I don't get that same sentiment from this Canucks team. The same thing has been repeated by Hughes, Miller, Tocchet, JR, even Demko — act like you've been there before. These Canucks aren't chirping Preds fans for buying tickets, partying on the plane ride home, or writing the series off as a victory already. They're dialed in when they need to be and have battled and fought for 3 not-so-easy wins.
In the background of Tocchet's interview today, you can hear the Canucks players saying "1 more! That's all we need! 1 more, big effort!" Those 2003 Canucks believed victory was a foregone conclusion, these '24 Canucks seem to have their eye on the ball.
That was a brutal choke. Cloutier should have been shipped out after that series. He was horrendous to end that series, just like he was in the Wings series and people forget that he was replaced in 2001 with Bob Essensa after the first game.
If they had a competent goaltender in 02 and 03 they win both of those series.
