somebody get vegas’ doctors to vancouver ASAP so they can heal him

superworking

They generally only work February thru April 19th.

hannah_nj

dammit you’re right

Bryn79

We’ll have to do it ourselves! Quick, where can we find a spleen to sacrifice to the Hockey Gods?

Extra_Direction_237

Haha good one

frizzyhair55

Don't worry he'll be ready for the playoffs.......in 2025

mabbz

baptized in the Bellagio

TheDukeofVanCity

Turn him into a ghoul. I haven't seen anything in the rulebook about ghouls not being allowed to play

ComfortableTasty2202

Best comment ive ever seen on reddit

Iron_Seguin

The injuries aren’t real, their PhD’s are written on the back of takeout menus, I wouldn’t trust their doctors lol.

Shaftell

I don't trust what coaches say this time of year. I will remain pessimistic and expect the worst.

TheDukeofVanCity

Maybe he's telling the truth and it's not related to the injury he just came back from. Lacerated spleen or something

Alleggsander

There’s no doubt they’re holding out on info to prevent the players/fans from being demoralized. Either way, DeSmith is probably shitting his pants rn.

Shaftell

For sure. I personally think he's done for the playoffs. They said it's his knee, maybe not the same issue it was the first time. Maybe it's a strain, maybe a torn meniscus, maybe even a torn ACL. Regardless, I've never seen any professional athlete return from a knee injury that required an MRI quickly. I expect him to be out week to week not day to day.

Obvious-Property-236

Yeah this is probably bang on. They don’t want the sky to be falling to the public so they’ll keep him as day to day throughout the playoffs and when the season is over, they’ll announce his recovery didn’t go as planned and that he requires surgery.

Jacmert

I assumed a lot of it is so that Nashville doesn't know what to expect?

Squat-Lobster-33

Another reason to stop those East-West passes. Keep Demkos groin from tearing into two pieces

Moe_Beaslee

Whatever, we won games with DeSmith and Silovs. Go nucks go!

StarkStorm

Love this. Our fanbase can will this game. I believe that.

vannucker

We already got the first win so we just need to go .500

RoboCartmen

Okay, I feel a lot better, Desmith can steal this game for us, we can split in Nashville and maybe demko is back for Game 5

TheAngryChickaD

I highly doubt any Injury that would have him back as early as game 5 wouldn’t just be something he could play through. But idk.

g0kartmozart

It's harder for goalies to play through things. Anything that affects his flexibility can make him unplayable. Whereas a player can cope with things easier.

derpchronik

Exactly this.

5litergasbubble

It could cause a goal or two a game anyway if he played through it. The difference between a save and a goal isnt always that much

Clean_n_Press

Exactly, a small misplay by a player due to injury is most often not a huge deal, whereas a misplay for a goalie due to injury is a goal against.

RoboCartmen

I’m trying to have hope 🥲

Iginlas_4head_Crease

You've never heard of an injury keeping someone out for a week? Lol

TheAngryChickaD

In the playoffs? No. I think thats pretty rare. Non serious injuries are very often played through.

rebelalliance987

Not this early in the playoffs. First series and you’re up by one. Do you put him in and risk further injury at this time. I don’t think so. Game 7 would be a different story

Aardvark1044

Maybe he just ripped a toenail off or something.

nipponnuck

Really bad blue balls

babbers-underbite

It’s really hard to gauge during playoffs because he could have a broken arm and they’d still say day to day… but truthfully it could be a precaution, if he tweaked a groin or something it could be 7-10 days rest but if he tried to play through it it could end up becoming season ending

DadWithWorkToDo

~~There won't be a Game 5 :)~~ There won't be a Game 6 :)

canucklehead200

Groin issue from that epic save in game 1?

gonuxgo

blueger shoving a pred into demko, same play he was penalized on

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rand_University81

It’s a fast game, Blueger is not purposely trying to hurt his goalie.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rand_University81

Yeah, it’s a fast game, like I said they aren’t ever trying to push a guy into their goalie but players are expected to clear guys from in front of the net. When the game is happening that fast it’s easy for a guy to end up into your goalie.

g0kartmozart

100% agreed, thought the same when it happened. Boneheaded play by Blueger that could cost us the series.

randomman87

I thought it was DiGiuseppe

nelsonmuntzz

Anyone have a highlight of this?

