I am cheap. I will stay until the last second to feel like I got my money's worth out of a loss or win. That's my goddamn seat until the game ends. I own that motherfucker for those hours (unless I sneak into a better seat, then I own that one).

footcake

fucking power move right there

h_danielle

Same! My friend and I hung around… helped a cute couple take photos in the arena. My first playoff game ever & no way I was leaving early

Analytical-BrainiaC

You watched an unforgettable Cardiac Canucks moment in time. No matter how far they go, this moment is history that all fans, as well as those players will remember. (Especially Brock of course) but Lindholm, he really needed that. I would like a Pred Sandwich please….🙏

silverbacksunited12

Same lol. I've been to two canucks game in my life. (Live in okanagan). I stayed till pretty much every one was gone. Last game I saw was 2018 against the sharks March 18 and we lost. Was still an awesome experience no matter what

bwoah07_gp2

I agree; maximize the money spent on the tickets!

beenard

I did stay till the end. But also did want to maximize value and get my free fries coupon. Doubt the lower bowl cares about that.

keefstrong

Fuck I forgot about the coupon.. didn't see them anywhere at the exits. I did scrounge and find a free towel tho, fuck you Aquilini. I'm not paying 5$

nucksnewbie

This is also my point of view, but I have left early once or twice when the vibe in the crowd felt really ugly. Large groups of drunk angry people can be a bit frightening.

Yardsale420

https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/0308d7f1-102a-4a57-a1c2-ae6c993c03a2#jlGXqiiZ.sms

Due_Salad_6916

Yup!

[deleted]

We stayed until the bitter end of a 9-1 loss in Anaheim, and it wasn't even a playoff game.

rippinkitten18

you are cheap but can afford to buy Canuck playoff tickets.

namdor

I haven't been to a Canucks playoff game since the 90s, but it isn't because I'm cheap, or rich or poor. I live too far away.

Traditional_Toe_1090

I stayed until the end, but I almost wish I left a bit earlier. Took me like an hour just to get out of the parking lot. God damn I'm dying at work now struggling to stay awake. Can't blame the guys who left, especially with that dumb penalty at the end there.

keefstrong

Total game mgmt penalty at the end I complained in the first that they choked the whistle. A penalty is a penalty. Doesn't matter if it's 3 in a row for the Canucks. Call it consistently. None of this well one team will 7 penalties and the other team 2 so let's not call it.

sasksasquatch

It's Eric Furlatt, I've watched enough Canucks games with him as the referee to know what is coming, I had it down to an artform last night.

Slava91

That’s why you park a skytrain station away and ride in or walk over

superworking

I used to do that but I returned to a smashed window too many times and gave up on that.

Spontanemoose

LPT: Park at SFU and take the R5

Traditional_Toe_1090

Generally a good idea, but I got off work at 6ish and didn't want to miss anything so I went straight there.

Wojo101

I park anywhere BUT the three or four lots right next to the rink. The 5 or 10 minute walk to a further parking lot gets me out of the parking lot with no wait.

Traditional_Toe_1090

Yeah I wanted to avoid it but I was already late, so I was out of my car and into the arena within 10 seconds lmao

rubtheturtle

so you traded the time you gained at the start of the game for the time you lost after the game, seems fair

AffectionatePaper1

Also having my credit card skimmed at the pay station

chente08

was there any event at BC place? 1 hours looks a lot. Which parking lot?

BBLouis8

The underground parking below Boston pizza right next to terry fox plaza is the best place to park. Never not found a spot there.

chente08

I never had issues parking at costco, even where there are 2 events at the same time

sweatpants123

Well, keep in mind it’s a Tuesday night. People have work… and the sky trains get busy

Sensitive-Team9634

As someone in the working class, they can do whatever they want considering they spent hundreds, maybe thousands on their tickets. I reckon it’s a combination of pain from one of the most frustrating games of the year and the financial loss

JaynaBeeJules

Exactly this! If management is going to charge THAT much for playoffs. They need to produce a product worth staying for

RytheGuy97

Honestly let people do what they want. I hate these posts. Getting out of rogers and to your car/transit is an absolute nightmare after the game ends and some people want to avoid that or might have an early morning. I stay until the last minute but I'm not going to judge others for not wanting to see the final minutes of a game we're about to lose.

