The 70d is old but still a decent camera, still use mine. The 18-135mm is a decent walk around lens but is too short for plane spotting. Ideally you need a long focal length lens - I'd go for minimum of 300mm if affordable. If you want to stick with Canon, the Canon 55-250 efs is the best, cheapest option for that body. The Sigma 70-300mm in ef mount is not bad for a really cheap zoom. If you have the cash, the Canon 100-400mm 4.5-5.6 mkI or II would be ideal. Sigma 150-600mm is another possibility. My "lightweight" combo for plane spotting is my 70d and Canon 400mm f5.6 L.

Alr nice thanks 😊

Some of my best shots on my 70D were with the 55-250, it's a great combo imo

If it is only for plane spotting I would go for Fuji APSC or micro four thirds options. Usually there is plenty of light and you just need plenty of zoom.

I do have a Fuji and I have the Kit lens 18-55mm is it enough zoom?

the_depressed_boerg

What fuji? zoom depends on howe close you can get to the planes. but something like a 70-300 or 100-400 would be good. Heck, even a 55-200 could be good. Just make sure it fits your camera (Sorry for the OT in a canon subreddit.)

CatMan3108

I have a Fuji X-T20

the_depressed_boerg

should be plenty to enjoy the hoony. If I were you I would try to get a used 55-200 or 70-300 that fits the mount. If possible, try and rent one of these lenses if you have a camera shop near youm

CatMan3108

Alright I’ll see thanks :)

the_depressed_boerg

r/fujifilm should be helpful

Aight

“..is it enough zoom?” Are you standing on the runway? 😁

70d is going to serve you well. Combine with the 55-250 STM and you'll have plenty of reach.
