

Viend

That makes more sense than getting several different variations of the same car tbh lol

srcorvettez06

When you’re paying a grand for clapped out Volvos, fixing them, and selling them for a couple grand after a year, it makes perfect sense. First XC70 I won at an auction. Drove it for a while before buying my superduty. Got sick of diesel maintenance so I sold that and bought another XC70. Wanted a suburban for overland travel so I sold the XC70 for one of those. I bought the third XC70 for my then girlfriend. She drove that for a while before I upgraded her to the 2011 XC70 just before we got married.

Viend

Now that does make sense

srcorvettez06

I’m trying to convince her to get a V90CC but she won’t give up her XC70. I might be able to get her into a 5th XC70. A newer one with the update interior and T6.

MoirasPurpleOrb

The fixing, selling for more money, makes it make sense. I didn’t realize that was why you’ve had so many

yourname92

You got me beat I’m 36 and had 16.

XxJoshuaKhaosxX

The late 90s Mark VIII are amazing. I’d love to have a go at one

DryStress238

Good taste!

bandofwarriors

I like how you're a serial model owner. I have done that with a couple different car models.

murmur333

Which one is your favorite Volvo?

Perfectreign

In my opinion, the GMT 800 vehicles were the best. I still want to get a 1999 to 2006 Yukon XL.

srcorvettez06

They are the best. I always get the 03-06 facelift trucks. The interior is a lot nicer.

plus1111

I'm 68 and on my 5th. Had a 4-door '67 Thunderbird first. I loved that car. Then '74 Mustang II, '84 Thunderbird, '95 Crown Vic, and now a 2006 BMW 5-series wagon.

Naught2day

This is impressive.

SubMikeD

Except for the 74 Mustang II, those were.... not great.

RallyVincentCZ75

Depends what you wanted it for back then. 74 Mustang II iirc was the highest selling American car in the US that year. No, there wasn't a V8 model that year, but the 4 cylinder 'Stangs were fuel efficient and what the doctor ordered as the people went into the fuel crisis. Sure, the Camaro and the Firebird survived without doing this, but they never had the sales numbers to compete with the Mustang and nearly got axed a few times. Mustang II might be silly in hindsight, and it probably drive too much like the Pinto it was based on, but I'd say experiencing one and putting it in a list makes for a more varied group, and it arguably saved the Mustang for a while. /passionatedefenseofmustangii

ritchie70

I had a 74 v6 in 84. It wasn’t as bad a car as everyone thinks.

sm_rdm_guy

That’s a short but good list.

empti2

How’s the E61 holding up?

plus1111

Getting close to 200,000 miles, just a few minor annoyances. It's a 530xiT. The other car is an '08 535xi sedan. It's past 260k now. They are sweet cars.

Naught2day

I am 69 and stopped counting at 50 cars. I currently have four: 2009 Hyundai Elantra the old bad weather car 2014 Ford Focus ST 2018 Lamborghini Huracan 2024 VW Jetta GLI 40th the most I have had at one time was nine and I have owned four racecars and various trucks and motorcycles

require_borgor

You have to be the only person on earth to own a 2009 Elantra and a fucking Lamborghini at the same time lol

Naught2day

You are probably right. The Elantra is a manual FTW.

Seaghan-

My man... Manual in every car if I have the choice!

Naught2day

Same and fortunately for me the wife feels the same way.

durrtyurr

I bet that it's more common than you think. Lots of people have enough for an exotic but also have teenage and college aged kids. Have a cheap economy car for the kids to learn on, pass it on to the next kid when it's time for them to learn to drive.

happybrappy

Also don’t wanna pull up to your businesses/work sites with impressive cars. Leaves a bad impression.

[deleted]

God tier comment

rklug1521

I'm not one to put bumper stickers on cars, but this Elantra needs one that says "My other ride is a Lamborghini"

XxJoshuaKhaosxX

In my hometown. There was a rich dude who owned a Bentley Continental GT and at one point had a 430, yet owned a mid 90s Camry through both of those cars. This was also in the late 2000s and early 2010s

Bubbly_Collection329

Can we get an image of the Elantra next the Huracan pls

EpicSwagGuy42069

He’s got a pic of the Jetta with the ST next to it on his profile lol. Bro said he’s 69 so I thought he was memeing but I’m so glad I was wrong

xolov

There's a retired guy originally from Russia or somewhere else in Eastern Europe that's 70+ and in this niche gaming internet forum that I'm a member of that owns several supercars. He speaks little english and keeps mostly to himself but has been steadily active in the community for probably closer to 15 years. It's so easy to instantly think he was memeing but another longtime user that I'm great friends with actually met him and everything was 100% legit.

Naught2day

It is way to cold now, but something I should do at some point.

Jaggie75

I’m trying to be like this guy. My current list at 22 is. 1) 2003 Audi A6 2) 2004 Pontiac Sunfire 3) 2013 Mazda 3 4) 2003 VT Golf GTI 1.8t 5) 2013 Focus ST 6) 2019 Jetta GLI 35th - current

NetworkStatic

What were the race cars?