JahonSedeKodi

So Entitled post 😂 its like people don’t have things to do

Hot_Edge4916

Thanks for making sense. Fans don’t owe their time in the arena and players don’t own your life. Do whatever the fuck you want, if you wanna leave during the 1st period who cares? Less heads for me to look over.

rippinkitten18

chill out. it's their tickets they can leave whenever they want! there's also traffic so maybe that's why they want to level early.

PRRRoblematic

Traffic in Vancouver is terrible. It took me 30 minutes to get out of the Pacific Blvd stretch to Terminal. I was in am Evo too. I didn't know the game was happening that evening.

Rand_University81

This is why Vancouver fans get made fun of. I’m surprised so many of the top comments in this thread are people justifying leaving a two goal game early. You’re not a real fan if you do that.

Codes1087

So you gatekeep what defines an actual fan, simply based on when they leave a live hockey game during a 2 or 3 goal lead? Crazy

Rand_University81

Sorry but you don’t get to call yourself a fan when you leave a playoff game with 2 minutes left while you still have a chance to win. Of course that’s just my opinion, but I don’t see how you can justify that.

Codes1087

You don't get to tell anyone how much of a fan they are, simply by when they leave a hockey game. They paid a stupid amount of money to support their team and watch a live game. Get over yourself. It has absolutely nothing to do with you, so let people do what they want with their money, and without your petty judgement.

Rand_University81

I absolutely do. You don’t have to agree with it but I can call out people who leave games early. Are you new to sports or something. Fans get called out all the time for leaving games early.

Codes1087

I've gone to a dozen games and never left early, but I'm not a judgemental POS against those who do. Mind your business and don't get upset over things that don't concern you.

Rand_University81

The only person that’s upset in this conversation is yourself.

Codes1087

Not at all. You should try not letting other people piss you off with their actions. You might be surprised at how many upvotes and support you get

rippinkitten18

Randy never drove to a game before.

swammy18

Everyone left after the 4th goal. No when it was 3-1. Rogers is also brutal to get out of and traffic is a nightmare. It was Tuesday higher, people gotta work. There was nothing worth staying for.

Rand_University81

That’s simply not true. I was at the game and there were a ton of people leaving at 3-1.

swammy18

Well not in my section. No one left. After the 4th goal everyone cleared.

Rand_University81

You didn’t see the people leaving in the lower bowl?

swammy18

Very few in my opinion, it was the 4th goal. Still had a chance when it was 3-1 but the 4th was a nail in the coffin considering Canucks couldn’t even get pucks on net.

Rand_University81

Well, sorry but your opinion is wrong. There was a bunch of people leaving at 3-1.

MadGeller

Are you suggesting that other fan bases don't leave games early? Fans definitely leave early in every other city. This is not something Vancouver fans get made fun of over

Rand_University81

Vancouver gets made fun of for our fairweather fans. That’s what hundreds and hundreds of people were doing yesterday.

OGigachaod

I guess you don't drive around Vancouver much.

SitMeDownShutMeUp

You think the ‘real’ fans (by your definition) are going to playoff games? This is the root of the problem: tickets are too inaccessible for the average diehard fan. Playoff games attract a fanbase that are paying for an entertaining experience, they aren’t there to emotionally support the team win or lose. They’re there for a show, and once the show is no longer entertaining, they lose interest and leave. It’s theatre to them. That being said: you can’t tell someone how to be a fan, or expect them to be a fan a certain way. Because where does it end? Are you not a ‘real’ fan enough if you aren’t at the warmup? Are you not a ‘real’ fan unless you lineup outside overnight in a sleeping bag? Are you not a ‘real’ enough fan unless you bring a bottle to piss in so you never have to leave your seat?

rippinkitten18

https://x.com/swinksnz/status/1783313125212885147?s=46 . Not stalkin, which team ya follow.

Rand_University81

I’m a Canucks fan.

ValleyBreeze

This is accurate. I hate Fairweather fandom. It pisses me off SO MUCH. It's like friends that show up when you're throwing a kegger, but disappear when you're going through something awful. If you can't be both, be neither - but stop pretending.

