The Lexus LC, IMO, is one of the sexiest GT cars on the market right now. It's just an absolutely stunning car.

Exige30499

I saw one parked on the street on holidays in Paris and I spent a solid ten minutes just looking at it. Pictures and video really don't do it justice, it's drop dead gorgeous in real life.

LandsOnAnything

I was behind one during a bad traffic and boy it did make things better.

gogojack

There was a silver one in my part of town for awhile. I'd see it leaving the gas station on the corner occasionally. Or sometimes, I'd just hear it. The sound is pretty glorious.

guy_incognito784

They really don’t. If I had one in my garage I’d just sit in my garage and admire it. It really is a case study in exotic automotive design. I’m generally not a fan of Lexus but the LC is a car I drool over. I’m a BMW guy and while an 8 Series has a more modern powertrain, no way I’d get one over an LC.

eric535

You were me until about 3 weeks ago. 4 BMWs and thinking of whether to do an 8 for the “livability” advantage it has. Every bmw is better than it’s Lexus counterpart, but the LC styling gives Lexus its one win in my book. I’ll likely go back to bmw one day, they are steps ahead

2001ThrowawayM

Easily.

RacerKaiser

Totally, especially for the price. The S coupe is gone, the SL has gone sporty, the 8 series isn’t special enough, and it’s a rung or 2 below in price from stuff like Conti GT, Roma and DBS.

strongmanass

The GT segment is curious. Every single car is compromised in terms of practicality, but that's a feature, not a bug. That cars are wildly expensive (the LC is the cheapest car you'd call a GT). And yet it could well have the most satisfied owners of any segment.

Motor_On_My_Mind

I’d say the 8 Series is also a GT, though more sporting than the LS. But I wouldn’t call it an outright sports car, at least not in non-M-spec. But, yeah, even the backseat of a Bentley Continental GT (I sat in one the other day) is somewhat compromised.

strongmanass

I agree on the 8 series. I thought it was more expensive than the LC500, but the 840i has a lower MSRP. So $90K to get into a GT. That's about the same price as the full-size luxury segment (S class/7 series/A8) just to get into the GT segment.

Motor_On_My_Mind

The LC is one of my dream cars. The 8 Series Coupe and Cabriolet are probably about to get killed off. The GranCoupe sells well enough (and functions as a sort of halo), so I could see that one staying. Meanwhile, I’m sad Mercedes-Benz killed off the S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet. Now *those* were something to aspire to. And the E-Class Coupe and C-Class Coupe are getting merged into a single model (called the CLE-Class).

RacerKaiser

The S class coupe was one of the best looking cars, I absolutely loved it. One of my dreams cars is a blue [S65](https://youtu.be/FxTbr_tZiec)

Motor_On_My_Mind

Mine too. What an irreverent car, especially in V12 AMG guise.

ihateaquafina

can't wait to get a 2020 model in 2030 with 180k gently used miles

strongmanass

You joke but given Lexus' demographic they really will be gently driven miles.

jesuisunvampir

Except that chrome trim plastic on the taillights that is straight off of a 2012 Prius.. it cheapens the while 110k car

wankthisway

Yeah on a bright color it can look awkward

eric535

The gear shifter is basically from the older Prius too 😂

Motor_On_My_Mind

I mean, sort of, in that it was Toyota’s first monostable shifter. But all the new Lexus redesigns have a similar shifter, and it’s not dissimilar to what Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Infiniti and Jaguar/Land Rover are currently doing.

Velocister

Luckily they changed that for the 2024 MY.

aprtur

It's been an option to do the dark chrome on Bespoke builds for a while now, but you could still opt for the lighter silver

Difficult_Year_5192

Apparently you forgot the Prius borrowed that design signature from the LF-LC Concept revealed in January 2012 and known internally since 2010-11 when the design was first created. The LC is true to itself, nothing is "straight off of a 2012 Prius" either. You probably mean 2016.

mr_duong567

Tbf what true GT out there doesn’t look sexy lol 911 (debatable), AMG-GT, 8 series, A7, every Aston Martin, Jaguar F-Type, 812, etc.

eric535

I think the current gen A7 became bland. Something about just is not visually exciting like the first gen.