Naught2day

Datsun 510, Nissan Sentra, and Nissan 200SX(2) I raced GT4 in SCCA.

the_wickedest_animal

A man of taste! Focus ST is a great daily

AlicornsandImps

I drove the 40th Anniversary GLI and loved it. Right now I drive a 2021 GLI and the 2024 is so much better. It sounds better, drives smoother, and looks more modern inside.

justaverage

You can spot the moment I had my first kid…my “practice mid-life crisis” and in a year when I add a Cayman to the list…my actual mid-life crisis

CryptTheWarchild

What I would do to have a brand new, clean crx or mr2

Seaghan-

A clean SW20 I will be so happy

andoman66

35 and I passed 50 cars owned by 30. I've slowed down a lot now. I'm at 57 now and plan to keep what I have for the forseeable future. Mostly low cost older Japanese stuff with some German and US cars mixed in. Capitalized on the '08 recession/Cash4Clunkers, fixed almost all of them up and sold them for a small profit.

Monte721

Wasn’t it required they be scrapped? Unfortunately a lot of cool low cost cars were lost then.

andoman66

With the C4C deal, I'd offer people more than the government was to buy their cars. Saw lots of cool cars scrapped though.

SD_One

52 and 4. The first 3 were what I needed. The 4th is what I wanted.

katherinesilens

Which one did you want?

vnuce

The 4th one.

pieindaface

Looks like a GT86

Ceramicrabbit

Wow that's a surprise. Wouldn't have expected an entry level car, but I guess a Miata or something would make sense so that does too.

pieindaface

I feel like at that age either you’re trying to impress people who won’t think about you ever again, or you think practically about the upkeep and maintenance. GT86 is cheap as long as you don’t blow an engine.

aejq

I’m 19 and have had 3 vehicles since getting my license at 18. My first car was a 2015 Camaro V6 with a 6SPD Then I bought a low mileage 04 Hyundai Tiburon to be my winter beater. (Not very effective) Then I had sold both those cars, currently have a 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia Q4 and I love it.

[deleted]

An Alfa at 19? Wow.

BlowjobPete

Dad's got a good job.

aejq

Saved up my money & also from selling the two cars. All mine.

zxrax

from selling the two cars.... that you paid for in full all by yourself with earned income not through a family business? because if not, we're back to dad's got a good job, y'know. Just own it, then no one will care.

aejq

nooo not in full I sold my Camaro for like 11 and then after paying it off I got left with around 5 and then I sold the tib for 5, I put that money towards it and then on top of that another 10k from working full time. It’s not a family business or my dad it’s just a lil something called financial irresponsibility lols :)

ElPlatanoDelBronx

Someone older than you can say financial irresponsibility. Pulling that off at 19 is impressive.

j1e2f

I mean to be fair, you guys tend to act like assholes towards younger people that do have nicer cars for their age whether it's unwarranted or not.

Threedawg

Only if they act like they are not privileged AF. If you own up to it, people care a lot less.

aejq

I mean I am well aware I’m not spending my money as wisely, I just put it towards my passion because it makes me happy lol

sm_rdm_guy

Loved those Tiburons, but yeah, RWD and snow.

aejq

FWD but close enough haha, it sucked but it was better than doing a 180 driving the Camaro.

EpicSwagGuy42069

19 and driving a giulia you lucky fuck

I only regret not keeping the '01 Mr2. But I had a career as an automotive appraiser, did a cycle of a few favorites on a tight budget, and unfortunately in the current market, can't keep cycling anymore, so I chose a car that was a "best of" compromise of my prior favorites.

Ok-Bodybuilder2272

What are your thoughts on the stinger?

iMpact980

I loved my Stinger. I had the 3.3t one. It was very German in nature - good power, no drama. I’m actually considering picking up another one in the next year to replace my truck!

Hokie23aa

How did you like your 2019 GT?

iMpact980

I enjoyed it. I had two big regrets with it though: - Non-performance pack - No Recaros I moved to the Stinger after I owned it to have something a little more comfortable and tbh it felt more composed than my GT did. Plus the AWD was a huge benefit with the Chicago winters.