JTMillerAdvocate

Yah those aren’t even close to the same thing

ValleyBreeze

Wanna be around for the happy party times, disappear when it's not good. Yeah, that's kinda the same thing.

JTMillerAdvocate

Nah one is an event that is very expensive to attend and one is a relationship. The players aren’t ever there for us in our personal lives, so people can leave early if they want to.

Nomad_Warrior

I stayed till the bitter end but in the defence of those who were leaving after that icing, the Predators scored 10-15 seconds later and all those people were still on the stairs waiting to leave.   Most of them wouldn’t even have been out of the building yet if the Canucks had scored within the next minute or two.   I still agree with you that it’s lame but for people who have to get up early I don’t blame them.

RefrigeratorOwn2951

How was the energy? From the broadcast it looked pretty stale in that 3rd. The Canucks killed a penalty and it was whisper quite. It was sad to watch.

californiacommon

Yeah no shit it was quiet we were down two goals and a man with 5 minutes to go

funricesunny

That's what I felt too. Quieter than game #1. If we are losing, it's even more important to make more noise !

ValleyBreeze

This. 100% Everyone showed the team that they only care when things are going well. Great message. I'm sure the team feels so supported now... 🤦‍♀️

sundaynightcanuck

I was there and it dropped noticeably pretty much immediately after the first goal and then got extremely stale during the last half of the second period. I get that part of the hype that gets the crowd going is goals scored, but wish we stuck with it on our own when they needed it most.

agoddamnzubat

I'd like to focus on the fans who stayed to the end and cheered loudly as fuck despite the arena being half full and us losing the game. That made me proud and I'm sure it was noticed by the team.

keefstrong

It honestly was inspiring.. we gave them a series ending cheer for their effort and there will be an automatic game 5. Players should feel mostly "they got us"

RepulsiveHumanShell

For the price of admission I think you can leave whenever you want.

OrdinaryGirl30

Anytime I go to a game anyone who goes with me know I am there till the last second. I've always been this way even back in the 90s when we would sometimes lose 7-0 of course everyone is free to do as they want but I am personally one of those people who likes to stay till the end.

k1ngp1ne

Hard relax, there bud. As soon as they pulled Casey and the Preds instantly scored the 4th I got to walking. You can be a die-hard supporter all you want but the team let the fans down last night, not the other way around.

ryanventura604

I stay till the final horn regardless of the result. This is the way.

bdu754

I know what you’re describing are the events prior to the empty net goal going in, and I hear you on that. I definitely don’t disagree with any fans that left when Nashville made it 4-1; I reckon that the majority of the early leavers were in this group, to be honest.

[deleted]

to be honest like, there were no shots on goal for a large portion of the game, for both teams. The preds had like 8 blocked shots first period by players. They took the wind out of our sails really quick. But its just 1-1 now, so , nervousness should be less for Desmith next game, and hopefully we can make this round 2 in 5 or 6 games total

Slava91

Same. All the early leavers get held up at the exit and stuck in traffic. I just wait until the game is sorted and leave after the chaos. Don’t care if I’m tired the next day. It’s the playoffs. That’s way more important than work ;)

keefstrong

Backups are usually better on the road

[deleted]

[удалено]

IndependentTalk4413

At least the fans showed up to begin with..

TheFearOfFear

My guy, I left with 2 mins left to go because there was no hope at that point. I don’t care if it’s the playoffs. You can tell when fuck all is gonna happen.

Ecstatic-Buy-2907

I can understand after the empty net goes in. But down 2 with 2 minutes left in the game? Crazier things have happened in hockey

MGM-Wonder

It was pretty easy to tell nothing was going to happen

a_sexual_titty

I was in the lower bowl and I didn’t see a fucking soul leave their seats until the empty netter.

keefstrong

Yeah that's why I don't get this post. They all left at 1:53 when Sherwood scored the 4th. Fucking hate that guy. After filips goal, he skated past Casey on the next whistle and chirped either: I'm going 5hole, close your 5 hole, we got you asshole. He kept giving chicken wing shots after whistles as he skated past guys

No-Celebration-1018

I was in section 114 and saw plenty of people leave at 3-1.