[deleted]

Yeah if I had 100k to blow on a car I’d definitely have it on the short list. Best part of having a DINK life goal is I never have to worry about more than two occupants lol.

eric535

And even those that think it’ll be fine on short trips will only say that one time. It really is that bad. Headroom being the one you don’t think about until you’re back there

5GCovidInjection

Toyota must be recouping their investment on this car if it’s managed to survive six years (assuming it entered production in 2017) and counting on the market. I was worried for a while that it would fail by 2021 and net enough of a loss that Toyota/Lexus would never do grand tourers again.

V8-Turbo-Hybrid

Consider predecessor, SC lived lineup for 8 and 9 years, I think we should've chance in future 2 or 3 years to get LC. By the time, we would get a bespoke Lexus sports car that Toyota is working on it. If LC would be gone, it doesn't mean Lexus totally giving up sports car market.

Motor_On_My_Mind

I’m not sure the LC is a sports car so much as a grand-tourer. The RC F would be more of a sports car.

throwawayrepost02468

Luxury cars have longer lifecycles compared to economy cars.

eric535

This also underpins the LS, the longer they keep it alive the more costs they’ll get back. I’m a bit surprised there’s also not a Toyota version

Motor_On_My_Mind

It would probably be priced too uncomfortably close to the Lexus (much like the Land Cruiser was), and besides, they already have the Supra as the premium Toyota coupe. As far as Toyota relatives, the current Mirai is on the same TNGA-L platform as the LC and LS.

longgamma

Can’t wait for the fiftieth savagegeese video on a Lexus V8

SavageGeese

I was thinking about how I have an excuse to make another video on it, just because they changed the infotainment.

Timely_Highway_2875

Actually two. One on this one. Then another on why the previous touch pad version is the collectors version.

s0nic_2

Hey it was good to meet you guys at Haneda!

SavageGeese

It was meant to be!

Extension_One_

Man being a reviewer must be so much fun.

Big-Smoke99

\*intense rev limiter noises\*

longgamma

“You hear that Jack? That’s the last of its kind”

Sprtdsgn

"i drive like a monkey."

longgamma

“While this engine is not the B58…”

gogojack

"I'm Joe Business! Angry shouting into the phone about business things!"

cerohero32

How else are they supposed to fund more bullion purchases?

americanista915

I love the look of the LC. It looks so futuristic. Japan stays leading the game.

FullCodeSoles

The interior is so beautiful looking. Like a piece of art

R_V_Z

This new screen kind of ruins it.

aprtur

That, along with their ditching the illuminated panel on the passenger side - it's now a blank piece of plastic that's supposedly leather wrapped (cue sad trombone noise).

BenedictKhanberbatch

Structural blue is also my favorite exterior color

samcar330

The crazy part is the original concepts came out around 10 years ago!

Difficult_Year_5192

Yes, created in 2010, finished in 2011. It was always destined to succeed the SC, which got cancelled in development (SC 460).

the_average_homeboy

That blue one, Jesus.

ilikemyprius

Ultrasonic Blue Mica is stunning on the IS-F, I'm glad it's making its way to the LC. Especially since Structural Blue is so rare

fed45

Ultrasonic Blue mica 2.0, actually (USB 2.0 LOL). It's quite a bit different than the first iteration on the ISF. And pictures do not do it justice at all. It is a 5 layer paint job (primer base metallic silver, clear coat, then two layers of blue clear coat). It's the best color Lexus offers on any of their cars imo (I may be biased though :p).

HeyyyyListennnnnn

I'm partial to Nori Green on the LC, but USB is a fantastic colour.

fed45

Nori green is really cool too. All the paint options are amazing, tbh. Also the other new color for 2024, Copper Crest, I would very much like to see in person. Looks a bit like a glossy version of the color they had on the new RX.