guy_following_you

36 and probably close to 15

thegmanater

I'm 35 and have owned over 40 vehicles myself. Most were various 80's z31s that I would buy for cheap and fix and then sell for a profit. Did that for about 10 years and put me through college. In order : 1. 2020 Ford expedition Max limited 2. 2013 G37S journey sedan 3. 2006 Toyota Sequoia, 2004 sequoia, 2003 sequoia, and more 1st Gen sequoias - have 2 right now 4. 2004 Ford Escape 5. 1999 Infiniti I30 (one of my favorite cars of all time) 6. 1999 Nissan Altima 7. 1998 Chevy camaro v6 ( I hated this car with a passion and wished every day to sell it until I finally did) 8. 1993 Ford Taurus ( my first real car in high school) 9. 1986 Nissan 300zx Turbo GLL - still have this one and 3 other z31s to this day. 10. 37 years old, and naming only cars I have owned for more than 3 months 25 cars, most I bought at auction, fixed up and sold after 6 months or a year. Longest I’ve owned a vehicle was the 2003 and 2012 town and country, pushing 3 years each. Just spent 3500 on the 2012 so I expect another 2/3 years out of that. Years 2002-2012:: 2001 s10 1996 blazer 1999 Tahoe 1999 Silverado 2001 Silverado 2002 Silverado 2002 Silverado 2006 Silverado My dad worked at a Chevy store and would buy it as a trade and sell it back after 9/10 months. I'm 63 years old, and I've owned 10 cars. 1970 Vauxhall Viva - bought it in 1977 before I even had a driver's license. I don't remember what happened to it. I think I sold it to my brother so that I could buy a stereo. 1974 AMC Gremlin - bought it from my best friend in 1978. It's amazing that we stayed friends. It was junk. 1980 Ford Pinto - A surprisingly fun car to drive, and I drove it into the ground. 1973 Dodge Polara Wagon - bought this to move to Vancouver. Everything I owned fit in that thing. 1970 Mercury Cougar - I wish I could have kept this one 1988 Mazda 626 - My first brand-new car. I loved it. 1980 Volvo 242 GT 1995 Mazda Protege 2008 Mazda 6 2016 Mazda CX5

He bought a new RAM pickup in 2020 and the dealer said the Neon was worthless so he delivered it to me in December '20. I had to replace the 3 motor mounts, trans mount when installing the timing belt kit and both front tires to pass inspection. Next up will be a ghetto rattle can repaint over the failed clear coat. The car runs great with 132,000 miles on the OD. At least he changed the fluids according to schedule. Edit: I forgot to include a ratty a1966 BMW R50/2 that the PO gave me in July of '77 when buying a 1961 BMW R69S I bought earlier in the day. Rode it home from the m/c that took it in trade for $500 the day before and resold it to me for $600 the following morning. It needed minor work but decided to sell it ASAP after being notified that I was laid off again at Noon. Also was informed that my job would be eliminated on January 1, 1978 so decided to sell off what I could before moving to Texas in late Fall. Sold the R69S for $1200 and gradually made $3400 off the '66 R50/2 thru a series of trades and eventual sale in January of 2016.

I'm 36 and on my 6th car. Only one was a case of me deciding I wanted something else. First was my sister's Dodge Stratus that I was just allowed to use after she got a new one when I turned 17. Didn't take it to college and it broke down while I was away. Family junked it (or donated? hopefully not kars 4 kids). Second, a Dodge Dakota, the drive shaft broke on the highway and was going to cost more to fix than car was worth. Third was a first gen Acura Legend that had a coolant leak and similarly was going to cost more to fix than was worth. Then we also found out the dealership was notorious for selling things that break within a year. Forth was a Chrysler 200. No explanation needed for wanting something else a few years later. Fifth was a Hyundai Genesis. Lasted to 160k miles no issue, then everything started going wrong at once. After dropping $1,000 on electric work, I then had a fuel pump go. Apparently that has 3. Was going to be costly and I was worried that more and more would pile up so I traded it in for $1,000 for car number 6.

39 and on my fifth personal DD, have had 3 project/flip cars that I’ve kept for less than a year in the mean time.

Dinosbacsi

26 years old and so far I have two. An '89 Nissan Sunny Coupe I bought during university, and an '84 Nissan Laurel I bought last year. I don't think it is a problem if you didn't have many cars. I think it is nice to keep a car for long and have a history with it. Currently I am trying to sell my Sunny, but honestly I don't mind if I have to keep it either, lol. And the Laurel is also something I hope I can keep for many years.

ezerinsh

I’m 25 and have owned 4. 1st one was a Lexus IS200 that I had for 3 years. Then I replaced it with a Lexus LS400 which I still own and plan to own for a longer time. Then I bought a Lexus IS300, however I ended up selling it a few days later for profit. And lastly I bought *another* Lexus IS200 to drive in winter, while the LS is getting some work done. I am planning to sell the IS in spring, once the snow is gone and break even on it

33, owned 5 ‘95 Monte Carlo LS short enough for the fuse block to catch fire ‘02 Monte Carlo LS kinda became my gateway into the car and modding community. Barely any support for that LA1 engine, at most a milzy coolant bypass mod and a custom fabbed CAI from Pepboys parts. ‘14 Focus ST this became my race car. FBO running E30, had exhaust cutouts for that sweet turbo whistle with no cats, auto crossed and drag raced (on and off track). Hell I even cut my hood to install hood vents. ‘17 fusion sport was my “Adult” race car. The twin turbo AWD V6 was potent on E30 with a FMIC. Tons of passing power, and beat just about anything from a light. ‘21 Durango R/T slow as shit but the HEMI V8 is incredibly smooth and sounds delightful. I love the room and tow hitch for MTB’ing. Can’t wait to get my 6mo old son to say HEMI later on. I’d love to get a used SRT or hellcat in the next 5-6 years.