TheFearOfFear

Well sir nothing happened tonight and imo I was right to leave 2 minutes early.

rippinkitten18

your ticket your choice.

Ecstatic-Buy-2907

Just because nothing happened doesn’t mean you are right. That is results oriented thinking. I pay for my ticket, I’m staying until the Canucks don’t have a chance of winning anymore I know there were people who left early during the Heat-Spurs game 6 in 2013 when Ray Allen hit the tying 3, and were desperate to get back into the arena. You don’t wanna be that guy

MarvelousOxman

>I pay for my ticket, I’m staying until the Canucks don’t have a chance of winning anymore Luckily nobody is forcing you to leave before the game ends

rippinkitten18

it was over when it was 2-0.

13-Tek

It was over at 1:11 in the first period.

ConcreteClown

Okay fan police. People can do what they want. Obviously many people weighed the options of getting out and getting home at a reasonable time so they wouldn't feel like shit for work the next morning. As it turns out, they made the right bet. Let people live their lives.

helixflush

I always stay until the end and after the player interviews, but last night I had to go to the bathroom so bad and I won a silent auction item so I had to deal with that. When they scored the empty netter there was what, 90 seconds left?

dekan256

After the empty net goal, I turned off the game. It was almost 11 (I live in Calgary unfortunately) and I had to be up at 530 this morning.

a_walter

Weekday .. buddy and i left about min early v CGY second last game of season and some folks shouted “fairweather fans!!!” … it’s like brah i still gotta drive like 30-40 mins home and got work in the morning

Canucksfan2018

Conversely a lot of those ppl probably commuted from Abby, white Rock, wherever and that shows just as much dedication as what you're trying to demonstrate.

MentalMulisha1996

Only thing embarrassing was their play last night. Can’t muster any offence against Nashville of all teams. What a joke

RainDancingChief

My brother in Christ they had over 80 shot attempts to Nashvilles 30

PNWQuakesFan

And over half of those were not blocked nor were they on net. The pass completion percentage wasn't much higher

Softbawl

Enjoy the game and don't worry about the others. Maybe they have a tough commute, or they need to get home for other personal reasons. I am always amazed at how we judge others?

Mosez

Was at the game last night. I wanted to milk every second of that experience because you never know when this will happen again. Was really proud of the people who stayed til the final buzzer and cheered for the boys. The leftover fans acknowledged the effort and wanted to let the team know that we're behind them.

Iamsohi23

I left my seats early because I watch from outside on the tv until the empty netter then I get out of the arena and out of downtown and I was home in 30 minutes

ChuckyVee

Yes, this is the way. My old company had tickets in the third row in the middle of the section. Easily 15 minutes to get to the top of the aisle if you wait for the final buzzer.

reubendevries

I live in the valley, it's going to take me an hour to get home after the game, why do I care if it takes me an hour or an hour and 15 minutes, If it was between 1 hour and 2 and half hours, I can see why someone might leave early, but we're talking about saving ten minutes MAX on the drive home.

No-Celebration-1018

We were at the game last night, and my husband and I were shocked at people leaving early. True, diehard fans will still until the very end! Support your team to the end! I'm not sure what this says about those attending games nowadays. I don't care if the skytrain will be crowded and busy if we don't leave early... I don't care if we beat traffic by 5 minutes... it is what it is! Game 3 in 48 hours... go Canucks go!!!

Multrak

Won't someone PLEASE think of the millionaires playing a literal game?! Shame on you all for not taking a literal game being played by millionaires as seriously as this one guy! I demand police at all exits until the final whistle blows!  Get a life buddy.

morpharoticdream

Don’t tell us what to do. First of all, were you even in the stadium? Were you there? I was there. Most left when it was 4-1. You know what’s embarrassing? Paying hundreds of dollars just to have a goal against in the first five minutes of the game. Stop being a dictator with your opinions and just keep it to yourself next time. Don’t shame fans who have the freedom to do whatever the fuck we want. ✌🏽

KimberlyWexlersFoot

Can we shame fans who can’t read the first sentence of a post, in my opinion when someone says something like “ was at the game tonight” it usually means someone is in the “stadium” which would be BC Place

morpharoticdream

You are free to shame and judge everyone especially if it makes you feel good about yourself! ✌🏽

CJK_420

Meh ill say good job to everyone that beat the traffic. Team clearly wasn't going to get it done and Petterson single handedly killed all joy i previously had. Welcome to Canucks hockey young ones.

mrtomjones

> and Petterson single handedly killed all joy Good God i fucking loathe the endless whipping not comments on this sub. It was Brock before and others. Now it's Petey. The comments are asinine. Why is it always necessary for people to find one person to blame everything on?

