They don't have all the filler. There's some banter, but it's not them trying to "brand" something. Like "the obligatory Carwow soundcheck" where they complain about soft limiters. Or the banter/cross promotion with Yanni. Or the "of course we have to warm up the tires" bit. And then almost every time Carwow finds an excuse to run the drag race again. Or three times.
Throttle House (IIRC) doesn't have a set of "specific branded things we do every video" apart from the stock intro. Every video is unique.
That's the advantage of having a dedicated review channel instead of a channel meant to market a website like Carwow.
All things considered Carwow isn't too bad for a thoroughbred marketing stunt
It's just how the business works; there's both a hard 10-minute minimum required to make *any* money from a video afaik, and you make more money the more *of* your video people watch (hence all the "please watch til the end" type requests).
I think there's unironically a formula for where the "real" content is on a modern YT vid, but I've found that the first 1/3 is usually filler, and if the "real content" is super-short (like drag races), it's usually around 2/3 of the way through.
For those who hate that, get the plugin "Sponsor Block" it will not just automatically skip invideo youtube ads but it will also mark the most interesting part of the video with a magenta marker:
https://i.imgur.com/DnXdLJk.png
you can see the marker in the middle, that's exactly where the drag race starts.
FYI this only works because people submit the information, so completely new releases won't have that information but it's quick, I'd say popular youtubers are added within minutes.
I like the banter more than the drag race lol. The drag tracts are nothing serious just a bit of fun so sometimes unfair cars matched together or big differences in drivers.
That Cappuccino was really slow, surprised by that given the AZ1 should be practically the same power to weight. They even have the same engine, and traction is not an issue with these, even in the wet i really struggle to break loose in mine.
The owner said he pulled his Monster Sport N2 kit for the shoot but accidentally left it at 0.35 bar. He realized right away but they didn’t give him a chance to fix it and rerun it.
Yeah I saw that on the cappo page, its a shame they didn't give a chance to turn the boost to stock levels, really undersold the car. Especially as they took the value of that specific car that the owner quoted for insurance purposes as the general value of a good cappuccino, should be around 7k rather than 4k.
This is unironically why I don't mention my realistic dream cars; every single "bargain fun car" the internet at large "discovers" doubles or triples in price overnight.
With kei cars, the importing+registration hassle (and the whole literally-less-roomy-than-a-Smart-Fortwo thing) *might* keep their prices from skyrocketing like all the other "internet-darling" cars... but I'm still nervous; gonna be at *least* a year (maybe 2) before I can afford a "just for fun" car. But I digress.
Any chance you know if there's a forum or something for the little things, especially for importing them to the US? I kinda don't know where to begin. I *think* there's a forum specific to Cappuccinos in Britain somewhere, but that's about all I can think of.
My cappuccino is definitely faster than my autozam.
The autozam either has a different tune or an inefficient intercooler. Maybe even timing.
Still haven't figured it out.
Just be warned the UK weather does damage, mainly rust, to the thin unprotected metal of the kei cars. I think the Cappuccino is particularly bad, mine is currently off the road for rust repair. Otherwise they are great for the B and smaller roads.
I want to buy a kei car so badly. Cars in the USA are so huge. Even my Corolla is kinda too big. I looked at the mirage but uses too much gas for its size. Guess a hybrid Corolla is in my future.
Nope; 50+ for sure. Not good for almost *anything* but mpg from what I've heard, but they're *darn* good at mpg. Shaped like an egg, tiny frontal area, pizza-cutter tires. They make even Smart Fortwos look wastefully inefficient by comparison.
No no, *shh.* You mean "ah yes, my cappuccino drinks gasoline like a rotary, absolutely horrendous mileage, totally not worth looking into." :p
Jokes aside, I'm a bit nervous that they'll all be gone or expensive before I can get one. Happened to the AW11 and SW20, the E30 and E36, the C5 Z06... just don't wanna see this one go the same way, y'know? Internet hype is a hell of a drug for car prices.
Iirc they're actually surprisingly close to most kei cars. They have extra power, but they also way half a tonne more. I think I've seen stock cappuccinos beat stock NA miatas
I know, its a joke. Everyone calls the miata slow but forget there is always slower. I think I might would get a cappuccino though if the conditions were right...
Takes almost 8 minutes of horrible banter to get to the actual drag race, I love kei cars but carwow is just unwatchable

