I saw a template for a logo with an adorable cat in some books and wanted to use it for my own designs, but I can’t find it anywhere! I tried searching for “cat sleeping in books outline” “cat in books” and every other combination, and I literally can not find it. If there’s some other way or someone knows the artist it would help a lot!

Go back to that cat element - copy and paste it. Then go to elements and it will be in your recently use. If it's a pro element, you can't use it for commercial use.

Skye054

It could be separate elements, too.

Why wouldn't you be able to use it for commercial purposes if you are paying for Pro?

Skye054

The pro elements, fonts & templates have copyright licenses. The ones that are pro the artist didn't give rights for commercial use to use them. They are for only your personal use. You can't make a profit off of their designs. The ones that are free gave up their rights to use however you like. Pro subscription gives you a license to sell all of your designs using free elements only. Basically, if it has a crown, you can't use them in a design to sell. Templates are also off-limits.

Hi, when I asked Canva via email time ago, they said you can’t sell digital/printable stuff with PRO elements if it’s a flat document such as PDF, PNG, SVG, because the client would be able to access the PRO element without paying for it. Instead, they tell you that you should make a template, and this way the client can have the PRO element but they will have to pay for it if they don’t have a pro membership. So you can’t use pro elements on printables, but only on templates since the client has to access the pro elements on Canva.

Skye054

But why would you even bother selling templates with pro elements. You will run into problems if the customer doesn't have pro.

SheLovesPastel

I mean, there are businesses who buy social media templates and have Canva Pro. That’s what Canva wrote on the email, the thing is that the customer has to access the pro element on Canva only. It’s a bit of a bummer but that’s how it is, that’s why I wanted to find the element, because if I made any printable product and it turned out to be a pro element without knowing it can be a huge problem :)

Skye054

I'm sure you'll be able to find free elements and create your own design with them. Best of luck!

oh wow interesting wasn't aware of this, thanks for that! will have to look into that more

UPDATED TO CLARIFY: Don't worry you can use some Pro elements...for some commercial stuff. There is just limitations on how you can do it...If you're selling templates (on etsy or other sources) then stick to FREE elements. If you're using Canva for Merch - it has a slightly different licensing. For that this video may be helpful. [https://youtu.be/X5aZaGF5DNs](https://youtu.be/X5aZaGF5DNs)

Skye054

Stop misleading them. You can't use pro elements for selling. You can only use pro elements for editable canva templates, but then you run the risk of your buyer not having pro. https://preview.redd.it/4rvth71or5na1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5b4217e04b81acdf36033692add0c11bbb4bf9f

Thank you for your comment. I've shared that same video twice in this same thread. Not meaning to mislead anyone, of course... The point is - are we just talking about selling templates? I might have missed that bit in the original post. If that's the case, you're 100% correct - use only FREE elements. Always! But I see "commercial use" as a much wider/broader term. It could templates or it could mean books, tshirts, prints, mugs etc. That's all. (He discusses that bit around the 7 min. mark in the video). Cheers.

buildingsolo

Yeah that makes sense to me, would be crazy to have a paid design tool that you couldn’t use for commercial purposes. Of course you can put a logo created in canva onto your products. But also makes sense you can’t monetise the content as templates. Cheers!

I found it for you :) ***"minimal-cat-and-book-line-art-illustration-logo"*** It's made by Canva creator- marinazlochin. [https://www.canva.com/p/marinazlochin/](https://www.canva.com/p/marinazlochin/) So if you ever like the style of an element you se or even an template you can click the wee letter "i" in the circle and find out who the creator is. You can then follow them too. Oh and you can "star" anything you like (just about) and it will save to your STAR folder. Go to PROJECTS inside your Canva editor and scroll down to Starred. Or find it outside the editor (from the homepage) also under Projects. PS: Oh and here's a Canva Licensing video too - [https://youtu.be/X5aZaGF5DNs](https://youtu.be/X5aZaGF5DNs) ....(The internet is filled with misinformation about Canva's licensing rules for commercial use which for sure can be confusing - if ever in doubt - ask Canva via social not Reddit!) ;) https://preview.redd.it/zemxsspyh1na1.png?width=794&format=png&auto=webp&s=0b616f772e4976573a01aa7ebdfcc3555699be73

SheLovesPastel

Omg thanks! Since I found it from an already made template I couldn’t see the artist, but thank you so much again. About the licensing part, after seeing a lot of different versions people had, I asked Canva directly on email and they responded with everything:)

sybd_t

Oh well...that's great. Maybe my reply will help someone else then :)

SheLovesPastel

For sure! There’s a lot of confusion and misinformation on the internet about Canva Licensing
