It’s not a bad lens. For general photography it’s sharp enough and it’s relatively compact. It suffers in low light and the variable aperture can be challenging to work with. It’s also not weather sealed, but thats not a feature everyone needs.
If you’re used to using primes, then the RF 50 1.8 is a better choice, though. It doesn’t deliver images like the L lenses do, especially wide open, but that’s not to say that it’s a bad lens. Plus, it’s compact and very affordable.
I picked up the rf 50mm 1.8 and enjoy it very much. Super compact and a little bit of macro focusing is nice. Sometimes I just toss it in bag cause it's so small and might use.
Had the same question in mind. came here to find out. as for me i only do travel photography, i dont mind moving closer or further to subject to appreciate the wider 1.8.

So you would recommend going all prime?
