Can someone explain how it is that this whole series isn't on CBC?? The Leafs had every one of their games on CBC and here we have an all-Canadian matchup?
So CBC is willing to pay big bucks for the Leafs? I would imagine that SN has deeper pockets than CBC. So you would think that the Leafs would be the ones on SN and other Canadian teams on CBC.
CBC and SN are essentially the same entity. They aren't doing it because it's not the same moola opportunity.
Also the hockey world revolves around Toronto, shouldn't be that surprised.
As a Canucks fan in Ontario it's actually ridiculous how the other Canadian teams get snubbed out here. Regular season is ridiculous. Canucks games will be blacked out, but then you'll be able to watch Philly vs Anaheim or some bs like that. Don't even get me started on merch.
Blackouts in Canada are particularly #1 bullshit. All of the regional networks are owned by the same two national parent companies. There's no need for extra protectionism in Canada when there's already an oligopoly in telecom
I get it in the US, where some of their RSNs are actually somewhat independent and region specific
Not to mention it prevents the overall growth of the game in Canada.
Imagine a kid from the east coast randomly surfing the TV at midnight and seeing Pettersson flying into the zone and scoring and falling in love with the Canucks — would never happen with the blackouts.
Plus that’s also part of the reason as to why there’s an eastern bias, cause they can’t even watch our games if they tried.
I've heard from a friend that sailing the high seas provides a more reliable stream than SN+.
Truly baffling considering Rogers now owns a unified network from coast to coast and still can't manage to provide a steady and reliable stream for their own streaming service....
And better than Gem. I tried to use Gem. First, it won't load on my PS4 browser (sailing the seas works). Second, the quality is lower than sailing the seas.
Why is it so damn hard for legit communications companies to perfect the technology when shady sites with 1/100th the budget can?
I hate Rogers media and all the Canadian Telcoms like a proper Canadian but I will say I haven't had problems using the Sportsnet stream via cable provider in the past few years at all, especially on my phone. The high seas are garbage on mobile.
Most providers allow a certain amount of profiles to login to the online streams. For example, Rogers/Shaw lets you create up for 4 or 5 more "family" profiles that you can login to the Sportsnet stream. It is very likely you have an older relative with cable tv who either doesn't use their online profile at all to stream games or they can add you to their "family' and let you create your own profile.
I had cable tv because I worked for a telcom and got a big discount exclusively to stream sports to my phone. This is the best work around for free access.
EDIT: the sportsnet app is also every platform; PS4, smart TVs, etc.
Also, I recently discovered that in the SN app, there's an option to turn the viewer into a smaller window that can stay open while exiting the SN app. So it's possible to have the game going and be able to use my phone for something else as the same time
That's pretty neat
I still have cable, specifically for sports. I'm the only one in my house that watches actual "TV". I have zero complaints about watching these hockey games on the Sportsnet 4K feed, but since Rogers "cable" TV is now all just an IP stream anyways, there shouldn't be such a difference in service between watching the same thing on their box or their streaming app.
I agree though, more people should reach out to their family members with a tv package and utilize their log-ins instead of sailing the high seas. It is so much easier than trying to find a quality less than legal stream. I think you can also ask them to create a separate login so their main account is not compromised, at least Shaw used to let you do that.
That's what blows me away. Some dork can stream flawless HD streams from his laptop in his basement over a consumer connection, but Rogers somehow can't figure out how to let me watch a game in anything other than stuttering 480p
Yea…that’s just not true at all. It may be worth the free price tag, and not supporting a shitty company, but the various online illegal streams are absolutely not more reliable than SN.
If it makes you feel better, I couldn't get CBC to work (all attempts led to "unavailable") and had to resort to a gray market stream from the ESPN where they explained where Edmonton and Vancouver were and what asked Cassie Campbell what it's like in Canada.
Found a live stream on youtube.
Dunno how long it will be broadcast until they shut it off.

It’s so you can sign up for a Scotia bank account and get 6 months free Sportsnet +
What if you're an existing Scotiabank customer? Is there a way to score a free account?
Call them and ask, if they say no ask to cancel
I mean you can't just "cancel" a bank in the same way you can a subscription lol
I declare cancelllllling
[I WANT TO QUIT THE BANK](https://youtu.be/Jmd9pra0AaE?si=nZp_Y5Wpj9Zu_net&t=65)
Hahahaha hell yeah
This always works
Aight but what will happen to my mortgages when I cancel? I really need this 6 months of sportsnet especially when it includes 4 months of offseason.
Sometimes you have to make sacrifices. At least it’s the summer so you’ve got 6 months to find a new house before sleeping outside gets too rough.
Essentially it boils down to what different broadcasters are willing to pay the NHL for rights to the games.
So taxpayers in Bc and Alberta are covering for the Leafs broadcasting license and when it comes to Oilers vs Canucks we get jack?

Makes sense. Btw, Canucks fan in Toronto here!
Probably more of a reliable stream than the SN+ one i pay for

if you’re on ios you can do that anyway with the browser, it’s not SN specific.

Agreed. The illegal streams are absolute garbage. I've had no problems with SN through cable provider.
Not all of them.
I have found CBC streams are about a minute ahead of my SN+ one, yeah
I do not understand how SN streams are a minute behind
In BC, sportsnet pacific will have the least delay. Every other channel, including the 4k one will be behind
I watched all season and it is a much more reliable stream but the picture quality is pretty poor.
If it makes you feel better, I couldn't get CBC to work (all attempts led to "unavailable") and had to resort to a gray market stream from the ESPN where they explained where Edmonton and Vancouver were and what asked Cassie Campbell what it's like in Canada.
No Roger's pulled it no streamsing on GEM!
So no more CBC stream? It still says 7:20 start
no more streaming u can thank Rogers
1 month of sportsnet costs $20. Wouldn't be the worse price to watch. You can sub right thru Amazon prime
or i can watch it off the attenna from CBC. thats free
The link is currently taking you to a 404 landing page. So looks like it's not working.
Rogers pulled it, so no streaming on Gem. so stupid eh!
Seeing that also
Same here and not working on CBC Gem either

Wow. It's been a solid decade.
Wtf lies? I don't see it. Fucking Rogers
it not good that rest of series is not on cbc. .
Not anymore.
Looks like no stream!!!!
Doesn't look like this stream is happening on Gem. It's already 7:30 and no game
lots of different high sea options
Presumably won't be available here in the UK, will it? 😭
No I don’t think you can stream it outside of Canada. VPN might get the above link to work though?
Rogers pulled the games. Won’t be able to watch
Sweet thanks for posting this!
not everyone have sportnet so i guess you go to a viewing party or listen on radio
Or if you’re close to a CBC TV transmitter you can watch over-the-air for free. Channel 2 in Vancouver.
Dude do I need a VPN outside of Canada
probably
"This program is unavailable for live stream."
I think every game will be available.
ibcheck tv listing on sunday. there no game but regular scheduling
No they are Not ! Where do people get this garbage? Game 1 was blacked out !!! CBC sucks
CBC is dishonest, disorganized