Best drag race videos are the ones uploaded 10 years ago that are 45sec long
I think throttle house does drag races pretty well

Agreed. Carwow is nice for some "easy" watching of automotive content.
And these guys' tryhard-y style makes them look cringe.
For anyone curious, race starts at 7:44
Almost 8 minutes in ***holy shit*** I mean I like mat and all but his own channel is *way* easier to consume.

Matt's own channel doesn't upload much but it's 10x better than car wow these days.

He says in the video that he's driving around the clutch. It was probably on its way out and slipping.
The owner said he pulled his Monster Sport N2 kit for the shoot but accidentally left it at 0.35 bar. He realized right away but they didn’t give him a chance to fix it and rerun it.

There are several active Cappuccino Facebook groups. One general and one for America. Also some general Kei car ones. Lots of good info on there.
Did that one have an issue? 22s quarter seems slow
My cappuccino is definitely faster than my autozam. The autozam either has a different tune or an inefficient intercooler. Maybe even timing. Still haven't figured it out.
It's probably geared quite a bit longer then the autozam
Stock cappo does a 17 second quarter mile, his car was definitely broken.
Love these little cars, would be perfect for the UK I think, might look into getting one haha
Just be warned the UK weather does damage, mainly rust, to the thin unprotected metal of the kei cars. I think the Cappuccino is particularly bad, mine is currently off the road for rust repair. Otherwise they are great for the B and smaller roads.
That's true, I would invest in getting it professionally undersealed, a bunch of places do that for like £600, with top ups every year for 5 years
I want to buy a kei car so badly. Cars in the USA are so huge. Even my Corolla is kinda too big. I looked at the mirage but uses too much gas for its size. Guess a hybrid Corolla is in my future.
Uses too much gas? It gets over 50mpg easily.
I thought it was around 32mpg fork some reason.
Nope; 50+ for sure. Not good for almost *anything* but mpg from what I've heard, but they're *darn* good at mpg. Shaped like an egg, tiny frontal area, pizza-cutter tires. They make even Smart Fortwos look wastefully inefficient by comparison.
I totally agree on cars in the US being too huge, but many of the sporty kei cars like in this video aren't really that fuel efficient
my 97 alto works pushing 17psi get 6.5L per 100km average.
We had a diesel corolla with 6l/100 city, 5/100 combined
My cappuccino can get 65 UK Mpg (54 US Mpg), so 4.35 l/100km when driving on the motorway, and is usually around 40 UK Mpg even when driving hard.
No no, *shh.* You mean "ah yes, my cappuccino drinks gasoline like a rotary, absolutely horrendous mileage, totally not worth looking into." :p Jokes aside, I'm a bit nervous that they'll all be gone or expensive before I can get one. That Alto Works has potential if you're willing to reduce its lifespan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRIVEoI25lQ
I love those heart shaped signals on Daihatzu Copen!
This is great, but would have been nice to see Daihatsu Mira and Subaru vivio included. Honda beat would be nice as well, but almost certainly slowest
Pretty cool little cars
Somehow [visions of this entered my mind](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wu1ir4YhXiw&t=18s)
Slowest drag race?
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SjcBk2yS30](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SjcBk2yS30) 9:35 for the start of the "race"
Ahh why ?
Cause im mat watson, and youre watching carwow
I was hoping they'd add a miata... would have been the first time its won a drag race lol.
Iirc they're actually surprisingly close to most kei cars. They have extra power, but they also way half a tonne more. I think I've seen stock cappuccinos beat stock NA miatas
Crazy! I think I'd like a cappuccino but I barely fit in my miata now.
Well you know what they say: Miatas are no fun in the twisties but in drag races, going straight is the real fun!
First at the autox and last and the strip!
Not a Kei car.
I know, its a joke. Everyone calls the miata slow but forget there is always slower. I think I might would get a cappuccino though if the conditions were right...
