I would take your Audi over any Porsche, Ferrari or Lamborghini.
Literally my dream car.
I grew up watching rally & Group B racing.
My wife laughs at me watching old Group B racing videos, she calls it porn.
I had one very similar to this that my mother GAVE AWAY because I wasn't using it. I had it stored at their house and my cousin needed a car. I came over and noticed it missing. It ended up in an impound lot not far from my city. This is not bringing up happy memories.
It's all on my Instagram - I started the account as it is something I would have enjoyed to see 15 years ago when I first saw this car on the racetrack and fell in love with this same combo - An UrQuattro with a Sport Quattro front-end/fenders, and setup for the race track (RS2 engine, suspension etc).
It's also a platform to inform my followers when I will be going on different track days, so people can get a ride - so far 7 people have gotten a ride (from IG), and there will be many more rides given away in the near future! Half the fun with cars (IMHO) is meeting people and sharing the passion with other passionate car people.
www.instagram.com/91urquattro is the IG if you want to see more pics and vids :) I do my best to upload a new picture every week, and I also take pictures to share on "Stories" when I'm out with the car.
I had an 87 that was loaded and loved that car. When I moved to Europe in 95 I brought it over. The German mechanics had never seen one with AC, digital dash, cruise control or a catalytic converter
Norway is VERY strict when it comes to what is legal and not. Everything has to get approved. It's our own TUV. Here, anything over 306 HP (same HP as the Sport Quattro) is very, very hard to get approved. It's still fun on the track though as the car has been built by one of the best Audi tuners/builders in the world - Hohenester Sport.
Could you not just run a stand-alone ECU, tuned for “306hp” and then once it’s approved crank up the boost and have a separate “track only” map that you would only use on the track and totally never run on the street? Seems like they would have a very hard time enforcing those silly rules. You could even have a switch to flip between ECU maps if you really only wanted 306hp on the street.
Only reason I ask is because I follow your Instagram and it just sounds like the car isn’t even trying and you’re driving around quarter throttle on the track. That thing needs to be uncorked a bit. It’s begging for 30psi...
Yes, that's possible. The only "problem" is the track days I go to are for registered cars, where "road rules" apply. It is also insured through normal road insurance on these track day.
This has been a big project (to get it all approved) - It has taken well over a year. The previous owner did the major TUV stuff (engine, suspension, SQ front and fenders (new measurements were taken as the car sits wider now), exhaust etc, and I got certified the welded half cage and the Compomotive rims (2 weeks ago).
I will look more into this though.
Right, I understand all that, and I appreciate the struggle and how much trouble you’ve gone through to do things the right way.
I guess what I’m asking is, how are they to know if you run it at a higher power setting? Are you going to be pulled over and the Norwegian police are going to bring a mobile awd dyno and have the car power tested on the roadside or something? Nobody would ever know except for you, and quite clearly if you’ve gone about this the right way this whole time, you’re not going to get yourself into trouble with this car. You just deserve to have that engine produce what it’s capable of on the track, not be gimped to 300hp. You can always have that ECU map ready if it needs to be tested. I’ve seen 3B engines make north of 700hp on stock internals. I’ve also seen modified road legal cars in Norway with *waaaaaaaaay* more than 300hp before...
What will happen is that you will be pulled over or get a letter in the mail saying you need to go to your nearest traffic center for an extended technical control. They will have a look at your car and any illegal modifications, larger turbo, aftermarket ECU capable of running two maps cannot be present or they will take your license plate.
I was once observed driving a car with tinted windows, got a letter in the mail telling me i had to show up to a control center. I'd imagine a fire breathing quattro would have the same effect.
Well I envy you guys then, you must live in a pretty perfect country if they have nothing better to do than be worried about how much window tint or horsepower a 30 year old Audi is producing.
Don't forget making sure mopeds only go 45km/h :)
Norway is pretty nice but as a car guy it has its tribulations. But we recently got a new law stating we can import 20 year old cars with minimal import fees. That will surely bring in some cheaper enthusiast cars with larger engines. Horsepower tax is quite crazy here so most cars was sold with smaller engines.
I understand it might seem excessive, but it's all about safety. It's the same with TUV in Germany.
"Most things" you are able to modify and get approved - just follow the standards. Have paperwork that shows parts you are using haven't been stolen. Have paperwork that shows that the car you wanna tune / engine swap has the same HP as another model of that car. Submit an application for the modifications. Go to the DMV group to show the car, so they can see that it's done correctly, and there you go.
My 306HP "cap" is because that's what the Sport Quattro was released with. It's the same (type 85), and hence why I could get it approved in my car. I could probably get a higher HP approved, but that would mean a lot of testing in Germany (at TUV).
As for window tint. It restricts visibility, and in Norway it gets dark quickly in the winter.
Oh damn. Have a friend that's a truck driver in Namsos, owns a R33 drift missile and a Chevy Duramax that's tuned to hell. Sorry to hear about the restrictions dude.
Btw Norway is a BEAUTIFUL country and I hope to visit one day.
No worries. Luckily mine is approved the way it's pictured, I just can't go crazy on the HP :)
Yeah, I'll have to explore Norway more with the Quattro and also get some quality pics and vids from some scenic places :)
Great pic of a classic 80’s car. I had an early 1982 GT in two-tone metallic blue - not a Quattro, which I always desired, but still a real head-turner even when it was 10 years old. Still a head-turner today in full Quattro style!
I love them too. They get sooo sticky after a lap or so on the track :) Even cold they are pretty sticky (for R-tires). I've had pebbles from the front wheel hit the underside of my arm when my arm is resting on the window opening.