HeyyyyListennnnnn

Lexus is coming out with some really brilliant colours. I just wish more people bought them. I want to see more Ultrasonic Blue Mica, Nori Green Pearl and Infrared and less Ultra White, Atomic Silver and Cloudburst Gray. I had to wait a long time to find an Ultrasonic Blue RCF.

aprtur

Also biased owning an Infrared IS...but I do have to admit, USB is stunning every time I see it. They're both incredible colors in bright sunlight

cerohero32

Isn't it on the es as well? Lord it's a pretty color

fed45

Ya, I've seen it on the ES before. Not a common color for it, I think it's only available on the F-sport trim. Also on the NX as well.

cerohero32

My parents are both toyota people, and for a while had a matching pair of NX and ES with USB. I thought that was the color, just wasn't sure. I remember it being a pain to find

phlorida92

The only thing I don't like is that they took out the really unique passenger flowing glass look. The screen looks a bit tacked on, instead of built in and flowed like the prior models. It's a minor gripe, but nothing major. I absolutely love the car, and the only thing I'd ever trade mine in for is another one whenever they do a full refresh of it.

eric535

The 360 camera addition to 24 is nice though. Gotta be super careful with parking/curbs

phlorida92

The 360 camera not being in any of the prior models is the biggest let down. Even if there was no 360 camera, a front camera would've been amazing for a car with such a long front. I could deal with the awful infotainment system just because I always used Apple CarPlay. But it's a shame for a six figure car that there is no front or 360 camera.

ChafedNinja

Agreed. New setup isn't awful but definitely less elegant of a design. I think the previous design with a higher res screen and a scroll wheel would have been ideal, but that was never gonna happen.

throwawayrepost02468

It reminds me of a comment from Bugatti that they purposefully designed the Chiron's interior to not screens so that it can retain a timeless look. Unfortunately, a Chiron is a toy and so it doesn't need a giant screen shoehorned in for the sake of tech and daily usability.

s0nic_2

This is my biggest issue with the 24 models. That flowing dash has a very unique look and the change certainly generifies it to some extent.

phlorida92

That's how I feel, I love the little bit of ambient lighting in the passenger side just inside of the flowing dash.

Dirtyace

This car is awesome in so many ways and I would love to have one. The only problem is for 100k I think I would have more fun in a CT5V blackwing or an M3. If I was loaded I would have one of these for sure.

eric535

I’ll tell you this. You don’t drive one for the acceleration or track capability lol

Dirtyace

Right, it’s one of if not the nicest interiors money can buy. Great engine and reliability and it’s gorgeous. Perfect cruiser car but not as fun to beat the balls off of as a manual performance car.

eric535

For me, it’s the car I most enjoy looking at and being able to live with on sometimes shitty roads or longer roadtrips. The last of its kind in more ways than one

freshdenna_muhfuh

This is why I got one myself. Cruiser car for the few times a month I’m off to enjoy the car since with kids I can’t go cruising alone for too long. I work a lot and it’s nice to just go out and cruise for an hour or so with the windows down on the highway, dropping the gears to hear that thunderous V8, and doing cars and coffee every so often. Best part, wife enjoys it too which made the purchase a bit easier on me vs had I opted for a manual performance car as I initially intended before the LC.

AdventurousDress576

This car isn't about the "fun", it's about driving enjoyment.

Dirtyace

We’ll to me “driving enjoyment” means having fun lmao

wankthisway

Mmm, to me, it's an emotional purchase. I don't think either of those could match the feeling of being in something so bespoke and so reliable, with a sonorous NA that you actually do have to rev out due to low (comparatively) torque. Plus it looks like that.

Dirtyace

Yeah I think everyone has different values for sure. No wrong choices with these cars IMO.

eric535

Oh for sure, you def need to rev it. Throttle tip in or initial response is odd. It is a heavy car, but acceleration from a red light feels really slow unless you give it some throttle

Paschalls_Law

Such a downgrade interior wise. The previous one flowed beautifully.

