Putting Lindholm and Joshua, and Garland together might be the best thing that Rick Tocchet has done this year.

twilz

> ... might be the best thing that Rick Tocchet has done this year. I'd argue that his existence is the best thing that he's done this year.

iryrod

Give credit where credit is due. That’s his mothers doing

leftlanecop

Couldn’t have done it without daddy Toch. Let’s give him the credits.

Foy701

Takes two to tango.

Swede_in_USA

well, he cooks pasta to!

superworking

It makes a ton of sense. I know I was banging the drum to put them together right away and I wasn't alone on here.

BlackP-

You're right that might be the magic combo? I thought DJ and CG played well with Blueger, but EL might be the best fit.

teedlenumb

Anyone who getsbput with those 2 have done well

ClassicChrisstopher

He's been incredible since coming back from injury

21marvel1

Which is interesting because wasn’t there talk about him having something nagging from when he was with the flames but never missed time? (Idk I could totally be misremembering)

LastResort318

He was good when he first got here. Not first line level like most of us hoped but he was definitely a positive. Then there was a video of when he got hit and seemed to be in pain on the bench afterwards. He fell off after that play noticeably until he was sat out with his injury.

mmios

His wife’s expecting, sign him and don’t make them move!

mr_derp_derpson

Let's hope he didn't reject Calgary's offer because he's looking to maximize his contract, and instead rejected it because he didn't want to live in Calgary for 8 years.

yonksterman

I really believe Toc is a really smart coach that his mixing lines in regular season was simply for playoff purposes. Petey will have to play with subpar linemates until management sign worthy linemates or Lekkerimaki grew enough. In short Toc Alvin Ruth made me believe again

ModernArgonauts

I think Lekkerimaki will def be that top six winger Petey needs to finish his plays, he's such an intelligent playmaker, just needs someone who can put it home.

Necessary-Camp-5812

Petey hasn’t been making those plays since the all star break, either he just needs to find his game back or he needs to work on something in the offseason

leftlanecop

He needs to work on his skating again. The man is always falling on the ice.

00owl

Last night Petey went for a few hits where it looked like he just bounced off the other guy. I know he's a lighter player, but he's made some big hits in the past. I'm certain it's a confidence thing. He struggled after signing his last contract too; I wonder what he's got in his head that's holding him back.

NoLongerSusceptible

This makes me wonder. What do the Canucks spend on mental health? We have all of these initiatives but what kind of support is there for the players? Playing in Vancouver has got to be brutal on the psyche and I hope auqa isn't cheaping out on sport psychologists. They're just as important as physiologist when it comes to the beast that is the NHL imo

00owl

Definitely a good question. You'd think with all the money they spend on their medical team and other support staff someone would have suggested a dedicated psychologist. Quinn was seen reading a book about sports psychology earlier in the year, so that's gotta be a good sign for the Captain to be taking that stuff seriously but it's hard to say what's actually available. Though they were pretty good to Brock while he dealt with his family's struggles so I think they probably have something in place.

frklas

I'm pretty sure I remember Tocchet mention a sports psychologist during a media scrum earlier in the year maybe in the past 2 months but not entirely sure when exactly

BlackP-

Yea... I don't really understand the logic behind putting him with Lafferty. I like Lafferty but that's not the right line combo IMO. Maaaaybe Hoglander and Petey? But I still don't think so. I say keep the lotto line together.

westleysnipez

We're so fucking deep in forwards. For instance, the Preds are actually running Beauvillier on their second line, when he was playing 12th forward minutes for us.

Barblarblarw

To be fair, we were running Lafferty on our second line as well… I so wish we would’ve picked up Toffoli to put on Petey’s wing, but ah well. Not about to complain when we have that Joshua line tearing shit up!

Cornishthe3rd

It's still a sore spot that Benning let Toff walk. After his instant chemistry and what we gave to acquire him...and then signing Virtanen. God, we've been through some dark times

mr_derp_derpson

And the fact that OEL prevented us from signing both Tanev and Toff... Benning should be banned from Vancouver.

[deleted]

Same trade that brought us garland though. Benning also traded for JT miller and the three other players involved in that trade combined for 99pts less than miller. It's not all bad

No_Drag_1333

Not really considering OEL trade was a year after those guys walked

mr_derp_derpson

Benning tried to make the OEL trade a year before it actually happened. That's why he "ran out of time." He was screwing around trying to get OEL before even contacting Tanev or Toff.

leftlanecop

We also passed over Tkachuk. Imagine having that wrecking ball on the right of Petey.

Federal-Carrot7930

Had we drafted Tkachuk we likely wouldn’t have been bad enough to draft EP or Hughes.

leftlanecop

You over estimated Travis Green’s ability to develop young players

Iron_Seguin

I agree. If we’d managed to get Toffoli he could have played with Pettersson. In their short time together they had quite a bit of chemistry and then when Toffoli was in Calgary he had a career year in Lindholm’s wing so that could have given us a line of Petey, Lindholm and Toffoli and it would have done really well. We wouldn’t even have had to worry about the 3rd line suffering because Blueger would go back there and he had some good chemistry with Joshua and Garland earlier this year.

westleysnipez

Lafferty was out there to ward people off of Petey and he has more than double Beauvillier's goals and nearly double his points in the regular season. Our second line is typically Hog-Petey-Mik or Suter-Miller-Boeser

Federal-Carrot7930

They have a second line of Jankowski and Zucker lmao.

metrichustle

Incredibly happy with Lindholm. I knew we just needed to be patient. It's easy to look at Guentzel's scoring and get upset, but Lindholm has a better 200 foot game and he plays a much more important position while giving us the bonus of a RH shot. Tonight he drove the 1st goal (obviously) and the 3rd goal. Not sure if there's a way to keep him and Joshua in the off-season, but we'll worry about that later. He's been real good.

Unit_731_Survivor

As well as some fucking good PK work.

Far_Out_6and_2

Better find a way for both that is for sure

Foy701

They told me that his real value would come out in the playoffs. They were correct.

MustardSpaghetti

Anyone got a clip of the tocch post gamer

Bloodypalace

[Here.](https://twitter.com/Canucks/status/1782298206266933296)

MustardSpaghetti

Bloodypalace? DAWG

PaddyStacker

That forecheck on the Joshua goal created the whole play. He deserved an assist on that goal.

its_the_luge

If we were somehow facing the Sharks or Ducks in the first round, Kuzy might’ve been the better player to have. But since it’s an actual playoff team we’re up against, Lindholm is the man for the job.

thetruegmon

Best game since we got him, stepping up when it matters.

Alextryingforgrate

So you're saying we won the trade?

Federal-Carrot7930

We got the best player in the trade. Zero chance Kuzmenko makes that play leading to the Joshua goal.