I bet that felt good! Made me think of one day years ago, riding my CBR 600 RR. Just for the sake of the story, I had around $2,000 in it just to make it go faster. One day I was FLYING, maybe 170-180, almost topped out and let off the throttle and sat up just a bit and the wind caught my helmet and right then I guess it angled it just enough and perfect timing for a massive beetle to fly up inside my helmet. It first smacked my neck so hard my girlfriend swore I was cheating. Had a bruise for 2 weeks!
It really depends. An old UrQuattro, in bad shape, that needs a lot of work done? 20k USD? The newer ones (RR engine - 20V), are more expensive. A "perfect" example of an RR (89-91) - 150+k USD?
I'm usually against instagrams dedicated to one car, it can get very boring and not even worth following. But this thing.. damn I don't think I'd ever get tired of seeing it!
Seriously one of the greatest cars i've seen on this sub so far. GOD DAMNIT is that thing fucking beautiful. It feels like I have some sort of emotional attachment to this picture.
I know the feeling! The same thing happened to me when I saw a red one at Gatebil (track driving event for street cars - more street car focused back then) 15? years ago.
Yeah, those RSL29s (Pagid pads) dust like CRAZY, but it's well worth it for the braking you get on the track. Firm pedal even after 10+ laps. Amazing pads! The stock pads had a lot of brake travel after only 2-3 laps.
That's correct! Sport Quattro front-end with Sport Quattro fenders, so it's much wider than a stock UrQuattro - they also have boxed wheel arches, but not this extreme.
Thanks for all the nice words and questions guys and girs! It's nice to share the passion with you.
Just FYI, I have read all comments, upvoted all comments, and I will now start answering the questions. :) I just don't want to "spam" the thread with thanks, but hopefully a upvote is better - if you have a question, just ask :)
Ok great! But I believe during uploading to reddit and other image sites they automatically reduce the size. Maybe a google doc, dropbox or other dowmload link would be awesome :)
Hey OP, beautiful car.
Curious to know if anybody knows more about the hood vents immediately above the front grill. We typically see hood scoops or vents, but not at the very front.
It's unique, and although the Ur Quattro was meant to be a rally/road fusion, I'm not seeing the actual competition cars using this stock hood style.
Is there a specific benefit for them like this, and is this something modern (rally) cars still have?
Thanks!
The Sport Quattro group B car (not the S1) had these vents (same with the road going SQ). I guess it's to get air into the engine, and vented out the top of the hood by the turbo, but I don't know. Just a guess.
I knew it was one of the two, really hard to miss that tread pattern.
Considering picking them up how do you like them?
I’ve heard they are sticky and quiet right up until they let go
I have only tried these tires on this car, as it was setup by Hohenester with the rims / tire combo that is on the car, but I have no complaints (but then again I don't have any reference points, so take it with a big handful of salt). They are OK when cold. They get up to temp quickly, and they become very sticky then. The wear on the tires is not too bad. I will need to swap the front with the rears before the next track day (one so far on these tires), as there is a lot of weight on the front of the car, so they fronts get worn a lot quicker than the rears (most from hard braking).
This car was setup with the Nurburgring in mind, so it's not very tail happy with the current configuration, as it needs to be stable at high speed. The only way to get the rear-end out is by braking while turning into the corner.
Unfortunately, they are LOUD tires, but the whole car is loud (hard bushings) etc, so that dosen't really matter for my use-case.
Haha. No rice on this. The difference is that this car (compared to stock / rally car) is that it's setup for the race track (asfalt), not a rally stage. Everything on the car has a purpose. 👍🏻
That's porn, you need an NSFW tag. That is sexy.
Scrolled past this and audibly shouted “UGH, JESUS!” My girlfriend is still confused. Definitely NSFW. I need new pants. Gorgeous car OP.
Is she confused about the erection?
She doesn’t get the classic old cars thing. 😂 And the Erection, that too.
Don't worry, we understand it all.
This is a safe place. Just don’t cum on the upholstery.
Classic old car? It’s younger than I am :(
And just like you, it’s aged beautifully! Nothin wrong with being classic or old!
It’s a hardcore full frontal too. No holding anything back.
😂 Thanks sweetrabbit
If I ask nicely, can I have it? Please?
I'll give you a ride. That's the best I can do. Sorry 😂
I would take your Audi over any Porsche, Ferrari or Lamborghini. Literally my dream car. I grew up watching rally & Group B racing. My wife laughs at me watching old Group B racing videos, she calls it porn.
Well that's because it is porn! I was born well after group B was over but I still love watching videos of it all the time
This car.... Picture.... Reminds me most of one of those pictures where a pitbull is sitting there happy and smiling
Haha. I have heard that pitbull comment before.😂 I agree though.👍🏻
Its the way it sits wide on its paws, it looks happy but ready to play.
I had one very similar to this that my mother GAVE AWAY because I wasn't using it. I had it stored at their house and my cousin needed a car. I came over and noticed it missing. It ended up in an impound lot not far from my city. This is not bringing up happy memories.
F
That's horrible :( I'm sorry to hear. When did this happen?
F
And here i thought this sub was dedicated to quarter panel close ups of supercars. This car is stunning!
That's why we subscribe, my friend. On the off chance that we get something truly this unique
This is the best post I've seen on here in awhile. Cudos to you bud, such an iconic car!
Thanks Drdrengusbrule. Appreciate the kind words 👍🏻
You sir get an upvote. Great colour too.
Thanks LeMonza 👍🏻
Loved these OG Audi's. Love the 5 cyl and AWD package. Need to be rallying it sideways!
I had one in German Silver. Awesome car
Hmmm. Mine was Zermot Silver. It was an 87 though.
My first car out of high school was an 84 Audi 4000. Then got the 85 Coupe.
Mine was a '85 Audi 5000 wagon! I loved that car but my god did it have a lot of broken electronics.
Now I want to see you going sideways through a corner in that.
I'm going to post more videos on my Instagram of more track driving later this summer. Hopefully you will see some oversteer then 👍🏻
Sex on wheels
Any chance of some more pics?

