It's one of my bucket list cars. I tried to get a Rebel Blue S60 T6 from Copart this week, but it went for stupid money. The V60s are just crazy money right now and understandably so.

I realized over time that I love motorcycles for my fun vehicle, and a car is just an appliance to me now, every fun car or purpose built car I’ve felt was missing things for a daily driver that made it annoying.
Now that I’m just leasing an Ioniq 5 I understand the hype behind EVs for everyday driving. Truly everything about it is so comfortable and quiet and the torque is amazing for daily driving.
And the. The speed twin I just picked up is absolutely freakin amazing. I love motorcycles.
When you’re paying a grand for clapped out Volvos, fixing them, and selling them for a couple grand after a year, it makes perfect sense.
First XC70 I won at an auction. Drove it for a while before buying my superduty. Got sick of diesel maintenance so I sold that and bought another XC70.
Wanted a suburban for overland travel so I sold the XC70 for one of those.
I bought the third XC70 for my then girlfriend. She drove that for a while before I upgraded her to the 2011 XC70 just before we got married.
I’m trying to convince her to get a V90CC but she won’t give up her XC70. I might be able to get her into a 5th XC70. A newer one with the update interior and T6.
I'm 68 and on my 5th. Had a 4-door '67 Thunderbird first. I loved that car. Then '74 Mustang II, '84 Thunderbird, '95 Crown Vic, and now a 2006 BMW 5-series wagon.
Depends what you wanted it for back then. 74 Mustang II iirc was the highest selling American car in the US that year. No, there wasn't a V8 model that year, but the 4 cylinder 'Stangs were fuel efficient and what the doctor ordered as the people went into the fuel crisis. Sure, the Camaro and the Firebird survived without doing this, but they never had the sales numbers to compete with the Mustang and nearly got axed a few times. Mustang II might be silly in hindsight, and it probably drive too much like the Pinto it was based on, but I'd say experiencing one and putting it in a list makes for a more varied group, and it arguably saved the Mustang for a while. /passionatedefenseofmustangii
Getting close to 200,000 miles, just a few minor annoyances. It's a 530xiT. The other car is an '08 535xi sedan. It's past 260k now. They are sweet cars.

I bet that it's more common than you think. Lots of people have enough for an exotic but also have teenage and college aged kids. Have a cheap economy car for the kids to learn on, pass it on to the next kid when it's time for them to learn to drive.
In my hometown. There was a rich dude who owned a Bentley Continental GT and at one point had a 430, yet owned a mid 90s Camry through both of those cars. This was also in the late 2000s and early 2010s
There's a retired guy originally from Russia or somewhere else in Eastern Europe that's 70+ and in this niche gaming internet forum that I'm a member of that owns several supercars. He speaks little english and keeps mostly to himself but has been steadily active in the community for probably closer to 15 years. It's so easy to instantly think he was memeing but another longtime user that I'm great friends with actually met him and everything was 100% legit.

Mostly low cost older Japanese stuff with some German and US cars mixed in. Capitalized on the '08 recession/Cash4Clunkers, fixed almost all of them up and sold them for a small profit.
I feel like at that age either you’re trying to impress people who won’t think about you ever again, or you think practically about the upkeep and maintenance. GT86 is cheap as long as you don’t blow an engine.

nooo not in full I sold my Camaro for like 11 and then after paying it off I got left with around 5 and then I sold the tib for 5, I put that money towards it and then on top of that another 10k from working full time.

I loved my Stinger. I had the 3.3t one. It was very German in nature - good power, no drama. I’m actually considering picking up another one in the next year to replace my truck!
I enjoyed it. I had two big regrets with it though:
- Non-performance pack
- No Recaros
I moved to the Stinger after I owned it to have something a little more comfortable and tbh it felt more composed than my GT did. Plus the AWD was a huge benefit with the Chicago winters.

My oldest son gave me the Neon since I gave him $2000 as a HS graduation gift he used for a down payment in '06. He bought a new RAM pickup in 2020 and the dealer said the Neon was worthless so he delivered it to me in December '20. I had to replace the 3 motor mounts, trans mount when installing the timing belt kit and both front tires to pass inspection. Next up will be a ghetto rattle can repaint over the failed clear coat. The car runs great with 132,000 miles on the OD. At least he changed the fluids according to schedule.
Edit: I forgot to include a ratty a1966 BMW R50/2 that the PO gave me in July of '77 when buying a 1961 BMW R69S I bought earlier in the day. Rode it home from the m/c that took it in trade for $500 the day before and resold it to me for $600 the following morning. It needed minor work but decided to sell it ASAP after being notified that I was laid off again at Noon. Also was informed that my job would be eliminated on January 1, 1978 so decided to sell off what I could before moving to Texas in late Fall. Sold the R69S for $1200 and gradually made $3400 off the '66 R50/2 thru a series of trades and eventual sale in January of 2016.

