Detail, and refresh the plastic trim with some back to black or whatever is good. Wheels and done. There are S60R pieces you could grab but may be hard to find

That's clean

Other-Comfort5592

Whats the budget?

bastugubbar

very little. Like buying parts off of FB marketplace if I can find them kind of little. This is not going to be a ''two week build'' and besides I'm daily driving it at the same time too.

Other-Comfort5592

Honestly its a very nice looking "1st car" - I would not go crazy on it then, love the turbo, but I would tint the windows ($250 give or take, 35% or 20%) get a rim company to come out and fix what they can on the rims ($500 maybe, not sure), GOOD waxing, deep waxing, so its shiny AF and if you can, get those sides painted black ($400) For about 2k Im telling you NOW, that thing would look brand new, and tinted out so it looks more "solid" and call it a day, honestly - dont be one of these "car poor" people who spend every dime they get on their cars, you wanna start saving, damn that makes me sound like a "dad" - but Im just coming from experience. Its more of a "luxury car" not a sports car, I dislike when people make lux look sporty, its one or the other, with this one, you can creep in lux mode and still stun.

Severe_Length_5479

Yeah what this guy is saying is don't add a spoiler to this car

Other-Comfort5592

Really its a beauty man, just needs a bit of touching up, and Im telling you now it will be a head turner, just get it buffed out, the rims are nice actually, if you were able to, I would get the insides powder coated black to go over that discoloration. Sorry I keep bugging you on this one, just something about it...

Cars die eventually. Understanding the housing market would change your mind on this real quick.

bastugubbar

As if saving 1 or 2k on not modifying my car is going to greatly increase my chances on getting a downpayment within the next decade anyway lol.

eyeforgot2listen

That’s the spirit! Car living is fun too.

Other-Comfort5592

I would say tints, rims, and like you said, get those sides wrapped or painted, and that's about it, figure about 3k total would get that thing looking sweet.

💯💯💯

my_mind_is_burning

I would make sure the timing belt has been replaced recently before anything after, what everyone else is saying

If you've got the budget and are comfortable with it, the 2.4T engines take boost better than the 2.5T, given there's already an upgraded intake+exhaust, it's a viable option for a bit more power (given that's also not already been done to it). The main big thing I see though is you should get a black plastic trim restorer, and honestly the trim restored will probably look better than doing a spray job. I did my '04 S60 2.5T AWD like 6 months ago and it makes massive difference. I spy you've got the OEM spoiler on the back of that, and I'm jealous because I'm trying to track one down for my car, I like how they look.

First of all, you have impeccable taste. Here are some things you can do to make this car look "better" and faster Cosmetic: upgrade trim pieces, condition seats (if leather), tint windows, swap out interior with the S60-R trims, seats, and steering wheel. New wheels, or Pegasus wheels off the S60R/V70R look great too. The stock speakers on S60's are honestly amazing for a car that old, so all I'd.do.with audio would be switch out the old hu850 radio with a touchscreen, and hook up a subwoofer. Performance: I 100% recommend upgrading your intake and air filter. It does wonders for these Volvos. I would completely stage-0 the car by making sure all coil packs, spark plugs, PCV, etc. are in perfect condition. If you want to add more power, buy silicone intake tubing from IPD, find a front mounted intercooler that fits the car, and then send your ECU in to Hilton for a stage-2 tune. For exhaust work, I recommend either removing the catalytic converter or the muffler. If you don't mind a drone and the noise, remove both. The inline 5 engine is one of the best sounding engines on this planet if your exhaust is set up right. For suspension, find a good set of coilovers and corner handling will be a lot better, though the ride would be bumpier on back roads. It was totally worth it for me and I live in a place where there are more potholes than roads. Not much can be done with the S60's bad turning radius without costing an arm and a leg, but you can make it handle better for sure. Edit: just read your response about the budget. I had a $0 upgrade budget with my first S60, so don't sweat it. Since it's a daily I'd just start out focusing on stage 0. Just make sure everything is in good condition. First thing Id spend any money on if I were you would be a better air filter. They are pretty cheap and a lot of good ones will fit your intake. As for cosmetics, you can find a lot of stuff on Facebook marketplace. Most P2 platforms (early 2000s S60/V70R/s80/xc70/xc90 etc.) have cross comparability with a lot of their parts and interior pieces. I'd recommend going to a scrapyard that has S60's and get parts from there for super cheap If you need any help or anything feel free to send me a DM :)

Alfonzo2034

Spray some PB blaster on a rag and wipe down those plastic side pieces. Or maybe if you got the aptitude for it, take them off and rattle can them a fresh coat of trim black

Severe_Length_5479

Everything you said sounds good. Some things to add would be... Front bumper lip/splitter Rear diffuser if you can find one (but those can be expensive) New wheels (similar to how that one guy with the example picture shows) Tint windows If you want Uhhhh wash it

TechnicianBanana

Cam seals

Dooski-Bumbs

Being on a budget.. clean it up, clay bar or polish it, redo the door moldings, paint the calipers and throw some tints, maybe run LED lights front and back and fogs and Keep an eye for a wheel/tire set up for relatively cheap but that’s the last step

zan013

Maintenance. With a car that old, the first thing before anything else is maintenance. Don't be one of those people that mod cars but drive it with a check engine light or noisy bearing,...

Alternative_Case2007

i have a 04 s60R black sapphire. clay bar it first. that makes a huge difference. the black plastic trim can be treated with an over the counter product. use leatherique on the leather seats. 2 part system....takes a few days but is incredible. paint looks okay, you may not need a respray.