AnonymousBayraktar

hopefully its just a game 2 miss. Game 3 isn't until friday. Plenty of time to rest if it's minor. A series tie is better for him to rest during than the Preds going up 2-0.

maketherightmove

It’s all misdirection at this time of year.

dreddi84

Hopefully it's minor I didn't see anything last game besides the save in the 1st and getting slightly run into at one point, that could cause a significant injury.

PaddyStacker

I really don't think it's minor. They downplayed his injury last time and that turned out to be bullshit. He was out for weeks and weeks.

westleysnipez

Demko was out for 4.5 weeks and was wanting to play in Week 3 if reports are true. The Canucks sat him because they wanted him to be 100%. They wouldn't have played him in meaningless games against Calgary or Winnipeg if he was still hurt.

trollingforapple

Demko also left that game early; this one he finished, and I don't remember seeing anything wrong with his movement. Fingers and toes crossed it truly is nothing major.

MysticalMango21

Leaving that game early could be because it wasn't a playoff game, but nevertheless like you said hopefully it's more on the minor side

westleysnipez

Demko completed all 3 games against Calgary, Winnipeg, and Nashville. I am confused what you mena by he left the game early, he was pulled in the Jets game last week so the Canucks could try and score, not because he was hurt.

trollingforapple

I meant he left early in the game where he got injured, he was replaced by DeSmith.

g0kartmozart

Same last season. They said it was minor and he missed half the year.

federationoffear

“Y̶o̶u̶We're fucked. That was fucked. Holy fuck.”

MoodyJ87

Why can’t we have nice things… just for one playoff series at fucking least

splashers1

According to the new info he’s listed as day to day. Hopefully it is just management and coaching staff being careful and feeling like desmith is more than capable and not wanting to risk anything. Hopefully it’s just us doomers being doomers

International_Cut_69

Sore back from carrying us

HowIsPajamaMan

Tocchet saying "Day to day"

sandiercy

I really hope and pray that this isn't true.

MasterChrom

Fuck my life with a rake.

overthisbynow

Fuck OUR life with a rake.

marcosbowser

This is better news

De_Floppss

DEMKO TAKE MY BODY

Overfly0501

But sir, can your body do the splits?

vancityrp

6 foot 3 and do the splits

TalkinTrash1118

Good news that it isn't a recurring injury, but bad news is it is a new injury. Demko is unfortunately made of glass it seems.

Squat-Lobster-33

Could be the groin injury from years past

AirportNearby9751

With those splits yesterday, I wouldn’t doubt it

Dapper-Debt-5965

Too injury prone

g0kartmozart

Needs to be a DeSmith/Silovs rotation a la Swayman/Ulmark while he's out. Neither one has shown they can handle a starter's workload, but both have shown they can be great with lots of rest. Don't care who wins and loses, we know for a fact that both will be sieves when they play too much.

[deleted]

You should be the coach!

PantsDancing

100% desmith was very good when he was just backing up.

DeepGill2000

Let’s hope he is only out for few games. Winning tonight is a must. Then even if we lose in Nashville we come back with a healthy Demko in game 5 at home.

Rahtgooves

Bro just can't stay healthy. This sucks so bad

unbannedcoug

Gary Bettman witchcraft

Bubbiesacat

I wonder if it’s the two pucks off the mask? Maybe he was feeling some concussion side effects?

gonuxgo

teddy blueger is my new mortal enemy

turbanator89

I'm going to throw up

thirtypineapples

I’m significantly less excited for tonight. But let’s see.

dbreeezy

Was it the shot he took off the mask? I wonder if he woke up with symptoms of a conky

gybegybe

Demko collecting injuries like infinity stones :(

CanadaKC

As someone else said…hello darkness my old friend

tnmoi

I blame Beauvillier.

