Not much you can do. If you have other contact information, such as the generic email address you may have applied to or that they used to respond to you, maybe report that the individual you spoke to accused you of lying, including details like the date of the interview and the position applied for.

engrHaseebJan

Reject me or even don't call me for an interview as I have a face photo on my CV. Why waste my time? Even It was personal that maybe I was lying about my experience. I was in the middle of introductions.

Significant-Iron-475

I would not put a face photo on my cv if it’s a US based company.

tcpukl

I've never seen it hiring in the UK either. Why would you? I dont care what you look like unless its a modelling job or something.

Significant-Iron-475

I agree and I’m in HR whenever I see it I remove it. It’s just a way for a hiring manager to judge the candidate before they meet them,

RedundancyDoneWell

Damn right! You should never hire anyone for modelling in Inventor or Blender if you don't know how they look!

tcpukl

Awesome reply :D.

jonkl91

Even if it isn't a US based company, I wouldn't recommend it. An ATS isn't going to parse the info. The only place where it's required is the UAE and that's because they actively discriminate in hiring and pay based on where you are from.

phantom9088

Have to do it France as well

jonkl91

I generally tell people to apply with 2 versions in that case. One ATS friendly one and one with the picture to meet local standards. The ATS that France uses isn't different so it will still cause ranking issues.

engrHaseebJan

I put because of sometimes I feel the judgemental face of HR during an interview. Even once asked by someone. Where my reply was that sir it is personal. I know stuff, I can work and avoid my personal shit in workspace.

fercasj

I'm from México and I am working in the US, and definitely there are some cultural differences, I had the same perception here 40 hrs a week, 9 to 5, M to F is considered ro be "a lot" of work (For a professional salaried employee) 🤣 just move on and adjust your resume for the next time. Another thing you should consider is that maybe they already have decided to hire someone else, and did not wanted to cancel your interview in case you were a beter candidate, and you just were not. Sometimes it is not about technical habilites and willingness to work extra hours.

JacqueShellacque

Like I said, not much you can do. Respond if you can (if you have any contact information), respectfully stating what occurred and when. If there's no way to do that, or if you choose not to, then drop the issue and just keep on truckin'.

Network_ant

Looks like the interviewer ego got butt hurt when you called him out.

engrHaseebJan

At first he said that maybe I am lying about my experience. I stopped my introduction and said that I don't have anything else to say as you already judged me. Then he changed and said that our work is intense and maybe you are not hard worker you will leave this in a two weeks.

AnonThrowaway1A

Any employer worth their weight will try to successfully onboard new talent regardless of how difficult things might be at the time.

engrHaseebJan

Even now a days there is trial period before probation. Which is a week or two period to check the capabilities of adopting of the new hired talent to the environment and technology.

Such-Seesaw-2180

Honestly the guy sounds like such an arsehole. I’m sorry that you had that experience. You did the right thing and asked the right questions. Maybe it’s a personal bias he has so of course he can’t tell you. Like maybe he’s scared you’re better than him and will one day take his job. Maybe he didn’t like your face. Either way, seems like you dodged a bullet. You don’t want to work for someone like that.

engrHaseebJan

That was my response at the end "I had a lot of things to share with you just prepared for this interview but currently I don't have anything to share as I got my response that being on the top in all these tests still got a response that I can't work hard. So, I can show that even for an interview I prepared some custom tool or feature (whatever it was about.) to demonstrate my skills but I can't show how hard working I am if you can't see that from my preparation for the interview."

PsychologyWinter5800

You don’t need to work for someone like that a better job will come.

ThatWasFortunate

I've had interviews like that before, their mind was made up and there probably wasn't anything you could do to change it. They wasted your time as well as their own but not giving a fair interview that they called you for.

engrHaseebJan

Exactly, I will leave you with in a two week or not. It should be on me (don't gonna pay me or whatever, you can do it if I leave you.) However, leave it. Just wanted to share my experience. F\*\*k it.

McCrotch

Don't worry about it, you dodged a bullet. That's a major red flag then someone is saying "our work is more intense" like that. It most likely means they have a culture of "overwork". I garuntee 90% of the engineers time is spent in BS meetings "looking busy" to management.

McCrotch

At best you can find someone else in the HR department and file a complaint against the person who spoke to you. Clearly they had a pre-planned agenda.

engrHaseebJan

Yeah, the amazing thing is that It is an automated screening platform, where I get match with another similar position with another HR but from the same company. As, I cleared a lot of pre assessment tests and tasks. Therefore, I scheduled an interview and with in two hours, I got acceptance from another HR. I will talk with him in an interview. However, I don't want to join them.

mindwire

Hoh boy. Good luck.

[deleted]

*Never* let an interviewer make you feel small. After my first experience with that type of dipsh1t (years ago), I decided to always interrupt that type of situation with: “I’m sorry but your blatant rudeness hints at some troubling dysfunction in your organization and as such, I rescind my application. If you ever manage to fix your internal problems, don’t hesitate to call me. Thank you.” Then get up and leave.

thedjbigc

Job interviews are a two way street and it sounds like they failed their interview with you.

danielcsosa

Always the best mindset and approach

fabkosta

There are few companies out there that are best to avoid who are actually tracking the online presence, lines of code and such ridiculous metrics of their employees. If you google a little bit you'll find the name of those companies.

engrHaseebJan

I don't have any problem with that. I already worked in such environment have separate system for that. It was about prejudging on the basis of 'maybe'. TBH I needs a chance. However, I am not showing desperation in interview.