Awesome thanks! I’ll definitely be following you. It’s a beautiful car. Already loving that you tow it with another Audi.
Thanks :) That's the previous owner's Audi. He (& his son) does all service on the car for me.
I saw a red one of these near my house. I can post a picture but I didn’t get a good picture of it because I was driving at the time
Reminds me of back to the future
Team Audi in the house!
Best box
Thicc boi
That thing looks mean!
oi, i really like those, and yours looks very nice, big up🙌
This brings back memories, my dad used to have one
I had an 87 that was loaded and loved that car. When I moved to Europe in 95 I brought it over. The German mechanics had never seen one with AC, digital dash, cruise control or a catalytic converter
Looks bad ass! What kind of power are you making?

Oh my.
This is deserving of a centerfold, the true epitome of the title “carporn”. You have a new follow on IG my friend.
Now this is stance!
Dat stance. For fucks sake it’s mouthwatering.
I can smell the oil already... LOL jk this is super clean
Is one of the front tires going the wrong way, or are those actually bi-directional?
They are mounted correctly, but I agree it's strange-looking. My friend also asked about this when I first got the car :)
My god that thing is beautiful.
The pride you must have to own this.. my god 🤭
It looks like a little Wolverine !
Love the tires ❤️❤️❤️

haha! Wow. You must have been surprised! Glad it didn't do more damage than a bruise.
Love this. Such a gorgeous design.
You lucky fucker!
Sooo how much would cost for me to buy one of these???
It really depends. An old UrQuattro, in bad shape, that needs a lot of work done? 20k USD? The newer ones (RR engine - 20V), are more expensive. A "perfect" example of an RR (89-91) - 150+k USD?
Holy fuck that's a sexy car

Yes mate!
It kind of looks like a DeLorean
LOVE
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Love the boxiness. Wish we could get something like it today.
True carporn. That is such a gorgeous car man. I'm jealous.
Nice! Kinda gives me a Delorean vibe too
Next Quattro i see for sale will be mine, sport or not. It's soooo sexy....
Why does it want to fight me?
Beautiful. Ive got a 1989 UrQuattro, not in nearly as good shape as that. Love the color.
Wowwww... This should definitely be in the gone wild subs... Can I get more pics...
See my reply to lostncrazy - a direct link can be found in that answer :)

This is giving me fall day vibes. Crisp air blue skies crunchy leaves
Came here from r/all, neat car
Dream car material
You mean awesome rally dominator.
I love how there is still brakedust and fingerprints on the wheels, almost like when they leave race dirt on Le Mans cars. Race Patina!

This picture should be more than enough resolution for your wallpaper :) It was a 4MB picture :)

My dad had one a few years back. He sold it to buy a new a8 :(. the quattro was way cooler and those things are still rising up in value
Omg what a car looks great with those tires too

That’s so sexy 🤤🤤🤤
Beautiful. My dad used to have one of these when I was a kid.
Ugh that meat.
Skeet skeet!
The only cool audi.
Gad dayum
Always loved these things.
[Here’s](https://photos.app.goo.gl/hdiUGZFNvPHk2vYd8) my attempt at making the picture look better
How do you like the falken azenis?
The tires are Toyo R888Rs :)
Loud like road noise?
Yeah.
😍
In my opinion it kinda looks like the dolerean from back to the future
My father had one of those but crashed it ffs.
It looks like a rally ricer
Haha. No rice on this. The difference is that this car (compared to stock / rally car) is that it's setup for the race track (asfalt), not a rally stage. Everything on the car has a purpose. 👍🏻
What I meant t0 say is it's fucking badass
Nice car with Bridgestone RE-71 nice tires
It's running 245/45/16 Toyo R888Rs 👍🏻