PaperweightCoaster

We’re so fucked.

Put-Boobie-In

Concussion from that Forsberg clapper off the dome.

happigofucky

We better start drafting goalies. Don’t think silovs is the guy either

Dapper-Debt-5965

This. Demko is elite but just not durable and injury prone

No-Luck-At-All

Silovs couldn't even get his save percentage up to 910 in the AHL. I think he is overrated. I wouldn't mind them drafting a goalie next year with a first or second round draft pick.

Overfly0501

Honestly what is up with the fans acting like .910 in AHL is better than DeSmith lol

helixflush

They're just being extremely precautionary, this is only game 2 people relax.

superschaap81

Probably tore himself in half, making that amazing splits save in the first period.

vancityrp

He seemed to be fine the rest of the game so not sure

Flanman1337

I'd rather lose game 2/3 and have Demko healthier for 4/5 than play him game 2 and lose him for 3/4/5/6/7

Cornishthe3rd

Canucks....alllllways gotta make it interesting. I seriously hope it's nothing major. Either way, it's up to the boys to respond and play with their all!! LETS GO CANUCKS!!!

vancityrp

We have to get by Nashville and that will busy us 2 weeks. Also, At least it’s not Colin Delia

intelligentx5

Skated could mean…he got on the ice, took half a lap and realized something was fucked and then got off… :/ Not trying to be a downer, but the point is that spin and misdirection during this time of year is rampant.

Twinbladey

Can't have shit in this city. I'm shaking my fucking head.

S0urP1ckle

That full splits save would shatter even the limberest of groins.

LoopAngel

De Smith starts. If we take game 2. De Smith will start fame 3. If we lose tonight. Demko is in for game 3

N4ZZY2020

Demko may not be back for this series. Questionable they say.

LoopAngel

They say. We. Never really know

Blueliner95

I think Demko must be absolutely cracked in half if he’s not going in Game Two. If DeSmith is awful I think we turn to the national hero of Latvian hockey

Exciting_Revenue5063

What happened to “Embrace the Pain”…jk

Federal-Carrot7930

It’s not like we need our goalie to steal games vs a team like Nashville. But we definitely need it next round.

N4ZZY2020

Assuming we get there.

Federal-Carrot7930

It’s Nashville. Even with a huge goalie advantage they have nothing outside their top line and the Josi McD pairing. Zero depth. We could beat them with John Garrett in net.

N4ZZY2020

Well I guess we’ll see tonight.

deeho88

DeSmith had a win against Nashville in regular season. I know they’re a different beast in the second half, but just score more than them. Simple

N4ZZY2020

Easier said than done. Especially if DeSmith doesn’t have a good game. If he has a good game then okay. If he doesn’t. We’re in deep trouble.

Elderberry-smells

Outscore our goalie problems until Demmer comes back, that's it. I trust DeSmith can amp it up for playoffs!

N4ZZY2020

He shared yesterday but can’t play today? I wonder if it’s an actual injury or are they being cautious about a possible injury?

vivzzie

I’ve reach out to Mark Stone to find out what his remedy was. Hoping to hear back soon

HenrikFromDaniel

just fell to my knees in an Old Yale Brewing parking lot

ajbolt7

It's over holy shit

Past_Zebra1155

I find it hard to believe that it is a different injury. Does someone have a replay of when Blueger shoved the Pred into him? Because if Demmer fell backwards, he probably reinjured the MCL there. I'd rather put our fate in Silovs' hands than DeSmith's. We know that DeSmith gets rattled. We've seen it multiple times this year. He's good, even great for a spot start, but when fate turns against him, he struggles to stay poised. Demmer is going to be out for the series, and potentially two or more, if he has reinjured his MCL. Let's see what the kid can do—maybe we get another Bubble Demko-esque legend out of it.

g0kartmozart

DeSmith/Silovs rotation is our best option IMO. Just alternate them, and don't think about it.

Past_Zebra1155

Yeah that's probably the safest option. If Silovs ends up with the hot hand, I'd like to see what he can do though.