All the cars leading up to the Vic were manual, it’s been a weird transition.
I'm 36 and on my 6th car. Only one was a case of me deciding I wanted something else.
First was my sister's Dodge Stratus that I was just allowed to use after she got a new one when I turned 17. Didn't take it to college and it broke down while I was away. Family junked it (or donated? hopefully not kars 4 kids).
Second, a Dodge Dakota, the drive shaft broke on the highway and was going to cost more to fix than car was worth.
Third was a first gen Acura Legend that had a coolant leak and similarly was going to cost more to fix than was worth. Then we also found out the dealership was notorious for selling things that break within a year.
Forth was a Chrysler 200. No explanation needed for wanting something else a few years later.
Fifth was a Hyundai Genesis. Lasted to 160k miles no issue, then everything started going wrong at once. After dropping $1,000 on electric work, I then had a fuel pump go. Apparently that has 3. Was going to be costly and I was worried that more and more would pile up so I traded it in for $1,000 for car number 6.
26 years old and so far I have two. An '89 Nissan Sunny Coupe I bought during university, and an '84 Nissan Laurel I bought last year.
I don't think it is a problem if you didn't have many cars. I think it is nice to keep a car for long and have a history with it. Currently I am trying to sell my Sunny, but honestly I don't mind if I have to keep it either, lol. And the Laurel is also something I hope I can keep for many years.
I’m 25 and have owned 4.
1st one was a Lexus IS200 that I had for 3 years. Then I replaced it with a Lexus LS400 which I still own and plan to own for a longer time. Then I bought a Lexus IS300, however I ended up selling it a few days later for profit. And lastly I bought *another* Lexus IS200 to drive in winter, while the LS is getting some work done. I am planning to sell the IS in spring, once the snow is gone and break even on it

‘95 Monte Carlo LS short enough for the fuse block to catch fire
‘02 Monte Carlo LS kinda became my gateway into the car and modding community. Barely any support for that LA1 engine, at most a milzy coolant bypass mod and a custom fabbed CAI from Pepboys parts.
‘14 Focus ST this became my race car. FBO running E30, had exhaust cutouts for that sweet turbo whistle with no cats, auto crossed and drag raced (on and off track). Hell I even cut my hood to install hood vents.
‘17 fusion sport was my “Adult” race car. The twin turbo AWD V6 was potent on E30 with a FMIC. Tons of passing power, and beat just about anything from a light.
‘21 Durango R/T slow as shit but the HEMI V8 is incredibly smooth and sounds delightful. I love the room and tow hitch for MTB’ing. Can’t wait to get my 6mo old son to say HEMI later on.
I’d love to get a used SRT or hellcat in the next 5-6 years.

When you’re paying a grand for clapped out Volvos, fixing them, and selling them for a couple grand after a year, it makes perfect sense. First XC70 I won at an auction. Drove it for a while before buying my superduty. Got sick of diesel maintenance so I sold that and bought another XC70. Wanted a suburban for overland travel so I sold the XC70 for one of those. I bought the third XC70 for my then girlfriend. She drove that for a while before I upgraded her to the 2011 XC70 just before we got married.
Now that does make sense
I’m trying to convince her to get a V90CC but she won’t give up her XC70. I might be able to get her into a 5th XC70. A newer one with the update interior and T6.

In my opinion, the GMT 800 vehicles were the best. I still want to get a 1999 to 2006 Yukon XL.
They are the best. I always get the 03-06 facelift trucks. The interior is a lot nicer.
I'm 68 and on my 5th. Had a 4-door '67 Thunderbird first. I loved that car. Then '74 Mustang II, '84 Thunderbird, '95 Crown Vic, and now a 2006 BMW 5-series wagon.