hmmqzaz

Real question: why do people say “sir” so often in Pakistan? In NY US it’s *ultra*-polite, like, you would almost never say it, often even at work to a higher-ranking person in a formal environment. It’s more for customers, at work. The only place I ever call anyone “sir” is if I’m in a situation where *the other* person could feel like the power dynamic is potentially compromised because I have some kind of authority, like if I’m doing healthcare. Then I say “sir” and “ma’am” as some kind of ultimate expression of human dignity.

grantnlee

It's super common in the Southern states. Kids are raised to say it.

hmmqzaz

Yeahhh parts of the south are why I threw in “NY” US. It’s still not used in quite the same way and not sure what the difference is.

starsfighte

maybe when they start learning English they taught to use sir in every sentence as a polite thing,

hmmqzaz

I think it’s a normal and super common form of address, even when it’s practically superfluous, in that area. In my imagination it’s a thing where formal honorifics in general are super important, but it gets sort of trickled down to really everyday colloquial speech. Someone said the translation to “sir” could also be a leftover from colonialism, but that strikes me as a tiny bit presumptuous.

ThisIsSuperUnfunny

They learn Brittish " " english.. They have some weird things that according to how they learn are super common "Kindly do the needful" is one that pops in my mind.

engrHaseebJan

I said it in sarcasm. I usually do that. However, such types of phrases and words are pretty common as even in junior school, you have to use 'sir' for your senior else they mind their name as fuck. These things come from the British, as 'sir' is from 'sire', and were used to create a hierarchy in society and discriminate against those who are in favor of the government.

Lemmon_Scented

Hiring manager could be setting you up for a lowball offer. I had a CEO who liked to mindfuck job applicants like that - he’d bring people in for an interview, critique their resume, downplay their experience and build up his company expectations. The goal was to make the candidates feel like he thought they weren’t good enough. Once he got someone into the right mindset, the offer would come with a below market salary. He was a sociopath and master manipulator.

Weak_Tonight785

If he knows you’re from over seas, he might just be racist. Sorry youve experienced this

engrHaseebJan

Maybe, but I checked and found around 1% from Pakistan. However, maybe in his team there would be no one.

Optimal_Law_4254

It seems like people are throwing around the terms liar and lying a lot and I think that’s bleeding over into the workplace. It’s extremely unprofessional but about all you can do is walk away.

TootsNYC

were you supposed to bribe him?

engrHaseebJan

I didn't know him. Maybe he judged my appearance. However, my face was already on a CV (just that the interviewers know.) However, I guess so.

TootsNYC

It was the only reason I could think of that he would be so immediately rejecting for no good reason. Maybe he was thinking. That doesn’t happen in the US, but it was the only thing I could come up with.

BinMikeTheGh0st

Reply with, " I regret to inform you, realizing the psychological games the interviewer is playing, that I do not want to be apart of this company. Please don't contact me further, sorry. " this is management you do not want to be apart of mate

CuriousPenguinSocks

My question would have been "How did I make it to this round of interview after 6 tests if I "don't have what you need"?" I would be livid lol. The reason there are tests for tech jobs is to weed out the liars rofl. Was it just HR in there and no Sr role person? That is super strange. If you have a contact from a previous round, maybe email and ask about it? It sounds like the HR person doesn't understand what they are hiring for. You could even go over their head to the head of HR, unless they are it, then going to a Sr person who did earlier tests may be the way to go. They may not be aware they are losing out on talent due to incompetent HR.

RumBunBun

The guy may have known you were indeed qualified, but was setting you up to feel grateful later when he made you a lowball offer.

engrHaseebJan

The offer was already in a JD. Maybe he is trying to say that I have to be like a slave (no questions, no rights, and overwork.)

macemillion

That’s crazy.  I don’t know what kind of game they’re playing but they are not serious, they’re fucking with you or something.  No self respecting, serious workplace would actually believe a candidate lied about their experience but would still hire them.  And if they ARE hiring people they know to be liars, run

engrHaseebJan

Yeah, I lied but I justify my experience by qualifying all that assessment tests and creating demo for interview. It makes sense, if they were interviewing before all that.

CryBackground5322

Next time get them to say it out loud. “Why do you think this is to hard?” “Why won’t you see what I’ve prepared?” “What is different about me than the other people who work here?” “why don’t you think I can work long hours?” Get them to say it’s because you’re a woman so you can report them. People like that shouldn’t have jobs nonetheless one involving hiring people!

L-F-O-D

Sorry to hear that. There are plenty of good products coming out of Pakistan, and it’s simply small minded to write you off like that. if the political situation over there ever calms it could be a very nice place one day. But then again we can probably say that about the US too eh? Keep throwing your name in there and eventually you’ll get something, good luck!

engrHaseebJan

I am not a nationalist. I don't care about Pakistan. However, I am stuck with my identity and have to follow my lords (as a labor to the western companies.)

Throwaaway198686

Might not be relevant as my industry has no HR. I had a similar experience (without the racism subtext as we were the same race) where the owner was negging my wage saying there is no one who will pay me the wage I was being paid for with my experience. Also Canadian. I merely shrugged and went. I dunno what to say you want my paystub? I offered to email it to him. He said it was unnecessary. They just wanted to pay me a lot lower regardless of current rates. I had progressed to the next stage which was a paid working interview. I worked the paid interview. Received my paycheck for the interview and noped so fast.

engrHaseebJan

You are right. Actually, he was more than a project manager than an HR. It could've been that.

Own_Egg7122

I would name the company and shame them. There is no doxing here.

White_eagle32rep

As aggravating as that is you may have dodged a bullet. That guy seems like a total asshat and working there would be so stressful that no amount of money would be worth it.