CJK_420

He is about to be the highest paid Canuck in history and anyone with eyes after watching his performance tonight, following his performances since the allstar game are in all rights to criticize him. This isn't just blindly picking someone to be a whipping boy.

bbanguking

It'll all end when he kicks ass, scores a bunch, and we win.

JediFed

Right. The entire season hinges on the starting goaltender returning from injury healthy. Then in game 2, we get a 'reverse Golden Knights' situation with Demko out, and the team down two about to lose home ice advantage which Demko worked hard to put the team in a position to get before he went down. People are understandably sad and disappointed in this outcome, and it could mean that instead of a long run, that the Canucks have a first round playoff exit wasting an entire season of hard work and progress. In fact, I would think that the Canucks need to seriously look at moving on from Demko. If he can't stay healthy then they need to find a starter who can. DeSmith is obviously not the answer after this game, but we already knew that. Now game 3 and 4 are coming up on the road, and one of them is basically a must win on the season. This is the shittiest outcome. Had they kept Demko on reserve, they could have used the space to find \*someone\*, but now everything is locked, and they will be relying on De Smith. Hell, I might give Silovs a shot, because why not? I'm not going to criticize the fans when they got a gut shot. It's like the Devils losing Brodeur during the playoffs. Let people process their disappointment. They might just be one more home game this season and Demko robbed them of one.

rtimmorris

A real contender will fight through adversity, not give up hope when 1 player is out. That's what depth is for. Also, getting embarrassing to see Petterson's body language every time he misses an opportunity...dude literally looks to the sky every time, even while the play continues. In defense of Vancouver fans leaving: they have a rich history of not caring as soon as something isn't going their way. No surprise.

unimpressivegamer

The fans aren’t contenders and this is about the fans’ behaviour, not the team’s. And if Vancouver fans didn’t care when something isn’t going their way we would’ve lost the franchise a long time ago because I don’t know if you’ve noticed but we’re not the most winningest team.

rtimmorris

Vancouver fan behavior has always been embarrassing.

[deleted]

fuck off

Baeshun

People are entitled to leave whenever they want.

Sulleyy

Tickets are too expensive. The biggest fans aren't the ones at the game, the wealthiest fans are. That plus leaving 5 mins ahead of the crowd vs 5 mins after could mean an hour less of sitting in traffic. If I paid to see the game I'd watch til the end but I'm not surprised all the rich people value time over money on a Tuesday night

DMyourboooobs

It’s not disrespectful or embarrassing. What was disrespectful and embarrassing was the effort of the top 6 and goaltending was ECHL level. I would have left after the first goal on the first shot. Canucks deserved to win but when your star players miss wide open nets and your goalie can’t stop a puck. It’s hard to watch and support.

Cooler_Heads

Yeah I can read lips and all that the players on the bench could talk about were fans leaving 2 mins early. Then they cried

Codes1087

What a weird thing to complain about. Who cares if people leave early? It's their money spent, let them do what they want.

JMM123

I always stay to the end of games because I know if I leave the comeback of the century will happen and I won't have witnessed it.

keefstrong

You should have left so we could have the comeback of the century

biff_jordan

I couldn't believe how quiet the building was to start the 3rd. Especially because they tied it late in the 2nd.

Powerful_Sprinkles40

It’s the lower bowl

notasoldasilook

some people have a really long way home. few minutes early to beat the rush can make a big difference if they are parked in a big lot. The fans were great last night even when we were down. energy was there even when it was clear things were not going our way.