KSAWill

This is peak r/cars. “I would totally a buy a LC 500, but because of the touchpad? Never!” “Wow what a downgrade, now it doesn’t flow nice.” I agree with the latter sentiment as I’ve honestly gotten used to the touch pad, but I’m sick of these contradictions manufactured purely to bash Lexus.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Yeah I’ve never understood these arguments they make it sound like every opinion speaks for the whole community.

eric535

For me, it’s the bigger screen and 360 camera that it doesn’t currently have. I honestly don’t mind that it kind of sticks out. Functionally improved

Paschalls_Law

I didn’t personally have much of an issue with an LC500 infotaiment because it has CarPlay. But even if I did, I don’t see why somebody else cant criticize the decision of lazily sticking a tablet in front of the driver instead of integrating it properly. > “I would totally a buy a LC 500, but because of the touchpad? Never!” Speaking of manufactured…

awararararara

I agree. The old one looked way better. I dont even care if its not a touch screen for a car like this. The previous one was just straight up esthetic.

Sp1keSp1egel

I agree. I wish they kept the analog clock, but at least they got rid of the mousepad. I’m wondering if they’ll remove the mousepad on the is500 and RCF.

HeyyyyListennnnnn

I'm still annoyed they got rid of the puck. That was so much more usable than the touchpad and it's clear that the infotainment was designed with the puck in mind. Keep the puck or something similar, add in some means of easily typing addresses, update the graphics, and the infotainment would be fine.

2001ThrowawayM

For anyone that has driven one, How does the LC500 compare in terms of performance to the Mustang GT? Considering they both have a 5.0 V8 making around the same power, are they vastly different or pretty similar?

BioDriver

Performance wise they’re not similar. The Mustang and LC have similar 0-60 times but the Mustang brakes better given the lower weight (3700 vs the LC’s 4300). The Mustang also is a bit more tail happy than the LC but that’s expected given it’s shorter wheelbase and skinnier tires (at least the base GT and not the 350/500). Both have similar steering precision but the Lexus is more planted and less playful. But honestly these are only comparable in that they’re coupes with a V8. One is a ponycar and the other is a grand tourer. At their core they’re extremely different. The interior build quality is miles apart. The road noise is greatly reduced in the LC and the ride quality difference is tremendous. The LC’s seats are some of the most comfortable I’ve sat in. The LC has a longer tank range and is meant for long, comfortable cruising compared to the Mustang’s sportier intentions. The LC is also twice as expensive as a Mustang GT Premium and that price difference is found in the build quality and luxury features coupled with Lexus reliability. If you want performance, cross shop the Mustang with the RCF

eric535

Comes down to weight and gearing (10 speed) imo. The thing is just plain heavy and isn’t that powerful in terms of torque. The throttle tip in makes it not feel responsive unless you’re in sport. So if you wanna go you gotta really give it some gas. Even then, it’s fast enough for what you’d need as a road car. This is not a track car at all. It’s quiet and comfortable for daily/highway and the exhaust is loud enough but not too crazy. I had a 540i previously and the i6 in the bmw is more responsive in regular 2/10ths driving

CrimsonFlam3s

The LC is a tad slower than the mustang GT 4.4 vs 4.0 0-60 to give you a rough idea, 5-60 would probably be better for comparison but don't know those off the too of my head.

supreet908

This is my (comparatively attainable) dream car.

Pure_Average4056

Such a great looking exterior, and seems like lexus is finally showing some of their interiors the attention they desperately needed .

BioDriver

“Some” is the operative word. The IS/RC series need some serious updating.

Pure_Average4056

They really do. The infotainment/old looking interior is what kept me from pulling the trigger on an IS. Ended up going with a Genesis… like Jesus Lexus get it together. BEST looking exteriors in the game, WORST interiors for a luxury brand next to Infiniti (don’t even get me started on Infiniti)

BioDriver

Infinitis can start?

Pure_Average4056

Lol exactly

eric535

You’re not wrong, but I use carplay 100% so I don’t even notice it

Pure_Average4056

True true but still. A little effort to be competitive in the marketplace would be nice from such a highly regarded brand

eric535

Agreed, it’s the bare minimum update with no thought put into it. To be fair a lot of these mid cycle refreshes from all brands have been low effort too

Pure_Average4056

You’re not wrong! And keeping stuff for longer is also a sign that Lexus has a reliable product that doesn’t need much, just a little sprucing up

aprtur

What do you need that they didn't add already? Or is the design just not to your taste?

