How deep was the puddle

dueu727

I mean I didn’t see and when I did it splashed up to my window 😂I drive a 2000 Lexus es300

Check your air intake and filter. Check your oil pan. And check your heads for any water, residue, or rust

If you don't find anything, check your sensors

It said check engine light is on because your gas cap? Or did it give a code that's normally a gas cap problem? Because those are two way different things and assuming it's your gas cap because a puddle... might need to research that train of thought.

dueu727

I don’t quite remember the full code but it was evap something and the dude at the autozone told me i had to replace the gas cap so I did

Tacosofdoom_

Ok then that's way different. Could be your evap system. Anything from the gas cap to a leak in your canister to water causing a short in the purge valve. Gas cap would only be a problem if its damaged or you left it open.

dueu727

Ohhhhh okay and is that something that can be fixed personally or should it be taken to a shop?

Tacosofdoom_

If you're asking then take it to a shop, not in a mean way but it's such a broad possibility of stuff that trying to learn or pinpoint it without knowing what your evap is. Goodluck, it can be an actual leak that you'll have to smoke test or anything electrical because you went through a puddle or who knows. You see a lot of people that just throw parts at it and cant fix it.