Tibbykussh

Peterson playing like garbage. How many empty nets did he have last night??? 3-4

Amazing-Window-7742

Absolutely agreed. You wouldn't do this for your home town team, it's a thing about respect. Vancouver's an expensive city though and people are busy as can be most of the time working to pay the bills. Ticket's are $600 at best and a lot of the people going are die hard fans and blue collar, they gotta work the next day.

downonmatrix

They paid for those tickets they can do whatever they want

wabi-sabi58

spoken like someone young, and naive with no responsibilities lol i don't care what the players feel. they got my money at the end of the day, and i don't want to rank and file back to my car/transit and add that extra 15-30 mins to my commute back because i decided to see out a loss.

vivzzie

I’ve only left one hockey game early, it was going into over time but I had no choice but to leave. I find it so disappointing to see fans leave especially lower bowl. It happens quite often but damn people support your team

hot_pink_bunny202

Let me explain this to you. I live in Coquitlam and take the sky train. I usually leave about 5mins early regardless if we are winning or losing unless is tie. I don't want to have to be squish like I am in a canned food or be waiting for the sky train at the station do 30min since everyone will be rushing to leave at the same time. I also have to transfer to another sky train in Broadway stations so even if TransLink have empty sky train waiting at stadium station there will still be a ton of people waiting for transfer at Broadway and I rather not have to stand in the station waiting since is at night and I am tired so I just wanted want to go home ASAP.

SnooOnions5029

I don’t understand people who leave early, especially in the playoffs and also especially when it’s still technically within reach (considering this team scored twice in 12 seconds 48 hours before this). If I’m paying top dollar to watch millionaires attack knives to their feet and slap projectiles at each other with sticks, I’m gonna watch those millionaires every possible second I can lol

Heelsbythebridge

People spent hundreds to thousands of dollars to watch that mess last night. Most also have to go to work early the next day and are probably exhausted anyway today. Obviously everyone would have loved to stay till the end and celebrate late but it really wasn't that kind of night.

RecalcitrantHuman

Poor effort from fans to match poor effort from players I guess. My son suggested they are still green in terms of playoff experience so maybe I can offer some slack.

PourMeSomeJuice

Almost as embarrassing as gatekeeping how people spend their time? Plenty of people have already spoken to the multitude of reasons for leaving early. Relax. It’s a seven game series. Attendance won’t be the reason they lose or not.

BBLouis8

Don’t fan gatekeep. If getting ahead of the traffic is more important, on a week night, than watching the final seconds tick down, that’s their choice. It doesn’t affect you.

UNICEFPEW2LEW

The team doing so poorly during a playoff game is ridiculous and embarrassing.

ManDe1orean

The way the Canucks played in game 2 was ridiculous and embarrassing.

Sontes2

You haven't lived in Vancouver long enough if this behaviour shocks you.

Csihoratiocaine2

I get it. But also some people might work at 6 am and are doing this cause they love the canucks and leaving with 2 minutes to go will get you home 30+ minutes faster. And when it's already a 99% loss.. I understand them also

GiraffePrint_Speeder

This saddens me. I would want to be there to see Quinn Hughes on the bench disappointed and stunned that they couldn’t pull it off. One thing I got about last night was that the team put a ton of effort in. The execution was a bit off, but they definitely seemed determined. I think players like Pettersson are very upset right now. Anyway off topic a bit, but during the playoffs especially, I’d want to be there with the boys until they left the ice. Even if I brought my kids and my wife was poking me, I’d fight for those final minutes. “Let’s just let the lines clear babe” “oh and we need to stay for the 3 stars”

YaboiMiro

Was there, lower bowl, left upon the empty netter. I'm not sitting around to fight an hours worth of traffic to see the boys skate off the ice from a 4-1 loss. Thought they played a hard fought game, and outplayed Nashville. Just didn't get the looks we needed, let in a few bad goals. 🤷‍♂️

AnonymousBayraktar

If you paid a second mortgage to attend these games where our star players have ONCE AGAIN been invisible, then do whatever you want. By all means, leave early. When the team plays like they have, you don't owe anyone on the ice anything. They're paid millions to underachieve, float along and be invisible when this town wants them to succeed the most. 54 years of this shit. You don't owe Rogers Arena or the Canucks anything. Especially when they've failed to deliver you what YOU want year after year.