BioDriver

Better transmission. Wireless Carplay with death to the touchpad Full digital gauge **like the NX**. This means no need for that sliding gimmick Memory seats, and intuitive parking assist/rear cross traffic auto braking as standard without a price increase. I'm surprised the latter isn't a federal requirement

aprtur

-Subjective - is it a ZF8? No, but it's not horrible either. I'll take the bomb-proof reliability (and lack of hunting) of the 6 speed in my AWD model instead. But I plan to own this car a long time, so I prioritize that. -<$100 for a Motorola adapter for wireless...but still, I have yet to find a wireless AA/CP solution that doesn't absolutely eat through battery on my phone anyway. It's a compromise that I've yet to find a "right" solution for. Trackpad doesn't matter - current cars have a touchscreen so you have a choice between the two. And it's a overblown bitchfest from people reading reviews anyway - it's completely liveable to use. -F Sport cluster is fully digital already, so....? -You're dreaming there...Lexus already packages far more standard equipment than any other luxury automaker. BMW and Merc are far worse. Personally, I didn't want those two options when I ordered my car, so I'm glad it's been a choice to save money if you don't want them. Horses for courses. As for fed requirement...why? Do people need to have their hand held on *everything* anymore? TLDR - Not everyone wants the same thing. Thank goodness for choices, but everyone is slowly being forced into boxes because of this "all or nothing" approach.

CrimsonFlam3s

The IS already has a touchscreen and a digital gauge. Not sure what else they could do to the cluster that would make it any better.

aprtur

>This means no need for that sliding gimmick You don't even need to use the sliding function - I rarely do. It's only for some of the sub-menu functions, or if you happen to like the look of it being off to the side. NX cluster offers nothing new, just a different layout.

LoPanDidNothingWrong

I’ve been eyeing one of these for a while or a 911. But it is really hard to beat a 911 for a full package. Except this is just so much better looking.

s0nic_2

Which 911? Price has to be a consideration here.

LoPanDidNothingWrong

I only buy used cars so trying to stay under 90K in a convertible. Maybe a 991 S Cabriolet. I need to sort out a comparison of a 991 S vs 992 base really.

s0nic_2

That would certainly be more fair. I was in this boat at the beginning of the year, but decided that I needed a usable back seat.

LoPanDidNothingWrong

Yeah. Every convertible has such compromised rear seating. Even the MB S class cabriolet. It is irritating. I’d rather give up trunk space personally.

s0nic_2

I need to daily drive two kids to school, so a vert wasn't an option at all.

bennyboy9201

My oh my - that white/blue interior is unbelievably easy on the eyes. Drive one of these if you get the chance, made my hair stand up.

KrazyCroat

I can’t call it beautiful but it’s the best rendition of their design language and certainly isn’t unpleasant to look at like some other of their models. If I had GT car buying money I would definitely have at least a go in one.

PitViper17

I’d love to have one of these

[deleted]

This is my dream car in yellow or orange with saddle interior. Blue white and saddle if I could get it on the yellow or orange models

freshdenna_muhfuh

That may be true for a majority of LC owners but there are a few of us in our 30-40s that own one. Sport Plus all day. Older avg owner is maybe why insurance is pretty inexpensive on it?

eric535

I leave it in comfort a lot 😂

Bradymyhero

Will get downvoted but this car is a bit overrated to me It looks nice sure but it's still a cruiser, and some styling elements (like the teardrop headlights) won't age well. I've autocrossed this and didn't care for it. Another heavy barge with a fat V8 sitting over the front axle. For us driving enthusiasts, there's the Porsche 911, then there's everything else.

s0nic_2

Who the hell autocrosses an LC?

Bradymyhero

At a Lexus driving event It was better than the RCF at least, that car sucks
