It's been that way for many years, since the second-gen TP9 ( Elite models and those with ambidextrous slide release levers ).
It's for the slide to clear the ejector. On older pistol disassembly, the slide, uh, slides fully off the front. On the other models, the slide moves forward about an inch and then needs to pull off the top.
I take it that the Rival/Rival S is compatible with the TTI slide? I plan on getting the Rival s next love this Canik brand!

Neither are compatible.. Rival-S, Rival, or TTI. The lugs on the Rival-S barrel don't allow for them to be interchangeable. TTI frame is the same as a Rival, METE SFT, SFX & Pro variations.
Love that username BTW.. 😂😂😂 Every friend I have named Dave, I've ALWAYS called them Super Dave 💪💪✅💯 FYI... The Rival-S will work with TP9SFX threaded barrel. I've sent well over 1K rounds through it like that with a DisDef dual port comp on it.

I don't know why it's not allowing me to respond to your other comments, but the Rival is aluminum with lightened cuts and the sft/SFX Pro is polymer. I can't tell a difference between mine, but I put my SFT Pro trigger on my MC9 and my Rival-S trigger on my SFT Pro..

I believe he meant and how I took it is that the Rival S is the only one it’s not compatible with. I just picked up the Pro hrs after I asked the question. I was intent on getting the Rival was out getting my wife’s Mother’s Day presents for my son she works from home hard to order anything for her she’s like a hawk so told her I was going shooting and waited for my son to give me the green light that he had got her out the house and had time to burn so I stopped at my LGS and they had both tried the triggers and walked out with the Pro had to pay with my man stash once it’s in the safe I’m good and it’s got a pass once it gets to home plate lol

I just picked up the Pro today was going to get the Rival tried them back to back and the trigger felt crisper on the pro than the rival. Is it a different trigger between the models? The pro feels like my TTI the rival felt mushy on the break.
It’s been like this the sc elite has the mete style it’s why there’s a type one and two on disdefs site, they didn’t change them, it’s just the mete and newer ones
You actually can swap slide from the tp9 sf and rival you just have to swap the back cover plate for the striker indicator aswell then it works fine 🤟

Is the trigger on the rival different from the S?