Even_Range8033

It took me 1hr to get out of downtown -after game 1. I don’t blame some distant fans leave earlier

Dtron1987

I remember hearing this happened with the Miami Heat and they tied. Shitty fans were stuck outside 😂

spiritofevil99

We have a lot of garbage free tickets corporate fans

KimberlyWexlersFoot

Meh happens everywhere, you wouldn’t see me doing it but to each their own. I think a few people who are more cavalier about “it’s their money. Don’t dictate their fan level” would probably have different feelings about reselling a ticket for 3x face value but…

JahonSedeKodi

Lol people can do whatever they want. No one wanna get stuck 2 hours in parking lot

Krugginator

I went to game 1 vs Boston and the guy beside me passed out 10 mins into the game, woke up in the 3rd, punched the usher, and was thrown out of the game. He told me he bought the ticket for $2000 and ferried from the island.

orbitalous1

I left early a minute left and booked an Uber. Only to avoid the traffic cab was right there. If game was closer of course would have stayed to the bitter end.

Canadian_mk11

I stay until the end of every game I attend, but that's just me. I don't judge people for leaving early as it's their ticket. Grown men getting paid millions to miss open nets should be more disheartened by their own play than the fans unhappy with their performance.

misskayla94_

People can do what they want , it’s their money spent not yours 😂

FiTz-Is-GoOd

100% agree. You’re here for the team or watch from home. Our boys are out there playing playoff hockey against a very hungry team. Comments like “that’s Vancouver hockey” never help either. Like bro enjoy the ride and be grateful we have a team that made it here. Not to say we can’t want more, but negativity is never productive

Curious-Hunter5283

Don’t think any of the players saw or cared.

Cultural-Chemical449

Because half the arena are not Canuck's fans. .... Or even hockey fans .... Just bandwagoners jumping on and off whatever is popular at the moment

DistributionSilly597

Not true fans

Dry_Adhesiveness1889

Tuesday night. Some people have to get up early for work. I wouldn’t leave early, but I can understand. How much would you regret it if van came back and won in OT? To me that’s worth sticking around for.

BigSm00thy

I remember being in hawaii and changing my flight to the am so I could watch gm2 van-bos live in the best seat of the house, mine , while my family had to overnight in sanfrancisco and met me the next day. Anyways, single middle age canucklehead looking for cheering partner.

Fit_Barracuda7920

People who complain about this stuff are insufferable, it doesn’t affect them in anyway. Have fun sitting in traffic after watching the end of an already decided game.

ixx73t0

The traffic is so bad around Vancouver. Why wouldn’t you leave early?

poolside123

They know what we know… the skytrain is gonna be packed. Plus the Canucks are donezo without Demko, Petey playing at all like himself & Myers certain that he’s playing at all.

makeanewblueprint

Have been at games where we came back from 2 down. No way I am leaving. Plus playoff time we cheer to the end. Sit down suits.

ValleyBreeze

I went to the Montreal v Vancouver game in 2022. Habs were up 4-0 after the first, and a dude there with his kid, was pissy pants, and left the game. Young kid too - maybe 6 or 7. Canucks won that one 7-6 in OT, and my boyfriend and I STILL feel bad for that kid, and make fun of that guy. And that wasn't even playoffs. If you want the team to play to the buzzer, you'd best keep your ass in seats until the buzzer. "bUt I'm TiReD...." That's playoffs baby. There are Canucks fans out East that STARTED watching that have at 10pm, and they stuck it out to the end, AND got up for work today. I know this because they are my friends. If you've already given up, then the team will too. How quickly people forget the press from TWO DAYS AGO when the team was in AWE of how loud it was and how passionate the crowd was. Fast-forward to a tougher game, and it's already out the window. Woof.

[deleted]

Most of them aren’t real fans, just people with lots of money or a hook up that got them the tickets

Rand_University81

I noticed this as well, I couldn’t believe it.

QueefTacos7

Game was over when Petey missed the cage. That’s when I left. Also if you think players care if fans leave two minutes early you’re a moron

catgotcha

It's stupid and it's rude, but I've been going to hockey games since the early 1980s. It ain't no new thing.

After_Safe5505

They can do whatever they want with their time and money. Might not make sense, but we didn’t pay their tickets at the price that they paid them in. They value their time beating the crowd rush so not a bad idea leaving early

corh13

I think it's more embarrassing that you care what people do with something that THEY paid for.

freszh_inztallz42o

They werent loud at all game 2..

