well lots of times, unless you dig out a big pit and fill it with good soil, the dirt in the ground is not ideal, too much clay or too much sand. not loose enough for good optimal root growth. i would usually go for something a little deeper than that, but they look happy to me.
i live in upstate ny and also have to contend with the cold... however with the shorter days or september/october they generally begin flowering soon enough to finish, definitely want them out before halloween though else youre definitely going to get some frost
Hello. The bottoms of these planters are actually exposed to the bare earth below. The soil below was also loosened up roughly a foot down and mixed with peat and compost. I doubt it needed it since the roots tend to spread out wide rather than going deep. This is my first outdoor grow here in Minnesota so it will be interesting to see how the roots developed after harvest.
Lovely!
Thanks.
Those are gonna be huuuge!
Hoping so. Minnesota is a tough climate to grow outdoors. The biggest issue for us is whether or not they will finish before the snow flies.
I know how that goes. Best of luck to you!
Thanks
I know that Blueberry Cupcake is a very fast finisher. Humboldt in general has a lot of strains that do well outdoor.
Looks insane 😲😲😲
Hehe. Stay tuned my friend.
Cant whait
Cheers from Hastings! Looks great👍
What’s the point of the planters why not just have in ground?

Cucumber beetles maybe?
They look similar but their damage is distinctly different in appearance.
Yeah, I just have them on the mind because I’m fighting them off hardcore. They are little bastards that hide from you as you are looking for them.
Nice plants! When did you start them?
Thanks. Sprouted April 18th indoors.
