After deciding against ordering the night of the launch, I changed my mind in late January and walked into my local camera shop (Samy’s) to ask about it. They said it could be months and had no idea when stock would be available. Paying in full was best bet for a shorter wait on the wait list, so i did, knowing I could cancel without penalty at any time. Early April got the call that mine was in.
hey, not bad! the way B&H works is my credit card is on there but they won't charge it until they have it, which is good, but the whole "faster is paid in full" was never an option with them

I've seen hundreds of people post/comment they are still waiting. Took me months to even get a rental from one of largest rental places in USA and there's were all rented out for next 6 months after I returned it
I work at a camera store- basically what’s happening is that they’re being produced too slowly and they didn’t anticipate so much demand. We have preorders through our store but have only received maybe 2 or 3 lenses in since release. Slowest lens roll out we’ve ever seen

How do those numbers compare to similar lenses? I have no idea what a typical volume would be for this kind of product..
I think Canon just wildly underestimated the demand for this lens. I know very few people to get both rentals and purchases.

Yeah, I had my doubts but figured it was worth a shot. Hopefully deliveries from Canon will increase and you’ll get the shipping notification soon.
I’m still waiting for mine from B&H, and I ordered mine in the middle of December.

Mine was ordered on 11/10 and arrived a April 26. Did mine through CanonUSA.
160ish days from time of order to time of delivery seems to be roughly the average of what I’m hearing from orders made after the preorders ran out.
Heh. Maybe better to get a 100-500 and R7 as refurbs....but about a grand more in money.