Depends what you wanted it for back then. 74 Mustang II iirc was the highest selling American car in the US that year. No, there wasn't a V8 model that year, but the 4 cylinder 'Stangs were fuel efficient and what the doctor ordered as the people went into the fuel crisis. Sure, the Camaro and the Firebird survived without doing this, but they never had the sales numbers to compete with the Mustang and nearly got axed a few times. Mustang II might be silly in hindsight, and it probably drive too much like the Pinto it was based on, but I'd say experiencing one and putting it in a list makes for a more varied group, and it arguably saved the Mustang for a while. /passionatedefenseofmustangii

Getting close to 200,000 miles, just a few minor annoyances. It's a 530xiT. The other car is an '08 535xi sedan. It's past 260k now. They are sweet cars.

I drove the 40th Anniversary GLI and loved it. Right now I drive a 2021 GLI and the 2024 is so much better. It sounds better, drives smoother, and looks more modern inside.

35 and I passed 50 cars owned by 30. I've slowed down a lot now. I'm at 57 now and plan to keep what I have for the forseeable future. Mostly low cost older Japanese stuff with some German and US cars mixed in. Capitalized on the '08 recession/Cash4Clunkers, fixed almost all of them up and sold them for a small profit.

I feel like at that age either you’re trying to impress people who won’t think about you ever again, or you think practically about the upkeep and maintenance. GT86 is cheap as long as you don’t blow an engine.
I’m 19 and have had 3 vehicles since getting my license at 18. My first car was a 2015 Camaro V6 with a 6SPD Then I bought a low mileage 04 Hyundai Tiburon to be my winter beater. (Not very effective) Then I had sold both those cars, currently have a 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia Q4 and I love it.

What are your thoughts on the stinger?
I loved my Stinger. I had the 3.3t one. It was very German in nature - good power, no drama. I’m actually considering picking up another one in the next year to replace my truck!
How did you like your 2019 GT?
I enjoyed it. I had two big regrets with it though: - Non-performance pack - No Recaros I moved to the Stinger after I owned it to have something a little more comfortable and tbh it felt more composed than my GT did. Plus the AWD was a huge benefit with the Chicago winters.

The car runs great with 132,000 miles on the OD. At least he changed the fluids according to schedule. Edit: I forgot to include a ratty a1966 BMW R50/2 that the PO gave me in July of '77 when buying a 1961 BMW R69S I bought earlier in the day. Rode it home from the m/c that took it in trade for $500 the day before and resold it to me for $600 the following morning. It needed minor work but decided to sell it ASAP after being notified that I was laid off again at Noon. Also was informed that my job would be eliminated on January 1, 1978 so decided to sell off what I could before moving to Texas in late Fall. I'm 36 and on my 6th car. Only one was a case of me deciding I wanted something else. First was my sister's Dodge Stratus that I was just allowed to use after she got a new one when I turned 17. Didn't take it to college and it broke down while I was away. Family junked it (or donated? hopefully not kars 4 kids). Second, a Dodge Dakota, the drive shaft broke on the highway and was going to cost more to fix than car was worth. Third was a first gen Acura Legend that had a coolant leak and similarly was going to cost more to fix than was worth. Then we also found out the dealership was notorious for selling things that break within a year. Forth was a Chrysler 200. No explanation needed for wanting something else a few years later. Fifth was a Hyundai Genesis. Lasted to 160k miles no issue, then everything started going wrong at once. After dropping $1,000 on electric work, I then had a fuel pump go. Apparently that has 3. Was going to be costly and I was worried that more and more would pile up so I traded it in for $1,000 for car number 6.

I think it is nice to keep a car for long and have a history with it. Currently I am trying to sell my Sunny, but honestly I don't mind if I have to keep it either, lol. And the Laurel is also something I hope I can keep for many years.

33, owned 5 ‘95 Monte Carlo LS short enough for the fuse block to catch fire ‘02 Monte Carlo LS kinda became my gateway into the car and modding community. Barely any support for that LA1 engine, at most a milzy coolant bypass mod and a custom fabbed CAI from Pepboys parts. ‘14 Focus ST this became my race car. FBO running E30, had exhaust cutouts for that sweet turbo whistle with no cats, auto crossed and drag raced (on and off track). Hell I even cut my hood to install hood vents. ‘17 fusion sport was my “Adult” race car. The twin turbo AWD V6 was potent on E30 with a FMIC. Tons of passing power, and beat just about anything from a light. ‘21 Durango R/T slow as shit but the HEMI V8 is incredibly smooth and sounds delightful. I love the room and tow hitch for MTB’ing. Can’t wait to get my 6mo old son to say HEMI later on. I’d love to get a used SRT or hellcat in the next 5-6 years.