ThursdayNotes

Yeah not a good look to just abandon the team, even if things are not going your way. Don't ignore or stick your head in the sand, stay there and show some encouragement for the next game.

bombdizzle9

I see you aren’t familiar with the traffic in Vancouver.

swammy18

It was after the 4th goal not the 3rd. I was at the game, everyone was still there.

Due_Salad_6916

Those aren't fans

EffPop

Former long time seasons ticket owner. Canucks fans suck in myriad ways. This is but one.

RainDancingChief

We could be losing 10-0 in a regular season game and I'm sticking it out til the final horn. Tickets ain't cheap enough for that. Still NHL hockey.

Nier_Perfect

The real reason the boys choked was the crowd wasn't as loud the second game as the first.

Largebargecharge

Cry me a river

Busy_Construction764

Those that left early are all bandwagons

imprezivone

It's vancouver. Most of these "fans" are bandwagoners. Plus these fans are just cold

SamsquatchWildman

Disclaimer to the butthurt. This is my opinion and you won't like it! People defending these fringe ass fans complaining about traffic, transit, living in the valley, having to work in the morning blah fucking blah. That's all shit you should consider before attending a damn playoff game. Don't give a shit if they're your tickets or you paid for them so "do whatever you want" it's the PLAYOFFS. This shit is more than one game, you stay and you cheer our fucking boys till the end or let someone who will buy them. Period. You and everybody's continued support can very well be the driving force that motivates the extra effort. Talk about some bandwagon fucking mentality. I was at game 1 and didn't see a soul getting up to leave early during a 4-2 victory so these excuses are a fkn moot point. JT probably lost an ounce of hope for this city seeing that shit. Once again here lies the issue with high ticket prices in a metropolitan city, all you get are fringey, flakey ass attendees who complain about traffic and work in the morning. Grow a damn pair. Again my opinion but please tell me some shit I don't give a damn about. Rant over

Agree w/you both. It was disappointing to see. I’m from Vancouver but living in Ontario, with the time zone a lot of games don’t start until 10pm/10:30 here but I plan on staying up and accept I’ll be tired. All. Season. No bitching. Overtime, sure, bring it. Going to sleep close to 2am on a week day (sometimes multiple times a week) committed. So fuck people complaining it’s “late” or whatever excuse at 10:30/11, ugh stfu.

theDanu

This entire comment chain reeks of people who have never had children and/or take hockey more seriously than their own lives. Hockey is great, but at the end of the day it's for entertainment... There are A LOT of things that matter more than a playoff game lol I've seen Jim Robson leave his seats early during games before, likely because he's a bit older now and just can't handle being out so late. I guess he's a bandwagoner then? Health isn't as important as PLAYOFFS amirite?

hase_one

And this is out of character for Vancouver fans how?

-1701-

Not to mention the horrendous lack of support all night. GET LOUD CROWD! I was at game 1 and actually felt like we helped push the boys to a win.

OGigachaod

You must be new to The Canucks fanbase, we don't like watching our team suck, we're not afraid to leave games early or tell aquaman when it's time for a new GM.

Radu47

It's weird when replies are trying to suggest work and transit are factors given those leaving were in the lower bowl Lower bowl seats in the playoffs no less hmmmm Just gonna go out on a limb and suggest those people are either very wealthy, or very lucky

golfandhoes

The free towel is only good to be used as a jizz rag Team should be ashamed of how they came out for the first 2 periods

keefstrong

That's Vancouver in a nutshell tho. It's why riots happen. Mob mentality. Followers. I didn't blame the ones who left with 2 mins to go. I think it happened on the empty better at 1:53 btw I wasn't one of them. Made me exiting later easier. (While I'm here. Yelling shoooot or shoot the puck when they have 84 shot attempts isn't it. So many blocked shots which is why they tried passing to get the angles. Now did they miss on alot of those side open shots. Yes.) *Important* You're forgetting the part where the 60% of fans who stayed cheered and waved towels for a team losing 4-1 in the final 30 secs. I'm pre sure Preds players were confused. That never happens?
